Click through swf transparent areas

Hi all !
I have added at the top layer of my Flex application a swf picture that covers all the scene but with transparent areas. I needed actually to make a complex frame around the app that could not have been done with a simple square frame.
The problem is that I can any longer click or rollover the underlying items.
Is there a way to fix that or a possible turn around without splitting my picture into 4 narrow strips to place on each border ?
Thanks in advance.

Well,
I figured it out, and it wasn't too bad. I figured I'd post
to let anyone else searching this board find the answer that I
used. I load in pngs, and instead of just dropping the item on the
stage, I now also save the bitmapData from the graphic. When the
sprite that this graphic was added to is clicked on, it checks the
alpha value to the alpha value in the stored bitmapData. If it's 0,
then it starts to pass the event along to the other children below
it. There may be a better way than this, but it seems to work for
me...

  • Wow! CS6 let's you click through transparent areas in placed psd's!

    I just noticed this, this is great!
    If you cut out the background of a photo in PS and then place that in AI, you can now select things behind it as long as you click on a transparent area. Knowhattamean? Before, in CS5, if you clicked there you would still select the PSD.
    Is there a list somewhere of all the improvements in AI CS6? You know the "little things"?

    Actually, no. I thought that for a moment too. If I had Select Object by Path Only selected then I would be able to select a psd only by clicking on the outer border of it.
    At some point when I first installed AI CS6, I was able to select the psd by clicking anywhere on the psd that wasn't transparent. And clicking in the transparent areas had no effect.
    I thought that was great. And that's what I lost and am trying to get back again.

  • Click through transparent parts of a movie clip

    Anyone have any idea how to do this?
    I found an old post from January that suggested saving the original image as an SWF via Illustrator.  I tried it, but my clip is still registering clicks in transparent areas.
    Here's a link.  http://www.aparch.net/Infant/Infant.html
    All I'm trying to do is allow the drawing to be dragged around the screen, but I don't want it to be clickable in the transparent areas where the green background shows through.
    Also, can anyone explain how to eliminate the pale cast that the transparent areas are making?  The background to the drawing shows totally transparent in Photoshop, but the boundaries of the movie are visible because the supposedly transparent areas of the movie are slightly masking the background.
    Maybe these two problems are related?

    Well, that helped the transparency problem.  It looks much cleaner now.  But onPress is still registering all of the movieclip - including the transparent areas.  What am I doing wrong?  My movieclip has the following code -
    on (press) {
    startDrag(this, false, 100, 200, 900, 300);
    dragging = true;
    on (release, releaseOutside) {
    stopDrag();
    dragging = false;

    What is happening in the most recent keynote when I click on a slide and it pulses (larger-smaller)  Two of my slides have disappeared in the navigator although if I play through them they are there and the slides have their orignal number--there are just white spaces where the slide should be and I can only get to the slide by clicking through from the prior slide.  How do I get the sldies back into the navigator so I can see them.  Oddly, they are show up just find on the light table.

    Try removing any transitions or builds on these slides, or delete the slides then recreate them as fresh slides.

  • "outside stage content" of swf shown as transparent area in flipbook

    Hi
    I have a flipbook on stage it loads external swf.
    The problem is that after loading the external swf's into the

  • Nano screens are delayed when clicking through

    Hello
    My Nano has had this issue and I don't know if this is normal or not. When I click through screens, often the next screen is delayed in popping up like a hesitation. I think it is more noticeable when a song is playing.
    When I click the next screen it sometimes hesitates, then the whole screen appears redrawn. Is this normal operation for these ipods? I think I only am noticing it recently.
    By the way I just updated to iTunes 7 and restored my ipod to factory settings. But I haven't seen any difference.
    Also in previous versions of iTunes, if your library was bigger than the ipod a dialog box came up asking if you wanted iTunes to automatically create a playlist for you. There doesn't seem to be this option in 7, only a box that says there isn't enough room!
    Nano 1st generation   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    For the messages in iTunes when your library is too big: That could just be a software change in iTunes related to the new way to update your iPod in iTunes 7.
    For the lag: How long is it taking? The iPod might not respond instantly, but it shouldn't take longer that 1/2 second to 1 second to respond if the iPod isn't doing anything. If it's doing something (you just disconnected it from the computer, loading notes, sometimes music, etc) then there might be a short delay.
    The iPod shouldn't be stalling to the point where it stops in between switching menus.

