Change Excel Layout exported from 0analysis_pattern

Dear All,
I would like to add some items such as user name, time, variable...etc to the excel after clicking on the "print to excel" button from standard web template(0analysis_pattern); Currently it's showing report name and exception only.
  Any idea?
Points will be awarded.
Thanks a lot
Charlie

Hi,
The answer is very simple. You cannot use the old 0ADHOC web template. in the new BEx Web new templates must be used (the structure of the templates was changed).
What you can make is to copy 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN and modify it to your needs. (see also forum: Add new chart types)
Modifications can be done with the new Web Application Designer.
For all other old templates you need to run migration (WAD -> Tools -> Migration Wizard). But on some advanced web templates it is better to rebuild it with the new functionality)

• Problem opening excel files exported from Discoverer Plus 10.1.2.48.18

I can't open excel files (xls) exported from Discoverer Plus 10.1.2.48.18 when I enable macros. The application (Excel) hangs up.
Someone have any idea about this?
Thanks,
Diego

Hi Meifang
I did some more research and found a document on MetaLink 250820.1 that talks about Discoverer not being able to call Excel if Discoverer is running via an IP address instead of a qualified domain name.
The article talks about making Discoverer a trusted site in the Internet Options of IE. Here's the relevant info from the posting:
Workaround for MS IE (if necessary):
1. Open a new MS IE browser
2. Navigate to: Tools | Internet Options Security where you will see the Trusted Sites icon (green icon with a check mark)
3. Click the Sites button
4. Add the following: http://IP:port/
(where IP, port are the location of where Discoverer server is running)
5. Click the OK button
6. Click the OK button again
On my own PC, I was having a similar problem and I was unable to get Excel to launch. In the end I did this:
1. Open a new MS IE browser
2. Navigate to: Tools | Internet Options | Security where you will see the Local Intranet icon (computer icon against a globe)
3. Click the Local Intranet button
4. Click the Sites button
5. Click the Advanced button
6. Add the following: http://IP/ or http://website
(where IP or website are the location of where Discoverer server is running)
7. Click the Add button
8. Click the OK button
9. Click the OK button again
10. Click the OK button a third time
With this done, I made sure that my Explorer settings were correct by doing the following to ensure that a couple of settings for the .xls & .html file types are unchecked:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Navigate to: Tools | Folder Options | File Types tab
3. Highlight the Extension XLS (or HTML)
4. Click the Advanced button
5. At the botton of the screen are three settings that use checkboxes. If either of the following two are checked, un-check them:
Confirm Open after Download and Browse in same window
6. Click the OK button
7. Click the Apply button
8. Re-boot the PC
After I did this I was successfully able to get Excel to open from within Discoverer.
Best wishes
Michael

• Need to have static text on every page of a MS Excel report exported from SSRS

I need to place an object with a brief static text message in a report using SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2.
When that report is exported to MS Excel from Report Manager and viewed, this static text object must appear "once" at the bottom of every page without using "print preview."
Furthermore, it must appear only "once" on every page regardless of both the number of groups as well as the number of records in each group.
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Mike

Hi Mike,
By default, Excel does not have a concept of a "page" in "Normal" view. So when we export the report to excel and open the file, Excel automatically hides the footers as they are displayed in "Normal" view. Since this issue is relevant to Excel, if we want
to see the page footer in Excel, we can try to switch to "Page Layout" view in the View Tab. Just as you said, they also shown up while printing.
Hope this helps.

Not sure if this can be changed within DeskI options, but it can be changed within Excel. Go to File, Page Setup. In the Sheet Tab, there is "Row and Column Headings" check box in the Print section... deselecting this will stop these being printed.... I'm using Excel 2003...

• Graphs / Images not visible in Excel when exported from BI Publisher

When attempting to view a report containing a graph in Excel format from BI Publisher, if you select the View button, the graph image is successfully rendered on the Excel report page.
When selecting the Export button, however, the image is not successfully rendered, and an image placeholder is substituted on the report.
I have changed the web.xml file setting on the server under:
C:\oracle\bise1\bi\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\xmlpserver\xmlpserver\WEB-INF\web.xml
Here I changed the SecurityFilter Filter Mapping
from:
<url-pattern>/xdo/tmp/*</url-pattern>
to:
<url-pattern>/xdo/tmp/*.tmp</url-pattern>
This was successful in facilitating image rendering in Excel in the first place, but not when the Export button is used.
Note: BIP Version is 10.1.3.2.1
Excel Version is Excel 2007
Any assistance with this will be most appreciated.

