Can I renew my contract early?

So my phone is almost completely shot(I have to insurance for it) and I really need a new one. My upgrade date is 4/5/11, but I really don't think I can make it last that long. So I was wondering if I could still renew my contract before it's over? I know you used to be able to, but I have no idea if you still can now.

After asking in store, calling twice, chatting with an online rep 4 times, I finally sent an email about it and was called the next day by a Verizon rep who said I could upgrade today.
So I ordered it and its coming on Wednesday!
Now, my ugprade was originally on March 5, so it wasn't as far as yours, but it's definitely possible to get it moved up somewhat. Don't listen to the reps that tell you it is "locked into the system," what they really mean is that they have to have their supervisor move up an upgrade. I hate to wait about an hour for the rep to get my upgrade approved by her supervisor, but she got it.
Congrats on getting it moved up. My upgrade is the 24th, this Thursday, and I can't even get it moved up. I've talked to 6 people now about it, both calling, and chatting with reps online. I emailed yesterday and haven't heard anything back. I even went into a Verizon store just 2 hours ago to test out different phones and the reps would not move the date up even though I was willing to purchase a phone then and there if they did. It's hit or miss, I suppose

  • Can't renew contract and upgrade phones 1 1/2 days early?

Last Saturday I tried to renew my contract and upgrade mine and my wife's phones to the Galaxy S5 at the Tunnel Rd, Asheville NC location. My official contract renewal date for both phones was the following Monday, but due to the nature of my work, and the fact that I have to schedule said work around my wife's cancer treatments, I rarely am able to make it to any business within business hours. I had hoped that renewing 1 1/2 days early would be feasible, but upon asking at the Verizon store, I was told by the young lady "assisting" me that, no, they were very strict on not allowing early renewal, and that I should come back Monday. So now it seems that i have missed the buy one get one free deal? That would be very aggravating in and of itself, but imagine my surprise when a friend said no, that you could renew and upgrade 30 days before the official date, and he called customer service in my presence and proved it. So was I pushed out of the store because they were busy, or were they just hoping that I would come back on Monday and pay the normal price for both phones? Is there any way that I can still get the bogo deal? Extremely unhappy with Verizon at the moment, I wish there were more options in the rural are in which I live.

The store service is no good for any situation even MILDLY complicated. We upgraded my husband's phone 3 days early because he was deployed and coming home three days prior to his renewal date and his previous phone no longer worked. He did it over the phone but the order mistakenly got cancelled. Went into a store to try to get it handled and they will literally tell you "We work on a different system that the customer service center." I don't even know what that means, but basically, unless you are starting new service, paying a bill, or buying accessories, they will be of no help. I went home, called back into customer service and got it situated. Had you called in, I am almost certain they would have upgraded you. Unfortunately, as someone has already stated, if the deal is over, they most likely will no longer honor it.

  • I am 19 days from my contract needing to be renewed and I broke my screen.    How far in advance can you renew before the actual renew day?

I am 19 days from my contract needing to be renewed and I broke my screen.    How far in advance can you renew before the actual renew day?

Basically it is on the day your contract ends. However some Verizon wireless corporate store managers can over ride that and update possibly a week early. But its iffy.
Now Verizon will let you upgrade to the Edge program but you have a broken device and they will prey on you since you are desperate for a device. Edge plan is paying full price over 20 months and paying taxes on it up front, you then after paying 60% of the device off can edge up to another device. Now if you pay 60% off at anytime after 30 days you can continue to trade them in for new as much as you want.
Or you can wait it out get a new free device under contract or reduced cost device again under a 2 year contract.
The edge plan is no contract.
    Good Luck

  • Can I Renew My Current Contract and Keep My Current Device?

My Family Plan contract ends on 9/10/2011. I am the Primary Line and can upgrade my device (BlackBerry Tour 9630) now.  However, I do not wish to upgrade at this time. Can I renew my current contract on 9/10/2011, keeping the Unlimited Data feature, without getting a new device? I realize my NE2 expires 6 months from my 5/6/2011 upgrade date.

