Cisco 891FW Router - Web Gui

Hey guys,
Bare with me, as I am Cisco newbie and not too familiar with their setups.
I essentially want to be able to use the web interface of the router to configure VPNs, port forwards, etc. and not use CLIs.
Just got a Cisco 891FW Router for a client and want to pre-setup everything, but I couldn't seem to get into the web interface of the router. After finding out (correct me if I am wrong) that it is disabled by default, so you will have to use console to configure it.
So with the cable console I was provided, I used putty and got into that interface (this is where I lack experience in use). Referring to this guide (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios/12_2/configfun/configuration/guide/ffun_c/fcf005.pdf), I tried to enable the Web GUI of the router.
So the commands I ran are:
Router(config)# ip http server
Router(config)# ip http authentication aaa
Router(config)# aaa authentication login default local
I connected a ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports to my laptop and it got an IP address (192.168.15.100). I opened my web browser and put in http://<router name>, and nothing; even tried 192.168.15.1 as I figured that would be the web interface since I got a .15 address.
Did I miss a step or am I following the wrong guide? I am not too familiar with Cisco routers (beside you basic home/small business ones with the WebGUI enabled by default) so if you guys can show me a guide specific to my model, or give me a step-by-step on how to enable the web interface that would be appreciated.
Thanks for any help

Hi,
I'm a little rusty as I always use the CLI and only ever disable the web interface :), but your config looks a little weird.
Try this:
(config)#ip http server
(config)#ip http authentication local
(config)#username jbenoza privilege 15 secret 0 cisco
(config)#wri
Enter the IP address of the router (which will be the default gateway of the DHCP address you were provided) in the web browser and this will allow you to connect.
If you still experience issues, please post the output of a show run as there may be further configurations necessary.

  • Enable Web gui on Cisco 2901 ISR running IOS 15...

I have recently purchased a Cisco 2901 Integrated Service Router that is running IOS 15... and need some help activating the WEB GUI Interface. I have read some documentation and have not had any luck. Some detailed instructions for the command line would be great if someone has the time to help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
It looks as though there is not a Web GUI available for the 2901. However, Cisco does provide a tool called Cisco Configuration Professional, which provides tools to configure routers. It provides options for configuring many different functions in Cisco routers. You can follow the steps laid out in this article: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_configuration_professional/guides/CiscoCPqsg.html
This gives a great overview of how to install and start using Configuration Professional. I hope this helps, and please feel free to respond with any further questions. I will certainly do my best to answer them!

    Hi Mesut,
What credentials u are using to login in CLI & GUI?
Did u try logging through globaladmin?
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/prime/collaboration/10-0/quick/start/guide/Cisco_Prime_Collaboration_Quick_Start_Guide_10.html
    User Accounts
For Prime Collaboration, you will be required to specify various passwords at different instances. This section is designed to help you specify appropriate passwords in several scenarios that demand your login credentials (applicable for both converged application as well as standalone Prime Collaboration Assurance and Prime Collaboration Provisioning applications).
globaladmin- is a superuser who can access both Prime Collaboration Assurance and Prime Collaboration Provisioning UI.
globaladmin password- specify this password when you configure your virtual appliance for either standalone or converged application. See Configuring the Prime Collaboration Assurance Virtual Appliance and Configuring the Prime Collaboration Provisioning Virtual Appliance. You are also required to specify this password when you login to the UI (see the Password Rules for root user and globaladmin section)

    Hello Brandon,
CRWS is a little bit buggy, try SDM instead, which is supposed to be the replacement for CRWS. YOu can download it here:
    http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Software/Tablebuild/doftp.pl?ftpfile=pub/web/sdm/SDM-V231.zip&swtype=FCS
When asked for a user ID, just use anonymous/anonymous, it will allow the download.
If you cannot download, post your email address and I will send you the file.
You could also try another browser, such as Firefox:

  • Cisco 4400 WLC - Accessing web gui remotely

I know how to access the GUI from the service port. However, I am not able to access from Port 0. IPs have all been properly set. We have a management VLAN in our enterprise. I have configured the WLC management interface for an ip on that subnet. Port 0 is connected to a 3560G switch. I have set the switch port to be an access port to the management vlan and I have tried to set the switch port as a trunk, with the native vlan set to the management vlan. I am not able to ping nor access the web GUI remotely via the management vlan. Is this by design?
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
plz try to configure 0 as vlan on managment interface on WLC after configuring native vlan on the switch. if you havent tried it yet.
command - config interface vlan management 0
NOTe - you need to disabl all wlan that r mapped with management interface before doing any changes from CLI.
hope it will solve your prob.
    Thanks

