Capturing the original instance of a class

My applet has a main panel (Class A) which invokes a pop-up window (Class B). A database update is made through the pop-up window and I'd like a message field on the main panel to say 'Data updated'. My question is how can the pop-up window (Class B) capture the original instance of the panel (Class A) rather than create a new instance of the panel.
Thank you.

Could you please clarify how this would be handled if a panel object (Class A) doesn't create an instance of itself in its constructor. Instead it creates an instance of a connection class (Class C) which it then passes to a pop-up window object(Class B). How might the panel object (Class A) be updated by the pop-up window object (Class B).
The constructor of Class A is as follows:
Public Class A(Class C passedConnection){
super( );
thisConnection = passedConnection; }
Thanks again.

• How to deal with the old instances of any class?

Hi,
I have a doubt regarding the old instances of any class. Currently i am designing a game in java swing. I have a new game button, which creates a new game instance of the game class. There might be conditions that the old game is finished and user has clicked for new game button. The old game instance is no more useful for me. In fact that old instance must be deleted from the memory and a new instance should reside in the memory until user again proceed for a new game.
I want to ask that how to destroy old instances of any class?
Thank you.

All you can do is remove any reference to it:
myGame = null;If that was the last reference then it will be eligible for garbage collection and it MAY be collected.And note that there's rarely a good reason to do this. In most cases, simply letting things go out of scope when the method that uses them ends is sufficient. About the only time you need to explicitly set something to null like this is, for example, if you're implementing a collection class and you want to remove an entry.

• Is the preview seen when capturing the original full quality

This is a very basic question I know - but ...
when you are capturing footage, is the preview shown in the Log and Capture window using the original full quality or is it applying some compression by the preferrences selected?
I am capturing from a BetacamSP tape and the quality looks crap - so wondering if it is from my capturing or the original tape.

Hi Sara, I do a LOT of video for the web and computer display. I guess the first thing I would say is don't panic. And don't pay any attention to the capture window-- it IS only a reference.
To make yourself feel better, immediately export one of your captures to either 640 x 480 or 320x240 QT in the codec desired and take a look at it. In QT Pro, there's a setting somewhere to play at best quality or somesuch. Be sure to turn that on.
You'll see that your clip looks just fine. It might even surprise you how good it does look...

• Where can I find the original code for class in Java API

I am learning Java programming and wanted to see how professionals handel all cases. Can anyone tell me where I can find the original implementation code for classes in Java API? It would be a great help for me.

the basic source is where you installed java in a file called java.src, its either in the main dir of one of the sub dirs ( mmm ), contains all the source code for all the classes in the api.

• Managing Multiple threads accessing a single instance of a class

Hi,
i have to redesign a class, say X, in such a way that i manage multiple threads accessing a single instance of the class, we cannot create multiple instances of X. The class looks like this:
Class X{
boolean isACalled=false;
boolean isInitCalled=false;
boolean isBCalled=false;
A(){
isACalled=true;
Init(){
if(!isACalled)
A();
B();
C();
isInitCalled=true;
B(){
if(!isACalled)
A();
isBCalled=true;
C(){
if(!isACalled)
A();
if(!isBCalled)
B();
}//end of class
Init is the method that would be invoked on the single instance of this class.
Now i cannot keep the flags as instance variables coz different threads would have differrent status of these flags at the same time, hence i can make them local, but if i make them local to one method, the others won't be able to check their status, so the only solution i can think of is to place all the flags in a hashtable local to method INIT AND INITIALIZE ALL OF them to false, as init would call other methods, it would pass the hashtable reference as an additional parameter, the methods would set the flags in the hashtable and it would be reflectecd in the original hashtable, and so all the methods can have access to the hashtable of flags and can perform their respective checks and setting of flags.
This all would be local to one thread, so there's no question of flags of one thread mixin with the flags of some other thread.
My question is :
Is this the best way, would this work?
In java, everything is pass by value, but if i pass the hashtable reference, would the changes made inside the called method to the hashtable key-value would be visible in the original hashtable declared inside the calling method of which the hashtable is local variable?

In Java object variables are passed "by copy of reference", and primitive variables "by value".
The solution with HashMap/Hashtable you suggest is ok, but I think you should read about ThreadLocal class:

• BPM an Mapping: Get the workflow instance number?

Hi everybody,
wen need in some cases the message-ID that was generated in message-mapping.
But when I take this message-ID and try to find it via SXMB_MONI the message could'nt be found due to reasons I do not know.
So now I would like to capture the BPM instance number. Is this possible in message-mapping?
Thanks regards
Mario

I doubt you would be able to get the BPM instance no. However, I don't understand why u r facing problem with message ID.

