Cataloguing Solaris groups

I created an OPML file of major Solaris discussion groups
that provide RSS feeds. (An OPML file is a standard file
format for sharing lists of RSS feeds such as BLOGs. More
on this later.) It can be downloaded here:
    http://www.speakeasy.org/~boutilier/import.xml
This is part of my attempt to start maintaining a list of
"active" English-language Solaris groups and their attributes. I've
defined "active" to mean groups that have, on average, at least a few
messages posted per day (i.e. minimum 20 msgs per week). Following
are the ones I know of. Please let me know if I've missed any.
Name                  Traffic    Native Format      RSS Feed?
comp.unix.solaris     Very high  Usenet Newsgroup    Yes
solarisx86@yahoo      High       Mail-list           Yes
sunmanagers.org       Med        Mail-list           Yes
supportforum.sun.com  Med        Browser-only        Yes
forum.sun.com         Med        Browser-only         Soon
ITtoolbox solaris-l   Low        Mail-list            No
Key:
  Very high ~=  500 - 700 msgs per week
  High      ~=  300 - 500    "
  Medium    ~=  100 - 300    "
  Low       ~=   20 - 100    "
[ Posting note: The above tables don't format properly when this message
is posted on forum.sun.com -- even though I used the `code' formatting tag ]
Although there are 6 groups in the list above, two of them don't
provide RSS feeds yet, therefore they aren't included in the
OPML file. Also, one of the RSS feeds in the file is not actually
a discussion group, it's a site that does on-the-fly aggregation of
blog entries on planetsun.org that contain the word Solaris. (The URL
for browsing the site is http://test.planetsun.com/solaris.)
=== Run-on message alert ===
The rest of this message contains some findings,
recommendations, and how-to info on the subject of RSS/OPML.
=== End Run-on message alert ===
Personally, I have an account on bloglines.com for reading RSS
feeds.  There are two really good things about Bloglines: It's
free, and it's easy for RSS newbies (like me) to get up and running
quickly. But Bloglines is web-based, and that makes it kinda slow
and klunky. So I actually recommend using a regular RSS reader app;
and since there are a lot of those out there, I went ahead and did
some "comparison shopping" on places like freshmeat.net. These are
the ones (for UNIX/Linux desktops) that piqued my interest the
most:
- Snownews:
  http://kiza.kcore.de/software/snownews
- RSSOwl
  http://rssowl.sourceforge.net
- Sage
  http://sage.mozdev.org/
- Thunderbird and Mozilla also added RSS capabilities recently, but
I think they lack a lot of features (like importing OPML files) that
are standard with dedicated RSS readers and the bloglines service.
To import the OPML file into a bloglines account, click on:
My Feeds (tab near the top left corner)
    Edit (just under the tabs)
      Import Subscriptions (bottom of page)
To import it into RSSOwl, see:
http://rssowl.sourceforge.net/tutorial/en/ht_eximprint.html
To import it into Snownews, see:
http://kiza.kcore.de/software/snownews/download/patches/opml2snow

  • Person Responsible for Task is blocked for update in task catalogue in notification

    Hi experts ,
I don't understand how come in one of my notification type, the field named "Responsible" , is open for update , however in anther notification type it is closed (the background of the field is light blue instead of white. white meaning open for update)
Both notification types consist of Task catalogue, Task sub screen, but different catalogue profile  (the catalogue profile suppose to determine different catalogue code groups but nothing else)
Both notification types consist partner determination procedure which consist one identical partner function Person responsible (code: VW)
    Please advice.
    Thanks ,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
possible reason could be the customizing settings for the field selection in the notification. Maybe the field "Responsible" VIQMSM-PARNR is not ready for input (= only display) for the notification type you mention.
Check if the field is influenced by the notification type.

  • Catalogue issues

    Dear All
I have created a catalogue and assigned to the equipment in IE01.
In notification after enter the equipment no; I got a message at the bottom i.e catalogue profile copied from equipment.
But I am unable to see the same in the Items, Causes, Tasks and activities Tab
When I am trying to select the FL with equipment, FL it is not taking.
Further in the order with same equipment, I am unable to see catalogue (assigned in IE01) in the operations tab.
Please suggest me the possible solution with spro settings etc.
And last, what is the difference between, FL, Equipment & Notification Catalogues, can we assign the same use at all.

