Charging port issues

So I see almost everyone that has the Incredible 2 has had a charging port issue. I love it how one Verizon store told me it was a known issue and another store said it wasn't. It seems like it is well known and Verizon nor HTC wants to own up to it. Everyone that has this issue should not have to pay the $99 out of warranty fee for a refurbish phone. I got to wait a month to get my upgrade. The only way my phone charges is through my laptop usb cord which is weird but not my wall charger. To be honest, I might have to switch to a different brand or maybe even go to a different carrier.

Well, when you see how many people are on here writing the same issue and a Verizon rep replying to trying to take care of it, its going to be a known issue. Even called HTC to see how much to fix through them. The gentleman has had calls in the past and recently about people complaining about the same issue. I know Verizon stores don't fix these issues in the store, but I expect better from a smartphone. All of my phones in the past never had this issue.
Regarding the service, Verizon still has the best in my area.
When you work retail, you should help a customer try to fix there issue by at least mentioning someone who can fix it.
Not just trying to sell another product. That isn't good customer service.

  • Charger port issue?

So I've been having a slight issue with my Droid X. This started yesterday. I had it plugged in and it randomly stopped charging then started again. It was quick but I saw it. It happened again today. So I'm wondering if my Droid's charger port is **bleep** up or if the tip of the charger cable is messed up. I'm assuming it's a phone issue though. Now this is my baby (second to my ASUS laptop) but i treat it with plenty of care, and I am gentle with it.

Here's the cable I purchased and it works great.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I8MUJG    I was so happy with it that I purchased 3 more for around the house.
I also picked up a DIRT cheap HDMI cable here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XNANU8  It works wonderfully as well!  I was a bit skeptical when I bought it and figured I'd just be out $5 worst case.  I was happily surprised when it worked flawlessly.
I've had both products about 2 months now and they are holding up very well.

  • Charging port issues on iPhone 4

Just now I was texting my fiancé off my iPhone 4 when all of a sudden the sound the keys make when you touch them  went out. I went to check the volume but It wouldn't change. The ringer thing showed up but no bars did. All sound works except when I lock it, unlock it, texts, calls, and the keyboard clicks  when I blow in the charging port it starts working again. Somebody Explain what's wrong please? What should I do

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Curve 8330 usb/charging port issues.

My 8330 just started to have problems with its usb/charge port. I plugged it in last night before bed like I always do, but when I woke up it hadn't charged a bit and wasn't even recognizing that it had been plugged in. I tried my USB data cable as well, and that didn't register either unless I wiggled the cord around and held it still once it did register. I eventually did get the phone to register that I had plugged it in, but I had to wiggle the cord just so and leave the charger half-way plugged in once I found the sweet spot.
It is a few years old and pre-owned, but this problem literally just cropped up. I haven't dropped it recently, and I only plug it in once a day. It has no problem holding a charge, but getting it to register the cord is a battle. Do I need to just replace it or is there a way to fix this? There are no other problems, just the port acting up. Thanks!

  • Charging port Issue

Hi, i have a Lumia 620 which was bought 6 months back. From last few weeks the Mobile automatically displays charging symbol even if the charger is not connected.I have tried the factory reset twice but no good. Can anyone help.

You'll have to ask a Care Point to look at this for you. It sounds like a hardware issue.

  • Is Apple going to address the issue with the IPhone 5 charger port?

    Hi all
I have had an IPhone for about 4 years and have had my current iPhone 5 for just over a year,I never had any problems until recently. Just before Christmas I started having issues with my IPhone not charging, I bought a new charger and the problem continued so I went into the Apple store in Newcastle, they pulled some dust out of the charger port and the issue appeared to be resolved. However after Christmas it happened again, and again I went to the Apple store, they did the same thing and the phone worked fine for a month. However, this last week the problem has come back, this time when I took the phone into the store, they tried pulling dust out the port but the phone would still not charge, I was then told that as the phone is out of warranty there is nothing they can do other than charge me £209 to fix it!!
What concerns me is that after speaking to other iPhone users and doing some online research I have discovered this is a seriously common problem. So now through no fault of my own, I am left with a phone, which doesn't work and costs me £48 a month. Another concern is that I originally took the phone to the store with this problem before my warranty ran out and was given a 'temporary fix', which made the phone last untill just after my warranty has ran out!
I am angry and disappointed, this issue needs to be addressed as the Phones appear to be like a ticking time bomb waiting to break, and for those of you like me, who this happens to you after the warranty is up, you are elft with no solution other than to pay £209!!!!

