Configure NAS for Lion

I've just upgraded, and can no longer access my NAS drive via go to server; I am told to see my system administrator. That would be me.. Any ideas for changing settings?

I have the same problem with my Conceptronic CH3HNAS and have found a free and easy solution.
Since a lot of people report they are able to access their NAS using apps other than the Finder itself, I decided to look for a free Lion-compatible File Manager to use instead of Finder.
I have found muCommander ( http://www.mucommander.com/ ) and indeed it works fine. All I did was click on the button highlighted bellow, go to "bonjour services" and select my NAS. It prompted me for my username and password and voilá, it works fine.
I keep Finder for everyday use and just load muCommander when I want to access the NAS. At least now I don't have to start my WinXP VM anymore just to access it.
Hope it helps you.

  • Configure NAS for Clusterware

    Hello All,
We are trying to install 10gR2 RAC . We have the following components:
    Linux SUSE 10.2 -- 2 servers
additional NICs -- 2 (per each server above) Qty
    NAS Device (256 MB, 1.2GHz, 2 Network Interfaces) -- 1 Qty
    8-Port Switch -- 2 Qty
    Cat 6 cables -- 6 Qty
We got stuck up on how to configure this NAS and make disks that are visible from both the nodes. The NAS device came with a CD and this software has a provisions to create shares. But we are looking for some kind of document which explains how to create these shares (or shared disks?) so that they are visible to both the nodes.
Since we are not Storage Engineers we are having great difficulties here. Highly appreciate anybody giving reference to some document with steps from scratch.
I will update this thread with each and every step I am doing to configure RAC with the above components so that i would be helpful to all of us here. But I need to move forward with configuring the NAS.
    Thanks.

consult your nas vendor's documentation on how to set up NFS shares, then setup nfs mounts on your linux boxes. there is a metalink note that describes the neccessary mount options you have to set on your linux boxes.

  • How to configure SMTP for iCloud?

I have never used the Mail program on my macs. I started using Eudora in 1995 and when Mail came along some years later, i didn't take to it, it didn't have the functionality i needed and enjoyed. Fast forward to a couple days ago, my Snow Leopard MacBook is wearing out and i got a new MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.  When i was setting up the new computer, i thought iCloud would be configured automatically. It wasn't because i have a couple of different Apple IDs but i think that is straightened out now and i'm signed in using the me.com email address and have my calendars and contacts syncing with iphone and my other computer. Mail is working, but only for my me.com email address which i rarely use.  I mainly use a gmail address.
I don't want to use Mail and i don't want mail to be downloaded to it.  That happened on my other computur, so that i had tens of thousands of messages in a program i never open and don't use. So i somehow turned it off so it no longer gets the mail from my other accounts.  i don't want to receive email in Mail. But because i can't use Eudora in Mountain Lion, i need a new email client. Today, i downloaded and installed Mail Mate, i want to try it out.  When I tried to use Mail mate to send an email i got a message saying "No SMTP server configured for iCloud." i googled how to configure SMTP for iCloud and what i found said it configures automatically. So i don't know what to do. I went to ICloud in system preferences and i don't see anything i can do there.
Is there anything i can get it to do to configure automatically?   All my software is up to date, if that makes a difference.

i was persistently googling search terms for this problem and came across a link that gave information to the effect that for non Apple email clients, SMTP has to be configured manually, and the settings were provided. I entered them into Mail Mate and now it works.  So thankfully, this problem is solved.

  • Hardware Configuration recommendation for SOA/BPM/OSB 11.1.1.5 Cluster

    Hi,
Want to find out what is the recommended hardware configuration including Memory on the box. Trying to install a 2 Node Cluster of SOA 11.1.1.5 with SOA/BPM, BAM, OSB part of the same domain. All binaries to be installed on a NAS. OS is HP-UX. How much memory is ideal on each box if running SOA Service / BPM workflows and processes,BAM,OSB, Custom ADF Task Flow Apps with a large number of transactions. SO wondering what is an ideal configuration. IS there a matrix or a some kind of spreadsheet to come up with the numbers.
    Thanks

Unfortunately there is no simple way to figure this out. The recommendation varies on the basis of multiple factors (from load to avg size of the payload). Please contact your local Oracle Sales Representative and they should help you out in identifying the best possible configuration/sizing for your system.

