Cannot send gmail since update to Mail for Mavericks. Help?
I am able to receive mail and of course @me works fine. However, only since the update that was supposed to fix this issue, can I no longer send mail. I have deleted the gmail account and of course used the application specific password from google. This is crazy frustrating.
@ignotus2you, I have the same problem. What I have been doing is going back to google and revoking the application specific password. adding the macbook back in to generate a new password and use the new password to get mail to work again. Work again til it craps out again and then repet the process

I can receive messages and can send them directly from Network Solutions just unable to send now from Thunderbird. Was working fine until the newest version installed. Haven't changed any settings...That anti virus? is it Nortons security suite? I think that is what comcast give their xfinity customers but I am not sure what everyone else gets.
Assuming is is the Norton's product go into the firewall component and explicitly allow Thunderbird unrestricted access to the internet. Norton's product have a long history of blocking new releases of mail programs because the version number changed.
Go onto the SMTP setting you have in the image and make sure each has a description entered.
Now check in the account settings by clicking the account name in the list so you select the item about Server settings for each account and make sure the selected SMTP server is what you think it is. Now there is a description that will show in the list. -
Cannot send after Verizon had suspended me for 24 hours.
On November 20th I sent out 2100 emails to update my files. I spread them out over the course of the day not realizing the 1000 per day limit Verizon sets (my bad- I know). I served my 24 hour suspension from being able to send emails and that ended on November 21st at 518pm.
Now I can send & receive through the Verizon site BUT in Thunderbird I can only receive & not send-- this is the message I receive--
'An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 The message you attempted to send was determined to be spam. Please visit http://www.verizon.net/spamfaq for more information.. Please check the message and try again.'
I have been on the phone with Verizon reps for no less than 2.5 hours & they point to Thunderbird as the culprit even though I had not touched any settings.
Last night I upgraded to Thunderbird 31.2.0, changed to the new Verizon server settings & cleared cookies but I still cannot send. Thank you in advance for a solution.This message generally indicates that your IP address has been blacklisted for sending spam. Only your provider can get the IP address off the list since they control their IP addresses. I would talk to Verizon again and ask for someone that knows what they are talking about instead of the first person that answers the call.

Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

When I compose and send a mail, it gets placed in Outbox and I get a prompt stating something like "relating the message is not supported". Even if I compose a newest age, it says the vey same thing. I just cannot send any response through my mail account. Can anyone help with a solution?
You haven't set up the SMTP (outgoing) mail server correctly. You probably didn't enter your user ID and password for the outgoing server. They are needed even though it says "optional".

I use Office Outlook for mac 2011 to organise my email & calendar. Since updating to OS X Mavericks I have not been able to sync the calendar to my iPhone. What do I need to do to get the calendars syncing again?

Apple told developers they were removing that service over two years ago. The developers that depended upon it should have done something about it.
Why did they remove it? My guess is because it was pretty crappy, was difficult to maintain, and wasn't a good solution for multiple devices that could get the info without tethering to a "base" Mac. -
Since updating to OS X Mavericks, my iMac freezes multiple times per day. This never happend before. I happens in mail, safari, outlook, you name it. I can move my mouse, but I can't select or do anything until I power down and back on. Any idea's?

Ever since updating to OS X Mavericks, my internet connection cuts in & out. My airport is linked to all divices but sometime I lose my internet connection. Can anyone help?
Might be corrupted network preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Turn off the base station for about ten seconds then turn it back on.
See if that makes a difference.
Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you. -

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
I can send email but cannot receive it since updating to Mavericks
Since updating to Mavericks on my Imac & MacBook I cannot receive email in Mac’s Mail - I can however send email.
In connection Doctor I am getting the green dot saying my SMTP (outgoing) is working just fine and I am getting a red dot saying my POP (incoming) is not working.
I know the settings are just fine! as Mail works perfectly in my iPhone and I can both send and receive email. I have tried resetting a hundred times to no avail. I am on own VPS server with Names Co (in the UK).
What I do know:
1) My email settings are correct - despite mail saying it cannot connect to the server becuase of number of issues such as timeout or wrong password or wrong settings ( I get various answers in connection doctor and system preferences/accounts)
2) My VPS server and website is just fine.
3) My ISP is up and running fine and does not block any ports.
What I have tried doing:
1) Changed passwords - all work fine in my iphone.
2) Tried activating and deactivating my account.
3) Tried using SSL Port with password on and off - tried the other ports.

I am using defualt ports 25, 465, 587 for outgoing
and SMTP 995 for incoming using SSL with password (have tried without)
These are the settings that I used to use and it all worked fine and is still working fine in my iphone.
I have tried all the outgoing ports.