• Why was formatting removed from Export to Excel when exporting from PWA 2013?

We have recently moved from using Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2013 and one thing that we have noticed is that when we Export to Excel all the formatting has been removed and all the task grouping and alignment has been flatted.
Why did Microsoft remove this feature from the Project Server 2013?
Is there an easy way for anywhere there is an Export to Excel option on the Ribbon to add the formatting back?
What is the best solution to still retain the indents, bolding, and grouping?

Jason --
I can confirm your findings with exporting PWA pages in Project Server 2013 to Excel.  As to why Microsoft removed the feature previously found in Project Server 2007, I have no idea, as I do not work for Microsoft.  I do not believe there is any
way to force the Export to Excel feature to work the same in 2013 as it did in 2007.  I think it will be up to the user to format the exported Excel workbook as needed.  Hope this helps.

• Arabic data shows Junk in Excel when exporting from oracle Apps Screen.

I have an Oracle Apps 11i with Arabic language enabled.
When i export some screens from Oracle Apps to Excel from my Desktop the Arabic letters dispalys as Junk in the Excel.
Do i need to apply any patch?
Regards
Arun

Arun,
You do not need to apply any patches. What is you application/database characterset? What is the application release?
Does this happen on the clients or on specific ones only?
Please set Windows environment variables as follows:
- Go to Control Panel > Regional Options
- Standard and formats: Make sure it is set to "Arabic (<Country>)"
- In the Advanced tab, choose "Arabic (<Country>)"
- Check "Default user account settings"
- Click Apply and retest the issue

• Filtering report in Excel after exporting from SSRS

Hi All,
I have created a basic report which has 3 groupings Region,Country and Cities. I have the measures as Total Amount and Total Quantity. I have also added Subtotals to all the 3 groupings. The users now want to export the report to excel
and then filter on country or state or city. Say for example if i select the country as Region as East and Country as India and I select few cities, i need to get the subtotals and other details dynamically. The report needs to behave similar to the pivot
tables created in excel.
Please let me know how to achieve this.
Thanks,
Ram

Hi,
As far as understand from your Query, you can apply filters in the Reports based on Region , Country and City.
Send these filters to your Query and accordingly the report will show up with New Subtotals.
Check the link below if you are not sure of parameters.

• Change Table layout from Row perspective to a Columnar perspective

I have a request from our users to change the layout from a Row type display to a columnar type display.  The column may contain values of different types like floating point, character, dates, strings etc.   Examples are shown below.  My first thought was to use MS Office Integration with Excel.   Using Excel to display the values and use ABAP when processing needs to take place.
Can the values of the Excel spreadsheet be loaded, retrieved and manipulated using methods in the view? High level process below.
1. load a blank excel spreadsheet into the view
                 2. read an SAP table
                 3. load values read from the SAP table to the blank spreadsheet.
                 4. manipulate the data
                 5. save data in the spreadsheet back to sap table
Are there other ways to switch from a row type layout to a columnar type layout that I'm not familar with?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi all.
I guess this would be possible if you export the table to Excel and process it
before you bind it to the OFFICE_CONTROL. In the OFFICE_CONTROL you can
write an action for the on_save event and try to get the entered data back from the
excel document bound to the control and write the data into the data base.
But I never processed excel sheets with ABAP so you have to ask this question in the ABAP Forum I guess.
WebDynpro offers only the above emntioned things for working on office documents.
Hope this helps a bit,
Sascha

hi folks,
when exporting from alv to excel and we have negative values (and using an u.s.a. setting where . and , are different to r/3) negetive values are not shown correctly in excel.
when changing in win nt the regional settings to europe one's (e.g. germany) everything works fine.
any hints welcome,

I guess this has something to do with the excel settings. In the control panel you have regional settings.try some options there. It might work.
