Cisco sf-300 connected/trunked to 2960

I have a sf300 trunked and connected to a 2960 and can't get an ip. would the switch pickup the vlans already out there from my 3560 or do you have to configure the vlans in the sf300. I went ahead and configured each vlan in the sf300 and left port 1 as a trunk and gave the switch an ip that is on our mgmt vlan. I do not get an ip when connecting to the sf300. Also I can make the port on the 2960 a access port with STP, but do i need to set STP on the access port on the sf300? prefer using trunk.

Hi,
Really depends on the port connecting both switches together and how each port is configured. If 2960 port is configured as truck with native vlan 1, allowed vlans all then you will need to add each vlan to the port in the SF300 switch.
SF300 commands
conf t
interface FastEthernet 24
switchport trunk native vlan 1
switchport trunk allowed vlan add all
You will have to be on latest firmware for Cli support.
Again this is assuming the port on 2960 is configured to allow all vlans on that port.
Hope this helps,
Jasbryan

  • Cisco Edge 300 registered in AppSpace PRO loosing image

We met problem with losing image in Cisco Edge 300 connected to Display via HDMI cable. After some times displays show Black screen and flashing “connecting “ notification. I have to unplug and then plug in HDMI Cable from Cisco Edge 300 ,then Displays shows image. Sometimes this method not helping and I need to restart  Cisco Edge 300,or even unregister and then again register Cisco Edge 300 in Appspace Pro Server.
Some Cisco Edge Players are with Firmware 1.5 and Some of them with firmware 1.6
    Displays are form  ViewSonic.
AppSpace Pro server version is  5.1.2
Do someone meet this issue ?

No error messages when installing - the app 'installs' perfectly, however on launch, I get this crash log.
I had no success launching 'Edge Preview' either, some time back, on my office iMac.
I can install and launch on my MacBookPro however, no problem; Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Troubleshooting with install logs looks like a months work for a tech expert...
I'll use Edge Animate on my MacBook, thanks!

  • Configure Voice and Data VLAN in CISCO SF 300 8P

I have a couple of Cisco SF 300 8P and 24 P Switches. I have voice and Data VLAN configured as :
    Data VLAN : Default 145.17.59.0/24
    Voice VLAN : VLAN 20 172.22.20.0/24
I have different DHCP servers as for Data VLAN we have physical server which is configured for 145.17.59.* IP Scope and Voice VLAN DHCP Server is configured in Gateway router with option 150.
This configuation works fine with other cisco swiches like 2960 and 3750 etc except CISCO SF 300 8P and 24P. I was trying to configure both voice and Data VLAN in these CISCO Switches so that CISCO phone (Model 6941) shold get IP from Voice VLAN and PC should get IP from Data VLAN DHCP Server. I have tried several techniques like LLDP, Port to VLAN Config etc.
Can anyone please guide me/help on this.
    Regards,
    A K.M.Sayeed

Hi A.K.M., with Cisco phones you should be able to simply set auto voice VLAN to be VLAN20.
    voice vlan id 20
You should ensure CDP and/or LLDP are enabled as well. I would check this in web GUI. DHCP for the phones can come from the switch, a DHCP server on a VLAN20 access port or you can use dhcp helper to redirect DHCP to server elsewhere.
If you prefer or have issues with CDP or LLDP you can also program ports as trunks and add tagged VLAN 20 to them.  In this scenario you need to insure inter-vlan routing is working and that phones download config file with corrrect VLAN config.
These switches do not run ios so they are similar but different than catalyst switches you referred to.

  • VLAN's Cisco SF 300-24

I need create vlans in Cisco SF 300-24 Switch.
Ports 1 to 6 are available for other ports (from 7 to 24).
    For examples:
port 7 is available for ports from 1 to 6 but is not available for ports from 8 to 24,
port 8 is available for ports from 1 to 6 but is not available for ports from 9 to 24 and 7,
port 9 is available for ports from 1 to 6 but is not available for ports from 10 to 24 and 7 and 8,
    .....(to port 24)
    How I can do it?
When I add ports from 1 to 6 to VLAN 12, the ports was automatically removed with VLAN 11(in attachment).

