CFFTP, CFLDAP and securing passwords

Good afternoon. I have several applications which use tags
such as CFFTP and CFLDAP. These applications do not prompt for user
input, but rather automatically supply the application with the
username and password required from a DB lookup. Currently, the
passwords are stored in plain text in the DB (SQL 2K)...yes, I
know...HORRIBLE!!! How do I secure these passwords or at least
secure passing the passwords to the tags, so that they are not in
plain text? Since I am automatically supplying these passwords, I
can't use salting and hashing, right? Your expedient assistance is
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Chris,
You should really be storing your passwords with a one-way
hash in your database but that won't help with the SFTP problem. If
you are using SFTP the passwords are not sent to the server in
plain text anyway, the only difference is that you are giving it
over to the sftp tag from a query column, which is in plain text
anyway. If I understand correctly you would want to retrieve the
usernam and password from the database, encrypt the password, pass
the username, password and encryption key to a function that would
then unencrypt the password and pass it to the SFTP tag? You have
to give an unencrypted password to the tag since I imagine the
password on the server is also not encrypted.
That seems like a lot of overhead for absolutely no increase
in security.

looks for the logs as why they were down. You can bring the managed server up by running the command
sh ./startManagedWebLogic.sh bi_server1 http://hostname:7001> start_bi_server1.log &
inorder to start the above without password you need to add the username and pwd in boot.properties under /MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/security and for admin server /MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/AdminServer/security
and start the OPMN processes using command line ./opmnctl startall
if any of the serivces wont start check the logs

The reset link will only send reset info to your rescue email address, an alternate email address is not used for account security. If you don't know what your rescue email address is (you won't be able to view/change it until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

Refreshed foxfire; now plugins and security (password requests) are screwed up.

Recently picked up a virus. Did the things you would expect including malware and add-on elimination. The ad ware problem is fixed. I "refreshed" foxfire in the process of the above. Now I am prevented from installing any add-on. Foxfire prevents it and when I say allow, it tells me there is a communication problem. Also, I use LastPass as my password program and I can't get back to working as it should (auto login and passwords).
Also, foxfire gives a screen saying "password required" and then "please enter the master password for the software security device". I never set FFire with a password and can't understand why all these security roadblocks are now present.
I hope this helps you. I need some advice to solve this.

For users who have one or more builds from mozilla.org this will not work.
It would be best to have the full path so if you had placed the untared contents
in a folder in /home it would be /home/<username>/foldername/firefox/firefox –P
An easy way would be not to do it in a terminal but in say a launcher since
you have to point it to the firefox script in Firefox folder you can then add –P
on end. You can also have the exact "profilename" after the -P so Firefox
will start with that Profile.

ID and security question

Please help! I have one more attempt before i'm locked out. My BB Q5 is suddenly not reckognising my password, even when i answer my security question prompt it still doesnt work. I'm sure i havent changed it all (wouldnt know how to!!) so what is going on? I can't reset my password with out it if that makes sense!

Your BBID password and SECURITY password are TWO different things. Well, the password could be the same, but the purpose is different.
So, are you trying to your Security password, or your BBID password, and where are you entering this?

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

You can bypass the password and wipe the drive and return to the original facory installation if the seller included the orginal install DVDs with the Mac mini. If not you will need a retail version of Mac OS X. To boot from the Install DVD restart the mini, immediately slip in the DVD and press and hold the C key.

Start here, and reset your password, you will receive an email with your new password, then go to manage your account > Password and Security and change your security questions.
