Capital One Credit Steps increase plus a little EO help

I recently had my 6th statement cut on my QS1 Cap One card.  I was able to get an increase from 500 to 1500 after 3rd statement.  So the day after the 6th statement cut it increased again to 2000.  I was very happy with this but also wondered if there was any possibility of a little more available.  I have run close to 8000 through the card over the first 6 months.  I sent an email to the eo office, someone called me within about 2 hours and 3 days later I saw an additional 1000 to bring my new cl; to 3000.00.  Capital one has been amazing to me. Even when they have said no, it has been with such niceness that I can't help but smile and say oh well, Ill get it next time.

Congrats on your CLIs!!! Hopefully, next time you will earn a larger increase. Good luck!!!

  • Capital One Credit Line Consolidation LINK IS BACK UP!!!

Ok so I read last night on another site that combining limits is now available through CSR. So, I called to inquire. NOT YET. This is apparently a big thing currently at Capital One and according to person I spoke to, they are making big preparations for it. They had hoped it would be available by now. But are shooting for the next month or two. But definitely by end of year. You will see it online once it goes live and can do all your combining right there under your account. Pretty freaking awesome. So everybody hold on to all your Cap One cards for now.  UPDATE: Currently available online!! 7/8/15 UPDATE: Online link has been removed. Hopefully to fix any bugs. 7/17/15 UPDATE: Link is back up folks!

  • Capital one credit cards ....

How many Capital One cards can I have at once? Currently I have a secured card and a quicksilver card. I qualify for a platinum one too. I want to have atleast 5 total cards before I garden for a while. Thanks

Some say that up to 5, personally I have 3. I would advise that you garden now for at least 6 months. Let the accounts age and your score go up before applying for anything else.+1 Even though you're prequalified now, if you garden for a bit you'll most likely get a better APR and possibly a better SL as well.

  • Capital One credit consolidation question.....

Pondering this....I have 2 QS....one is a QS WMC and the other QS Visa.....one of the cards MUST be a zero balance to combine....so which card to have zero balance? Does the destination card have to be zero or the other way around? Which do I keep.....WMC has more benefits....this card needs to be zero to combine my QS Visa to it????

I can't see it being any other way than the card to be closed needing to be $0 balance. Pending transactions would seem like a hurdle on their end to officially close the account, so the account would need to be $0 with nothing pending so the close of the account could be automated.
Hope it all works out well for you

  • How Accurate is Capital One's Credit Tracker?

Thanks to everybody here at the forums, I just discovered Cap1's LUV button. Requested for both of my cards and received a 3k increase on my Quicksilver and 1K increase on my Journey. An hour later I noticed that my score on the Credit Tracker increased by 9 points! Does anybody know if the Credit Tracker really reflects TU's FICO score?

For several years the only credit score I had available was the Capital One Credit Tracker using TransUnion scores. While I agree that (a) it's not used by any lenders, (b) it's not as valuable as knowing one's FICO scores,  (c) it's usually lower than my FICO scores, and (d) it's only updated once a month, let me say in its defense: -it's pretty similar to the FICO scores in terms of its various calculations-it's pretty informative and gives you a pretty clear picture of where you stand-it's probably more consistent and less volatile than the FICO scores I'm the type of person who likes to see as many different scoring versions as possible, but I wouldn't disparage the Credit Tracker. For my money, it's just as good as any of theothers, and in some ways better.

  • TODAY Capital One is allowing you to COMBINE CL's!!!

Low and behold there's a link that says: Request Account Combination!!!The BIG catch is that your 1) account must be open for at least 6 months 2) 1 card must have a $0 balance and NO pending transactions. Go check it out, it will show on your screen which cards are eligible to be combined!!! BEST news ever from Capital One!!!

  • Paypal cannot transfer money to Capital One 360

I just got off the phone with a Paypal representative who I asked to help me transfer money from my Paypal account to my linked Captial One 360 checking account. He stated, in a nutshell, that Paypal does not allow transfers to Capital One 360 accounts. Period. I would take him at his word, but a quick Google search for "paypal does not allow transfers to capital one 360" yields no confirmation whatsoever, and a search for "Capital One 360" on these forums yields nothing either. It just seems extremely strange that Paypal not playing nice with a huge bank like Capital One 360 leads to no internet commentary whatsoever! Can someone explain to me what is going on? Ben

If some of you could could confirm that you either can or cannot transfer money to your Capital One 360 account from Paypal, that would be helpful.

  • Completed my Credit Steps with Capital One

I have 2 Capital One cards, The first one was just a platinum mastercard with a $300 limit, the second one was a 1% cash back platinum mastercard with a $500 limit, I got one 7 months ago and the other 6 months ago.  I requested credit limit increases about 2 or 3 months ago on both of them and they raised one from $300 to $800 and the other from $500 to $1000.  Then I chatted with them and I got both of them changed to Quicksilvers with no AF.  Now with my credit steps complete I have a $1300 limit and a $2000 limit.  I was hoping that they would give me a  bigger increase since they are QS but they didn't.  I am hoping that in 6 months I can get a much bigger cli than just $500 each.  My scores were in the high 500's when I got my first card but since then there were some collections fall off and now I am in the low 700's.  My score has jumped over 100 points in just 6 or 7 months, I think that is remarkable.

Congrats!  My QS started out at $500, then with Credit Steps it bumped up to $1500 in 6 months and then $3k after a year.  Six months later they bumped me all the way up to $9k.  Stick with them and you will be rewarded!

