Hi.
I installed HP Laserjet Pro P1102 on win 7, I checked it for sharing. trying to add it on winxp on same router but is not detected. I d/led file The HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility application "HPHNDU.exe" on pc that printer is attached to, can not find network printer.

It might be possible to do this with an Airport Express. Your AE joins the network and the printer is connected to the AE. If you can get it cheap (g speed is OK).

Can not add new printer

I reset my printer list on my mother's MacBook and tried to add a new printer. There are no printers to add in the Add Printer list. I ran Repair Disk Permissions and still I can not add any printers through the System Preferences>Print & Fax. Why are there no printers to select?

Try reinstalling the printer drivers (software) that came with the printer or go to the printer manufacture web site and download the drivers there.

Can't add network printer to my PC

I have an HP Color LaserJet 2605dn connected thru a USB port to a 5-year old computer running XP Home Edition with SP-2. The printer is designated a shared computer. I also have a Linksys wireless home network that operates flawlessly in every respect except for the problem below.
When I try to add the printer to my new HP Pavilion running Vista Home Premium with SP-1 (64-bit), I get a message saying the server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. When I pursue the "add printer" process to the bitter end, I get a Printer driver setup error (error Ox800f0214).
Can anyone tell me the name of the driver file that is missing, where I can find it, and how I can install it?

ON the Vista Home Premium x64 system go to Control Panel -->Printer --> select add printer and select network printer. Stop there. Now Click on the driver you downloaded from here. Once you begin the install with the exe file the wizard(that is already running) should see the driver and install it. Alternatively you could browse for it with \\computername\printername (substituting your own relevant network names for the devices)
Have you tried physically moving it and installing the printer at the x64 system and then phyically moving it back to the other system where you already have it installed? I know that beast is heavy.
Another option; Use universal extractor and extract the drivers from the.exe files. Then you can easily see which one will work when you extract themto a folder and browse there when you add the printer and the location of the driver is needed.

Can't add network printer properly

I have tried to add a printer on my work network that I connect to through a wireless router. I am trying to add a Gestetner DSc 545. I have the proper printer driver for OS X. I added it via LPD protocol. When I try to print a page, it engages the printer, but I get many pages printed and not the one I wanted to print.
Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you've been struck by the "trick Mac users into buying the postscript add-on" hook. Postscript is optional for that printer, but the postscript PPD is what they give Mac users - assuming we'll spend the money for the add-on.
Depending on the version of Gutenprint you have, you should have a Generic PCL 5c driver, which will work. Or, you can get a more specific driver by following instructions here:

Can not add a printer

I am trying to add a networked HP 3600dn to my MacBookPro8,1 running 10.6.8.
I set it up in the add printer box via IP > HP Jetdirect - Socket using the IP address. It is recognized and has the drivers, but when I click add, it drops the the box that says it's determining the installable options, and it immidiately pops back up. The printer isn't added at that point. I can click it over and over with the same results. I have rebooted and I have zapped the PRAM. Other users can add the printer without issue, and I can add other printers to this machine without issue.
Any clues as to what could possibly be causing this problem?

Don't know if this helps but below is the solution I found for my 3600 printing from Snow on one machine and Mountain Lion on the other:
Ok folks. After 4 days of frustration I finally found a wonderful lady at HP mac support who knew her stuff. If you are having problems connecting to your HP Laserjet (I have an HP Laserjet 3600. I'm told this solution will work for any "older" Laserjet models also) via your network after installing the newest drivers. Here is the solution that worked for me:
1. Shut down your printer
2. Connect directly with a USB cable.
3. Turn on the printer and then select the USB printer in the Print and Fax dialogue.
4. Print one sheet with the USB.
5. Now install the Bonjour, IPP and or HP socket option
6. Test print and you are finished
Now the drivers can find the printer over your network. So far no failures. Oh yeah, don't forget to reserve the IP address for your LaserJet via Airport Extreme:)
Hope this helps a few of you who have experienced similar issues.

