Can't upgrade to photos
I had the latest version of iPhoto before I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 with the new Photos app. When I try to go to Photos I get a message that says my library is to old, and I should download the upgrader. Understanding that is intended for older versions I go ahead and do it anyways--follow the instructions to launch it, and I then get the following message:
Your library can open with the current version of iPhoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool.
I'm stumped.
Where is your iPhoto library located? Duplicate your iPhoto library and rename it "PHOTOS Library" so it's easy to distinguish from your original iPhoto Library which you may want to continue using if you don't like Photos.
Open the PHOTOS Library with iPhoto. Close iPhoto and reopen with the Option+Command keys held down and run Options #1 and #4 on it. Then try opening the library again with Photos.

Do SMC and PRAM reset and see what happens. Is your CD drive connected directly to the Mini? Perhaps it needs cleaning.

can't open my photo library after upgrading to iphoto 11. Is it possible to download iphoto 9.0.1 after installing '11. Have followed all the other instructions and am in a loop which doesn't allow me to access iphoto or my photos.
when iphoto wouldnt open we read the trouble shooting info and it said that we may have needed to download 9.0.1 if we had an older version. We obviously didn't download it before the upgrade and wondered if it would cause problems or indeed solve the problem if we downloaded it now!
When we try to open iphoto is says:
To open your library with this version of iphoto it first needs to be prepared
To prepare the library use the iphoto library upgrader available from Apple.
We have downloaded this twice now and it still sends us this message when we try to open iphoto. -

when you tried to save did facebook ask you permission to access to the camera roll?
if not close and open facebook and try to save a picture and see if it pops with the question.
if it doesn't, goto settings>privacy>photos and see if facebook is added there,
if it's added and not enabled, enable it.
if everything mentioned above fails, do a reset by holding the power and home button until the apple logo appears ignoring the slide the switch off and try again to save it -

You can't. iCloud is not for general file backup from a Mac. It's for backup up and syncing data between mobile devices and and Macs and The following is from this Apple document: iCloud: Backup and restore overview.

But not from a Mac. If you want to backup your photos and other important files I suggest you get an external hard drive and use it with Time Machine.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking, but on the device/Settings, do you have iCloud and Photos sync turned on?

Can I now delete iPhoto after upgrading to Photos
I have upgraded to photos synced everything across iCloud and everything seems to be fine.
I have a migrated library showing in iPhoto
showing a size of 43gb. I know it is not this size but is it safe to delete the iPhoto library. And also can I delete the iPhoto app its nearly 2gbDo not delete iPhoto!
Remember, we now live in the world of downloaded software. Programs can get removed or changed and you have no ability to reinstall later. In fact this has already happened with iPhoto. You can still buy older versions of iPhoto sold on disk but not the current (download only) versions. -
I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos and say that I need to upgrade my I photo to a newer version. The old mac has no more support from apple in software update so I am not sure where I should go from here. can I use new soft ware with the old mac
The other part of the upgrade message was a warning that once you upgraded you would no longer be able to open the library with the old version which is exaclty what you did and what happened when you choose to continue
The iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iphoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library. Cancel or upgrade.
So now your choices are to not use iPhoto with the previous version using it onky with the newer version, restore your backup from before you did this upgrade or purchase iPhoto Library Manager and use it to rebuild the library using the older version of iPhoto (instructions are on their web site) thereby downgrading it (without projects)

My MacBook Pro does not recognize my Android Incrdible 2 cell phone and therefore I can not transfer any photos from my cell phone to my Mac. I was able to do this in the past, but can not do so now. I have not upgraded to any new software. My USB cable is plugged in properly and I just get an error message -- "No Android Device Found". What could be the problem?
I had the same issue with the Galaxy S4 trying to see what the hype was about and was my first and last android phone. With that being said unfortunately it is a hit or miss with the Mac recognizing an android device or not. It worked perfectly fine the first time around and then it stopped working for no apparent reason. Through trial and error nothing I did solved the issue. I did however plug it in my Mac and left it connected for about 30-40 min to charge for a bit and all of the sudden it recognizes the phone. So I just launched Android File Transfer and everything else became fluid after that. I have no explanation as to why it happened that way, but what I gathered from this is maybe you just have to let it sit for a minute while plugged in before the Mac recognizes it, after all they are opposing software. On a side note this is why I will always be an apple user, Iphones and the like never have this problem

When i upgraded from 9.2.3 to 9.3.1 I had migration issues, where most my photos ended up in a restored event called restored photos. But then they don't come up in faces anymore. So can i upgrade to 9.3.2 and then just rebuild my photo library ? I want to upgrade to mountain lion. But concered about my photo library. So I restored my whole computer back to an earlier date, becuase I couldn't figure out how to restore just my photo library. Advice?
Best way is to restore your backup from before the problem, rebuild it and update it again

By what method are you trying to access these photos? What module of Lightroom are you in when you try this? What exact steps in Lightroom are you using ... please use the Lightroom name of the steps, as technically there is no step called "access", so I honestly have no idea what the step is that you are trying. What happens when you try to "access" the photos? Is there an error message? -
My Ipod-touch was ios5 when I bought. You recommend to upgrade ios6, because set-up icon always shows me "+". For that on facebook I can't see wall photos. So I want my ipod touch to be back as initial version ios5. How can I do? please tell me.
Unfortunately, I don't think it solved the problem. I believed the new iPod thing solved the weird behavior problem, but after that the button stopped working.

Hi, I upgraded from iOS 5.1.1, to iOS 6, and it's ridiculously slow, I can't sync to my computer, (manually manage music), and all of my photos were gone. How can I get my photos back? It says restoring photos, but it's said that for two days now!
It just does't sync. I connect it to itunes, but nothing happens. Where it says how much space I have, it's just on ebig bar that says other. I can play my music on itunes, but not when i unplug it.
All of my photos were gone, i took and saved them with my ipod.
The photo app is saying restoring.

I utilize WIFI sync to sync all my information....however the photos don't sync wirelessly...is that because I have version iPhoto '09 8.1.2 ? if I upgraded can I wirelessly sync over wifi or can you only use Photo Stream to synch photos and you can't do it over wifi sync?

I can't open certain website when I am on the 4G LTE network.
