Code Style one character indent after a comment line

I have a problem with "Code Style" formatting undesirably. Any time I put a comment (//) line into my code the next line is indented one space. I can't find any setting in "Code Style" that alters this. I end up doing a lot of manual format editing to get rid of those spaces (the real problem is when I cut and paste a large block of code after a comment line - then the entire code block, every line, has that extra space of indenting).
Does anyone know how to alter this behavior?
This is with JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.

You can use an "indent to here" character before Diesel or set up your paragraph as follows
left indent 0.125" (or whatever)
first line indent -0.125"
You should use your existing paragraph style, too. No need for a new one the way you've described it.

    Any solution?

    hi user474075
    I have noticed something similar for which I have created service request 3-1764420131 ,
    which resulted in bug 9740870 , "CODE STYLE USE TAB CHARACTER ISSUE"
    for which "... We are waiting for the review process of the bug to be completed. ... "
    So, if you can create your own service request (at http://support.oracle.com ) and refer to bug 9740870 that might speed things up.

  • Character Styles Panel not refreshing after adding character styles

    Hello,
    Anyone know how to get Illustrator's Character Styles panel to refresh after programatically adding new styles by calling CreateCharStyle()?
    Currently, the user must save the document and reopen it in order for Illustrator to refresh the character style list within the UI.  This is obviously not ideal.
    You may replicate this issue in the sample code by executing the SnippetRunner Text Styles snippet and then executing the CreateCharacterStyle snippet.  This sample code also successfully adds a new character style but fails to update the Character Styles panel within the UI.
    One side note: The AIATECurrentTextFeaturesSuite has an Invalidate() method.  I tried adding this call but it doesn't seem to have any impact.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    I'm seeing success with the Notification call in CS4 too; thanks. But not in CS5 (Windows). I still need to save the document to refresh the panel. And (in fact, probably due to this fact), while the new Style has appeared, none of the features (such as font size, leading) that I have added using NewCharStyle.SetFeatures(features) show up. Any clues? The code (basically copied from the SnipperRunner project) is identical between CS4 and CS5; I'm just building against the different SDKs.

  • Trouble nesting more than one Character Style...

    I am trying to create the below heading in CS5 on a Mac:
    Lesson 2.1: Who am I?
    So I made the Lesson 2.1 a character style called "Lesson #." And then I made Who am I? a paragraph style called "Lesson title" and nested the "Lesson #" though 1 colon. And that worked great. But then I felt like the space between "Lesson #" and "Lesson Title" was too big. (This seems really nit-picky I know but the boxes the lesson titles need to fit in are small and the titles vary in length so I was trying to save all the space I could for the longer titles.)
    Lesson 2.1: Who am I?
    So I made the space (see the underline above) a character style of it's own that was the same as the "Lesson Title" in all aspects except that it was 11 pt font. I then made this a nested style in the "Lesson Title" that came after "Lesson #" through 1 letter.
    But it doesn't seem to be working very well...which made me question if there was something else I needed to do in order to nest more than one character style? Or whether I should be even approaching this issue in this way....
    Thank you for any thoughts on this!

    YES!!! IT WORKED! I think InDesign and I are now friends. All my styles are working! (knock on wood.)
    Weird that the horizontal scaling would work though and not changing the font size? or maybe I jsut don't understand exactly how InDesign thinks yet...

  • Find texts with more than one Character Style applied

    Hi,
    If you need to find - and replace/restyle - texts where more than one Character Style is applied - here is tool for you - for ID CS3 and ID CS4:
    http://www.adobescripts.com/search.php?query=multi+findreplace+grep&action=results
    You can define options for up to 8 characters - by using GREP expressions.
    Script is only for PC platform.
    robin

    Never tried with bullets but nested styles might work... I think you can chain two or more nested style, and then you can define first nested style to effect only first character, second nested style to next character and so on....

    Some additional comments:
    You really don't want to read any file one character at a time, because it is highly inefficient. More typically, you read the entire file into memory with one operation (or at least a large chunk, if the file is gigantic) and then do the rest of the operations in memory.  One easy way to analyze it one byte at a time would be to use "string to byte array" and then autoindex into a FOR loop, for example.
    Of course you could also read the file directly as a U8 array instead of a string.

