Concept of backflush in material

Hi experts,
can anybody explain me what is Backflushing and when we should use this tick ?
Thanks
Ashis

Hi Ashis,
Each material component is assigned to an operation in the production order.  If a material component is backflushed, the system posts the withdrawal only upon confirmation of the operation. The withdrawal is then posted automatically {Backflushing is automatic accounting (Goods issues - 261 mvt) of material consumed for production, at the time of confirmation.}.
Backflush is used for material which are a must and having fixed relationship.
This can be configured in MRP2 Screen, Work centre, Routing or production order.

    Hi Gurus,
We have a business scenarion where we do manual staging for production , the staging area has different bins within the same storage type for the same material, I am wondering if there is a way to backflush the material from different storage bins upon prod. order confirmation (using a control cycle?)

Look like it's not possible using the SAP standard.

  • What is the concept of  view in material master?

    Hello sap gurus
    Some quetions regarding Material Master
what is  the concept of views in material master ?
what is determined by specifying industry sector in material master ?
To sell material which views are material are maintened in Material master?
    Regards
    Amit

    Hi,
<b>Material master  for finished ggods is related with SD, MM & PP departments</b>. If you carefully go through the various screens in MM record you will realize the importance of the respective fields and the department to which they belong.
<b>1.Suppose Base unit of measure</b> in Basic data 1 screen. The production people will keep the stock of the item using this UOM.
<b>2. In Sales:Sales Org.1</b> screen we have sales unit in which we will sell the material.
<b>3. Then we have the plant</b> data in which we enter the delivering plant. Also the taxes are determined from the plant so we have the settings for taxes also - whether this material is fully taxable/50% tax/Tax exempted.
<b>4. Then we have purchasing</b> screen in which the data like the purchasing group, variable units, etc are entered. This will effect the purchasing cycle when we are procuring a material from outside. This is related to MM.
<b>5. The we have MRP</b>, this is related to PP as to how to manufacture the product, the MRP type, the strategy group - whether it is MTO/MTS like that.
<b>5. Sales:Sales Org.2 screen</b> - Here we mainatin the account assignment group which is very important as far as the generation of the accounting document is concerned. This triggers the system where to post the value in which G/L account. Accounting document is generated when we create the invoice in VF01 & save it.
<b>6. Work scheduling</b> - Related with the sceduling of the production as to whether underdelivery or overdelivery is allowed, the storage location
<b>7. Quality</b> - Here you can select for a particular finished item where where it has to be checked for quality during its journey from the raw material stage to the finished goods store as a finished item.
<b>8. Accounting</b> - Related to accounting, product costing, total value of the stock in hand, etc. Also related with FI & PP
So all the screens have data which effects one or more modules for the proper functioning of the system to give the optimum results.
    <b>Industry Sector:</b>
Key that specifies the branch of industry to which the material is assigned.
    <b>Use</b>
When you create a material master record, the industry sector you specify determines
    1. which screens appear and in what order
    2. which industry-specific fields appear on the individual screens
    <b>Screens for Sales:</b>
Sales:Sales Org.1, Sales:Sales Org.2. But other screens also have data which is related to sales. You cannot just maintain the sales views and save the master. It has to be properly linked with the other modules also for the proper functioning of the system. That is why the system is called as "Enterprise Resource Planning" You have to paln the resources of your company and these resources are related with all the modules.
    Reward points if solution helps.

  • Can not backflush with Material document

    Hi everybody,
when i use MF41 to backflush with Material document for Repetitive Manufacturing confirmation i took an information message :
"Reversal to Repetitive Manufacturing as material document exists in document log
    Message no. RM071
    Diagnosis
You have branched into the cancellation via the "material document". The entered material document, however, has already been created with the backflush function from release 3.0.
    System Response
The system swiches to the cancellation automatically via Repetitive Manufacturing. "
I use Z ABAP programs (Batch input) to make a back flush. So i can not backflush with material document because of this message.
How can i disappear this information message or any one else solution? Please urgent help.

  • Backflushing of material and labour - COPC

What is backfluching of material and labour?
    how it hits COPC?
got and FI posting in backfluching of material and labour?

Back flushing is used in Repetitive Manufacturing to record work process in the system. Backflushing is a very lean process, corresponding to the requirements of repetitive, mass or flow manufacturing. For example, you do not have to post any of the actual production data until posting the goods receipt of the finished product in a final backflush. In make-to-stock repetitive manufacturing, you can also backflush at the reporting points of predefined operations. This enables you, for example, to determine the stock of unfinished products in production.

  • QA10 User Exit to run addational code for Material Backflush

Does anyone know if there is a User Exit for QA10 Automatic Usage Decision that will allow you to tack on additional code to complete a material backflush.  I have a batchjob that runs every 5 minutes which fires off a variant to evaluate the Inspection Results.  If all results recording are good the UD gets completed and the material is moved from QI Stock to Unrestricted.  At the same time once the UD and stock transfer is done I would like to run a User exit that will allow me to access a custom lookup table to change the material from CP14.B1 to CP14 and complete a backflush.

Yes you are correct in saying that I want to do another Backflush once the auto UD is completed.  The scheduled job using program RQEVAI30 completes the UD and posts the material from QI Stock to Unrestricted Stock if results are good.  Once the UD is completed and the stock is posted to Unrestricted I need to find a User Exit that will allow me to write custom code to do a table lookup.  This table will also be custom development that we can use to say if material is CP14.B1 and the Insp. Lot Type is 04 then run MFBF to backflush raw material and complete movement type 309 to CP14 Material.  I just need to know if there is a User exit available that I can use once the lot evaluation is completed.

