Cannot connect to SBS 2008 Exchange with Outlook externally

Hello,
We used to be able to connect to a native Exchange account with Outlook even when we were not onsite, however this has stopped working.
If we connect onsite, it works straight away.
Outlook Web App works fine.
We are using a self-signed certificate and always have.  It is still on the same certificate since it was last used successfully (i.e. it hasn't expired and been renewed).
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Plain white screen is expected result.
Lets add a registry key if not exist
1. Set DisableLoopbackCheck in registry :
2.  Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then click OK .
3.  In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
4.  Right-click Lsa , point to New , and then click DWORD Value .
5.  Type DisableLoopbackCheck , and then press ENTER.
6.  Right-click DisableLoopbackCheck , and then click Modify .
7.  In the Value data box, type 1 , and then click OK .
8.  Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.
Also Create BackConnectionHostNames
Open Registry , Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0
1) Create Multi-String Value “BackConnectionHostNames”
2)  Right-click BackConnectionHostNames, and then click Modify.
3) In the Value data box, type 'Externalhostname'  (Note - ExternalHostname is the name that is shown in Get-Outlookanywhere result)

  • Using Mac Mail with SBS 2008 + Exchange 2007

    Hi,
I'm having a nightmare trying to connect my Mac Mail to our mail server. We just got a brand new SBS 2008 server put in our office, but my Mac Mail doesn't want to connect.
Every time I try, it does show the Certificate, and when I click accept it trys to connect and gives this eror:
"The Exchange Server "myserver.local" doesn't have the minimum required version installed. To use Mail with Exchange, the server must be running Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 or later. Contact your server administrator."
Obviously the myserver bit isn't the actual server, I just don't want to tell the world our server name.
The server has the required update, it actually has Update Rollup 10 installed as of today.
    Any ideas?

I think any poster who replys to their own post with something like, "Actually nevermind, I got it working." and leaves it at that despite requests for help, should be banned from ever posting on or visiting any forum on the internet for the rest of their life.

  • Mobile Devices (Android and iOS) cannot Connect to WS 2008 RRAS L2TP VPN with Pre-Shared Key

I have my Windows Server 2008 standard installed with RRAS service and configure with L2TP VPN with pre-shared key. Services such as Active Directory, DHCP and DNS are not installed. The Internet connection doesn't pass through a router to my server machine.
I have the Verizon fios Internet cable plugged in to the server machine directly.
PCs running Windows and Mac OS X can connect to the server without problem. When I tried to connect by using android or iOS mobiles and tablets, they cannot connect to the server. If I change the VPN type to PPTP, the mobile devices can connect successfully
but I would like to use IPSec/L2TP since it's more secure.
I tried so hard to look for the solution for this issue on Internet but I had no luck on that. Can anyone please provide me some help, please ?
    Thanks,
    CK

    Hi CK,
I think we may need to create a policy in Network Policies. Please follow the steps below,
Right click Network Policies, Click New.
Enter the policy name, click Next.
Click Add, select the Day and Time Restrictions, click
    Add.
In the Day and Time Restrictions, choose Permited for
    all, click OK.
Click Next five times(leave everything default), click
    Finish.
Move the policy to top and try to connect with your device.
If issue persists, please make sure that the Connection Requet Policies have been configured properly.

  • Macbook pro with OS 10.6.4 cannot join Windows SBS 2008 .local domain

    Hi,
I just had a windows SBS 2008 installed and it controls a .local domain where all my Windows7 PC's are connected to. I can access the internet wired/wirelessly but i cannot see any of the computers on the network at all, thus i cannot share files or share the printer which is connected to one of the local PC's.
I have read many threads indicating possible fixes but no one has been able to give me a permanent solution. Is this inability to connect my MAC to the SBS 2008 local domain fixable from my MAC or is it to be resolved from the SBS 2008 side? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Entourage 2008 Exchange to Outlook Web Access

Okay, bear with me: I'm an end-user and not especially technically inclined.
That said, for years I've used Entourage 2008 as my email client (on a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9), and it successfully works with the web-based Outlook account that my ISP provides, through a POP connection.
Now, I'd like to sync my Entourage calendar with one in Outlook.
Importing the Entourage calendar into Outlook was easy. But when I build an Exchange account in Entourage, I seem to have fallen on my face.
It still imports mail, but can't send mail
It doesn't sync the Outlook calendar (on the web) to Entourage's
I have upgraded Entourage to the EWS version of 12.3.6.
After configuring the Web Services Edition (as best I could), I still can't send email — or sync Entourage to the online Outlook calendar.
Here's the error message: "Unexpected data was encountered" Error: -17997
I'm using the same settings I see in my Nokia N8 mobile's Exchange mailbox settings (which works perfectly with Outlook including syncing its calendar with OWA's calendar).
What puzzles me is that an Exchange account on Entourage and my MacBook won't work using the same settings as Exchange ActiveSync on my Nokia N8, which syncs flawlessly with OWA. Any and all suggestions gratefully received.