    Procedure as follows
    1. Edit catalogues (QS41)- create new code groups & codes under one type of catalogues say for creating all codes & code groups for object parts you need to choose catalogue type B, similarly for Damage choose C. You can create your own Catalogue type also.
    2. Define catalogue profile-(OQN6) - Assign catalogue & code groups to one profile
    3. Then assign Catalogue profile to equipment/ FL or notification etc
    4. When you create a notification & assign the reference object equipment then catalogue profile of that equipment will be copied to the notification- if the equipment do not have catlogue profile then profile of notification will maintained.
Reference object (equipment or FL) takes the priority over notification
When you assign both functional location & equipment- catalogue profile of the equipment will be copied (equipment takes 1st priority)
Then you have to assign the respective object part codes, damage codes & cause codes from the default list only

  • Steps to use Classification w service tickets- No categorization schema

I have been searching SAP help  & SDN but no luck figuring what steps I need to do to use the classification in the Service Ticket.
    1. I used the category modeler to create a 2 level schema.
1a. schema assigned to busines activity ticket in application area, parameter = subject profile, Value = ZACT00002.
    1b. status is released
1c. in the categories I assigned to a catalogue / code group / code ZACT00002 (as set up in the IMG - Catalogues, codes, profiles)
2 I assigned the DEFAULT categorization profile to my IC profile (has service allowed to 4 levels)
    3. I don't have a service product assigned but not sure I need one (nor know how to assign one)
But when I confirm a BP, the error message > >>>
No categorization schema assigned to application area (BUS_ACTIVITY, SUBJECT_PROFILE, ZACT00002)
& go to service ticket, the classification field is still empty.
Would appreciate if someone could tell me what I am missing.
Edited by: Glenn Michaels on Feb 12, 2008 2:34 AM

    Hi Glenn
The Status of the Schema should be active. You can set a Date & Time From (and To) which the schema is valid for.
Normally the default from date is set for 24 hours time, which means you wait till the schema is active before you test, however you can change this, I usually set it to 10 minutes in the future.
That is probably your main issue at the moment, once the Schema is "Active" you should have more luck.
You will need to create a Product for "Service", called INVESTIGATION. Wihout this product you'll be dogged with product related errors.
Before you create the INVESTIGATION Product you'll need to ensure a Hierachy and Category exist which the Product can belong to. I think the Best Practices guide will help you with this.
If you get stuck further, drop another hit.
    Good Luck.
    Arden.

  • Best method for Shipping Options in Ecommerce - HELP?

Hello, we are running a eshop that has numerous catalogues (product groups) and due to the nature of the products, some include shipping and others are charged at certain rates.  For example:
    CATALOG 1
    Product 1 - £10.00 - No shipping/delivery costs
    Product 2 - £15.00 - No shipping/delivery costs
    CATALOG 2
    Product 4 - £5.00 - £19 per item
    Product 5 - £10.00 - £19 per item
    CATALOG 3
    Product 6 - £20.00 - £19 per item
    Product 7 - £25.00 - No shipping/delivery costs
    Product 8 - £20.00 - £13.60 per item
If I order product 1 (no shipping), 2 x product 5 (£19 twice for shipping) and Product 8 (£13.60 shipping).
Is there a way of achieving the correct shipping amount??
I have spoken to chat support, who are as useful as a chocolate tea pot.   Adobe really, really (please) need to sort a better shipping options method - really letting the product down.
Any 'work around' solutions or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry I don't have an answer, but I love the 'chocolate teapot' analogy.

  • Issues with Samba and Solaris 10 when number of group is greater than 16

Has anyone heard if Sun plan to increase the value of ngroups_max from 16 to something larger in the next release of Solaris.
I have just upgraded Samba from version 3.2 to 3.3-3.4 and now users that belong to more than 16 groups have no access the shares.
I know the value can be increased via /etc/system but this breaks other stuff.
What I need is either Samba to take this limitation into account or SUN to overcome the restriction.

