Connecting printer to computer

Dell vostro 420 computer is not communicating with my HP Deskjet 3845

Hi @Kerbear17
What operating system do you have on the Dell? Did the HP Deskjet 3845 work previously on this computer? If it has worked previously on this computer, had anything changed on the computer recently, such as Windows updates, or an operating system update?
I would like to help you with this, and look forward to doing so after I hear back from you. Thanks.

  • Fail to install driver HP1050 deskjet for windows 8 when connecting printer with computer

I have this great HP desket 1050 printer for less than a year. My computer broke down so I bought a new one, but now with windows 8.1. So my printer was not working anymore, I fail to install my new printer. I can install the driver for HP1050 deskjet, but then there is a moment that you have to connect the PC and printer with an USB cable. This is the moment that the installation fails, nothing happens when I plug my printer into my PC. So I never finish the installation process complelty. The same thing happens when I choose add printer later and then add my printer. My printer is on and the cable is well plugged in. Anybody any suggestions as I would like to use this printer again. Thanks in advance

  • I recently replaced my dead airport router with a netgear91-5g router and synced it successfully to my Lexmark Pro 915 printer and my computer and yet when I try to print wirelessly I get the message: "printer not connected; printer offline".

I recently replaced my dead airport router with a Netgear91-5g router and synced it successfully to my Lexmark Pro 915 printer and my computer; yet when I try to print wirelessly I get the message: "printer not connected; printer offline". Lexmark support verified that my printer was connected to the new router and the problem was with the computer's printer configuration and they could reconfigure it online if I paid for their "Premium Support" services ($119 for one year, 3 fixes). I declined, feeling sure that this is something I could do if I knew how. Could it be an incompatability issue with OS 10.8.3?

You saved me $$$ that I can ill afford on my fixed income. I was very unhappy with the "support" from Lexmark... what a rip off!  Thank you dwb!

  • My wireless all in one says it is not connected to my computer and yet it prints just fine. can't sc

I cannot scan, the error message says I am not connected to a computer and yet I am able to print from my  computer.
Why would it then be saying that I am not connected to my computer??

    What operating system? What router?

  • Can't establish wireless connection between the printer and computer.

I recently upgraded my wireless to an Apple AirPort Time Capsule. I'm able to set up the printer via USB cable. And I'm able to set up the printer on the network via the Airport WPA utility. However I cannot establish a wireless connection between the computer and the printer. When I go to the printers window  in my system prefereces, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. Only the USB version printer is listed and of course when I disconnect the USB cable it shows as offline.I've tried all the fixes on HP's support pages. I've tried reinstalling the printer on both the router and the computer numerous times. The only thing I haven't done is reinstall the printer using the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download). And when I reset the printer to factory settings, then connect it to the computer via the USB, there is no installation software that pops up. Cant even find the **bleep** thing in "Finder". (I'm assuming that it should show up as some sort of external device.) I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network. (sometimes my computer will grab a connection with the next nearest network.) I've checked all the settings for the printer via the HTML configuration utility. I've even updated my Macbook software and restarted it multiple times. Note: the printer actually worked for a bit when I first switched routers, but the printer's wireless function went offline several times and then quit  altogether. Really frustrated that I bought another HP product thinking this time things would be different. HP is no help unless you want to pay $$ for a phone call. I'm about ready to take this thing out in the desert to use for target practice and never buy another HP product ever again.

Hi , I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with your LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer not showing on your Macintosh computer. I may have found some resources for you.
I have a few questions for you, so I can offer some additional assistance:Before you upgraded to the Apple AirPort Time Capsule, was the printer working wirelessly without any issues?
When you say; 'I reset the printer to factory settings', how where you trying to do this?
I found some instructions from this post: How do I reset my Laserjet p1102w to its defaults, copied here for you:
To restore the printer back to factory settings, turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and the cancel button (x button) then turn the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise. (When they say turn the printer off, I think they mean unplug the power cable.)
"I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network."  Do you know if you are able to access the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS)?To access the EWS - Make sure that the Ready light () is on and that the printer is idle and silent.Press and hold the Cancel button (), and release it when the Ready light () begins blinking. The configuration page prints.Type the IP address or host name of the product in the address field of a supported Web browser, and then press Enter on your keyboardLet me know if this page loads
To answer a few more items you have listed:... When I go to the printers window in my system preferences, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. This could be an issue with your print system, I recommend resetting the printing system and then Repair Disk Permissions - after that try to add the printer again.
... the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download)HP provides their software/drivers to Apple to be released through your Apple software updates. You can review this document on how to Install a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update. Which leads into your next point...
... there is no installation software that pops upWhen you connect the USB cable your mac may still recognize the printer software as being already installed - check for apple updatesOn the Mac, click the Apple menu (), and then click Software Update, or click About this Mac, and then click Software Update. A list of available updates displays.
... Not seeing the printer in "Finder" From what I understand most printers will not show in Finder unless you install a memory card into a supported port on certain printer models, only then will it read it like an external device. A few more things you can check are that the new settings in the Apple AirPort Time Capsule are setup to allow the printer to communicate. There are several of these settings listed in this document; Tips and Workarounds for Common Wireless Network Printer Issues.  HP regularly releases firmware updates that may also correct the problem you are experiencing. You can click on this link to Getting Printer Updates for HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer.  I did find 2 more documents that may offer some additional information as well;HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer - Connecting the Printer After Changing Your Wireless NetworkAn 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Displays for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer  Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or the details of what happened.  I look forward to hearing from you, hopefully with good news!   Thanks,

  • How can i get my printer to connect with my computer to print?