  • [SOLVED] GNOME: Fullscreen windows are click-through

    When I put an application on fullscreen, for example a Flash video, HTML5 video or a game, and try to click anywhere on it, it'll click through the application, on the app that's behind it. I have found the workaround to put it on its own workspace, although sometimes the rightclick gets triggered from the background when I do this. (very inconsistent, and sometimes it gets triggered on left click as well)
    I do not have issues when running any of these applications as windowed. I am running GNOME 30.14.2. Does anyone know of a fix for this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I have the same problem in Gnome 3.14 and now 3.16. Window focus is set to sloppy, but (left) clicking in fullscreen apps clicks through, resulting in a right click popup or apps behind the fullscreen app being pushed to the top, as Binero experienced. I tried changing to all the window focus modes, and setting it to 'click' works best, but not completely. I use 2 monitors, and with 'click' if I select a window on the other screen and then click on the fullscreen app on the first screen, it clicks through again, so not a working solution.
    In any case, using 'sloppy/mouse' window select mode is essential for me, so using 'click' would be a regression for my workflow, even if it worked.
    I really hope there's a solution to this, as it really affects the use of my PC. Not sure if this is an Arch bug, since I've not experienced in Fedora w. Gnome-Shell (though this is with Gnome 3.10, have to try a newer Fedora release).

  • SWF transparency in IE9-Vista. Nightmare.

    I have scoured the web looking for expert input on this issue and sadly I can find none. I am laughable when it comes to Flash, my ability is poor at best. But I have about 6 websites I've made over the last few years, most of which have simple swf files embedded into the html via the <script><noscript> method using the AC_RunActiveContent script. Two of them have nav menus made with Flash, their displaying properly is DEPENDENT on their having transparent backgrounds. The use of "wmode" and "transparent" in the param and embed tags has always worked for me, until now, and the only problem is when the sites are viewed in IE9 running on Win Vista. My main work computer is Win 7 with the 5 major browsers, including IE9, which displays swf transparency fine across all browsers. Recently I went to my wife's office where there are three machines with Windows Vista +IE9.. and one with Windows XP + IE8. The sites display properly as they always have on XP. But on the machines that have Vista OS with the updated IE9 browser, there is a BLACK BOX bg on every swf file of every web page I've ever built. My most recent Flash embed was done with Dreamweaver CS4 and its different embedding method, no <noscript> tags, and different js files. No matter whether I embed the swf with the AC-RunActiveContent.js method or the swfobject_modified.js method of CS4, when I view my pages pages containing Flash objects on Vista machines with IE9, there is that horrible black box background behind the swf.
    My first couple of sites were primitive at best, all tabled html, but at least the Flash content displayed the way I wanted it to. I wanted to know if there is a way to embed these swf objects differently so that viewers with Vista + IE9 will see the transparency properly. I know there has to be a way, but my limited knowledge has not found it yet. I would appreciate any input from people who know the ropes. Thanks.

    I just noticed something else interesting. Since I know my code skills are poor, I wanted to find a site with PROPERLY embedded swf object on an html page, just to see if it had the same issue as what I'm experiencing when viewing on IE9-Vista. I went to nedwebs.com and it displays fine, but your site is a flash site, so it's not a true comparison to an html page with swf on the page. Then I found this TUTORIAL page, showing the "proper" way to embed a transparent flash object on an html page. The url is here, go look at the animated leaves swf file on this page to see what it is SUPPOSED to look like ...
    http://www.aleosoft.com/flashtutorial_transparent.html
    Now look at the screen shot I have attached. This is how a "properly" embedded transparent swf displays on IE9 with Vista OS.
    You're supposed to see a back-image as well as text through the leaves. On IE9-Vista you see none of this, only BLACK behind the swf, and just the left edge of the back image.

  • Is it possible to have emtpy space in program that can "click through"?

    I am writing a java program that would need me have a table look that I can click through the space in the square within the table, so I can click on the stuff on Windows desktop. Is it even possible with Java?
    Thanks a lot!

    This is part of my school project.
    I am working a program that is a table, and detect the color on the windows desktop area under each "hole", once the color change, the program would do something to show this "hole" has something change. I need to able to click in the "hole" as well, directly click the Windows area right under the Java. That's why I need to do "true" transparent for the "hole" area in the table.
    Really hope someone knows how to do it.

  • Quiz problems, white screen appears, quiz freezes, cannot get consistent responses when adding click-through assessment questions to the quiz.

    Why would I get a white screen after answering a quiz click-through?

    You'll have to do two things.. Elaborate on exactly what you mean by a white screen appears. What is turning white? Are you generating a SWF from captivate of a screen capture session, then trying to load that SWF with a wrapper and when you do so it turns white? (In that scenario, if Captivate was looking for external assets it can't find, that'd be why). Please include more details on that.
    Second, code of this size pasted into the forum really doesn't help. You'll need to do the work to isolate exactly what part of the code you're seeing this white box appear. Run it in a debugger line by line until you witnesss it turn white and only share that small portion of code. And if you do choose to share a ton of code, please use a site like pastebin.com which will retain formatting and color coding, making it much easier to read, and then share that pastebin link.