Since you are seeing these dates in your My Verizon account, you are seeing the upgrade dates, not the contract end dates. Contract end dates do not show up in your My Verizon account. Your actual contract end date is 4 months after your upgrade date.
Come your actual contract end date, if you stay on the same plan and stay with the same phone, you will remain on unlimited data as long as you do not de-activate the phone that you have. When the data packages change, and you decide to get new phones after the change has taken place, you will have to get new data packages with the new phones.
If you now have 4 lines with unlimited data for $29.99, those line will remain with unlimited data as long as they do not upgrade or de-activate.
As far as Throttling, Verizon doesn't throttle as far as I know, they may if you get really high in data usage, but I am over 2GB right now and my data is just as fast as it has been.
Forgot I didn't answer this question, if you upgrade to a 4G device right now, with a new two year contract or at full retail pricing, you will get unlimited data for $29.99 right now, and you will keep unlimited data as long as the phone is active on your account and you do not de-active it after the data packages change.

  • I'd really like to renew my contract but I can't.....

My contract expired back in March. My pre-paid line rental ran out in November. I had a look around and I decided to contact BT to see what offer I could get to renew my contract for 18 months.
I spoke to Craig from the retentions department back on the 8th October. He was very helpful and said that he could reduce my current monthly bill to £20.65 for unlimited Inifinity1 and unlimited calls. I had some more research to do so I told him I would think about it.
I spoke to Colin (not from retentions) on the 18th November to try and take up Craig's offer. However Colin could not do that deal as he was not in the correct department. He said he would leave Craig a note and Craig would call me the next day. This never happened and I forgot about it.
Yesterday I got an email saying that my free caller ID was about to expire but I could get it for another 12 months if I renewed my contract.
I tried to do this just now. I spoke to Kirsty from the rentions deparment. The best offer she could do me was £29.35. I pointed out that I currently paid £22.35. I told her about the offer from Craig and said I would happily renew for 18 months at that price. She said that she was unable to offer me that deal anymore. I told her that Craig had specifically told me that the deal was available from the 1st December when new prices came into effect.
Please can someone from the retentions department contact me so that I can renew my contract at the price offered of £20.65.
I have been with BT now for 3 years and had the same HHB3. I asked about getting this replaced with a new HHB5 but was told I would have to pay full price. This seems unfair given they are given to new customers for P&P only.

Right then. I followed the advice. I rang the number and got through to another member of the retentions team. I had done my research before hand and I worked out that I can get the same package as I am on from TalkTalk for an average of £18.75 per month for an 18 month contract. If I was already a TalkTalk customer and I was renewing then I would pay £21 per month for the same package.
I'm not greedy I would have happily recontracted with BT for 18 months for £21 per month (equal to the non offer price from TalkTalk).
The lady I spoke to told me the same thing as the last call. The best they could do was £21.75 for unlimited Infinity and £7.50 for the calls. She also said that I could instead recontract for 12 months at my current rate. I asked if they would replace my creaking HHB3 with a new HHB5 in this case but she said they could not do this.
This left me with no choice - I asked for a MAC code which I should get within the next 5 working days.

  • Were people aware of a fee to renew your contract in addition to the bill and regular fees?

Just received my first bill after renewing my contract for another two years. Big mistake! I was stupid to think Verizon wanted to keep long standing loyal customers especially since the trend seems to be moving to prepay plans. I thought they would hold on to those of us locked into another two years but now they charge an additional 30 dollars just to renew your contract! I asked about it and could get no answer, just that they had been doing it about a year and a half now. Well this is the last time I will be locked in to a contract with them and these sneaky tactics. If they would at least be upfront about it and inform customers but they don't admit or inform anytime when its costing the customer money. I find it very deceiving and dishonest to just add fees without so much as an explanation. I am extremely disappointed, I thought Verizon was trying to increase customer satisfaction. I guess its naïve to think that way in this age.