    Hi Dominik,
Here are the rules for VLANs ..
When you set the switch port  interface to  access mode, a switch port can be only a member of one untagged VLAN
When you set the switch port  interface to trunk mode, a switch  port can be a member of only one untagged VLAN but also a  member of many Tagged VLANs.
But what you seem to be trying to achieve is use ports 1-7 as  unprotected or open  ports  for  ports 8-24 within the switch.
Really seems like something called  Priveate Vlan Edge PVE, whereby protected ports will only forward packets to unprotected ports and not other protected ports. .
Here is the definition found in the help text from within the switch.
Protected Port—Select to make this a protected port. (A protected port is also referred as a Private VLAN Edge (PVE).) The features of a protected port are as follows:
Protected Ports provide Layer 2 isolation between interfaces (Ethernet ports and Link Aggregation Groups (LAGs)) that share the same Broadcast domain (VLAN).
Packets received from protected ports can be forwarded only to unprotected egress ports. Protected port filtering rules are also applied to packets that are forwarded by software, such as snooping applications.
Port protection is not subject to VLAN membership. Devices connected to protected ports are not allowed to communicate with each other, even if they are members of the same VLAN.
Both ports and LAGs can be defined as protected or unprotected. Protected LAGs are described in the Configuring Link Aggregation section.
    So my steps were
So I am wondering if you really need to configure alot of vlans.
    make ports 8-24 protected port
    Save the configuration
Clicked to tick the option to protect switch port 8.
That's what we end up with , port 8 is now protected.
Now lets copy the settings from port 8 to ports 9-24, see the circled area below.
now will in the ports you also wish to protect.
Now ports 8-24 are protected ports.
Hosts on these ports will only be able to communicate with hosts on ports 1-7 or  switch port 24 onwards, in the case of my switch.
Make sure you save your configuration.
I hope this is what you want.

  • Help using the Connection Trunk command

    Hello Group,
I could use a bit of assistance accomplishing the following.
I have two Cisco 1760 Routers with a WIC 1/DSU T1 and one VIC2/E/M in each router.  I am new to CLI commands and could use some tips.
I would like to set up these routers (I will call them Router A and Router B) to communicate with each other via a internal IP network which spans between two seperate locations.
I would like to set up these routers to use the E&M ports to send and receive audio between locations.  The E&M ports are connected to my external equipment which allows for transmit and receive audio to be delivered to the E&M port.
I need to be able to allow for the routers to use 2 wire or 4 wire audio between locations, which is matched at both ends.   The routers do not dial phone numbers nor are phones in use at all.  Basically the routers are going to be used to send and receive two way radio voice between the locations which the radios are interfaced to the E&M ports.
Can anyone please help me on configuring these routers to accomplish this and if I need to use the Connection Trunk command I can do so, as this is the only purpose of the routers is to relay audio between locations.
    Please Help.
    Thanks A bunch!!
    Rick

Thank you for taking the time to reply,  However I have allready configured the routers to link the LMR sites together.   I have been connecting LMR assets utilizing ROIP for many years using non-cisco equipment which is specifically designed for ROIP, I have a large inventory of 1760 routers which were originally used for Telco applications which were replaced by newer equipment.  The fact that the routers have become "obsolete" does not mean that they are not usable for my application.   How can you make a statement that this is "limited equipment" when the intended use of this equipment for my application has been accomplished without limitations which are specific to my operation.
I posted a request on this forum to obtain some help in the configuration of these devices from people who are familiar with the 1760 router.  Your response was the first response which I had received in regards to my request for assistance, I thank you for at least attaching a link to some resources which I can utilize.  Utilizing the services of a "reputable consultant" or "UC certified partner" would be acceptable in some circumstances, however utilizing the services which would be provided by such would only pose limitations on our technical skills.  I do not want to have to rely on a third party consultants to acheive what is engineered and desgned in house by our staff.
I am not looking to purchase new equipment, nor am I looking for consulting help on this issue as we manage and deploy equipment in house.  Enlisting the services of a consultant or certified partner for our Cisco equipment deployments would only add unnecessary costs and time to deploy equipment.  Again thank you for the link to the examples.
    Respectfully,
    Richard Wiglesworth