  • Clicking through objects

    Hi there,
    I have  elements on the stage that have animated opacity, which is all well and good. The problem is that even at fully transparent they are still present on the stage, and so I cannot click through them to access the below elements. I have tried using .hide and setting the Display to Off until their timeline begins to play, but to no avail. Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks
    PS To clarify, I need to get a symbol from another symbol, set display to On then play it. At the moment I amusing something like this:
    var popUpgo = sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("Man_popup").play();

    Hi ,
    You can set the css property pointer-events to none . Take a look at the attached sample .

  • Transparent area of lighweight components transparent for events?

    Hello,
    I'm making lightweight components by extending JComponent. These contain a CubicCurve2D line which I want to be sensitive to mouseevents.
    My question is: How do I make the transparent areas within the component bounds transparent for mouse events?
    I want the events only to apply to the CubicCurve2D not the whole rectangle. So I want components that can overlap and only painted parts of the component to respond to mouse events and those showing through transparent areas to also respond.
    Any help would be much appreciated as I'm really stumped on this!

    I previously implemented the project like this but was concerned that it required excessive searching for intersections on Mouse events... using up lots of processing power and generally being clunky.
    I am creating many of these curves (100's) and was hoping to optimize performance by allowing each one to repaint itself (avoiding repainting the whole lot) in response to mouse overs, clicks etc.
    Is there anyway to define the bounds of a component to match it's painted area?
    For example if I created a round button that partially overlapped a square button; how could you avoid activating the round button when clicking outside of the circle but inside it's rectangular bounds while still activating the square button underneath this transparent area?

  • Behaviours not working in PDF prototype [click-through]

    I'm trying to create a click-through PDF using Behaviours to swap out images onClick. My aim is to create a prototype PDF of a website for my Portfolio by mimicking a Spry Widget.  Please see image below.
    FYI:  I do have an issue with the Main-Nav which uses simple slices linked to their named page [via Link in Properties].  These are naturally shared in each page via Web Layer from a Master Page.  This menu doesn't function in Preview mode or once exported or previewed in a browser.[Google].  However, it does click-through in PDF format!  So all good there.
    I'm concerned with the 2nd Nav set; 1.1 to 1.9.  A simple set of rectangular Slices linking to the content area below - a single large rectangular Slice.  These Slices are not in the Master Page but located in the Design page of my document, and in all the States of the Design page, of which there are 12 in total. This Nav bar has simple UP, OVER and DOWN States that swap-out and seem to work fine and click-through OK, if previewed in a browser and in Preview mode within Fireworks.
    However, click-through does not function in a PDF.  Each nav-tab Slice is using Behaviours: onMouseOver | Set Nav Bar Image and the second Behaviour being: onClick Swap Image, then names the correct slice to show onClick in the Behaviours' Panel.
    I have tried variations such as adding a Hotspot to create a hand on rollover and clicked and unclicked various Behaviour options in the Behaviours Panel to no avail.  I wondered if it was a PDF option that needed fixing much like when exporting a file from InDD but I can't find a suitable PDF option.  I read elsewhere about not using Animated Gif as an Image File Type but that didn't work either.  When I export to PDF, there aren't the Slice Save options available for PDF.  Also Fireworks defaults to export to Acrobat Pro, though if I view in Pro or Reader the click-through still fails.
    I'm fairly new to Fireworks but would really like to get to grips with it and I love this prototype wizardry.  I'd like to know why the click-thru fails in PDF but functions in browser and FW Preview and why Main Nav functions in PDF but not browser?
    So any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Blanche

    The original post did not indicate the method of creating the PDF. The result that was obtained was what happens when you print to the Adobe PDF printer. To get the hyperlinks embedded in the PDF, you have to use the PDF Maker (create PDF in WORD 2007).

  • Click Through / Click Wrap when Opening PDF

    What is the best way to display a Click Through (Click Wrap) Agreement when opening a PDF? The Agreement is a non-disclosure and copyright notice for the information contained in the PDF. I do not want the user to be able to print or view the PDF until the user has agreed to the notice.
    I have seen dialog box examples that are modal (user must close the box before navigating the document); is this the best way have a click through agreement?
    Other than programming, each PDF, can this type of information be automated using distiller's prefix.ps and suffix.ps files (last time i programmed PDF was in 2003 and i can't exactly remember the 'processing file' names)?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Rave,
    I have tried using both IE10 and 11.  I have reset the browser to default settings and tried again, and I have also tried Adobe Reader 10 and the latest 11.0.10.
    This issue did not occur until we upgraded from IE8 to IE10.