An additional point of information.  You've posted to an Exchange 2013 forum.  Is your Exchange organization running Exchange 2013?  If not, the Exchange previous versions forums are here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/exchangeserverlegacy.
You should share the Exchange version, service pack and update level you're running.
If you believe that it's an Exchange configuration problem as opposed to Entourage, then the issue would likely be in the configuration of Exchange Web Services, particularly the EWS virtual directory.

  • Outlook 2013: Accessing Exchange with Outlook 2013 and OST on mulitple machines?

My organization recently transitioned to off-site Exchange servers.  Users were upgraded to Office 365 / Outlook 2013 using OST files (PST files previously
In addition to my work laptop, I have Outlook 2013 available on a personal Surface Pro 3.  I cannot find a definitive answer on whether it will be a problem to connect to Exchange via Outlook 2013 using an OST files from both the work laptop and personal
tablet.  Will having OST files on separate machines create sync issues?  I have access to Outlook Web Access on the Surface, but prefer the Outlook desktop application for quick actions and other tools.

    Hi,
Typically, when you use a Microsoft Exchange Server account, your email messages, calendar, and other items are delivered to and saved on the server. You can configure Outlook to keep a local copy of your items on your computer in an Outlook data file that
is named an offline Outlook Data File (.ost).
As what Amit says, there would be no issue configuring Exchange account from both the work laptop and personal tablet. The OST file is synchronized with the Exchange computer when a connection is available. It is synced from Exchange server instead of the
Outlook client from your first account computer.
For more information about Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost), please refer to:

I got a new/referbished phone yesterday and cannot connect my work email to my phone. This needs to happen! I have soo much work emails and calendar reminders on Exchange!   HELP!!!!!

I suggest making contact with your IT department at work. It is very possible they have MAC filtering on, or there are other settings in the Exchange environment that would prevent connecting a new device to the Exchange server. They should be able to sort that out for you. You do not describe any errors that you see when trying to connect.

  • Cannot connect to Lacie Ed Mini with new Airport Extreme BS

I've just bought a new AE and cannot connect to my Ed Mini when its connected to an ethernet port when using an XP PC. I'm using the AE in bridged mode (temporarily) but I'm not sure if this is preventing being able to connect to the drive or not. Help!! any ideas? thanks in advance.
    Windows XP Pro

    Thanks Stuart, nice set up!
I listened to your advice and it worked!!!! They are both synced up, however somewhere in the setting I seem to get some problems.
I can use both Desktop(LAN only) and Imac (wireless only) to play Airtunes however I realized that the Imac is surfing the net using the Airport Express rather than the Airport Extreme. Hence a very slow surfing experience.
I went back into the Airport Express and set to join an existing network and tried using a different name, so the Imac won't use the Express to do the surfing. Upon resetting the Express, the green light is active which is good news but now I cannot play Airtunes on both my machines. So I guess even with the green light, the Extreme and Express are not linked up. Am I right?
Furthermore I can get my Imac to use the Extreme to surf the net which is ideal but have the problem where I cannot play Airtunes with Express. I think it's because Express is not linked with my Extreme base station.
What I want is for both machines to surf the net at normal fast speed using Extreme, and for Itunes to connect to Express via Extreme and play my music using Airtunes so I can get great music out on my HiFi.
Any solutions, or settings I need to do? Much appreciated for all feedback from members here.
    Thanks!

    José,
The 6036E User Manuals gives the best definition of the STARTSCAN, TRIG, and CONVERT* signals as well as their relationship to eachother. See 4-20 Connecting Timing Signals of the User Manual for this information as well as timing diagrams.
    NI 6034E/6035E/6036E User Manual

You are correct that configuring your board for external timing is just as simple as connecting your external clock to a PFI line and using it as the STARTSCAN signal. The clock output of your GPS receiver will now be defining when scans are perform on your 6036E due to the synchronization between the two devices. The only synchronization issue you may encounter is
propogation delay. This will be a factor of the cable length connecting your GPS clock to the 6036E.

  • Cannot connect to GAL on Exchange 2007

Hello,When users try to access the GAL from Outlook 2013 they seem to receive this message "the connection to Microsoft exchange is unavailable. outlook must be online or connected to complete this action" It does not happen all of the time and
usually switching from the GAL address list to the user's contact list then back to the GAL will fix the issue. Is there any way to resolve this issue so users just connects to the GAL the first time.
    Thanks,
    BJZ

    Hi BJZ,
In order to understand the issue more deeply, I would like to clarify the following questions:
Are you in Cached Exchange mode or Online mode?
Do you have problems with sending & receiving mail messages?
How many users in the network are affected by this?
This could be due to a discontinuous/unstable network connectivity, might be you can first try with a different network connection and check behavior.
Let me know if this doesn't work, and post back with more info, then we'll take a further look.