  • Tab Setting in Code Style

    JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 (PS2)
    We're using a code style with
    -- Indentation Size = 4
    -- Use Tab Character = Checked
    -- Tab Size = 4
    Every time we restart JDeveloper, my documents appear to be reformatted with a tab setting of 2, although the code style still says it's 4. I can reformat the document by going into Code Style, and clearing the Tab Checkbox. I then have to go back in and recheck it. Can someone please take a look?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    There appear to be bugs filed for this and related issues already (c.f. bug#9793235). They are marked as fixed in 11.1.2 or 11.1.1.4 (depending on the bug) - I guess you could file an SR and ask for a backport to 11.1.1.3

    I need to be able to read one character at a time from a string (txt file) and convert each char to its ACSII code.
    How do to I read one char at a time from a string to enable processing?
    Thanks for your help.

    Here is an over the top solution that will display the Hex value of the character codes of every character in the file.
    TextWindow.Write("Enter full file name: ")
    filnam = TextWindow.Read()
    contents = File.ReadContents(filnam) 'read the entire file
    TextWindow.Clear()
    TextWindow.WriteLine("File Name: " + filnam)
    TextWindow.WriteLine("Offset: 0")
    col = 0
    row = 5
    TextWindow.CursorLeft = col
    TextWindow.CursorTop = row
    For i= 1 To Text.GetLength(contents)
    ch = Text.GetSubText(contents, i,1)
    chVal = Text.GetCharacterCode(ch)
    ConvertToHex()
    TextWindow.CursorLeft = col
    If chVal < 32 Then
    TextWindow.Write(".")
    Else
    TextWindow.Write(ch)
    EndIf
    TextWindow.CursorLeft = 20 + 2 + (col * 3)
    TextWindow.Write(Text.GetSubText(hexstr,1,2))
    col = col + 1
    If col = 8 Then
    col = col + 1
    EndIf
    If col > 16 Then
    col = 0
    row = row + 1
    If row > 20 then
    TextWindow.CursorTop = 23
    TextWindow.CursorLeft = 25
    TextWindow.Write("< < < Press ENTER to Continue > > >")
    TextWindow.Read()
    TextWindow.Clear()
    TextWindow.WriteLine("File Name: " + filnam)
    TextWindow.WriteLine("Offset: " + i)
    row = 5
    EndIf
    TextWindow.CursorTop = row
    EndIf
    EndFor
    TextWindow.WriteLine("")
    TextWindow.WriteLine("")
    Sub ConvertToHex
    HexValue[0] = "0"
    HexValue[1] = "1"
    HexValue[2] = "2"
    HexValue[3] = "3"

    Where does one set space after paragraph in the new Pages 5.0? It used to be under text in the Inspector in the previous version, but I just can't find it in this new version. Paragraphs seem to only be dealt with in styles, and the Formatting window for text doesn't seem to have the space after paragraph contrtol that the older Inspector had. What am I missing?

  • How do I display font one character at a time?

    Right now the way I present my font is it all appears
    instanenous. I don't know if this is even possible or not, but I
    would like to find a way to have the font be displayed one
    character at a time over the course of a variable amount of
    seconds. For example, some of you might recognize this font
    presentation from the game "Phoenix Wright" for the Nintendo DS:
    Click
    here
    for example.
    That is the font effect I'm trying to capture - where the
    font is presented in a character by character fashion. Now
    obviously I could achieve this by putting a new letter on every
    frame, but let's be realistic - that's not the logical way to do
    it. Does anyone know the code/options involved in making this font
    display stylization logically possible? Bonus points if you know
    how to make the characters mouths move with the sychronized font
    and then stop once the text stops =).

