  • Integration of CUCM 8.5 with Microsoft Lync 2010 issues

    Hi All,
We have integrated CUCM 8.5 with Microsoft Lync 2010 (both Mediation and front end server on Virtual machine on same location) on lab environment, and which is working perfectly on both ways (Two way calls with no issues). But, when we tried configuring the same on live environment, we have no two ways calling between Lync client and IP phone endpoints. Our Mediation and front server are in U.S and CUCM 8.5 cluster are in India and lync clients are in India region, connected via MPLS link and all the traffic ports are open. The following are the configuration on both sides:
    CUCM side:
•- Created Direct SIP trunk with MTP enabled.
•- Assigned Mediation server IP address to Port 5068.
    •- TCP enabled
    LYNC Side:
•- Followed the steps from Cisco Lync integration document through cisco website.
Are they any other configuration requires, when the servers are in different location?

You configure the CUCILync client as a shared line.  You then tell the CUCILync client what to control either the desk phone or use the CUCILync client itself.  When CUCILync controls the phone it is not registered in CUCM.  CUCILYNC will still give a screen POP when the desk phone is controlled.

  • Share desktop with Microsoft Lync

    Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to share desktops with Microsoft Lync peers?  I would like to be able to view as well as share my desktop.  I have a working pidgin sipe configuration, but haven't come across any documentation indicating pidgin can work like lync (share/view desktops).
Any other ideas as to what I might try?
    Thanks,
    Walter

Thanks Holger. That blog is a bit over my head but also helpful. I had my network guy check our configuration on our Edge and 3478 UDP is open in both directions for the A/V service and IP so not sure what the issue is. As for our firewall, anything over
    1024 should be allowed out.
In this particular incident, Microsoft sent me the meeting request and I initiated the request by clicking on the link in the email launching my locally installed Lync client. Microsoft tech then made me the presenter at which point I had the option to share
my desktop. It's at this point that the connection drops.
I turned on Centralized logging and clicked on the meeting invite from Microsoft one more time. The tech at the other end was not there of course but I did generate some traffic that I was able to view using Centralized logging. I determined that the traffic
is most definitely going through the Edge server at least in this situation.
I did find an error in the log that was interesting and have a question on. The error read:
ms-diagnostics: 1017;reason="Cannot route From and To domains in this combination";summary="Cannot route between the source and destination domains because
    partner discovery is not enabled";external-domain="microsoft.com";external-type="domain-type-remote";internal-domain="mydomain.com"
    ";internal-type="domain-type-local";source="My edgeserver.com"
    ms-edge-proxy-message-trust: ms-source-type=EdgeProxyGenerated;ms-ep-fqdn=fqdn of my Edge;ms-source-verified-user=verified
I took a look in Control Panel and under Federation and External Access --> Access Edge Configuration -->Enable partner domain discovery is NOT enabled. I am thinking
I should not have to have a Federation with Microsoft to have a Lync meeting and share my Desktop, correct?
I don't think turning this option on is a good thing because it looks like it will automatically establish a Federation with anyone and you lose control over which companies you want to Federate with.

  • Ethernet connectivity issue with Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS)

Just recently updated my OS to Yosemite, and am now having ongoing problems connecting to my company's Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS).
I'm having no other issues connecting to outside server's via wifi or ethernet, but once I connect to our local business server I lose internet connection and also my email account goes offline (Microsoft Outlook 2011). Sometimes the connection will intermittently return, but will be very slow and won't load images. I had no connection issue's before the update.
    Anyone experienced a similar problem?

"That depends on what what resources you use the server for."
    - I will be using the printer for print sharing and file sharing. There is an estimating application I will load on a Mac Mini and will want to share that to other desktops.

  • Spa504g with Microsoft Lync 2010

    Hi
I just want to ask if the spa504g can be registered to  microsoft lync 2010 directly? Does anyone here manage to do this? If  not directly then what are the appliance needed?

  • Compatibility with Microsoft Small Business Server?