Or talk to the store manager or Apple Customer Relations and explain that you brought the phone in twice before the warranthy expired for the same problem and that there was no permanent solution, though if clearing out the debris fixed it previously, it's perhaps unlikely that they'll think it a defect. You can try, though. Just complaining here will accomplish nothing since we're all fellow users in these forums.
    Regards.

The charger port pin in an iphone 5 is broken. What are the possible solutions to this issue?

    Read: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4436
It is pretty short so here is the entire text:
    Symptoms
A purplish or other colored flare, haze, or spot is imaged from out-of-scene bright light sources during still image or video capture.
    Resolution
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.

  • Verizon Galaxy Nexus - Defective Charging Port

Bought my Galaxy Nexus in April of 2012, along with insurance on the phone. Love the phone and the pure Android experience. However, back in February, I woke up one morning and noticed that even though my phone was plugged in, the battery was not charging. I tried using different cords and my spare battery, neither fixed the issue, which meant that the charging port on the phone was defective. I brought it to a VZW store, and since the issue occurred within a year of purchasing the phone, they sent me a certified pre-owned galaxy nexus as a replacement (They had to send me three replacement phones total because the first two would not boot properly, but that's a different story.)
So here I am, 5 months later, and I woke up one morning and discover the same issue. Phone is plugged in (using the original charger that come with the original phone by the way), but it is not charging. Won't charge with a different cord, won't charge with a different battery, which means that the port is defective. I take the phone to the Verizon store, and am informed that A) my year-long warranty has run out, so if I want to replace the phone I will have to pay full retail price for it, and B) The default insurance plan on these phones only covers cracked screens or lost devices. The VZW support rep actually suggested that I damage the screen on the phone before sending it to the insurance company, because otherwise they would send it back and refuse to replace it.
So to recap, Verizon sold me a defective device, replaced it with another defective device, and now in order to fulfill the remaining nine months of my contract with them, I will have to purchase another device at full retail value. That's $600-$700 I'm expected to pay just to continue adhering to the terms of my contract. For now, I went on amazon and bought an external battery charger which I now have to carry with me at all times, which is an unacceptable solution for the next nine months. Surely there has to be a better option?

This is the same problem I had in the past and Samsung fixed the phone
under warranty. Since a warranty is only 1 year and not the length of the
contract it doesn't help anymore.  I do not have insurance and the phone
has never been wet.  I have to wiggle the port or reset something on the
connect to have it charge properly.  Verizon was unwilling to help me the
last time I had this issue since I purchased the phone new from Amazon.  I
would appreciate it if you could help.

  • Found a dead spider in my charging port (iphone 4) this morning. Now phone wont charge at all... What can I do? It's now all totally cleared of lint and legs :/

This morning my phone wouldnt charge, I tried three different charging cables. They are lighting up to show they are working, but the phone does not charge or show a symbol or connect to the computer.
So i cleaned out the lint from inside the charging port. and inside all the chargers, some of them were new off the shelf so would not be the problem.
I found a dead spider inside the port. Have blown into it, thoroughly cleaned with a needle any debris and fluff and spider legs etc...
It still wont charge. I have ten percent battery... it's off for now. It is not covered for a chat with apple at all, unless i pay $40 which is crazy expensive.
Any ideas of what to do to save this phone? Obviously i cant back it up because it wont plug in to anything.
For now it is not on charge, just trying to let it dry out.
Probably i squashed this spider when plugging it in. therefore there could be spider guts all ruining the inside? I don't know how the ports are made. Up until not charging
there were no issues at all.

    Hi lisellemono1,
I'm sorry to hear you are having charging issues with your iPhone; I know how frustrating that can be. Based on your description and the possibility that there may be other debris or residue still in the charging port, you may need to have your iPhone evaluated or serviced. • Magnetic charging port and loss of mobile data