    Place a dynamic textfield on your stage and label it myText.
    In frame one place the following code,to increase the write
    speed lower the value of 100 in the setinterval call:
    myText.text="";
    var dText="My text I want to display";
    var dTmr=setInterval(ShowNextChar,100,0);
    var cPos=0;
    stop();
    function ShowNextChar()
    myText.text=myText.text+dText.substr(cPos,1);
    cPos++;
    if (cPos==dText.length) clearInterval(dTmr);
    }

  • Reading one character at a time

    Hello
    How can i read one character at a time from standard input (System.in) ?
    I have tried to use

    But this method blocks until it gets a return key pressed before going forward
    Any other solution?

    public static char readChar() {

    boolean done = false;

    if (r == '\r') {
    System.out.println("Not a character. Please try again!");
    System.in.skip(1);
    done = false;
    } else {
    System.in.skip(2);
    done = true;
    } catch (java.io.IOException e) {
    done = true;
    return r;
    Try this as an method and then use it..
    This code will read will be in response untill you hit the return key but will take only the first character....

  • ExtendScript Illustrator - Change color of text one character at a time.

    I'm trying to write code for ExtendScript ToolKit to target Illustrator. I've been writing in JavaScript, but am open to switching to AppleScript if needed. The goal of the code is to change the characters in a text box one by one to the color of the image behind that letter. The end goal is to have the color of the text create the image.
    Basically, I select a character. And lets say that character is at 720x648 (in pixels) in a 24x36 in image. Then I detect the color in the image layer at that location. Then turn the selected character to that color.
    I have encountered two problems, finding a way to have the script detect the color of the picture at a given location (ideally in pixels) and then change that one character to that color.
    So far my code is this, with a color hard coded in for testing purposes since I haven't figured out the detection part yet.
    if ( app.documents.length > 0 ) {
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    //get text from textbox
    var numChars = 0;
    textArtRange = doc.textFrames[0].contents;
    numChars += textArtRange.length;
    //loop through to select characters one at a time
    for (x=0; x<numChars; x++){
         var selectChar=textArtRange.charAt(x)
         doc.characterStyles.removeAll();
         var charStyle=doc.characterStyles.add("NewOne");
         var charAttr=charStyle.characterAttributes;
         var detectedColor = new RGBColor();   //ideally the detected color would go here. But for now it is hard coded.
             detectedColor.red = 242;
             detectedColor.green = 51;
             detectedColor.blue = 51;
         charAttr.fillColor = detectedColor;
         charStyle.applyTo(selectChar); // I got an error here: "Object expected".
    }//end for loop
    To detect the color, I tried using the following code, but it only works in Photoshop and even there I can't find a way to store that color the way I need to.
    app.activeDocument.colorSamplers.removeAll();
    var pixelLoc = [UnitValue(16) , UnitValue(16)];
    var myColorSampler = app.activeDocument.colorSamplers.add(pixelLoc);
    I have put in so many hours into this and just want to rip my hair out. Any help or guidance anyone can give would be SO appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

    finding a way to have the script detect the color of the picture at a given location (ideally in pixels)
    there's no native command to do this in illustrator,
    I tried using the following code, but it only works in Photoshop.....
    unless you get extremely lucky (working with matching Object names) photoshop code won't work in Illustrator.
    a possible workaround, clip your text to your image, rasterize it, trace it, you might end up with a solid color per character, where you could read their color.

  • My iMac keeps typing a minus sign. I switched my wireless keyboard for a plug in Windows keyboard, and it keeps typing this one character. I took the batteries out of the Mac keyboard, so that is not the problem. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

    my iMac keeps typing a minus sign. I switched my wireless keyboard for a plug in Windows keyboard, and it keeps typing this one character. I took the batteries out of the Mac keyboard, so that is not the problem. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8. In parallels, I don't have any problem, just on the Mac platform.

    Thanks for your observation. I realize they are different versions, but when I use the "Software Update" menu, this is as far as it would update. Is there some way to update the iMac beyond what "Software Update" does? I've tried it several times.
    Please Note.
    Upgrading OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion) is not an update. It is a paid upgrade. Just as with 10.7 (Lion) you must purchase it from the App Store with yor Apple ID and install it after backing up your current computer state for safety.
    Cheers
