Capture equipment cost in project

Dear All,
need to capture the cost of equipment which uses for project,but problem is that they take equipment from stock & uses for project work & keep it back in stock after use,
How we can capture this cost in project?
please help me out.

Hi,
If you are only using some tools for which requires simple functionalities, they can be defined as PRT's. In case they need to be treated as Assets with depreciation functionality, maintenance functionality as equipments ans so on, then treating them as equipments would me more appropriate. There is one more module in SAP called ETM which has enhanced functionality over PM in handling of equipments.
Usage depends on your requirement. Consult other modules too before deciding.

  • How to Capture Multiple Cost centres and Business Unit information in a project?

    Dear Experts,
    With the help of UDA functionality in project super responsibility, I have captured Cost centre and Business unit information and this info will be used/reflected in CC and BU segments of all transactions gets recorded against that project.
    Now, our user wish to have multiple cost centres and business units to be tracked in the same one project. How is this feasible? Below example describes my requirement in a summary, please advise.
    An Indirect project is created when a defect on a machine reported from client's customer and all subsequent activities (purchases, travel to customer site to analyse and troubleshoot, purchases for any in-house analysis etc..involves costs spending internally) in resolving that defect/project involves 6 to 7 different departments (Sales, Tech Support, Quality team etc.,who actually work/travel and spend costs against project until defect resolution). And, each of the above departments will have 1 dedicated owner (project owners) to manage that project and each of these 6 or 7 owners owners will have their own cost centres (eg: 2345 - Sales team) against which they wish to see their transactions (travel, purchases during defect resolution) globally.
    So, all I want to know is how can I make one single project to accommodate multiple cost centresand business unit information to be assigned using UDA? Please let me know if I am not clear.

    I think you should use the expenditure organization on the transaction itself to derive the CC/BU. Have AA lookups and define AA rules where you look at a Exp Org to BU or Cost Center to derive accounting.

    Well, in a capital project, you collect the CIP and expense costs for each asset you are building. The same applies to retirement costs. You use a capital project to accumulate/capture costs associated with the retirement of a group asset. Oracle manuals do specifcally use the term "retirement of group assets" when capturing retirement work in process (RWIP). You would then interface the RWIP costs to Oracle Assets (the same Mass Additions process as setting up a new asset). Why they say group asset, that I do not understand? Why should it matter if it is a group asset or not, when it comes to retirement? I personally have never done this though. If we have any retirement costs, we just record directly to the general ledger - don't record any Oracle project cost. But then we don't have a lot of assets and don't retire many assets as a result. Will be interesting to see if any Oracle customer out there is actually doing this. You may have to end up going to Oracle Support to get this information. The user guide is not very information about exactly how this RWIP thing works. Make any sense?

  • Capturing refurbishment cost in breakdown order

    Dear Gurus,
    If the material is being sent outside for refurbishment through a refurbishment order and that material is part of an equipment which has broken down(a breakdown order has already been raised for that equipment), the client wants the refurbishment cost to be captured against the equipment which has broken down . Same is the case with preventive maintenance. They want to capture the cost of material sent outside through refurbishment order to be captured against the equipment undergoing preventive maintenance. How can i address the above issue? Also how is it possible to send the material outside for repair through a breakdown order?

    See There are two way as mentioned below.
    1. Just use IW36 transaction & Give main order as superior oprder on intitial screen.
    2. open the main order in iw32 & follow the path as Order -
    > create (special) ---> Sub order
    Select the refurbishment order type to sub order.

  • How to capture planned cost

    Dear experts ,
    please help me in the following scenario.
    At one of our location we have PP-PS scenario. production order is made for production in PP module.
       in that location mostly JOB production is done, there about 30 % of the total cost of equipment is given to outside contractors. our problem is how to capture that cost in budget ( WBS system is being followed ) in PO WBS is assigned.  we have created an activity and rate is maintained in KP26 for that activity so that planned cost is arrived at ( we have to capture the planned cost in production order) , our problem is in WBS amount is coming twice
    1)as remaining order plan in WBS and the available budget amount is getting reduced
    2) when the SR is made again the same amount is appearing in the commitment in WBS.and the available budget amount is reduced once again
    our requirement is budget what is to be done so that budget amount is not reduced twice , we also want to capture the planned cost in production order.

    HI,
    Inorder to get all the actual costs on activity which is actually on WBS. You can do an enhancement. This enhancement should find the all POs against PR which belongs to an activity and will repost the costs that is being posted on WBS on GR to the concerned activity.