  • Problems setting up Guest VLAN on Cisco SG 300-28

    Hi,
I am primarely enquiring whether the setup I have explained below is actually possible, and if so then how I can set this up. I know it isn't the easiest configuration and I need to set this up without purchasing any more equipment if at all possible.
I have a Cisco SG 300-28 setup with three VLAN's
    VLAN1 (Business) - 192.168.10.0 - Switch IP 192.168.10.254
    VLAN2 (VOIP) - 192.168.20.0 - Switch IP - 192.168.20.1
    VLAN3 (Guest) - 192.168.30.0 - Switch IP - 192.168.30.1
Default Gateway is 192.168.10.1 (Netgear Router)
I have a Wireless network setup (Netgear WMS and 2 WAP's) configured with the TWO VLAN's (1 and 3). These go into ports on the Cisco SG 300-28 which are tagged on both VLAN's. The Business wireless worked fine but the guest network didn't reout out to the internet.
After some troubleshooting I realised the reason the guest wasn't working was because there was no route back from the internet to the router.
The router I have isn't really ideal, it is a Netgear DGN2200, but I managed to create a static route to 192.168.30.1 with a metric of 2, with 192,168,10.254 being the hop.
Success, the connection worked, the only problem is that now my guest network can see my business network because the business network is using the static route on my router to route back over to the guest network (due to the limitations of this device I can't do anything about that)
So basically, what I have is
Guest network can connect to Business VLAN via switch. I am assuming this is because the router is on the Business VLAN and the default gateway is the router. As they are on the same network the Guest network can inevetably see the business server and network.
The Business network can get back to the Guest network via the router using my static route I created. The static route is really basic and I can't create a firewall rule on the router to prevent the Business network speaking to guest network because it only has a LAN - WAN firewall and this connection is LAN - LAN.
    What I need is...
to somehow stop any traffic from the 192.168.30.0 network routing to anything on the 192.168.10.0 network, appart from the router on 192.168.10.1.
Is this possible? I have this setup on a number of different site, the only difference is I have a CIsco Security Router on these with the VLAN's configured so I don't have this problem. Because I have a rather limited Netgear DGN2200 I am unable to setup the VLAN's correctly and as such I need to see if I can do this on the switch in any way.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
This is my first post by the way so if I missed anything out that would help anybody then please let me know.
    Kind Regards
    David

    Hi David,
Why not apply a access list to filter incoming traffic into the SG300 switch such as, via command line or GUI.
Here is an example below, by no means complete, just an example
    Just remember,  we are using reverse masking in the ACE;
    config
    ip access-list extended restrictGuest
    deny ip 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.20.0 0.0.0.255
    deny tcp 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 any 192.168.30.1 0.0.0.0 www
    deny tcp 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 any 192.168.30.1 0.0.0.0 telnet
    deny ip 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.10.0 0.0.0.255
    permit ip any any
    exit
    interface gigabitethernet1
    service-acl input restrictGuest
    exit
Don't forget to save the configuration with the following command and respond to the prompt.
    write
or do it via the GUI method
Step 1.  Create a ACL name
step 2, Add the port based ACE which is the filter list,.
step 3.   Apply or bind the list to a port so that the port can look at and filter pattern matches for traffic ingressing into the switch.  I have given you an example of a ACE list above, you can be more creative in what you deny.
step 4. Now add or copy the entry to other switch ports.
Remember to save your configuration change.
    Hope this helps.
    regards Dave

  • Can I use straight cable to connect trunk ports between 2 switches?

    Hi,
Am I able to use straight instead of cross cable to connect trunk ports between 2 switches??
    thanks!