  • My experience with Credit Line Increase at Capital One

Just thought i'd share my experience (and contribute for the forum) to help those who seek to increase their credit line.  This is just my experience but it seems to work. A month ago i applied for and got two new credit cards after 16 years of NO credit card useage and not so good credit.  I made sure to pay off all debts including student loans and colections accounts prior to applying.  First credit card was a Credit One card with a $300 limit.  I have since cancelled them since the low limit did nothing for me.  I also got a Capital One Quiksilver One with a $3000 limit.  During the month of owning this card i: -Charge EVERYTHING on my credit card.  Made very frequent charges.  I charged everything from a $1 coke at the vending machine to my $2700 rent.  Credit card companies have high charges for merchants, this is one of the main ways they make money.  They will love you if you pay everything with their credit card so long you make your payments in full.-Once you run your balance up as high as your comfortable doing, make a payment even if it's not month end.  Do not go exactly to or over your credit limit!-Make frequent payments.  I made 4 or 5 payments within my first month of having my new credit card.  $2700 charge, payment posted.  $400 in random charges, payment posted.  $250 in random charges, payment posted. Within 3 weeks of me owning my Capital One Quicksilver One, they tripled my credit line from $3000 to $9000.  Whoohoo! That's all.  Enjoy your credit card in good health and with good creditworthness.

  • Product Upgrade & Credit Limit Increase with Capital One

Upgraded my Platinum Master Cards, I have two, to a QuickSiver Rewards an requested a credit limit increase online only received 500.00 so I sent an email to the Executive Office.  I waited two days received no responce so I called today this is what happened.  Spoke to a gentleman who said he would be my personal credit specialist today I told him that I had upgraded the cards for the rewards and the Visa signiture benefits and requested to increase the limits to 5,000.00 on each.  He told me that I had just been given a credit limit increase and he could do nothing for me.  After getting no were he offered to let me speak to his suppervisor.  Spoke to the suppervisor and ended the call with the same results, she will have someone else call me within 10 days.  My question is this the norm has this happened to others.  The number I called was one I found here in the forum.  I have had both cards for over 6 years and have always paid them on time just never used them much because of the low limits.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You need to wait 1-2 weeks, not days. They have to assist a large number of customers and they are not as big a team as the customer service people. My Cap One card started as a Plat with $500 limit a little more than 2 years ago and now it is at $8k and upgraded to a QuickSilver. Also as others mentioned, you can use the new "Combine cards" tool to combine your multiple small limit cards to a larger, more useful limit.

  • Capital One Increase, it will come

I applied for a Capital One secured card about 5 years ago and with a $300.00 deposit and over the course of the years I ended up with a credit limit of $1000.00. Upon reading several articles and several forums I took a chance and applied for the C1 QuickSilver One card and was approved for $300.00 which was low but it was my first unsecured Credit Card in a very long time. I remembered reading on the forums to immediately apply for another C1 card so i did and was approved for a Capital One Platinum card for $300.00 and was in the Step program with both cards. I use both cards all the time and paid them off but not every month. In 5 months, my QuickSilver One CLI went was a $1000.00 but my Platinum only went up to $500.00 and I wasn't happy but i was grateful and this was in January. I kept requesting an increase on the Platinum but wasn't getting a CLI. I got online today and hit the credit increase button and to my surprise, I got a $2000.00 CLI on the QuickSilver One which gave me credit limit of $3300.00 and I immediately requested a CLI on the Platinum card and I got a $1000.00 CLI to give me a credit limit of $1500.00  All i can say is be persistent and don't give up, it will soon payoff. My scores are between 620-650 so I can't wait to see how this will bump up my credit scores.

    Congrats OP!
As to a low limit QS, i was approved for a Quicksilver Visa last year for $500, no af, and it was in credit steps. 100% not the one. I mean the card doesnt say "one" and the pre-approval letter I received to apply didnt either. It did say minimum $3000 cl, but whatcha know, lucky me got 500. I believe ive read elsewhere here of other QS (not ones) with small cl. Maybe they have some sort of internal low level QS or something...

  • Another Capital One Increase...This time an increase of 4K!

Background: I opened my Capital One Quicksilver One card in February of this year with a SL of $500 and requested an increase in April. I was automatically approved for a $1,000 increase.  Fast foward to last Saturday night (7/11/15) I decided to try for another CLI because I was nearly maxing out every month on my $1,500 credit line. I needed the ability to make more purchases as well as keep my utilization down. I applied online and received the 2 -3 business day notice. So Monday (7/13) I e-mailed the EO stating my request, my desired increase ($4,000), and reasoning for that desired increase. Yesterday (7/15) I received a call from a very nice woman from the executive office. She asked me a few questions, verified some information, and told me she would be sending my request to the underwriters. She said I would hear something back in 7-10 business days. This morning (7/16) I logged into my account and my credit limit is now $5,500! I am beyond happy with the quality of customer service and the quick turnaround. I'm also enrolled in the credit steps program.  I am due for an automatic incease after my 5th payment. I just made my 5th payment a few days ago and my statement closes tomorrow! I'm curious to see if I'll get that increase as well. I would assume yes, but I'll have to wait and see.  Extra info: I pay my high balances down every month leaving about 1 to 2% utilization reporting on my card.In my EO letter I mentioned that a $5,500 credit limit would match my Discover It credit line (just started reporting)