I finally decided to switch to Android once I felt the iPhone update was not worth the high price tag. I decided on an Xperia Z3, and so far I have had to replace 2 devices and I am considering returning this one also. The first phone had a dead pixel so this was a quick return and replacement. The second developed problems with the magnetic charging port about 2 months after I received it - for instance in the magnetic charging dock I bought I suddenly had to start propping the phone forwards for it to connect and another magnetic attachment that clips on to the end of the microUSB cable kept connecting and disconnecting. Added to this, it demonstrated the problem I have seen mentioned here and elsewhere with the Z range of phones, in that it will often fail to regain its 3g signal after having lost it however restarting the phone will allow it to reconnect (until it does it again).
I hoped that replacing this phone would finally allow me to enjoy my phone, however right from the beginning it has demonstrated the same signal problem and while the magnetic port is slightly better with the magnetic clip it still wont connect to the charging dock and needs tilting forward slightly for my in-car charger.
I know the chargers are not the problem as my fiancee has the same phone which works perfectly. I don't know whether this is something to do with her buying hers straight from Sony while I got mine from Amazon (directly, not a seller) but I have no idea why that should make a difference to the quality of the handset. Are Sony known for build quality issues with their phones?
I can put up with the magnetic charging port if there is a reliable way of fixing the 3g issue, if anyone can suggest anything I will give it a try. If there isn't anything then I will have to send this phone back and in all likelihood will probably go back to apple

It'll be wise to install or reinstall the latest update with PC Companion (PCC)

  • My lightening charger is not fitting snug into the charging port

Hello. I am having trouble with the lightening charger for my iPhone 5. When I plug it in, the phone makes the sound that it always does, indicating that it is charging. Then, it starts making the noise over and over. The lightening charger is not fitting snug into the charging port. I tried cleaning it out and got a big ball of lint out, but the issue remains. It is hard to get a charge, I have to place my phone down and finagle the lightening cord so that it will charge. I have a Genius Bar appointment, but it isn't until the end of the week. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm also having this issue with my car charger, so I know its not the lightening cord that came with the phone that is causing the problems.

Make a Genius Bar appointment before you make the drive.

  • Can a USB charging port be replaced?

I have a Samsung charge. If I plug in the USB charger, the phone goes blank and freezes. This occurs even if the charger is not connected to power, so I suspect there is a loose connection or unseated port. If I remove the battery and replace, letting it reboot, with charger plugged in, it will show the battery status bar as not charging. I carry 2 extra batteries with me, checked the other 2. Sames issue, so I doubt it is the battery.

If the phone is still under warranty, you should check into the possibility of a warranty replacement. If it's no longer under warranty, it might be worth contacting a cell phone repair shop to see if replacing the charging port is possible. If they can replace it for a reasonable cost, it could solve your problem. Of course, be sure it's a reputable shop.

  • Broken Charging Port

    Hi,
I am with Bell. Last year i had boughten my first bb in April, a blackberry Style.
Four months later the charging port broke. First it started off that I needed to have the cable on a certain angle to charge then it stopped working altogether.
I sent my phone away to be repaired and it was returned "un repairable" and "damage was caused due to dropping" which was absolutely not true being that I am incredibly careful with my devices and I kept a hard case on it that I went to the states specifically for and also only had it for 4 months!
Needless to say I was furious with this answer, especially since Blackberry or Bell did notthing but tell me I needed to buy a new one because it was not covered in my warranty.
After my contract is up with Bell I will be switching to Rogers and possibly switching to Team IPhone (unfortunately) if i cannot find a good blackberry or a solution to my broken BB Style.
    Someone help me.

Our BB Style had this same problem. We went to the store and were told it was probably corrosion in the battery terminal but because it was a BB it couldn't even be looked at in store and had to be sent out and would cost at least $100 to fix (even thought we pay Sprint $8/month for insurance).
They were so interested in discouraging us to get it fixed and telling us that if it were water or something we would have to pay the full replacement value ($600) for the phone. He kept trying to sell us a new iPhone and their were no other BB phones to even demo in the store.
We went to a Radio Shack and wound up getting a lower price iPhone but are upset that BB wasn't represented in almost any store and were told our insurance was worthless.
Is this the type of relationship BB wants with its field sales force?
Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It does sound like whoever you spoke to was very poorly trained. But do be advised that the shop you went to was not a RIM store...it was a Sprint store, and they are a separate entity from RIM. They contract to sell BBs and BB services, but they are not RIM. So, it sounds like, if you wish to pursue a complaint path, that path would be with Sprint, would it not?
But, perhaps you wish for RIM to notice this issue...if that's your goal, I hope it's attained here. Just be aware that these forums are a user-to-user community, not a user-to/from-RIM formal communication channel.
    Good luck!
