  • After getting the up-to-date Mountain Lion, can I download it on other devices?

    Hi,
    In July, I purchased a 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro that qualified for the up-to-date Mountain Lion. I received it and installed it. I also was allowed to install it for free on my 2011 13 inch Macbook Pro. However, I couldn't do the same for my 2011 15 inch Macbook Pro. Instead of saying "install", it said "Buy app, $19.99". If I click "buy app", will I have to pay $19.99 or will it give it to me for free?

    The copy of Mountain Lion you get through the Up-To-Date program is for installing exclusively on the qualifiying hardware. If you want to install on other hardware you own you'll need to make a seperate purchase.
    You might want to read over the license agreement that is available via the MAS.

  • Does It Matter What Apple Website I Request My Up-To-Date Mountain Lion From

    I bought my MBA in Singapore but my Apple account is from my home country, United Kingdom. Does it matter which Apple website I make my claim for Mountain Lion from? Should it be Singapore the country where I bought my MBA or should it be UK? Both pages look the same to me.

    Do it from whatever country coincides with the Apple ID you have setup in the App Store.

  • Rejected from Up To Date Mountain Lion

    Hi my name is James, I recently purchased the brand new Macbook Air (June 27th, 2012) from the Apple online store and requested the up to date upgrade for Mountain Lion but was rejected when i sent my invoice, so i resent it the second time with the invoice and the email confirmation but was rejected again.
    First attempt I read online most people had theirs within hours of sending the request, i received my declined email after 4 hours with a link to resend the proof.
    To make sure i was sending the right details I checked this link
    http://www.apple.com/support/service/help/warrantycheck/proofofpurchase.html
    then resent my second attempt, after the second rejection i was given an email. ([email protected])
    Dear Apple Customer,
    Thank you for your recent OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date order. We want to thank you for your interest in Apple products and services.
    We are unable to process your request for OS X Mountain Lion because of the following:
    Receipt was not provided
    Receipt is missing purchase date
    Date of purchase is outside of the offer
    Offer has expired
    Receipt does not show purchase of a qualifying product
    Offer is exclusively for end users. Resellers are not eligible
    Order was not received within 30 days of purchase
    Duplicate Order
    Purchases must be through an authorized reseller
    Proof of purchase is illegible for qualifying product
    Offer is limited to 1 upgrade per qualifying system
    Proof of purchase is illegible for both purchase date and or qualifying product
    Proof of purchase is illegible
    Receipt does not indicate product was paid for and received
    Receipt is missing part number
    Im not to sure why it says "offer has expired" am i only allowed two attempts then the offer is declined? Sorry im a little confused by that.
    I emailed [email protected] with;
    - Paragraph explaining the situation
    - Picture of the invoice (clearly showing Purchase date, Price Paid, and Payment Method)
    - Email confirmation of purchase
    - Serial Number on the back of the box
    - Shippment box with serial and my address
    - Picture of my Macbook air
    Its been over 3 days and i havnt heard a response from the email yet. I thought id wait the 72 hours as most people in the forums have been suggesting to wait 72 hours for your keys.
    Ive called into customer support twice already and was greeded with exceptionally polite people but was informed they had no power to do anything but provide me with the same email "[email protected]" to get this situation resolved.
    Right now im just thinking if i should pay the $20 or hold out because of the hours spent furstrated trying to fix this. I recieved the laptop as a gift for my parents, being a poor student right now working to pay for my textbooks and courses. Paying for the upgrade would leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

    This link has the Terms & Conditions at the bottom of the page:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/
    The second bullet point states:
    "To receive your OS X Mountain Lion upgrade, you must complete the order form and provide an electronic copy of a dated, itemized sales receipt indicating the marketing part number(s) of the qualifying product(s) purchased. Order acknowledgments, packing slips, and purchase order copies are not valid."
    Here is a list of the International Technical Support Numbers: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57.
    You may be giving them a copy of the wrong receipt.
    Call them to find out exactly what they want you to send them.
    Good luck !

  • I claim my OS X Mountain Lion but they never sent me the code

    I bought my macbook pro in july 7th in the new york 5th avenue store and i claimed my mountain lion copy yesterday around mid day but they never sent me my code also when I was applying for the upgrade the webpage didn't ask me to scan my receipt or nothing, I have my claim number but what can i do with it?
    If someone is having the same problem? Can anyone tell what i should do?

    Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
    You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
    You may want to consider as well:
    These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
    And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
    Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
    Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
    (Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • Is the Up-To-Date Mountain Lion program down? I haven't received an email yet.

    I submitted my form, and haven't gotten any confirmation or email code. Is the server down?

    Try taking your question to the new Mountain Lion forum. As teach5 notes, the experts are saying that it will take up to 72 hours to receive an email with your redemption code. Sorry if that's true but it's not like you won't get what was promised - just a bit later than those who purchaed it.

  • Canon CAPT 355 doesn't work for Mountain Lion

    SInce I installed Mountain Lion onto my MacBookPro I can't print to my Canon LBP5050N. I've install CAPT 355 that Canon claims will work for Mountain Lion but it doesn't work. I've tried uninstalling all my older driver and installing CAPT 355 but that doesn't work either.