Bobby, I'm not slamming you at all with this but just showing a different point of view. As far as using the upgrade fee to offset system upgrades etc... That is really a cost of doing business and is usually built into the base monthly fee we are charged because over the last 14 years or so, you have made many system upgrades, including the 3G network and now the 4G network and there was no fee in upgrading to 3G.  As far as the workshops go, I have been to two of them and walked out early on both as they were really not productive or for the most part accurate.  That said, some of the workshops I can see as being useful to new users of a smart phone etc...
Now don't get me wrong, Verizon can and will run their business the way they want to and if that includes passing the cost of the 4G infrastructure off to the end user, so be it, It then leaves the choice of carrier to the end user and most of us will remain with Verizon because of the service itself.
To the OP's point though, they are claiming that they were not aware of the fee and it was never disclosed to them which is an issue and also appears based on the way the fee was billed that it was a third party reseller and not a corp store. Verizon does a very good job of displaying the fee and it showing on any paperwork generated in the corp stores. They are not however that good at telling customers about it and try to dodge around it in most cases. Third party stores however do NOT always tell you about the fee so it is a surprise to the end user and then they go back to the third party and complain and are told it is something Verizon does or yes you will pay it now but Verizon will credit it back after 3 or 4 payments are made (which is not correct) etc...

  • Skype Subscription Cancelled - How can I renew to ...

I received the below email from Skype.
Action required - your subscription is expiring in 1 days as your recurring payment has failed Your subscription will expire in 1 days on May 14, 2013. Unfortunately, your payment failed or could not be processed using your current payment method VISA-SKYPE XXXX-3257.
You can reactivate your subscription up to 90 days after it has expired by updating your payment details in your account.
    Follow these steps:
    1. Sign into your Skype account.
    2. Click "Subscription settings" on the Call phones tab.
    3. Choose an existing stored payment method or add a new one.
You can use another credit or debit card, PayPal or Skype Credit if available as the payment method for your subscriptions.
I have solved the issue with the credit card, so now it is working. The email is telling me that I can renew it within 90 days of expiry, however I can not find the option of getting the subscription I have signed up for earlier.
My subscription was Unlimited Canada & US calling for 12 months at the rate of $30.48 CAD. How can I renew it again at this rate? Is it possible? I don't know what to do as now even the option of Canada & US subscription is not available on the site.

I think that 180 days is far too short a time for MS to feel they can take money out of users accounts when they have already prepaid. It just looks like bare faced money grab by Microsoft, and to blatantly skim off money from unsuspecting users who only wanted to make sure they had enough money to make calls in emergency. Shame on you MS. How can we trust you Skype? How can we trust you MS? If someone stole £15 from me in the street, I'd punch them in the face. Why does it make it OK if you are a company doing the same? The answer is, it doesn't. I have my £15 back now, but I'm disgusted. Shame on you MS
I'm watching you. Try not to let me down again.

  • Is there a way to purchase creative cloud without a ever renewing yearly contract?

I graduate in about 6 months and need cs6 master suite but the terms of the contract say if I don't cancel, which may be hard because I will be joining the military, that it will be renewed automatically and I am wondering if there is a way to avoid that. So as to avoid paying for a product that I am not using is there a way to purchase creative cloud without an ever renewing yearly contract?

Options are to sign up for a month-to-month plan, or you can purchase a 3-month redemption card from a reseller like Amazon.