I am trying to install this printer but I always end up in same place.
The install always stops wih the error "The Printer and the Computer are Connected to Different Networks"
The IP address of the computer is 192.168.1.93
The IP address of the printer is 192.168.1.94
My home network is conneted to the Internet via a AT&T Uverse. The gatway is 192.168.1.254.
The DNS is also at 192.168.1.254.
I can ping the printer from the computer at 192.168.1.93
I can access the printer via the web at 92.168.1.94 wih the usb cabel disconnected
Because I am at the max limit of the U-verse 2Wire box range I have installed a NetGear WiFi extender model WN2000RPT as an extender only, no DHCP or other features.
The configuration has supported other printers and the installing computer is connected via WiFi. I also have another computer at this same site that connects via WiFi.

Can not add new printer on CUPS

Hi,
I'm trying to add a new printer using CUPS web interface. After I enter my username and password, it then says "Access Forbidden." My user is in the printer group which is allowed to have access to administration privileges per the following line
SystemGroup printer
in the cupsd.conf file. When I tried to log in as root, it does not give me access either but comes back with the login window again.

Thanks for all the feedback on my printer problem.
Here's what I know: Yes, the printer is plugged into the electrical outlet and the computer itself. The printer is an EPSON Stylus Photo R280 and EPSON claims it will operate on a Mac running 10.3.9 (which is what I have). Installation was going according to their instructions, including installing the drivers, and when I got to the part where it said to connect the USB cable, I did and apparently the computer recognized it as the installation then continued to the next step. The next step was a screen that said "Open the Printer List" and that's where I ran into trouble, as no printer list opened, no matter how many times I clicked on the button.
Taking Ali B's advice, I checked HD>Applicaitons>Utilities to find my Printer Setup Utility, and lo and behold, it's not there! I have no idea what happened to it, but I'm guessing this may be the cause of my problem(?). So how do I get it back? Reinstall all my original OS software?

Can not add my new printer to the print and scan preferences

I have purchased a Canon Pixma MG5350 and try to connect it to my mac but with no results. I have installed all the drivers but can not add it to the print and scan preferences. I looked in Applications > Utilities > System Information > USB and it does not even show that it is connected. The printer comes without a USB so I bought a 5m USB 2.0 A to B cable and eventually something is wrong. Is the USB too long, not the right one or what is the problem?

I have already got my refund for the cable! I tried a friends cable and everything works!

It's pretty difficult to offer suggestions when you say nothing about your Mac, the version of Mac OS it's running, or the models of printers you have. I'd suggest you ask this question in the forum for your model of Mac or version of Mac OS X it's running. Tried both ways in the Wiki, still can't get network printing work

I have tried both the client and server ways following the Wiki, still could not get network printing work.
For the first way, I tried to put either the host name or the ip address (starting with 192) of the remote printer into /etc/cups/client.conf. But both Okular and Evince failed to see the printer in the dialog.
For the second way, with cups-browsed running, it only managed to discover printers in my local network (ip starting with 137) which I have no access. I tried to manually add the printer using its ip, but it still did not work.
What can I do? I have spent hours trying to work it out but failed. I would appreciate a lot your help. Thanks.

I can not get my printer to connect to the internet. it is connected to my network according to wifi test printout but my computer can not find it.
When I try to download apps directly from the printer it says that it is not connected to the internet.
I have an airport extreme + 3 airport express a macbook pro and printer is an HP 7510e
I see the printer on the first page in the airport utility when I click on my airport extreme.so it is online but nothing happens when I try to print.

Guess I understand what is going on as I'm also experiencing the problem.
Basically the issue is about the iPhone 4's personal hotspot.
I'm trying to hook on personal hotspot to my toshiba laptop but it couldnt work as the connection is limited to local only without Internet access.
The hotspot works well on other laptop and I-devices, but not my toshiba...

It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
