Cannot record ingame sound with glc (-git)

I have a problem with recording ingame sound with some games with glc (well, glc-git). glc says, it can record sound from games, if they use alsa (or sdl and forcing sdl to use alsa). As long as I don't use pulseaudio, this shouldn't be a problem. But for some games, I can't get the sound recording to work. The 2 at the moment are:
FTL
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
I usually get a message like this:
[ 1.46s alsa_hook error ] 0xa8a8170: unsupported audio format 0x0e
[ 1.46s alsa_hook error ] 0xa8a8170: can't extract hardware configuration: Operation not supported (95)
I can record the game, but not the audio. If someone can help or test it, if it works for him, that might be nice. Or if someone knows a workaround or so. Or if someone can confirm, that there is no audio recording for those 2 games (but I actually don't wanna hear it... :-) ).

That's not the issue, the problem is that some games are firing 32-bit float audio (0x0e type as indicated in the error) into ALSA through whatever means, and the standard GLC only supports 16, 24 and 32bit signed int audio. My fork above adds very rudimentary support for float.

Cannot record any sound with my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra audio interface

Have been using Logic for about 3 months and was able (primarily via keyboards/midi recording) to create some decent recordings (via the 'hard' way, some books, video training and without bothering a lot of people with many of my questions). Time has come to start with analog audio recording and here my problem starts. Have recently purchased the Fast Track Ultra audio interface from M-Audio.
Drivers are installed correctly. The device is saying that it functions properly. It gets recognized by my iMAC. It gets recognized in Logic and can enable the device in my audio preferences. I can clearly see in the control panel of my USB audio interface it is creating sound and meters are going up and down.
I get sound in my head phones (which are connected to the audio interface) but within Logic no sound is coming in while with the build in microphone everything seems to work fine. Have played around all kind of settings in my audio/midi configuration utility but no result.
Who can help me out ?

I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic. And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4. However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic.

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

Seriously Sony My Nokia 808 Pureview recorded Loud Concerts perfectly!!! Amazing that i spent 450 Euros on the new Z2 Xperia and the audio recording isnt bad is ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC!! Why have 4K Video if u cant record the sound. Even at a sports event it sounds Horrible... I NEVER had this problem on my Nokia Pureview... PLEASE FIX THIS!!! IT is totally unacceptable for a Flagship device!!

Cannot get the sound with a transferred Powerpoint presentation

I networked a Powerpoint presentation from my Windows XP to my iMac G5. On my mac, I have the Student and Teachr Edition of Office:Mac which has PP. If I open the presentation in Powerpoint on the mac, I can get the pictures but cannot get the sound. I think I have set the PP preferences correctly and the size of the file on both computers is the same.
Is there anything I can do to get the sound portion of the presentation?

I don't know if this applies to PP, but I have had my sound prefs knocked out of whack by apps and not realized it. Others have found that opening a loop in Garage Band resets the prefs to the right settings, but you can do the same thing by opening the "Audio MIDI Setup" in your Utilities folder. Be sure that the format of audio inputs and outputs are set to 44100.0Hz.
Hopefully that fixes it.

Cannot record a mic with Audigy 2 ZS through Logic Platinum 5.1

Hi, ive got the SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card and am having some problems with ASIO... i can record a mic through the mic input when using PC AV with my card, but when i try to use ASIO i cant record with a mic. I would use PC AV but the latency is way too high on it, ive looked around loads of forums including Logic forums but no one seems to have an answer to this problem, and most of the time it goes unreplied.. does anyone know of anything i can do to get my card to record in ASIO??

Hi. To use a high-quality external microphone you'll need a simple audio interface. Check out the single channel (mono) audio interface iRig Pro by IK Multimedia. The Pro version has a balanced mic XLR connection with phantom power for a condenser type mic. You'll need to choose a mic.

Cannot record/playback script with certificate in OpenScript.

Hi all,
We are trying to record a simple load testing login script with a certificate, in OpenScript.
But Internet Explorer just "hangs" for a long time where the certificate selection dialog is supposed to show up, then the message "Content-Length: 0 Connection: Keep-Alive" is shown in the browser.
It doesn't work as an OpneScript functional test either. We can record the functional script, but at playback it fails to select a certificate in the "choose a digital certificate" dialog and eventually gets a timeout.
Anyone having this problem?