  • Renewing present contract plan

I hope this is the right place for my questions.
My plan is AC SELECT FAM SHAREPLAN 700 with 3 lines. Contract ends on 02/03/11.
Can I renew this very same plan with all it offers?
Can I get different phones from the ones we have?
Can I do all this online?
I've gone online to my account and have done some research.  As far as I can tell, I can renew my plan or go month to month.  But I'm not certain about the phones.  And I don't know for sure if "renew" means renewing my present plan or a new plan.  Basically I want to stick with feature phones.  I myself am pleased with my present phone.  My family members need a different phone.  And in another 2 years we most likely will go with a smart phone or whatever is available then.
We are happy with Verizon.  It without a doubt has the best coverage!  But we really, really don't need the "fancy" phones just yet.

Everyone has provided good answers and accurate answers - let me specifically address a couple of points:

Can I renew this very same plan with all it offers? As others have said, to continue with this plan, you don't need to do anything - once you have reached your contract end date, it will continue month to month indefinitely.  It's basically the same plan as the Talk & Text Family Share 700 for 3 lines, and is the same price (unless you have a "special" deal)  Talk & Text 700, 3 lines is $109.98.  How does that compare to what you pay now?
Can I get different phones from the ones we have? Yes, you can upgrade; and if you go with a feature phone, you can likely keep your same plan, or they may switch you to the Talk & Text, but that's the same plan, and the same pricing as the America's Choice Select.
Can I do all this online? Yes.
I've gone online to my account and have done some research.  As far as I can tell, I can renew my plan or go month to month.  The only way you would "renew"  your plan would be to upgrade the phones; otherwise you go month to month. When you upgrade to the smartphone, you will most likely be changed to the Talk & Text, or whatever the iteration is at that point.
We are happy with Verizon.  It without a doubt has the best coverage!  But we really, really don't need the "fancy" phones just yet.
The America's Choice plans also included the "CONNECT" option, which offered unlimited DATA on all lines for the multi-media, feature phones.  That plan and option is no longer available, which is why people are being switched to the Talk or Talk & Text plans with an added data plan PER LINE rather than unlimited on all lines.
    Hope this all makes sense...

  • Opportunity to leave contract early?

Just received a letter from BT about-
The Cost of calling 084, 087,09 and 118 is getting clearer. -
    The letter ends with:-
If you want to leave BT because of these changes and you're still in a minimum term contract, you need to call us within 30 days of getting this letter so you don't get charged for leaving your contract early. You'll need to give 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days5 if you're switching provider), which starts from the date we get your notice. And we'll charge you normally during that time.
Not clear if this just means to leave calling plans or BT broadband as well.

That's an interesting point that has come up before on these forums. As far as I understand it you can have several different contracts with BT at any one time. Phone Line Rental, Broadband & Calls, BT TV, BT Sport, and several additional contracts for add-ons. The main contracts usually have a 12/18/24 month minimum term. These terms don't necessarily have to be aligned.
If they changed say the prices for BT TV they will let you cancel that contract without early termination charges. Fair enough.
But what if they change say the price of Phone Line Rental? They will let you cancel that without charge, but obviously some other products only work with BT Phone Line Rental. Similarly BT TV only works with BT broadband. You would hope that any contracts that rely on another contract that is being cancelled could also be cancelled without charge, but people seem to be given conflicting information about this at times. The question about just the Calls part of a Broadband and Calls contract is another good point. I would think that is one contract and can only be cancelled as a whole, but might be wrong?
Possibly there is something in the terms and conditions somewhere that makes the situation clear.

    definitions...
Verizon considers an "upgrade" simply to be purchasing a new phone at a discount when signing a new 2 year contract. It doesn't have to be a "better" phone, it simply has to be a "discounted purchase".
If you use one definition of a term and the entity making the sale uses a different termination, of course there will be disagreement. You have to use the definition Verizon uses to make any sense.
Not everyone wants a "better"  or "more advanced" phone. Sometimes the phone they have has more capabilities than they want or need yet they STILL want to purchase a new phone at a discount. Verizon does not want to alter their marketing for EACH different reason someone may have for purchasing a new phone and therefore uses the SAME term for ALL discounted purchases when signing a new 2 year contract.
