Charging error.

Ever since I purchased my iPod a few months ago it was working fine until the other day when I tried to connect it to charge it after school it said that FireWire cable isn't supported and to use the USB cable it came with, but I am using the USB cable it came with... and it won't properly charge. I tried different USB ports and nothing really worked, I'm just curious if this is an issue with the cable or how I can fix it because it won't charge properly and it *****. Please help

No I don't happen to have a wall charger, my iPod only came with the cord. It charged on my laptop I believe but it won't on my USB port on my desktop computer, the weirdest part is that it was working perfectly fine and then it just stopped and continues to say I'm trying to use FireWire but it's a USB cord?

Two biggest causes of this are crud/lint in your dock connector, causing a short, thus producing that error message. So, use canned air & a soft toothbrush to clean your dock connector. Also, look for any bent pins. If that doesn't fix things, try a different USB cable.

  • New x140e battery charge error

    Hello everyone,
Bought a Thinkpad x140e a few days ago, new and sealed. Just powered it on today, and Windows is reporting a battery charge error and should be replaced. It's stuck at 7% since I plugged it in.
    What shall I do?
I updated the Lenovo power manager and tried to run the battery meter calibrate thing, but no change!
Booted into Linux just to check battery status, and it's the same problem.
    Solved!

    Hello,
It sounds like you may have obtained a unit either with a defective battery, or defective charging circuitry.
Given that you just received the system, I would suggest calling Lenovo support directly and opening a ticket with them to investigate the issue.  If it turns out to be the hardware, you can get it repaired, or perhaps return the unit for exchange to whatever store you purchased it from as DOA.

  • Battery not charging error

I have the ipad mini. After I did the update to 6.1, when I plug it in to charge it says "Not Charging" next to the battery icon.  Even though it says not charging and the battery icon doesn't show the connection, it is still getting charged. Does anyone else have this problem?  I am hoping it is a 6.1 glitch

So...after a back to the basics trouble shooting session, my ipad is free from that false "not charging" error. Whatever 6.1 did to work out other battery issues, made my aftermarket wall plug show a little short on power. That plug worked on 6.0.2, and still does fine on my iPhone on iPod.  I like the aftermarket plug because it has a better angle for the USB cable. Back to using the apple plug so I don't have to see that false error and it charges a bit faster too

iphone 4S will not charge, error that USB device not working, found any suggestions?

    Hello Chambless,
The troubleshooting steps below can help get your iPhone to charge.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation - Not Charging / Error Msg From Comp 'Attached Device Malfunctioned'

My IPod Nano 7th gen arrived last night.  I was able to turn it on and select language 'english'  When I connected it to my computer it did not recognize my iPod, so it also did not show up in iTunes,  Error message: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned.  and Windows does not recognize it."
My Nano turned off and went blank.   I have tried to reset it.  Nothing works, just blank.
No charge icon, I have tried all USB ports on my comp, but nothing works- (but my USB ports work fine)  I have read that if my iPod has not been charged fully, the computer my not recognize it.
I am now using an adapter and trying to charge it thru the wall power socket.  It has been connected for half an hour.  Still cannot turn iPod on.
I have Windows 7 running on comp.  Itunes is current version 10.7.  I have rebooted my comp several times and re-installed iTunes.
I have an iPhone and an iPod shuffle that are both synced with iTunes on this comp, they work fine.
Is my iPod broken?  Do I send it back?  Anyone else having the same problems?  Please Help !!

I had this problem as well.  I have a PC running Windows 7. I have installed the latest iTunes 10.7 software (64 bit). I reset the nano by holding down the start and home button for 10 seconds.  Then - I plugged it into a PC running Windows XP and was able to format the iPod. Ejected it and plugged it into my Windows 7 computer and then the computer recognized it and I was able to load it. There is some problem with iTunes 7 on Windows 7.

  • IPhone 4S will not start or charge, error message when trying to restore in recovery mode

So my iPhone 4S shorted out the other night while I was charging it. I did the hard reset and it restarted itself. But later that evening, it turned off and wouldn't restart no matter what and would not charge. When I connect it to my computer (mac) iTunes recognizes it and says it is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. It starts the restore process and the apple logo comes up with a loading bar but then when it gets to the "verifying restore with Apple" it gives an error message (9) and then the phone goes back. Please help!

    Hey rileyec,
I found this information about error 9:
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
via: iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
If those steps do not resolve the issue, I would attempt to perform a recovery-mode restore:

  • IPhone 4 Warranty, Third Party Charger Errors

    Hi All,
I am experiencing problems; speakers not working for iTunes, constant "This Acessory Not Optimized" message popping up, and charging difficulties, all likely due to a third party charger.  I am hesitant to send my phone in under the warranty, frankly because I don't have faith in my local Verizon representatives.  Has anyone sent their phone in under the 1-year warranty in similar circumstances?  What were the results?  Did they charge you for damage, or is this sort of error beyond that range?
Any and all advice would be valuable.
    Thanks,
    -C

