Connecting a mic to 3600

I just have the green wire plugged into the back of my sound card, but do i have to connect something extra to get my mic to work in the socket next to the headphone one?

How do I get the computer to see the mic?

    xeckuc,
Maybe you can try to get a stereo splitter adaptor to share the audio output with your speaker.

  • I connect my mic with an M-audio mobile pre usb device.  When I try to record, I can see that my voice is recording but can't hear it during playback.

I connect my mic with an M-audio mobile pre usb device.  When I try to record, I can see that my voice is recording but can't hear it during playback.  I tried different input and output settings but it didn't help.  Any help will be appreciated.

Hear your microphone or instrument as you play and record (monitoring)
You can hear, or monitor, input from an instrument or microphone in GarageBand while you play and record. When you turn on monitoring for a track, you hear the musical instrument or microphone connected to the track’s input. Monitoring lets you hear yourself play so that you can hear the part you want to record as well as the rest of the project.
You can turn on monitoring for a Real Instrument track or Electric Guitartrack from the track’s header, or in the Track Info pane. Electric Guitar tracks always show their monitoring buttons, and you can show monitoring buttons for Real Instrument tracks using a menu command. You can use monitoring with feedback protection to avoid feedback while you play.
    Hide
To turn on monitoring in the track header:
Choose Track > “Show Monitoring for Real Instrument Tracks.”Monitor buttons appear in the headers of Real Instrument tracks. On tracks with monitoring turned on, the button lights yellow.
Click the Monitor button in the header of the track you want to use.
HideTo turn on monitoring in the Track Info pane:
Double-click the header of the Real Instrument or Electric Guitar track you want to turn on monitoring for.The Track Info pane opens.
From the Monitor pop-up menu, choose one of the following:
Choose Off to turn off monitoring. You can hear your instrument only while you record.
Choose On to turn on monitoring and protect against feedback.
Choose On (no feedback protection) to turn on monitoring without feedback protection. If the input level is too high, it may cause feedback (especially if you are using a microphone and listening to your project through your computer speakers).
For an Electric Guitar track, you can view the Monitor pop-up menu by clicking Edit, and then clicking the back side of the amp. The Monitor pop-up menu appears with the input controls below the stage.
You should usually turn off monitoring when you are not playing or singing. When monitoring is turned on, your computer can pick up output from your speakers or monitors, causing unwanted feedback. Using headphones rather than speakers to listen to your projects can help eliminate feedback.
If you select your computer’s built-in microphone as the audio input, in the Audio/MIDI pane of GarageBand preferences, monitoring is turned off for all Electric Guitar tracks to avoid unwanted noise.

  • How to connect fp mic on msi G31M3-L V2 ?

Hi ,Does anybody knows how to connect front panel mic jack or audio jack, the manual for MSI G31M3-L V2 doesnt says anything about JFP2.  I have already connected the three jacks with 5.1 home theater speaker system, and so i do not have free mic jack for my web cam, or one channel for 5.1 speaker system
Free wires are mic_bias, mic_in, Gnd, Spk .. return L, return R, Thanks!

    Hi,
the JFP1 and JFP2 connectors cannot be used for connecting the case's front panel audio ports.  You have to use the JAUD1 Connector.
The Pinouts of the JAUD1 Connector are described in the user manual.  If you want a more detailed pin definition, check the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide, page 22 (Intel® High Definition Audio):

Looks like your case's wiring is not fully compatible with the Intel HD Audio/Azalia Connectivity Standard, so don't be surprised that the JAUD1 Connector has more pins than you have wires. Connecting the microphone should be pretty easy anyway.  There are basically just two possible positions. The GND-Wire goes to the GND-Pin (2).  The two MIC-Wires go to the two MIC-Pins (1 and 3).  Try both positions, one of them should work.  When you test the microphone and it does not work, make sure you try the following things:
    1) Disable the Front Panel Audio Jack Detection in the Realtek HD Audio Manager
    2) Run the microphone calibration utility (called miccal.exe (it is in the Realtek Installation folder))
    3) Enable Microphone Boost

  • Camileo x-sport: Can I connect external mic to micro USB

    Hello everybody,
I need to record audio with a lavalier microphone.
Can i connect an external microphone to the micro USB of the Camileo x-sport to record audio ?

The micro-USB 2.0 port is a computer interface. This means that this port will be used in order to connect the camera to notebook or computer.
The camileo x sports supports an internal microphone and its also possible to increase the mic sensitivity using the option within the settings menu.

  • Any way to connect external mic (gaming headset) to macbook pro?

I just made the mistake of buying a gaming headset that has the two audio jacks, input and output. Realizing that Macs dont have the right audio input port now. Before I take them back, is there any way I could get them to work? The sound is fine, but the mic doesn't work obviously. But I do have a pair of wireless Turle Beaches that I use for my Xbox 360, is there anyway I could take some of the connections from that to get this headset to work? Or do I just need to take it back and get a USB headset.