• Reinstall Premier Elements 11 after the original installation drive failed. Error 1327.Invalid Drive

I am attempting to reinstall Adobe Premier Elements 11 from DVD on a Windows 7 64bit system. The drive that hosted my original instance has failed. It was installed on a secondary drive, E that, sadly, is no longer with the system. In the reinstall process I am removing the original instance, as seemes to be required, but I enconter the error "Error1327.Invalid Drive: E:\".
How do I proceed with getting Adobe Premier Elements 11 back on my system?
Note: Similar problem with Photoshop Elements, except that no errors are encountered, it just fails to launch as it appears to have pointers back to the failed drive.

You would have to manually edit that info from the Registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software and possibly also manually empty the Windows installer cache. Perhaps soem alternate "Uninstaller" like Revo can help you clean out this stuff...

• How to make a copy of an instance of a class?

Hi,
If I create a somethingk like a datagrid and filled it with data during runtime, and then I would like to display the datagrid in another place at the same time. So how to make a copy of the datagrid with the data filled?
Thanks.

Hi webvalue, do you wish to display the same data that this DataGrid is using? If so just create a new DataGrid instance and give it the same data as its dataProvider. For example the code below uses two DataGrids that both consume the same data:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute"
applicationComplete="init(event)">
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
private var _dp        :Array;
private function init(e:Event):void
_dp = [
{label:"FlashGen.Com", data:"http://www.flashgen.com"},
{label:"Adobe", data:"http://www.adobe.com"},
{label:"Flex.org", data:"http://www.flex.org"},

</mx:Script>
<mx:Panel x="10" y="10" width="600" height="207" layout="absolute" title="Multiple DataGrids using the same data source">
<mx:DataGrid id="dg2" dataProvider="{_dp}"  left="0" top="0" bottom="0" width="50%"/>
<mx:DataGrid id="dg1" dataProvider="{_dp}" right="0" bottom="0" width="50%" top="0"/>
</mx:Panel>
</mx:Application>
Cloning a DataGrid component doesn't seem to be the right solution given the information you have provided. If you wanted to reuse the DataGrid in a separate view you could always reparent it to the new view by removing it from the current views displaylist and adding it to the new views displaylist like the example below illustrates, here I'm moving the DataGrid (dg) from one Panel component (dghost) to another (dghost2):

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute"
applicationComplete="init(event)">
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
private var _dp        :Array;
private function init(e:Event):void
_dp = [
{label:"FlashGen.Com", data:"http://www.flashgen.com"},
{label:"Adobe", data:"http://www.adobe.com"},
{label:"Flex.org", data:"http://www.flex.org"},
private function moveDataGrid(e:MouseEvent):void
dghost.removeChild(dg);
dghost2.addChild(dg);

</mx:Script>
<mx:Panel id="dghost" x="10" y="10" width="300" height="207" layout="absolute" title="DataGrids original parent container">
<mx:DataGrid id="dg" dataProvider="{_dp}" right="0" bottom="0" top="0" left="0"/>
<mx:ControlBar>
<mx:Button label="Move DataGrid" click="moveDataGrid(event)"/>
</mx:ControlBar>
</mx:Panel>
<mx:Panel id="dghost2" x="10" y="225" width="300" height="207" layout="absolute" title="DataGrids original parent container">
</mx:Panel>
</mx:Application>
While you could clone the DataGrid, when dealing with display objects it's often easier to reparent them as you are only moving it from one view to another; this has the added benefit of saving on memory as you still only have the original instance of the DataGrid not that instance and a new "cloned" instance.
I hope that helps provide additional options beyond just cloning

• Getting the original values in table maintenance and the new one and send t

Hello experts,
In table maintenance, I need to capture the original values in that selected column/field and
also the new one and send it to email. For example, I have a field in my z table named zaddress and whenever
the user changes the contents of that selected row I need to get/fecth the original value and the new and send it to email.
So the email will be something like this:
Dear Admin,
Changes were made to ztable. Here are the changes:
Customer : Customer 1
Order no : 1
Original Address : example address A
New Address : example address B
NOTE: Do not reply to this email.
Again, thank you guys and have a nice day!

Hi Vijay,
1.
If u r using Modulepool programming to change the field contents ,u just capture field value into one variable .This is possible in PBO.before displaying .once u change the field value and press something ,now capture changed value in another variable .This is possible in PAI.After pressing something to modify Database.
I think u can get one idea after reading this .
2.

• Capture the exceptions from BW Bex Report in a class/interface

Hi....
I am trying to capture the exceptions defined in the BW BEx Reports in a class (superclass - CL_RSR_WWW_MODIFY_TABLE) in a variable or something.
This is actually to change the properties of a table in Web Applcn. acc to the exceptions by altering the cell content in the class(Transaction - SE80).
Is it possible to store the exceptions in a variable in the class???