  • 1142N unable to open Web GUI and CMD line options not available

I am currently trying to configure two 1142N APs (AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9) to be stand alone APs. I have followed the PDFs
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_8_JA/configuration/guide/s38frst.html#wp1103248
    and
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_2_JA/configuration/guide/s32frst.html#wp1103310
I set up the switch to provide DHCP and confirmed that each AP is indeed assigned an IP address. I can also ping each device. However when trying to browse to the GUI it fails to connect. So I tried to configure it via the CMD line. The enable mode does not give the option to configure interfaces as you would expect in enable mode nor does it give the option to enter global exec. example of the out put below.

It seems that the IOS on this device does not have the capability to configure the AP as stand alone or that it has been disabled. How do I get into the CMD line to configure the AP for deployment?
Secondly since I could not configure it via the CMD line I attempted to connect to it via the GUI like I said above. This fails. I ran an NMAP to find out what is open and found that nothing but port 23 is open. What is the deal here? Is the web GUI shut off by default? Am I just totally missing something? I think I dies a little inside after this...help please?

  • Is Guest VLAN configurable on the E-series WEB GUI yet

I logged on this board 2 months ago inquiring the availability of the Guest VLAN feature on the WEB GUI of the E-series home router and the answer back then was no.
I saw the Cisco Connect has been updated to work in synch with the WEB GUI and the new firmware has some minor bugs fixed on the Guest VLAN feature. My original:
Is Guest VLAN feature now available to configure on the WEB GUI of the E-series home router?

Are your talking about Guest VLAN or Guest WLAN?
Guest WLAN Feature is only available in E4200.In E4200 Router you have an option to configure the Guest WLAN using the WEB Interface.

My RADIUS server is up and responding to requests, but my router does not appear to be forwarding authentication requests to it. In fact, when I log into the router using HyperTerm, it times out, and I end up authenticating locally.
I really don't care whether my Cisco equipment authenticates against the RADIUS server, but I do need to get it set up to authenticate my users so I can track their time online. What have I missed in my router configuration? Why isn't it forwarding user authentication requests to the RADIUS server.
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide.

I have found that if I am in the middle of composing a response, and I open the thread in another browser window (to refer to it), when I go to submit my response, it doesn't get posted. Perhaps you are running into the same thing.
    The command I shared:
aaa authentication enable default group radius local
... was erroneous. The keyword should have been "enable", as you have discovered.
    Therefore use:
aaa authentication enable default group radius enable
When I view a Wireshark trace I see the following:
    AVP: l=18 t=User-Password(2): Decrypted: "user-PWD\000\000\000\000\000\000\000\000"
Like you, I see the user password appended with the group of \000 grouping's.
Note the word "Decrypted" which confirms that the password entered in Wireshark is a match with that entered on the AAA client (for what that's worth).
I'm not sure if I suggested that this would confirm that the server and client were using the same shared secret. If I did, I miss-spoke. I think we would have to gauge the server's response to the attributes we see passed by the client.
The Wireshark decryption is much more dramatic with TACACS+ because the whole payload is encrypted.
My issue with your PPPoE is that I saw no "interface" on the router that is configured to perform such authentication. I do seem to recall a global authentication command with the PPP keyword perhaps. I have not attempted to do this, and am not sure whether the interfaces in your router will support this method. Perhaps someone else will weigh in with an opinion.
However, there are other mainstream authentication methods that I think you should investigate as well.
You could implement 802.1x on a switch so that a host has to authenticate before it can gain Layer 3 access to the LAN. Depending on the platform, you can download VLAN assignments and ACLs.
I believe the router also supports 802.1x, but that may determine whether a host can get "through" the router. I have not had cause to investigate 802.1x on the router. I may do so in the future to authorize access to IPsec tunnels.
The router is also likely to support Authentication Proxy. This feature intercepts a user's attempt to browse resources on the other side of the router. User specific ACLs can be downloaded to the router (from RADIUS) to control what resources a user can access.
    I think you should:
    1. Resolve the issue(s) with AAA logins on the router. It'll establish a baseline of functionality, and give you some short term joy.
    2. Investigate whether PPPoE support exists on your router's interfaces.
    3. Read up on 802.x and Authentication Proxy (docs on Cisco web site).
    4. Decide which methods appeals to you.
    5. Dive in.
I'd lose the self-deprecation. I don't think it will serve you well. If you're treated badly, move to a newsgroup where the participants display a higher level of emotional maturity. I don't think you will have an issue on the Cisco forums. Others would probably step in.
I'm going to be absent for several days, so if you don't receive any response, it will be for said reason.
    Good luck.

hi! I am using web GUI to configure this AP but can not locate configuration guide for web GUI.
there are plenty of them for CLI
    version is 12.4(10b)JDA
Where can I find configuration guide based on web GUI?
    any help is appreciated!

