hi
kindly check if the 'base method'  derives percentage from Useful life, if so, the system will not allow you to assign the multi level method with a %.

  • Different depreciation rates in different years

    Hi ,
    I have come across a situation in which client wants that different depreciation rates should be charged in different years.
    For example 10% in 1st year, 7.5 % in 2nd year, 6 % in 3rd year, 4.5% in 4 years and so on .
    Asset life should be assumed to be 10 years .
    How can we map this in SAP.Please provide detail explanation.

    Dear,
    Nike Sam.
    I supposed your issue seems relating to MACRS depreciation I think. If so then you have to use the multi level method in depreciation key.
    Please note the your case is like MACRS depreciation so according to me you will get standard depreciation key for MACRS is
    M200 & M150. However you can study them & configure as suits to your needs.
    Perfom this on test client first. If you have any doubts feel free to share. You are welcome.

  • Depreciation rate change from a particular date

    Dear Guru's
    Can any body help me,  In my plant machinaries working 2 shifts now it is working only 1 ****.
    my client is asking can we change the depriciation rate from a particular date onwards.  If we change the depriciation from a particular date what impact will be there,  is it will effect old values ?
    please suggest me.
    Regards
    Chandu

    Hi
    Yes, we can change depreciation rate from a particular period/ year onwards.
    For that you have to do configuration in Multilevel method ( T. Code AFAMS ). But you can not keep rate as per date. Suppose, for 2008, you want to maintain rate 210 upto 10 % and from 7th period, rate will be 20%, then
    AcqYear     Year         Period      Base Value     Rate        Reduct
    2008            1               6                1               10                 -
    9999           999            0                  1                20              -

  • Change depreciation rate

    Hi Eveybody
    i want to change depreciation rate.. what is the procedure to change the same...
    thanx in advance
    sanju

    Hi Sanjay
    Change of depreciation rate can be in the depreciation key.
    This change modifies the settings in the key and affects the particular asset and also assets whereever the key is being used.
    So check the impact of changing the key and the rate within.
    If assets are already impacted then check reverse using AB08, go to dep key , change the % .
    But you might have issues with prior year assets. It is possible that you cannot post because of closed periods.
    In any case, check the impact, assets affected, period and FY affected and test

  • Depreciation rate change

  • Different Depreciation Rate for Different Period

    Hi Sapgurus,
    We have legal requirement which is as follows :
    1) Asset purchase 11/02/2011 for Rs. 10000/= and it can depreciated at fixed Rate on Straight Line Method till it reaches its net book value 30 % (3000)
    For Eg.
    Purchase on 11/02/2011 for Rs. 10000/=
    It should depreciated fixed Rate @ 5% so 500/= per year and it should depreciated upt o 70 % of total value
    so 7000/500 = 14 Years.
    So Net Book Value = 10000 (Minus) 7000 : 3000/=
    2) As soon as it reaches Net Book Value of Rs. 3000/= it will be depreciated at another rate.
    For Eg.
    In 15th year it reaches Net Book Value 3000, now from that period onwards it will be depreciated at 7% Written Down Value not 5% Straight line Method.
    Also what about any old asset which is procured in previous years ?
    Awaiting for feedback
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    for this cases we use the following changeover method in the depreciation key:
    7     Changeover when net book value percent less or same as x%

  • India Tax Depreciation (group asset)

    Hi FICO experts,
        I'm having some problem with depreciation calculation for group assets to adhere to India IT Tax Depreciation  regulation. As per IT law,
      1. asset acquired <180days shall be depreciated at 1/2 of the depreciation rate for the fiscal year
      2. asset acquired >180days shall be depreciated at full rate for the fiscal year
        I've created depreciation key with period control NL and IT, and configure 2 depreciaiton area i.e 01 for book and 02 for tax depreciation in India COD. 02-Tax depreciation is configured as managed at Group asset.
        I created 2 Assets i.e Asset A and Asset B and both linked to Group Asset C. Say the depreciation rate is 15%
    1. Asset A - Acquired on P1 of 2008 --> INR10000
    2. Asset B - Acquired on P9 of 2008 --> INR10000
       A & B are linked to Group Asset C in 02-Tax depreciation area.
         When I view Group Asset depreciation, I noticed that the deprecition for 2008 computed as (1000015%)+(1000015%). Thus, although Asset B is still being depreciated at full rate of 15% instead of half of the rate.
        Besides, is that normal that I'm not able to see depreciation at Asset A and Asset B in tax depreciation area 02 when they are managed at Group. I can only view the deprecation at Group asset C?
        Appreciate help if anyone have similar experience. Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
    If you want to adhere Indian IT laws then follow the below mentioned steps:
    1. Maintain a relationship of 1:1 of AS01 & AS21, means when you create a new normal asset it should be tagged with a new group asset.
    2. Try to use SAP standard delivered dep. keys.
    3. Change asset value date determination in SPRO.
    4. Tagged group asset into the normal asset master.
    5. Check tax dep.figures under group asset.

  • Tax depreciation calculation - India

    Hi,
    For calculating Tax depreciation for India, we use group assets in asset master (dep area 15).
    SAP standard report J1IQ is obsolete and can not be used.
    How to calculate tax depreciation for India.
    Requirement for India tax depreciation is :
    An asset is put to use  < 180 days, depreciation will be 50% of the depreciation rate for that asset (say dep rate is 15%, depreciation will be 7.5% of the asset value.
    If asset is put to use > 180 days, depreciation will be 100% of the depreciation rate for that asset (say dep rate is 15%, depreciation will be 15% of the asset value).
    J1IQ is obsolete.
    Most of the consultants are facing this problem.
    What is the solution???????????

    Dear Nagesha,
    Please note that J1INQ is NOT in use and this report has been withdrawn by SAP.
    Please review the below note in this reference.
    738919 - IT Depreciation for Assets, India
    The solution for IT Depreciation Calculation is being revamped and the
    new solution shall be available in EhP5 SP02.
    The general availability of this report will be announced through this
    note.
    There is no alternative as of now for the same.
    Thanks for the understanding and co-operation.
    Have a Nice Day,
    if you are ok with the above info, then close this ticket.

  • Asset depreciation for legacy data

    Hi,
    I encounter the following problem, please input some advices.
    An asset from legacy system needed to be migrated into SAP.
    In the old system, it starts to depreciate at rate of 20% per year, but after a period of time, it changes the depn. rate into 14%, and will keep using 14% in SAP.
    My question is how to handle the changed of rate in SAP during migration? As the lump sum depreciation figures in old system in higher than 14% per year which calculated in SAP, SAP would calculate an adjustment figure and post in coming period during depreciation.
    Is it possible to maintain 2 items of depreciation attributes? Specifying the starting dep date and the rate for each period.
    Best Regards,

    No, I understand it is not possible to have one depreciation key to have different rates in it.
    The following are some examples
    17% --> 6%
    17% --> 14%
    15% --> 14%
    20% --> 14%
    Since the depreciation keys have been created for those on left hand side, I'm thinking is there a possibility that I just created two more for 6% and 14%, and telling system change of depreciation rate by specifying the date of change on each asset... Just wonder got this kind of setting or not.
    Thanks!