I have a HP photosmart prem-web C309n-s printer. I have two different computers. One is a 4 year old HP laptop, and I just recently purchased an HP touchsmart 320 PC. I installed the printer when I first got this computer, and the printing worked fine from any computer that was in the house. Now, it seems that my printer is not connected with my computer. With my dad's laptop in the house, he had before installed the printer, and when I look up the network on my printer, the only computer that it shows connection with is his. I need to print things for class, and I'm not sure how to make my desktop "visible" to my printer. Please help!!!!

  • I have an iPad 3 if I use the USB cable can I print to any printer no connected to a computer

I have an iPad 3 if I use the USB cable to any printed not connected to a computer will I be able to print

No. iPads print only wirelessly. You need an Airprint capable printer,
or a network printer reachable wirelessly or a printer that can make
its own ad hoc wireless network. There is no USB connection on an
    iPad.
What type (manufacturer & model) are you trying to print to?

I have an epson T50 shared network, which is connected to a computer that runs on Windows 7 64-bit. The 10 days Apple has updated the printer drive and since then has been trying to print the following message: / Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS/ rastertoescpII failed.
    What should I do?

The first thing you should do is re-write your post to make it a bit more understandable. I got you have an Epson printer connected to your PC, however after that  your post doesn't make any sense. Are you attempting to print from your iMac, if so then you need to download and install Bonjour for Windows on your Windows machine. Then set Windows so it has printer sharing turned on and then on the iMac simply follow Apple's instructions for adding a printer.

  • Connecting ipod to computer

I just received a replacement ipod thanks to apple's warrenty. The only problem is when i connect the ipod to my computer (windows), it is not recognized, and the ipod seems to rise in temperature. Any suggestions on what to do?

Unfortunately, there is no one ‘Silver Bullet’ answer for this issue. Many things can contribute to the problem. Here are various solutions that you can try to correct your problem. One should work.
Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.
If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter: Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management. Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”. Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused. Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” (or something similar).
If that doesn't work, Put Your iPod into Disk Mode then plug it in and you should be able to Restore the iPod
Also try these hints (and the other suggestions above) from any other USB port you may have on the PC. Sometimes switching USB ports can make all the difference.
    Also See:
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod
iPod does not appear in iTunes or on the desktop
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes</A

  • Installing driver without having connected printer

    Hi.
I have to install the hp laserjet p1102 driver to my Server 2012R2 without physically connected printer for remote desktop sessions. I had downloaded LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution, but I can't install it without printer. In the unpacked folders of the LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-file I can't see the inf-files to install it manually. I can't install the updated driver too, cause I have to have the old driver.
    Sorry. Already found it.

    DP
The computer (and driver) have to handshake with the printer, QED it has to be either online or physically connected and if it is physically connected it wont work on the network so yes it does.

  • How to connect printer wireless i dont have wirelee router? my printer is deskjet 4625

i m unable to connect my printer wireless and generate code for registering at eprint.how to connect printer wireless i dont have wirelee router? my printer is deskjet 4625. please suggest ? i have installed printer on my computer and laptop. computer is having w-7 os and laptop is having w-vista.

    That is not correct sabretooth04,
The Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625 only support USB or Wi-Fi, it does not provide any Ethernet connectivity and therefore a Wireless router is essential for the web services to work.
The specifications can be found in here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03149922&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
ichleiben57 - As your printer only support wireless connection you will either need a wireless router, bridging your wired ADSL router with a wireless access point or replacing the printer to a different model which support wired ethernet connection.

  • Connect to server/computer issues

When I am using my Macbook Pro at work, it will attempt to connect to my iMac at home (which is unavailable). It only tries to connect to this computer when I am in Desktop and Screen Saver preferences.
When I am at home (and the iMac is available) it will load a message asking me to connect to the iMac.
I am unable to workout why or what it is looking for.
Does anyone know how I can tell my Macbook to forget about looking for the computer in all environments?
BTW: It has done this constantly under 'Snow Leopard' and 'Lion'

I am trying to run a server for Team Speak application. I have a WRT54GS v.5 router. I have been to MANY sites tryin to resolve the issue, printed a hundered pages and tried the fixes. I am relatively computer literate except when it comes to networking issues. I can connect to my server and another computer on my LAN can connect, but no one outside the LAN can. It is currently runing in DHCP mode(router). I guess I have to have a static IP and do port forwarding for port :8767. I have 3 IP addresses and don't know which to use. I have my LAN IP, WAN IP and the router has it's own IP,subnet mask and default gateway as seen by external users of the internet on the status tab/internet/configuration type/Ip address. I would GREATLY appreciate ANY help I could get.
here are a few things to keep in mind.
1.) your wan ip is what the world would point to.
2.) your lan ip is your ip address
3.) your gateway is what your computer sees your router as, and is what it uses every time you google "team speak".
4.) the security tab has a feature "Block Anonymous Internet Requests"
this is enabled by default, "a good thing" which is part of why you
people in the world cannot "see" your server.
5.)the "Applications & Gaming" and tab is a relevant part of why you cannot get anyone to connect your teamspeak from the world. once you have configured the portwarding as required in the below link, you should be able to get this to start working.
    http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=faq&id=4&item=16#q16
6.) the DDNS tab provides the means for you to have a "quasi-static" address for people to connect to your server.
Please review item 5 and try again. post your results if you are having problems.Message Edited by ispugnacious on 07-03-2006 04:29 PM