    The ccpd.conf file is still
    # Canon Printer Daemon for CUPS Configuration Data
    <Path>
    # CUPS configuration files Path
    #  Default  /
    CUPS_ConfigPath   /
    # LOG Directory Path
    #LogDirectoryPath /var/log/CCPD/
    </Path>
    # Printer entries
    #  Mapping each "Printer-Name" to "Printer Device Port".
    # The "Printer-Name" has to be identical to the CUPS printer queue name.
    #  For example, if you prepare a printer named "LBP3200" as a CUPS printer
    #  queue name, and the printer is connected to the USB port "/dev/usb/lp0",
    #  you can use the following three lines example just by removing the
    #  comment symbol "#" of each line.
    #<Printer  LBP3200>
    #DevicePath  /dev/usb/lp0
    #</Printer>
    <Ports>
    # Status Monitor API socket port
    #  Default PORT  59787
    UI_Port  59787
    </Ports>
    # Backend Data API  socket port
    #  Default PORT  59687
    PDATA_Port  59687
    </Ports>
    I've tried putting in
    <Printer Canon_LBP5050N>
    DevicePath lpd://192.168.1.152
    </Printer>
    manually but no success in getting the results. I've even tried changing the preference file org.cups.printers to include
    <string>cnbma://localhost:59687/</string>

  • How to make iMac running Os 10.7.5. like Mountain Lion ?

    I have been using an up-to-date mountain lion on a MacBook Pro for some time.
    Just purchased a secondhand iMac late 2006 running OS 10.7.5.
    I had hoped to be able to download mountain lion onto this so that both worked in the same way.
    However I checked with Apple technical support  who says this is not a good idea as it is not supported.
    What does this mean and what would be the likely problems if I tried?

    Here are Mountain Lions Tech Specs.
    As you can see only iMacs from mid 2007 or newer can run it. Basically if you tried to install the OS on your iMac it will refuse to do it as the hardware can't support it.

  • New RMBP shipping with mountain lion?

    Just received email that custom RMBP is being delivered in UK on 19/7/12. Does anyone know if it will ship with Lion (with a free upgrade to come) or with Mountain Lion pre installed?

    I called in once and I think I remember them saying that if you purchase a new computer close enough to the release date of Mountain Lion that you are eligible for a free Upgrade.  Ah, here! The following is from www.apple.com/osx/uptodate
    The OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date upgrade will be available at no additional charge from the Mac App Store to all customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 11, 2012.
    Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 11, 2012 and the date when Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from the date Mountain Lion becomes available to make their Up-To-Date request.
    Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac after Mountain Lion becomes available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from the date they purchase their Mac to make their Up-To-Date request.
    When Mountain Lion becomes available in July, come back to this page to request your copy of Mountain Lion.
    End Quote!
    Go back to that website when Mountain Lion is available and you'll be able to request the free upgrade if you purchased between June 11, 2012 and when ML comes out.

  • OSX Mountain Lion Up-to-date claim validation mail not yet received

    I live in India. I bought an iMac from a Apple Reseller on 23rd June 2012 which qualifies me for the free upgrade to OSX Mountain Lion. I filled out the form, entered all the details correctly (though in the last step Apple didn't give an option to select country as India, but I filled the form anyways) and was given a Claim Reference Number.
    It's 2nd day today and I haven't received any email regarding the redemption code. What's going on?

    Oh well well.. just 30 minutes after I posted the above question, I got the validation email. Now let's see if the code actually works.

  • What to do if you lost apple claim reference number for downloading Mountain Lion

    Okay, So I just registered my Macbook pro for Apple's Up-to-date program that lets you upgrade to mountain lion if you bought a Mac starting june 11.. So i registered my macbook pro and i forgot to copy the Claim reference number that they give you.. What do you all suggest i do?

    Been waiting 6 hours now, still no email after submitting the form for my retina MBP.  You'd think at least the MBP with retina would be a quick confirmation, since they didn't exist before the eligibility period for getting a free Mountain Lion update....
    Getting rather frustrated here.  I took today off to deal with the upgrade and potential clean install so I'd have it up and running before returning to work tomorrow.  And I've had absolutely NOTHING from apple yet...

  • OSX mountain lion claim wrong E-mail

    I submitted the wrong E-mail for my Free Mountain Lion UPT... I have a Claim # though...will i be ok and how can i fix this. kwkd

    Quit Mail.
    Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
    Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
    Copy (command-C) the selected text to the Clipboard. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the box that opens, then press return.
    A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
    Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. If you get a warning that the file is in use when you try to empty the Trash, log out and log back in.

  • How do I register for the Mac OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Program?

    I purchased my Mac on Friday and saw on the Apple website I can register for a free upgrade to Mountain Lion when it comes out.
    Sadly I cannot work out how to do this, can someone please help.

    That web site won't be available until Mountain Lion ships. You have 30 days from the ship date of Mountain Lion to claim the download code.
    The offer will likely be available here: http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/

  • Mountain Lion redemption code expiry date

    Hi,
    I recently obtain my redemption code for  downloading OSX Mountain Lion from the AppStore.
    Does this code have a expiration date ??

    Just got this reply:
    My name is xxxx with iTunes Store Support and I'll be assisting you with your request. I understand that your "OS X Up-to-Date" redemption code has been recognized as "already redeemed". I know how unnerving it feels when our content codes aren't able to be used.
    Due to a known issue, the content codes associated with the "OS X Up-to-Date" program haven't been valid for use in the Mac App Store.
    No worries, yyy. I've submitted a request on your behalf for a replacement content code, and you should be receiving that shortly via email. Please bear in mind that it isn't necessary to submit an additional claim for the "OS X Up-to-Date" program.
    They "haven't been valid for use in Mac App Store", but they're "sending another"......

  • OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date-program Delay?

    So I went to the "OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date-program" page and entered my serial number and got the message that I would receive an e-mail when it had been verified.
    It has now been more than 30 minutes, which makes me fear that the verification process is manual and I might have to wait long before getting my code.
    Does anybody have any insights into this?

    A lot of pepople get their codes allmost instantly, in a few mins, but after they got a this code has benne already claimed error message in the store. You can find more info here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4134733?tstart=0