After some more digging around to help myself, I found a way to get users that belong to more than 16 Windows groups access to the Samba shares under Solaris.
Using a source copy of Samba 3.2.15
    cd source/lib
    edit util.c
around line 460 I added the following of lines of code:
    if (*num_gids >14)
    *num_gids=15;
Provided the users in question that require Samba access have the group they need within the first 15 groups, all works OK.
I presume this could also be done with latter versions of Samba, but I have not taken a look at this point.

  • QM_Code group assignment to catalogue profile

    Dear QM Consultants,
I am trying to assign one code group to catalogue profile through OQN6 transaction.
The case can be put as follows
    e.g.
    Catalogue profile     : ABCD
    It contains 4 code groups (A, B, C and D) from catalogue 9.
Each of these code groups i.e. A, B, C and D contains 4 codes as follows
    Code group          Codes
    A                           a1, a2, a3, a4
    B               b1, b2, b3, b4
    C               c1, c2, c3, c4
    D               d1, d2, d3, d4
    where small letters indicate codes
    1.     There are 3 servers as development, quality and production.
    2.     At initial data migration above data is present in all the 3 servers.
    3.     In due course of time it happened that codes were added to code group A as a5, a6 and a7   in production server directly. That means codes a5, a6 and a7 DO NOT EXIST in development and quality server.
    4.     Now at such scenario another code group Y is created with codes y1, y2, y3 and y4 in all the servers by transport request mechanism.
    5.     The requirement is to assign this newly created code group to catalogue profile ABCD though request only since production server has status as non modifiable for OQN6 transaction.
My query is, whether system will throw any errors while transporting request for assignment of code group Y to catalogue profile? Is there any solution to assign this new code group to this catalogue profile. Kindly note all the codes under this code group Y are present in all the 3 servers.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards,
    Anand Rao

    Hi Gajesh,
    Thanks for prompt reply.
Well, as suggested by you, the option may work. I need to test the same.
Other way round, I feel whatever scenario I have mentioned above it will not create any problem to assign Y code group to catalogue profile, because while assigning the request which it generates in development server; contains T352C, T352B tables only. It is not affecting QPCT or QPCD tables.
Thatu2019s why I feel it wonu2019t create any problem, but I am not so confident. Well as you rightly said, let's wait for otheru2019s opinion also.
    Have a great day ahead,
    Best Regards,
    Anand Rao

  • Primary Group and Additional Group in Solaris 10

    hi!
We've just freshly installed a Solaris 10 system. I'm very new in Solaris. There's something i noticed, and i'm not sure whether is that normal.
In the user screen in solaris management console, i notice that i'm not able to see the Primary group and additonal group list. What i can see is only the Primary group in ID format. I'm able to see it only the first time when i launch the Solaris management console or switch from one workplace to another. After right clicking on the user properties for the second time, it disappear and show only the primary group id in integer. On the left hand side of the screen, it says "The group cannot be listed. You can change the primary group 10 to another valid integer. Because of error or oversight, group membership cannot be found. You can enter a number for the primary group, but cannot choose from a list of groupnames. Also you cannot choose Seconday Group until the group info is available". "Check group files, NIS maps, or load for possible corruption. If you have not already populated appropiate files or maps, See administrator guide, Naming and Directory Services(DNS, NIS, LDAP) or docs.sun.com for LDAP see also Solaris Management console help, about the toolbox editor to manage LDAP"
Is that normal? What could be wrong here? Please advise. Thanks.

hi! Anyone can provide advise on the issue i encountered?