  • Does Mail (for Lion) have a return receipt function?

i was wondering whether Mail (for Lion) have a return receipt function. I've seen many negative answers, but they're all from 2007 and earlier. How can I configure for some of my messages to have return receipts?

I'm not sure there is a forum for Office for Mac Product Forums, I'd recommend posting there is no one here is able to help.

  • Backup for Lion 10.7.3

What software do i need to purchase to wireless backup more than 1 Mac using time machine? I was checking time capsule but in the description it sasy for Mac OS X leopard or Snow Leopard. Does it works for Lions 10.7.3? Thanks

What exactly do you have and what are you trying to do? Time Machine will back up to any network available storage, so it could be a simple as attaching a HDD to your router (which is what a Time Capsule is). It depends on your setup.
Personally, I spent the same amount as a Time Capsule on a NAS. That way I get RAIDed backup and central storage, and it's upgradable too. Anyway, Time Capsule is completely compatible with Lion, the specs say Leopard or later.

  • Where is airport admin utility for lion

There does not seem to be an airport admin utility for airport extreme, I only have the airport utililty that doesn't seem to allow any setup changes.  It also  does not give options for set up changes  when there is no green light for the base station.

Hi - to get the full featured Airport Utility 5.6 for Lion, go to the following link for the download - you can keep 6.1 and 5.6 on your computer.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Use it to configure the Extreme when you have problems.

  • What happened to "Allow Ethernet Clients" in Airport Utility 5.6 for Lion?

I recently upgraded to cable internet and in reconfiguring my network I have run into a problem using my old AirPort Express (model A1084) as a wireless bridge providing an ethernet connection to my TV.  I have an AirPort Extreme base station creating the wireless network--all systems green on that.
When I go to the wireless configuration in manual setup to add the Express to the existing network, the "Allow Ethernet Clients" checkbox is nonexistent.
I know the functionality exists because I had the network configured in such a way with the previous ISP with no problems.  The only difference is that now I am running Lion on my MBP, so I downloaded Airport Utility 5.6 for Lion because 6.1 was frustrating.
Anybody else have this problem or know of a workaround?

    Hey Bob...
You seem to be the go to guy for "vintage" airport express base station questions.
My issue is similar to the above. So are you saying if you have an A1084 Airport Express there is not an option for Allowing Ethernet clients? I fired up my old MacBook Pro so that I could access an older version of Airport Utilty, but when I tried the other Wireless Modes I was unable to see the "Allow Ethernet clients" check box.
I have an original Apple TV with a bad wireless card that can no longer connect to my wireless network. Apple wanted $169 to replace. So stupid...probably costs them $2. Anyways...Apple Genius suggested connecting via ethernet to my airport express as an option to keep my old Apple TV connected. The only reason I'm not buying a new Apple TV is because I utilize the red and white audio jacks on the back for my outdoor wireless Brookstone speaker, and the new Apple TV's do not have these ports.
On a side note, I'm a 25 year Mac user, but I'm considering the Amazon TV instead of a new Apple TV if I cannot get my older one reconnected to my network. Do you have any opinions on the subject?
    Thanks for your time...
    Chad

  • DHCP on NAS for trusted side

Is it possible to configure NAS (on NAM perhaps) to assign IP addresses to clients on the trusted side - i. e. to act as a DHCP server for the trusted side subnets or change the address through the NAC Agent after the posture assessment is over?