  • EA4500 would not allow web GUI mgmt session any longer?

    Hi everyone,
The strangest thing -- EA4500 would not allow web GUI mgmt session any longer?
It worked just fine for 6 moths; now if I try to manage it using the web gui it would authenticate fine but right after correct password is entered it will sit with the little spinning wheel forever:
    Remedies that did NOT work:
    1. Rebooted several times
    2. Flashed firmware using the tool FW_EA4500_2.1.39.145204.SSA.zip
    3. Tried several different browsers
    4. Same as number 3 above but from another laptop
Otherwise the router's functions are 100% operational; both wireless and hard-wired; works; performance is as expected in terms of speed; port forwarding works; lights work as expected.
So what's left? I really would like to avoid reset to factury configuration as I have ton of settings which I didn't ducoment back in the day when it was installed.
    Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

    Hi bbiandov,
You may disconnect your modem from the router and try to access the user interface again. If you can't access the page still, you may need to reset the router and reconfigure it.

  • RV042 Web Gui Port

    Dear ALL,
what port used RV042 WEB GUI ? port 80?
can we change that port?maybe become port 8080?
because we have another web server use port 80 too.
    please give me info.
    thanks & regards,

    1) Port Management > Port Settings page - not displaying correctly.
    2) VLAN Management > Interface Settings > Edit page - not displaying correctly.
I did a little experimenting concerning issues 1) and 2) above and found the following:
Issue 1)-After going to the Port Settings page of the web config tool, hit F12-Developer Tools in IE (my version is 32 bit 11.0.9600.17691) and change the document mode to emulate “edge” (in the IE developer tool toolbar).  Then refresh the Port Settings page.  I was able to make changes and apply.
Issue 2)-After going to the VLAN>Interface Settings page, selecting a port and hitting edit, once again use F12 of IE to change document mode to “edge” THEN click the green arrow in the upper left corner of the IE developer tool to continue.  Again I was able to make changes and apply.
This may be a good enough workaround to get by until Cisco issues an update.

  • Cisco EPC3925 routing

    Hi,
    I have a Cisco EPC3925 router.
Can I somehow add a static routing rule?
    Similarly, the Windows command:
    route add 195.199.255.195/32 192.168.0.3
Thanks in advance for your help
    F.W.

    Hi Ferenc,
Thank you for your question.  However, this community is for Cisco Small Business Products and the DPC/EPC3925 is not a Cisco Small Business Product.
Your product is an internet service provider (ISP) supported product.  In other words you need to contact your ISP or technology reseller that you purchased this from to help you with your question.

need driver or app for ms life cam 3.0 tried to get one off the internet. cisco wireless router software said malware and virus threat. Is it safe for mac? is this software try to protect my pc or is it A threat to macs to.

There are a number of extremly dubious sites which claim to offer Drivers for common Hardware, but actually are phishing for identies and credit card numbers and candidates to join a bot-net.
Make absolutely certain you load drivers ONLY from the manufacturer's web site.

  • WLC Web GUI Certificate type displayed

    Hi,
We Converted some APs from IOS to LWAPP and had them successfully Join a WLC.
We have, to date, never bought owned or otherwise possessed an AP which talks LWAPP out of the box.
However the WLC Web GUI says, under the Wireless heading, that AP Certificate Type is "Manufacture Installed" .
    Shouldn't it say "Self-Signed" ?
    regards, MH

    Thankyou for your reply.
    Looking at Cisco document,
"Upgrading Autonomous Cisco Aironet Access Points to Lightweight Mode"
I can see where it confirms what you said about MIC,
"Factory installed certificates are referenced by the term MIC, which is an acronym for Manufacturing
Installed Certificate. Cisco Aironet access points shipped before July 18, 2005, do not have MIC, so
these access points create a self-signed certificate when upgraded to operate in lightweight mode."
Most of this document talks about SSC not MIC and is indisciminate about the age of the AP.
So if I'm converting 1131AG APs bought in 2006 from Autononous to LWAPP am I dealing with MIC not SSC?