The table of Windows compatibility in the FAQ here on OTN says that all four versions (Enterprise, Standard, Personal, and Client) of Oracle9i Release 2 are supported on Windows Server 2003, and that "Server 2003" includes Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, Web (32bit), and Enterprise and Datacenter (64-bit).
Does anyone know if this includes Microsoft Small Business Server? Microsoft SBS is a collection of components and techologies, including, it says on the box, "Windows Server 2003 technology".
Thanks for sharing any experience you have had.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
    have a look at this http://www.applesource.com.au/how-to/soa/Connect-a-Mac-to-Windows-Small-Business -Server/0,2000451082,339287478,00.htm

  • Lync Server Integration with Exchange 2013

    Hello,
I have Exchange 2013 standard edition server installed and running successfully on a Windows 2012 machine. Now, I would like to have a Lync 2013 server integrated with it. I came across some links telling that its not possible to integrate Unified Messaging
in the Exchange standard edition and would need an Enterprise edition license. But, when I checked my ECP, I could see that UM is already there and its enabled.
So, Is it possible to integrate Lync 2013 with Exchange 2013 standard edition? What all things I need to take care of while Integrating? If someone could shed some light on this, that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nash Burns

Yes you can integrate Lync 2013 with Exchange 2013 Standard, the only big difference between Exchange 2013 Standard vs Enterprise is the number of mailbox databases (5 vs 50).
Follow this link for information on integrating the two: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688098.aspx (specifically integrating Lync with Exchange for Voicemail http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj687983.aspx)
Having said that, the confusion may be related to User CALs. You need Exchange Enterprise User CALs to use the Unified Messaging components. (I believe they still work regardless, but
to be properly licensed and compliant you need to have the correct number of Enterprise CALs for the number of users that use UM)

  • Problems with SNOM 7XX phones and presence of Lync Edge server

    Hi to all,
we have this problem, this is the scenario (two Lync 2013 st ed. servers):
    - lync 2013 FE server have internal IP address 172.21.212.XXX with internal gateway 172.21.212.254
    - lync 2013 edge server have two network interface:
First INTERFACE: 3 IPs in 172.21.30.XXX (Access, web and A/V Edge) for external connection with 172.21.30.254 and internal gateway (IP NAT with public IP)
Second INTERFACE: IP 172.21.212.XXX for internal connection without gateway
    - snom 7XX (50 phones) are connect to the lync server and all internal call works fine. All phones are in an internal dedicated network 172.21.218.XXX with default gateway 172.21.218.254
    - when making external call with 7XX SNOM phones, the call was routed to Trunk COLT with Lync Mediation server and all works fine.
    - when Lync Mediation server receive a call from our trunk COLT we have this situation:
All Lync 2013 clients work fine, audio is OK, (network 172.21.216.XXX)
Polycom CX3000 work fine audio is OK (network 172.21.218.XXX)
SNOM 710, 720, 760  FW 8.8.2.16 UC series,  phones ring but NO SOUNDS from the phones and after a few seconds "Call failed due to network issues."
The only way to solve the problem is to disable the connection with Lync Edge server (remove gateway 172.21.30.254)
BUT this is not the solution because now we have no connection with INTERNET (skype, web conferencing doesen't work without edge gateway)
Why SNOM phones try to use the EDGE gateway to connect the call? Why doesn't use Lync Mediation server?
Can you help us to find a solution?
    Thanks
    Aurelio

    Hi,
Thanks to all for yours support.
Today, we have done some test (no employee in office today
    J) and we have solved the problems.
The old implementation have had this configuration:
    - the phone numbers have had a no E.164 format compliant: for all users number, the phone number have had this format TEL:012345XYZW ; EXT=XYZW with the normalization
    rules:
    Starting digits: 01234567
    Length: At least 8 digits
    Digit to remove: 0
    Digit to add: nothing
    Pattern to match ^(01234567\d*)$
All worked fine with this previous configuration:
Lync 2010 std with only mediation server function + Lync 2013 std front-end with all the others functions and Lync 2013 std Edge server for external connection with
Lync client Skype world, BUT we have had disabled in SNOM phones ICE function because if ICE was enabled no voice can we hear from the phones.
After dismissed Lync 2010 with only a Lync 2013 infrastructure, this configuration don’t permit to use edge server because with ICE enabled or disabled no voice from
    SNOM phones.
Today we have done this operation:
Setting in Lync 2013 control panel all number for all users, in E.164 format compliant:
The phone number now have this format TEL:+39012345XYZW ; EXT=XYZW and we have deleted the previous normalization roles.
We have added this role for the EXT numbers:
    Name: Routing Interno
    Starting Digits: XY
    Length: Exactly 4 (i.e. XYZW)
    Digit to remove 0
    Digit to add: +39012345
    Pattern to match: ^(XY\d(2))$
    Translation rule: +39012345$1
    Internal extension = checked
    And now all work fine.
    We have solved another problem:
Lync client 2013 can't find new users:
all new Lync users are not discovered from Lync 2013 client, probably because this setting is present with Lync 2010:
    PS C:\> Get-CsAddressBookConfiguration
    Identity
    : Global
    RunTimeOfDay
    : 1:30 AM
    KeepDuration
    : 30
    SynchronizePollingInterval : 00:00:30
    MaxDeltaFileSizePercentage : 20
    UseNormalizationRules
    : True
    IgnoreGenericRules
    : False
    EnableFileGeneration
    : True
With only Lync 2013 servers we have changed
    IgnoreGenericRules to True
To set UseNormalizationRules and IgnoreGenericRules to true for Lynk 2013 infrastructure.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205160.aspx
For us all the problems are SOLVED!