    Hi Devang,
When a 10/100 Fast Ethernet interface is enabled, one end of the link must perform media dependent interface (MDI) crossover (MDIX), so that the transmitter on one end of the data link is connected to the receiver on the other end of the data link (a crossover cable is typically used).
The Auto-MDIX feature eliminates the need for crossover cabling by performing an internal crossover when a straight cable is detected during the auto-negotiation phase.
HTH, if yes please rate the post.

  • Can I run a cat5 cable to a 4 port hub from a cisco router then connect one of the hub's output ports to an airport express to 'extend' my wireless range?

Can I run a cat5 cable to a 4 port hub from a cisco router then connect one of the hub's output ports to an airport express to 'extend' my wireless range?
    Flow would be
Cable modem---->cisco e2000 wifi router (This is broadcasting wifi but not strong enough)---->4 port hub ---->airport express (to extend the wifi in another part of house)
    thanks!

Yes, you can do this as you stated. In essence you will want to configure both routers for roaming network. Please check out the following Apple Support article that describes this type of network. Although this article uses two or more AirPorts, it can be done with just about any manufacturer's router.

  • Where to download Cisco Spectrum Expert Connect (4.0 or greater)?

I downloaded the Wireless CleanAir Deployment Guide and on step 7, it stated:
On a Supported Windows platform with Cisco Spectrum Expert Connect (4.0 or greater) installed.
Where can I download Cisco Spectrum Expert Connect (4.0 or greater)?
We need to use it on our Upgraded WLC v7.0. Please kindly advice.
    Thank You.
    Junhan

    Hi,
it will only officially be available early 2011 with the new release of WLC 7.0
However, there is a pre-Beta release and it seems ok to share with customers willing to try it out early.
No need to mention that you should not be complaining about bugs or any explosion induced by the beta software :-)
I'm attaching it here if you want to try the current version.

  • Cisco 1142 WAP Connection Help

We have a Cisco 1142 WAP connected to a Cisco Wireless Controller in a remote office area.  For meetings we wanted to have more hard wired connections in addition to Wifi access for attendee's / presentors etc..My question is if we purchased a Cisco 8 port POE mini switch and put that in the middle between the WAP and Controller would that work?  Or is there another business grade solution for a mix of Ethernet ports and Wifi?

Yes, sir.  This will work.  The only "problem" I see is your 8 port PoE switch.  Let me explain:
The good part about Cisco's 8-port PoE switches, the WS-C3560-8PC, is that it is FANLESS.  So even if you stick the switch right inside this conference or meeting room, no one will notice it's there (unless of course, one steps on the hot surface or gives the appliance a good kick).
This model has a 1Gig SFP or RJ45 port uplink.
Now the downside is not really that significant, unless you want to be pedantic about it.  The access ports are all 10/100BaseTX only.
By the way, I have no way of testing the "compact" series of the 2960C and the 3560C.  The Data Sheet itself is a bit "grey" so I won't make a comment about these two models.

  • Multiple screesavers when cisco vpn is connected

    Hi
I am using builtin Cisco VPN to connect corporate network at home. When I connected to VPN, screensaver sometimes (not all times but very often) starts immediately regardless of my screensaver setup (I usually setup 15min after idle. but it's same when I turn off the screensaver).
Worse thing is if I leave my macbook for an hour, there seems to be multiple screensaver running (so fan sound is loud). When I click in screensaver screen (mouse move doesn't work... only click works) it change to another screensaver until all screensaver instances terminates (10 times sometimes). I need to click multiple times when every screensaver shows up.
During writing this article, I had to click twice because screensaver starts during typing...
Today I found that when Cisco VPN is connected this symptom occurs very often. Is there any known problem of Cisco VPN and SL screensaver?

I was running synergy 1.31 and it has problems with screensaver. It stops when I stop synergyc.

    Hi All,
I need SNMP MIB files for Cisco SF 300-48 48-Port 10/100 Managed Switch.
I have gone through cisco site but not able to get it.
Can anyone please provide me.I have stuck with this.
    Thanks
    Ram

Hi Ram, yes the MIB can be used. The switches are essentially the same in many regards (especially on a software level).
I do not know the OID for bandwidth. If you're looking for a particular OID may be this tool helps you