Trust me if you have not had it the 14 days, The iPhone your going to want to return asap, I had mine on Friday and retuned it on Monday, It is cute mind you, However the keys as you aleready most likely know are so small your going to constantly make corrections as it will type in the wrong letter, I hated mine so bad I almost ran to the truck to return mine, and the battery life they say lasts a month, pfffft, it is most likely will last you a day if that, Mine in sleep mode went from 3/4 over night to null,
The iPhone is actually one of the best smartphones in terms of touch sensitivity and correctness when typing. Just because YOU can't type on it or have large fingers, doesn't mean other people will have the same problem. And I don't know WHERE in the world you heard that the battery lasted a whole MONTH. That's insane! There's not a phone in the world whose battery lasts a month. A day is actually a long time for a battery to last with a smartphone.
I am the one that posted about the month long battery, I had to redo my so called address to come back in and reply, notice but they deleted one of my emails I mentioned. it might have been a defect in the phone, However I was told those pens do not work by one rep as asked, as I would have used it longer, and for the battery? another rep told me that she only charges hers once a month and it had a  long battery life, I did think to self, hmmmm a whole month she is filling me full of organic material Like I tried to post once, It could be very well the phone and I am not ruling it out as far as trying it maybe some other time, It just was not what the rep sales pitch was, I do think they could improve on the headset or the wired piece as that gave me a ton of problems using it, but again it could have been the bad apple in the bunch, {No pun intended} but I returned mine fast, Just was really more then I needed and again the sales pitch was very different then what I received, and I can honestly say each person you call pretty much has a different approach, like today I got some results on a re-order by asking to speak to the supervisior, But wish all you that have it good luck, Just was not the kind of phone I liked, oh yes, another rep told me it had to feel the heat of your finger to click on the key pads, that is why she said the pens did not work, however noticed someone in the car a friend using one of those pens on her samsung galaxy she got from T-Mobile, and no, no way on this earth am I switching carriers

  • I have the iPhone 4 and I keep getting a "this accessory doesn't support charging" error message when I sync with my MBP.

It is also doing it with my car charger. Both of these have always worked fine in the past. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.

This means your iPhone has a major problem, and if the error message says connect to iTunes, you must do as provided and connect to iTunes. There isn't anything to figure out - you must connect your iPhone to iTunes as provided.

  • When charging my IPod 4th Gen I get the charging error

I have an Ipod 4th generation running on the latest Version of IOS, (6.1.3), and when ever I try to charge it, I get the 'Charging Is not avaliable with this accesory'. The charging cord is an Apple USB cord, and an LG USB to wall outlet converter. I had a previous charger that was an unofficial apple charger. It used to work, but recently Its been getting the error too. (By unofficial I mean not an Apple Product) If you have any Idea or need anymore Information Please Reply!

  • IPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.1) Charging error message

I've been using my recently purchased iPhone 6 (16gb) for about a month now. My current iOS is 8.1.1 and since the last week my charging is acting up. Whenever I connect my charger cable to my phone it keeps saying "This accessory my not be supported".
Here are the things I've tried:
I've used the USB cable supplied with the iPhone 6 box.
I've used the USB cable with a iPad connector (3 pin) to the wall socket.
Connected the USB cable with my laptop and synced my phone with the latest iTunes.
Connected the USB cable supplied with my iPad mini (2nd Generation) with my laptop to sync my phone with the latest iTunes version.
Used the USB cable supplied with my iPad mini to charge the phone.
Used a different USB cable from a iPhone 5s.
All of the above gives me the same error message. However, after leaving the USB cable connected to the phone for a while I pull the USB cable out and plug it back in... sometimes it accepts and resumes charging.
So, I'm guessing it is an issue with the latest iOS or my phone. In

  • Charging error message when charger not connected

My phone woke me up an hour early today with an error message that I was using the wrong charger for my phone.  I am using the original charger.  The message keeps repeating even though no charger is connected.

I'm sorry you're receiving this message mspammij. Are there any issues with the charger or charging port on the phone? Is either damaged? Did you start to receive this message when you downloaded a specific application?

  • Life without Lenovo Power Manager: Any thoughts? [battery issue, charging error]

A while back, we discovered the battery maintenance error, where the "stop charging at 90%" feature would cause the battery to only charge partially to like 50% but read that it was fully charged, and then it would turn off early. This was the thread. I know it's a BIOS issue, and I will update eventually, but the partial charge happened to me again, and it got me thinking:
Do I really need the Power Manager?
I use the Power Manager to configure Turbo Boost clock speed and all that, and I suppose the Turbo+ button does crank up the fan, but I can use TPFancontrol to manually control the fan, and I found that Windows power settings by itself allows me to set the clock speed however I want, using a percentage. Setting all the numbers at 45% parks the clockspeed at 1.2GHz, a good compromise for battery life and performance. The best Power Manager can do is to cycle between 700Mhz all the way up to 2.7Ghz, which throws battery life out the window.
So, will I lose anything by just uninstalling Power Manager?

Technically the answer is no, Power Manager is optional.  However, it is a good option for Windows 7 users. It does expose more power management to the user than the power settings under Control panel.
Until they release the Windows 8 version and I run it for a few weeks, I won't know what to say about that environment.

  • Not charging error?

Is anyone not able to connect there apple iPad to the computer and charge it and sync it?

Most computers, especially older ones, do not provide enough power to their USB ports in order to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and it should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off. But the most efficient way to charge it is via the wall charger that came with it.

  • Ipad 2 charger error

Hi guys! I have done a crazy thing. Accidently, the charger head was dropped into the tea, and apparently the magnetic inside not only got the water, but the particles of tea leaves!
I have tried to wipe it out, but it won't clean. And when I tried to plug it back to Ipad 2, it won't charge.
How can I clean the charger? Or is it permanently damaged? I need help!

I'd give it a few days to dry out. Some even put devices in a bag of rice (the raw/dry rice will wick away any trace of moisture). Then give it a try. It'll work or not. But, right now, if there's any moisture it could cause the charger to short out and then it will be dead.