    We added the statistical cost element of 90 category for project stock BS account.
    Now we find that some of the project stock don't have statistical cost,
    some of the project stock have statistical cost(Value type: WRTTP=11).
    How can we reconstruct the statistical cost of project stock to make it right?

    For capturing the material costs, you can use one of VPRS, EK01 or EK02 condition types. The usage of these condition types and their significance can be seen in some other thread here. There are lot of threads on these condition types.

    This should also tell you something about profit margin.
    For subtotals, there is a separate column in pricing procedure and  you can mention which subtotal a condition type or subtotal should correspond to. The subtotals range from 1 to 9 and then A to Z. The purpose of these subtotals can be seen by putting an F1 in that column or through some oss notes.

  • Planning ETM Equipment in PS Project ( SAP EC&O Solution) ...

    My question is related to EC&O solution for construction industry.
    I m planning machine hours of ETM (Equipment & Tools Management) equipment in my project. I have done all the necessary settings required and are getting requirement generated automatically in ETM planning board without making requisition note. Planning board is also letting me assign PS requirement to ETM equipment but is not allowing me to create shipping document from planning board. When i press SHIPPING button on planning baord, message appears that " NO RECIPIENT COULD BE DETERMINED" !
    Recipient and sender are mentioned in requisition note which i have avoided as i have generated requirement from my PS Project. Can anyone advise if i have to create requisition note for the requirement generated from PS Project as well or i could enter recipient in PS project as well?

    I have found answer myself.
    Recipient of ETM Requirement generated from PS Project has to be created through VD01 (Create Customer) with Project Definition as recipient type.
    This recipient type allows certain project definition to be entered in customer master data which becomes the recipient while making shipment document of equipments.

    But I m looking for the Profit center in the report (display screen), not in selection screen.
    My scenario is like, the cost was posted to WBSE with X profit center/cost center in January, now I changed the profit center to Y for the same WBSE and posted.
    Want to see thru which PC I have posted to WBSE and how much. So that I can reversal.

  • Cost / work project revenue distribution

    Hi
    I am looking at cost / work project revenue distribution results and I see that GDR created 2 lines in the revenue: one for expenditure and one for the event. I know that event was created from billing extension. The expenditure line has 0 distribution. The accrued_revenue and accrual_rate columns are set to 0. I cannot find where and how this 0 lines gets created. Is this seeded logic for cost / work type projects? Your help on this greatly appreciated.

    First Get Struture name for Transaction CJ40
    Goto SE11, and enter your structure name.eg. RKPLN
    Goto the field that holds your data (e.g.WKGXXX), and double-click on the element name. Once inside the element, do a where-used list for that element, searching tables only.
    Then go into each table, and see if you can find the one holding your data.
    E.g COEJ,COEP,COSS

    What is the best way to take screen captures/grabs and prepare them for being placed in a 720p project?

    Usually the dimensions of the monitor, but you changed it and it still took it at 1920x1200...so you got me.
    2. What would I do if I want to bring in screen captures into a 1080p project and I want to do zooms and pans on these images
    Make the dimensions larger than 1920x1080. You can do that in Photoshop. At least twice the size. Photoshop does a better upscale than FCP when it comes to stills.
    how can I take a higher resolution version of these screen captures?

    I HAVE ATTACHED SOME FINISHED PRODUCTS IN PROJECTS- WBS ,FOR WWHICH I HAVE WBS-WISE SPECIFIC BOMS AND ROUTINGS,AND WHEN I RUN MRP PLANNED ORDERS ARE CREATED FROM WHICH SIMULTANEOUSLY PRODUCTION ORDERS ARE CREATED.
    NOW WHEN I AM TRYING TO RUN THE  ASYNCHRONOUS COSTING THROUGH CJ9K,UNLESS OTHERWISE PRODUCTION ORDERS ARE CREATED ,MY PLANNED COST FROM THE PRODUCTION ORDERS DONT FLOW TO MY PROJECTS,AND THE SYSTEM GIVES ME AN ERROR SAYING THAT MY FOR MY FINISHED MATERIAL COST COULD NOT BE DEERMINED.
    HOW CAN  I INSTEAD RETRIEVE THE PLANNED ESTIMATE COST IN PROJECTS FROM THE BOMS AND ROUTINGS,RATHER THAN FROM THE PRODUCTION ORDERS.

    I know that accessing the VA01 / VA02 t.codes will kill the performance.   Is there any other t.code available in CO to update the unit cost estimate for sales order.  Or if any function modules?