  • Ssh install on solaris core group installation - startup scripts?

    hi all,
i have a fresh "core group" installation of solaris 11/06 now up and running.
I have added the following pkg to get ssh running.
    bash-3.00# pkginfo |grep ssh
    system SUNWsshcu SSH Common, (Usr)
    system SUNWsshdr SSH Server, (Root)
    system SUNWsshdu SSH Server, (Usr)
system SUNWsshr SSH Client and utilities, (Root)
system SUNWsshu SSH Client and utilities, (Usr)
so it is installed. I have manually created ssh_host_keys and I can start and use sshd/sftp -server. However I'm in need to find the best way of starting this up at boot. I have followed a link to Sun Blueprints for open ssh startup scripts.
    http://www.sun.com/blueprints/tools/ > secureshell-tools.tar.Z
however this relies on prng (psuedo random number generator). my "default installation" of solaris 10 11/06 does not have this installed and ssh works fine, so I am reluctant to go down prng path.
furthermore searching my "default installation" of solaris 10 11/06 i can not see any ssh startup scripts that I could heist
    please advise best practice

    fixed for now
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/selfheal/smf-quickstart.html > Enabling and disabling services
    since solaris 10, use "svcadm"
    ie
    mybox86# svcadm enable network/ssh:default
    very nice.

  • AUDIT action (create, delete, privilege escalation, set and change password from users account and group) users and admins in Solaris 10

    Hello.
in Solaris 10 i need auditing process create, delete, privilege escalation, set and change password and etc... from users account and group.
    I set settings:
    in file syslog.conf:
    *.info;mail.none;cron.none;audit.notice            @IP-Remote-syslog-server-SIEM
    in file   /etc/security/audit_control:
    dir:/var/audit
    flags:lo,ad,ex,cc,am,no,fc,fd
    minfree:20
    naflags:lo
    plugin:name=audit_syslog.so;p_flags=lo,ad,ex,cc,am,no
    in file   /etc/security/audit_user:
    root:lo,ad:no
Now I see in the logs only the fact of a connection via SSH and run processes on behalf of users. Creation. delete users, change passwords for some reason do not is logged.
Many users. For each individual write permissions in the file /etc/security/audit_user not possible, it is likely to forget any new user (or there is a possibility in this file one line to describe the audits for all accounts?)
    Where is the mistake?

You are most likely hitting Bug 15779000 user/role/groupadd/mod/del don't audit their use.
And the fix is only available in S11.2.

  • Solaris 10 install ZFS dependencies not satisfied in default group

I'm installing solaris 10 (No I'm not allowed to upgrade to 11) on VMware and I'm trying to keep the installation small. I'm attempting to install the "Reduced Networking Group" but I get this error:
"The default packages included in the selected metacluster do not satisfy the dependencies of the options you have selected. You must select "Custom" and resolve these dependencies. The following dependency has been created:
    1. ZFS(Usr) in "Zettabyte File System" depends on "The Python interpreter, libraries and utilities" in "GNOME Runtime".
So I tried doing the Custom install and selecting that dependency, but it creates another 3 dependencies. Which in turn create 5 more dependencies etc.
I tried searching google, but couldn't find any information about it. How do I get around this?

That's the MBR label on the disk. That's easy to modify with fdisk.
Inside the Solaris partition is another (VTOC) label. That one is harder to modify. It's what you see when you run 'format' -> 'print' -> 'partition' or 'prtvtoc'.
To resize it, the only method I'm aware of is to record the slices somewhere, then destroy the label or run 'format -e' and create a new label for the autodetect device. Once you have the new label in place, you can recreate the old slices. All the data on the disk should be stable.
Then you can make use of the space on the disk for new slices, for enlarging the last slice, or if you have a VM of some sort managing the disk.

  • Map UNSPSC code to Material Group for punch-out catalogues

    Hi All,
can anyone share an experience with the best way of mapping UNSPSC codes to Material Groups for punch-out catalogues.
I've been looking at the Schema config under the Content Management section in  the IMG (Supplier Relationship Management > SRM Server > Master Data > Content Management > Mapping for Schemas) but can't really find any docuemtnation to describe exactly how this can be used.
I guess the alternative option is to create a custom table and use the BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER BADI but if this can be done as standard using config rather than ABAP developemnt that would be a preferable solution.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi,
Best way is to activate the BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER BADI. this encompasses or can be customized accordingly to
    1. To map UNSPSC with Product Categories/Material groups (however custom z table needs to be created which does the mapping)
    2. Some supplier catalogs will send  too much information, most of which is not necessary for SRM, here whatever is needed can be filtered out
This BADI overall enriches the data transferred from the supplier.
    hope this helps!
    Thanks,
    Prashanth