I recently aquired a SoundBlaster Audigy SE and cannot record any sounds when I use Fra
ps.
I use Fraps to record gameplay scenes viewed with BattleRecorder (Battlefield 2).
With my onboard audio (Asus p4s800), I remember having "Wave" in my windows sound recording options. It's not there anymore. I tried the other options, including the "what you can hear", but nothing works!:angry:

I don't know why I cannot record the audio with video using the capture key. There is no problem when I do the recording separately!

I have already tried the plist deletion and I evn deleted the entire application and reloaded via the APP store and still no luck.
I will try this again, I am tottally baffled that all the videos sounf fine in QT, and FCP, but NOTHING in iMovie '11 (9.0.4)
I have been using iMovie for a long time and this has never happened before????

Distorted / choppy recorded sound with Audigy 2 ZS and Vista 64-bit

Hi, I wonder if anybody has any idea of why this issue is happening. First let me give you my PC specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0 GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 rev. 2.0
Graphics: 2 x BFG GeForce 8800 GT 52MB
RAM: 4 x GB G.Skill PC6400 @ 800 MHz
Sound: Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
TV Tuner:? Hauppauge WinTV PVC PCI II (26xxx)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP
?So here's the deal. I have no problems whatsoever with audio playback with this sound card. The issue I am having is while recording sound with it. When I record my voice via a Microphone with the Windows Sound Recorder and then play it back, my voice sounds very choppy. It sounds as if I was talking in front of a fan. The same happens with any program I try to use. If I use Audacity to record sound, the playback is also distorted / choppy. The main problem is with Skype, as I cannot use it to talk to people because they cannot understand what I'm saying because of the issue. Does anybody has any ideas why this happens? My PC is a dual boot PC with Vista 64-bit and XP 32-bit, and this issue only happens with Vista. Sound recorded plays back fine under Windows XP.
I am using the latest drivers available for this card from the Creative site.

Sure, but there are in some cases drastic performence diferences. Under a fresh installed Vista X64 i have less CPU usage, as under 32 bit. If you are referring to recording of "system" audio during a screen recording, then that is not a feature "natively" included in QT X and you would have to invest in a third-party app having this built-in option.
If you are referring to mic voice-overs or access to non-native software you have installed, then use the recorder triangle option to select an input option. While you can mic record system audio playing back through your system speakers, the audio is usually of poor quality if the volume is too low or prone to feedback if the volume is set too high.

I have X-Fi Extreme music card on my PC and trying to record some LPs with SmartRecorder. These are classical LPs and I find that when played back, the orchestra (violins, choir, etc) sound like this was recorded in a tin can. Any ideas why this would be? I connected all my cables accordingly and?am still?getting this problem.

Which type of connection are you using there?
Do you have preamp stage w/ RIAA there before soundcard (you have connected the PC into your stereo system just the way
like you connect a casette recorder or you have connected your turntable w/ RIAA preamp directly into soundcard) or
have you connected your turntable (w/o RIAA + preamp) directly into soundcard?
If you're using the latter method, you need to have EQ w/ RIAA compensation added into signal (you need some ASIO/VST
capable recording software which allows you add FXs into signal (Hermann Seib's VSTHost) and an EQ capable for
compensation curve +20dB (20Hz) - -20 dB (20 kHz) (ddmf:IIEQ). It's possible that you
can't get levels set high enough w/o adding some gain plug-in into signal path. You can use Sonalksis FreeG VST (stereo)
for this (in VSTHost, place (route) the FreeG either after or before the EQ (try which works better for you)).
Also, check if the recording source is set correctly (w/ "What U Hear" option you get all added effects added
into signal (EAX, CMSS) so it's best to set input as Line-In) and turn all effects OFF.
If you record into lossy format as mp3 or wma, check that the bitrate is set high enough (I suggest you use bitrates
256 - 320). Also, do not use addons like Chrystalizer, etc..

Can I use quicktime for recording streaming videos with sound? If not which Apple software can do it?

You can use Quicktime to record streaming video +with it's audio+ by using a very simple trick. Using the same cable you connect your iPod/iPhone to your car's stereo system, connect your Mac's Audio OUT to its MIKE IN jack. I used FILE / OPEN URL to select the video stream source, then selected FILE / NEW SCREEN RECORDING. In the resulting 'Screen Recording' dialog box, I set the AUDIO slider all the way to the right, and under the arrow to the right, selected "Built-in Input Line In" for the microphone. I then used the appropriate controls to play the stream and record it. The resultant file was very acceptable. Good luck.