  • Co-product Bulk material

    Hi all,
what is purpose of to use co-product material & bulk material & how to identify the co-product material & bulk material
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ja ck,
    1) co product is product which u get during process itself  for that u have to create material in semifinished good type u have to tick co product .Costing also u can tick for costing relavency .If u want to add cost of this product to process order then you can keep costin g relavency ..During GRN of header material system will also show u ur co product .and also in BOM u have to make co product as negative sign infront of qty u mentioned .Then only u can able to make GRN of co product ..Ex - In process industry u can use this concept more effectively .All recover solvants ,aquous layer 7 other product u can mentioned as  co product .
    2) Bulk material also use in process industry .Ex -water use in process will not part of of costing .so this u can use this as bulk material .Bulk material  will not take in part in MRP . Also u can backflush this material .
any further clarification plse come back

  • Same discontinue and follow up material?

I have used before this function having a follow up material with indicator 1 and effective-out date. However, this time I have 3 materials A, B, C.
The logic I want to use is the following but I'm not sure if SAP supports this:
    A = discontinue material and B = Follow-up material. Using indicator 1
B = discontinue material and C = Follow -up material. Using indicator 1.
So far, SAP is not allowing me to have B as discontinue and follow-up material at the same time. Any insights?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Lee,
If you try to set the discontinuation for a follow-up material, then error message "Message no. 61224 -Multi Level Discontinuation not suported" will be generated when you try to run MRP. Refer Note 398238 - Error message 61224 for parts provided
For more information on Discontinuation data, refer Concept of Discontinuation Data - Material Master and BOM

  • Creation of alternative material in production

    Dear folks,
    I have following requirements:
Customer orders Material A and for some reason (e.g. low stocks), the mrp controller decides to produce an alternative material (B) which is
equal to Material A. This also counts for planned independent requirements.
How can I maintain this in SAP? I tried to use alternative item group in the BOM, but this does not solve my requirement, since this is just a function to assign an alternative BOM position for Material A. I really need to assign an alternative material on header level.
The assignment has to take place before actual production. We cannot use Material Determination (SD) - Transaction VB11.
Any ideas? Is this something we have to develop?
    Kind regards,
    Peter

  • Capture u201CInstallation Chargesu201D of a material sold in Sales Order

    Hi SD Gurus,
We have requirement to capture u201CInstallation Chargesu201D of a material sold in Sales Order. The charges are quantity based and shall be shown separately in sale order & invoice. This charge shall be treated as additional revenue (with separate revenue G/L Account) and shall be maintained as optional. If included as a condition type, we do not want the item totals of the materials to be affected by this condition.
In the existing pricing procedure, the material price field is made mandatory. We tried to enter it as a service line item and entered the u201CInstallation Chargesu201D with a new condition type with new revenue G/L Account. But it insists for a price for the material due the mentioned configuration.
Request your valuable suggestion in achieving this requirement.
    Regards,
    Vikrant

    Hi,
You can achieve this functionality using the Bill of Material concept.
Create the material and its BOM. In the BOM, include the main material and the service. (Case A)
Also maintain an alternative BOM for the same material, the BOM being the material itself and nothing else. (CaseB)
Make the parent item relevant for pricing and child items not relevant for pricing
In sales order, give the main material, so the sales material and service will come.
In Case A, maintain a condition type with a reqmt routine saying that the condition will be valid only if the BOM contains the service item. Maintain the condition record. So, if the BOM contains the material and its service, this condition type will come else it will not come.
If you don't want to charge the service, replace the BOM of case A with the alternative BOM maintained for the material to go to case B.In case B, this extra condition type will not come. Hence only the price of the main material will come.
    Hope this helps u

  • Backflush Semifinished product and stock post to quality inspection stock

    Dear Experts,
Please advise is it possible for the below in SAP. How to do?
When backflush "Semifinished product", system automatically post to quality inspection stock. Then it is skip for 9 lots. The 11th lot again post to quality inspection stock.
1st backflush posting -> post to quality inspection stock
2nd until 10th backflush posting -> post to unrestricted stock (skip)
11th backflush posting -> post to quality inspection stock
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Wong

    Dear Experts,
Let me further explain what I want.
Production people produce semifinished product, but quality inspection people not inspect all the product. For example they will inspect 1st and 11th batch of product only.
So I propose when backflush the semifinished product, system post the stock to quality inspection stock. Then production people know this batch of product need to be inspected and pass to quality inspection people. Once quality inspection people complete the inspection, they will release the material (UD) to unrestricted stock.
I have no idea on how to configure and maybe it is not possible in SAP. Please advise.
Question: Is it we should manually create inspection lot for each transaction (eg. backflush or material movement)?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Material Master for Creating new MM Transaction for creating material

    hai techies,
i have a scenario where the client is already using a transaction to catch the related fields like material number, quantity and other related fields. but until now they have been using this as a central source of point to create a material. they have been using this to create materialsy for the service orientation.
Now they wanna use this same for the engineering concept lke creating the material for R and D and engineering BOM etc.
Will this have any change and any new fileds have to be captured for this?
    Please advice me on this

    Hi,
You can create New screen ,sub screen with fields as per your requirement in material master and those fields can be linked to different tables and programs as per your business process.