Most MacBook Pros have both audio in and out, so I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the headset you just bought. I haven't seen any 2012 models, but on older models (my 2011, for instance) the audio out is in front and audio in on the rear of the front left-hand side of the computer. If you have these ports, try them to see if your headphone/mic works before returning it.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • A1330n front panel connections - mic, headphones, speaker

    I have a hp1330n desktop computer
I am updating the motherboard to an ASUS p8H61-M LX plus
The front panel connections for start, reset, hd activity, etc. all work fine when plugged into the 10-1 connector on the asus motherboard
I am trying to figure out if / how I can connect the front panel 4 pin connector for the mic, headphone, speaker that use to be plugged into the 1AUX_IN1 connector on the old motherboard that shipped originally with the a1330n.
There is a 4 pin speaker out connection available on the asus motherboard - +5V, GND, GND, Speaker out, but not sure if I can connect the 4 pin wire coming from the front panel - white, blue, green, red wires (with some modifications) into these available 4 pins.
Or do I just forego this functionality after the upgrade and leave the plug dangling in the case?

I found this, I guess it is compatible with the azalia connections: http://forum.thermaltake.com/files/audioconnector_307.jpg
But I have one more question... looking at the end of the card, which pin is pin ? top left?

  • Connecting external mic to Lumia 800

Is it possible to connect an external microphone to the Lumia 800? Audio pickup quality when recording video is not so good with the in-built mic.

I think the only way would be connecting a wired hands-free set to the phone and using the Mic on that

I'm wondering if it's possible to have two mice connected to an iMac at the sametime. One for general use (Apple Magic Mouse), the other for gaming (Razer Deathadder, not yet purchased). I'm trying to avoid having to constantly plug-in and unplug the gaming mouse.

  • Cannot switch back to built-in output after connecting USB mic

I cannot get playback unless I plug back in my USB mic (Blue Yeti) on Mac OS X.
    I get this notice:
"The selected audio device has no output channels."
I select Default Output to be "built in output" then go to Audio Channel Mapping tab and my output device is saying Yeti stereo microphone (not working).
It is obviously not working because it isn't plugged in. My question is why isnt it using my built in output when the mic is unplugged. Even through the Sound tab in system preferences my output is set to "built in"
I get playback through the mic when it's plugged in, but I need to be able to get playback through my built in output when the mic is not plugged in. Any ideas on this greatly appreciated.

  • How to connect extern mic in to input

How to conect extern mic (Shure sm58)and use it with prologic ?

You could use a small mixer with appropriate cabling, or an actual Audio Interface that's designed for what you want to do. The SM58 is a low impedance Mic and needs a mixer or audio interface.

  • Connection of Mic to iBook

I have a Microphone that I would like to use to record music both vocal and instruments using the GarageBand program. What sort of converter/attachments would work the best to accomplish this. Thanks for the help.

    To help you decide:
USB interfaces are generally cheaper but slower than firewire and cause more latency. Despite this I have no problem getting a tight recording with an iMic connected to my cheapo mixer.
Some of the devices HT listed also have MIDI ports so you do not need a MIDI interface. Garageband software instruments have a distinct advantage over real recording:
    1. There is no external noise in the sound.
2, You don't need to figure out the complexity of mike placement or even decide which mike will work the best.
    3. Getting the correct levels is a hundred times easier.
I have loved the Steinway grand sound that comes with Jampacks 4, an addition to Garageband. My lowly $500.00 keyboard is now a Steinway. The recorded samples were obviously done by professionals because the sound is pristine and panned the way you would expect. My attempts at acoustic piano recording were laughable.
Multiple channels on the device are also a plus. On my set up I have already figured out my mike levels and keyboard levels for real recording. To do a session I just turn up the levels to my presets and away I go.
    Have fun!

  • Connecting case mic plugs to the Audigy 2

Ok, I have an Audigy 2 ZS. I want to get one of those little 3.5 bays for the front of my rig. the kind with the USB plugs and the firewire and a mic/headphones plug in 'em. I know I can hook the firewire and USB up, but I hate to have the 2 mini plugs there if theyre not functional so my question is: is there any way to hook them into my audigy? Wiring it out the back is unacceptable.. RIGGED BAD! But if you can do clever things with all those jumpers/pins/whatevers sticking out of the audigy to enable functionality to a mic/headphone plug in the front of the case thatd be great. any help is much appreciated.Message Edited by padrescout on 0-8-2004 06:53 PM

hey dude. I emailed cust. servicve about it and they say theoretically you can, and refered me to the pinouts for a regular audigy. I say use those a guideand it can probly be done.

  • Connecting My Mic To My Camera

Sorry this isn't really about Logic but i was wondering if anyone knew how i could use my Mic as my camera's mic
I usually record into Logic with my mic and mixer, I tried plugging in the wire from my mixer that i usually plug into my line in port into the a/v port on the camera. But that didnt work.
It's a simple home Cannon camcorder and the only ports are a tiny digital usb like port, and the a/v port (same size as a headphone jack)
    Thanks

    Hi,
It looks like your camera does not have a "line" input, nor a "mic" input. what does the camera's manual say?