    Boris,
I'm assuming from the question that this is an OOB setup. If so, the agent requests a new IP if you're using Role-Based VLANs with VGW. In OOB RIP setups, it will also request a new IP when it gets on the final VLAN.
CAS giving out IP addresses on the trusted subnets would not be possible, or even a good idea!
    HTH,

  • RAM required for Lion

I have a macBook Air 11" built in 2010. It has 2 mb RAM. Is there any problems running Lion with this configuration. If yes, can you upgrade to more RAM.

Ram is soldered to logic board so it cannot be upgraded.
This page lists the system requirements for lion.  It says MBA 2008 or later so, yes, you can run lion on it.

  • Hi, i'm a new member of this community. I've recently learn about flashback malware and other threats to Mac devices. I've installed the new Mac OS X update for Lion 10.7, and the flashback removal tool. what about the update for Flash Player?

    Hi,
i'm a new member of this community. I've recently learn about flashback malware and other threats to Mac devices. I've installed the new Mac OS X update for Lion 10.7, and the flashback removal tool. What about the update for Flash Player? Should i install it? Otherwise, should i permanently remove this app?
    I realy need some advice.
    Thank's to all.

Be sure to install the latest version of Safari (version 5.1.7) which is available via Software Update (in the Apple menu) if you have not already installed it. This update will automatically disable older versions of Flash when new versions are available, and will instruct you on how to install the latest version on your system. This should help keep your system safe from any vulnerabilities in Flash.
Note that this is only useful if you use Safari, though other browsers have their own update mechanisms you should research and enable or configure to your liking.

  • The boot configuration data for your Pc is missing or contains errors: error code 0x000014c

    Hello,
See if any body may help here... I get this blue screen:
    RECOVERY
Your PC needs to be repaired:
The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors.
    file:\\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD
    Error code: 0xc000014c
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings
First I was able to get into the option 11 and run the whole factory reset, i was so happy because I tought it will be easy.. but then after I did the factory reset.. I keep getting this blue screen. if I press ESC I get into this next screen:
    F1 System Information
    F2 System Diagnostics
    F9 Boot Device Options
    F10 BIOS Setup
    F11 System Recovery
    ENTER - Continue Startup.
this is what happen when I click any of this options:
F1 I get into the System Information with no problems, then I click <ESC> to continue and get back to the last screen... then I press F2 and super, I am able to run Memory Test and Hard Drive Check 100% with no problems in any of those, after I am done with my teste I press exit and I am back to the F1,F2, ETC menu... now I want to try F9, F10 or F11. bummer.. in this 3 options I get back to the blue screen described at the beggining of this post. (I already connect a USB with an boot loader, which works perfectly)
so I can't do anything, nothing at all!! crazzines.
So what I did to check why I can't get into the BIOS or at least to boot from my USB... I removed the botton cover of my laptop and removed the hard drive and that's how then I was or I am able to Log into the BIOS, - I did the changes to boot first from the USB and then from the HD and this is how I was able to boot from the USB - BUT If I connect back the Hard drive, I am not able to get into the BIOS or boot from the USB - so basically I am stuck in this blue screen and I can't boot from a USB if I have the HD connected.. I can't use any option.. no BIOS, nothing.. only if again, i disconnect the HD.
    This is an:
    HP ENVY TS Sleekbook 4
    PRODUCT NUMBER  D1A99UA#ABA
    SYSTEM BOARD ID: 1894
    Bios F.25
**** I though that by updating the BIOS I may be able to get help, nothing. What I did is, I removed the HD and then and boot from the USB and with a DOS command propmt I excecuted the Bios Update from F.21 to f.25... but again, when I installed the hard drive back, BUMMER, nothing I can't do nothing but this silly blue screen.
Any idea of what should I do?
    Thanks in advance.

If you can't access BIOS with the hard disk connected, you certainly won't be able to boot to the usb recovery flashdrive. That is indicative of a failed hard disk.
Install a new hard disk and then boot to the recovery flashdrive.