  • High Packet Loss on Media Gateway and Mediation Server leg

    Hello,
We have recently begun to receive SCOM alerts showing a high percentage of poor voice quality on calls that are being sent to voicemail.  QoE Reports show an extremely high packet loss on the Media Gateway and Mediation Server leg of the call.
The SCOM alerts are similar to this:
Alert: Media quality alert for gateway and Mediation Server leg
    Source: Microsoft.LS.2010.QoE.Metric.AudioQuality.GatewayMS
Path: MonServer01;10.1.1.1 - FESERVER01;10.1.1.1 - FESERVER01 Last modified by: System Last modified time: 9/13/2013 9:16:17 AM Alert description:
Following are the details for this media quality alert:
Media quality alert for:  Gateway and Mediation Server leg  "10.1.1.1 - FESERVER01"
    Total calls = 51
    Poor quality calls = 12
    Poor quality call percentage (%) = 23.53
Following are the average values for call classification metrics:
    Average network degradation = 0.08
    Average jitter (ms) = 1.86
    Average packet loss (%)  =  3.71
Average round trip time (ms) = 0.00
    Average concealed metric (%) = 16.33
    Average stretched metric (%) = 0.57
    Average compressed metric (%) = 0.92
These alerts did not seem to be popping up until we enabled Media Bypass and CAC.  The call setup looks like this:
MEDIANT 3000 -> MEDIATION SERVER -> UM SERVER
We have had our networking team take a look at all legs of the network between subnets and they do not find any dropped packets.
Any ideas what might be causing this to happen ONLY on calls that are transferred to voicemail?
    Thanks.

Please try to disable Media Bypass and CAC to check if still have the issue.
Try to enable Media Bypass and CAC one at a time to check which cause the packet loss.
Tyr to use Lync Logging Tool to collect trace file on Lync Mediation Server.

    Hi Lisa,
I Turned off CAC and left Media Bypass on.  I received 87% packet loss, although when listening to the voicemail, I heard no drops at all.  Here are the stats:
    Audio Stream (Caller -> Callee)
        Codec: PCMA Sample rate: 8000
        Packet utilization: 947
Avg. packet loss rate: 26.40 % Max. packet loss rate: 87.11 %
Avg. jitter: 1 ms Max. jitter: 3 ms
Burst duration: 5000 ms Burst gap duration: 8690 ms

Avg. concealed samples ratio: 21.00 % Avg. stretched samples ratio: 0.00 %

Avg. network MOS: 1.91 Min. network MOS: 1.50
Avg. network MOS degradation: 1.81 Max. network MOS degradation: 2.23
NMOS degradation (jitter): 0.00 % NMOS degradation (packet loss): 99.00 %
        Audio Stream (Callee -> Caller)

Avg. jitter: 0 ms Max. jitter: 0 ms
Avg. round trip: 0 ms Max. round trip: 0 ms
Then I turned on CAC and turned off Media Bypass.  Left a message.  0% Packet Loss.  Voicemail sounded perfect once again.  Here are the stats:
    Audio Stream (Callee -> Caller)
        Codec: PCMA Sample rate: 8000
Audio FEC: False Bandwidth estimates: 0 Kbps
        Packet utilization: 1066

        Audio Stream (Caller -> Callee)
        Codec: PCMA Sample rate: 8000
        Packet utilization: 1866
Avg. packet loss rate: 0.00 % Max. packet loss rate: 0.00 %
Avg. jitter: 2 ms Max. jitter: 9 ms
Burst duration: 0 ms Burst gap duration: 36000 ms

Avg. network MOS degradation: 0.15 Max. network MOS degradation: 0.18
NMOS degradation (jitter): 0.00 % NMOS degradation (packet loss): 0.00 %
The kicker is, with media bybass enabled, the call going to Voicemail (Exchange UM) is not a media bypass call.  The Lync Mediation server is handling the call in both instances (Media Bypass ON or OFF).
I'm thinking it's a problem with the reporting feature since no visible/physical packet loss can be seen or heard.  Our issue also lies with the fact that it's throwing of our call quality stats for the day because of the amount of "poor calls" going
    to voicemail.
I would really love to figure this out.  Any thoughts?