Hi Smriti,
Exception and Exception Handling can be based on classes in ABAP Objects. In an exception situation, an exception is represented by an exception object –
i.e. an instance of an exception class. Its attributes contain information about the
error situation. Exception classes can be defined both locally and globally. When a class based exception is raised, the system interrupts normal program flow and tries to navigate to the suitable handler.
An exception can only be handled if the causing statement(s) is enclosed in a TRY-ENDTRY block. If a exception occurs in a TRY block, the system first searches for a CATCH statement (which will handle the exception) in the same block and then step by step upwards in all enclosing TRY-ENDTRY blocks. If it finds one, it navigates to this handler, else if TRY-ENDTRY block is in a procedure, it then tries to propagate the exception to the calling program. After exception occurs, system searches through the listed exception handlers in specified order and executes first handler whose CATCH statement contains the relevant exception class or one of its superclasses.

For division by zero, the runtime system raises the exception *

to the appropriate instance is stored in the data object z_ref_exc. *
CATCH cx_sy_zerodivide INTO z_ref_exc.

The only observations are that the backup drive is deemed too small and the quite long list of diagnostic reports dated between Jan 18, 2015 (which I believe is the day I upgraded to Yosemite) & today the latest Yosemite update was installed on Jan 28, 2015
Any further assistance will be appreciated

• What is the difference between instance variable and class variable?

i've looked it up on a few pages and i'm still struggling a bit maybe one of you guys could "dumb" it down for me or give and example of how their uses differ.
thanks a lot

Instance is variable, class is an object.What? "Instance" doesn't necessarily refer to variables, and although it's true that instances of Class are objects, it's not clear if that's what you meant, or how it's relevant.
if you declare one instance in a class that instance
should be sharing within that class only.Sharing with what? Non-static fields are not shared at all. Sharing which instance? What are you talking about?
if you declare one class object it will share
anywhere in the current program.Err...you can create global variables in Java, more or less, by making them static fields. If that's what you meant. It's not a very good practice though.
Static fields, methods, and classes are not necessarily object types. One can have a static primitive field.

Hi Manish,
It seems that you are using a custom security provider and the weblogic server is not able to find the class / jar file that contains the class.
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Failed to load class com.msl.security.providers.SessionPrincipal]
Make sure you have all the required jar files in the server classpath.
You can use the JarScan utility to find the jar that contains the class.
Refer the below link regarding the jarScan.

• I'm on vacation and my laptop was stolen. Is there a way to find my serial number without the original packaging? I bought those apple classes when I bought the laptop

I'm on vacation and my laptop was stolen. Is there a way to find my serial number without the original packaging? I bought those apple classes when I bought the laptop.

Sorry my error. It only shows the computer name not the serial number. Go with "themachead" response copied below:
In your Apple ID - Profiles:My Products if you filled it out. Not only that you might be able to, via Apple ID & iCloud sign up/in and activate find my Mac. If you have not activated iCloud you can do that too.

• If I want to keep the quality of the original captured footage(from the tapes),what format should I?

I captured canon hv20 by firewire to my computer with adobe premiere elements 11. After capture, I have cutted clip three times. Then I want to export my computer because of I watch on my 46 inches full hd lcd television. If I want to keep the quality of the original captured footage (from the tapes), what format should I? I choosen mpeg 1440x1080i 24, it alerts error. Or i chosee avchd 1920x1080p, then it is too larger than captured scenes. I think it is 20000MB but captured scened (without cut) only 11.2 gb. Please help me. Thanks very much.

File size and Bitrate and Quality are interrelated. From what I have read, the bitrate for your HDV footage from the PAL Canon HV20 camcorder should be about 25 Mbps (megabits per second). If you did a HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements, you should MPEG2.mpg file on the Timeline.
When you did your export
Publish+Share
Computer
MPEG
using Presets = MPEG2 1440 x 1080i25, did you make any changes in the settings under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the preset?
When you look at the settings in the Export Settings dialog for the MPEG 1440 x 1080i25 preset, you will see the default bitrate settings
Minimum = 18 Mbps
Target = 25 Mbps
Maximum = 30 Mbps
The program's export bitrate may be higher than that of your source media, resulting in the increased file size. You can check out the bitrate, using the properties readout from a free program such a MediaInfo
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
You could experiment with different bitrate, trying to maintain the quality as you decrease the maximum bitrate from 30 Mbps downward to reduce the file size.
The file extension of your export should be .m2t, .mpg. So, your export is MPEG2.m2t. I find that that type of file will playback in Windows Media Player, but not QuickTime (latest version). This particular export would be the closest to the source media properties.
But, right now I would try to perfect the MPEG2 1440 x 1080i25, experimenting with the bitrate to bring the file size into line with the source file and still maintain video quality. The AVCHD.mp4 suggested by Ann Bens is a prime candidate quality wise. If size becomes a factor, you might want to explore a 1920 x 1080i25 or 1440 x 1080i25 Windows Media Video 9.wmv file which we can discuss in more detail depending on how things are going.
Please review the above and then let us know how we can help.
Thanks.
