Connection using Multi-Tier Openlink ODBC

We are trying to connect to an Avaya database (their CMS system) and it uses a multi-tier ODBC driver by Openlink. We are unable to use any groupby functions in Hyperion's SQL interface to retrieve data from the database. It doesn't have stored procedures or views so we can't create those and pull data into Hyperion from there. How can we get connectivity using this ODBC driver and use groupby SQL statements? Any help is much appreciated.

Feel free to consider this issues closed.
We figured it out.
We used the combination of a filter event trapping off a user action, coupled with PL/SQL code to extract values from the filtered event and inserted them into the appropriate table{s}.

  • Using Basic or Multi-tier configuration for WLS Clusters...

    Ok,
The scenario is: I'm using WLS6.1 (hopefully, version doesn't matter here)
with three instances clustered. Each instance provides all Services:
Servlets / JSPs/ EJBs / Database communication... I'm using the Basic
configuration described on the BEA documentation....
Now, I want to move forward to a Multi-tier configuration, where the first
layer will serve Servlets and JSPs and the second layer will serve EJBs.
The problem: On the first scenario, I was looking EJBs with the Default
InitialContext() constructor without the environment, since everybody was on
              the same JVM...
What do I have to do, so my Servlets start looking for EJBs on the second
cluster now? Do I have to re-write every single lookup? Can I use a
jndi.properties file on the first layer - on the presentation tier?
              Thanks in Advance,
              Marcelo.

              Thanks Patrick!
But my actual problem starts here. The Servlets aren't mine. We have to support
applications which run atop our product(which is a bunch of beans+RMI Objects
running on the top of WLS) in a backward compatible way with a standalone.
Will try and make a post if I can find a 'configurable' way out.

    Hi,
I'm trying to get the multi-tier debugging working in the above environment and am hitting the 'ORA-30683: failure establishing connection to debugger' exception.
I can debug by right click on the server explorer and doing step-into.
I have Tools - Oracle Application Debugging checked.
In Tools -> Options ->Oracle Developer Tools i have the connection checked and the port range 49152 - 65535. No firewall is running.
    Any ideas what's causing this?

    1. Does your debugger machine use IVP6 address? How about the database?
    2. Does the debugger machine have multiple IP addresses to use?

  • Multi-tier ssl

Here is quick question for you weblogic Guru's :P
I have a multi tier setup with 3 web servers and 3 app servers
My web servers are apache running the weblogic proxy plugin.
Now.. As far as i can tell my web servers (apache) are handling all the SSL information,
and in my apache cluster configuration my 443 ports point to my 4701 (non SSL
weblogic port). I currently have SSL turned on in WeblogicCommerceServer3.1 and
i am wondering. Do i really need it turned on? as far as i can tell, Weblogic
starts up a SSL ThreadPool at startup and i dont think it is being used..
Please Give me whatever feedback you guys may have?
i just want to understand what exaclty is going on and how it interferes with
    my servers/application..
    thanks everyone
    Quintin...

    Hey Quintin
    my two pennies:
If you're totally sure that your Apache server is handling all SSL connection and WebLogic
is just doing normal, cleartext HTTP on the backend, then you are right.
There is no reason for you to have https enabled on WebLogic with your configuration. If
you're concerned about the SSLThread pool, I recommend disabling https. It should not
interfere with anything in your server or application, to my knowledge.
Hit the admin console, click "servers->myserver" and then on the right look for the SSL tag
and disable it. Restart your server. The SSL port (4701) should now be free (not used) and
the SSLThreadPool should not exist within the VM, as far as I know.
If you ever decide to make the traffic between Apache and WebLogic SSL, then just make sure
you're using the plug-in from at least WLS 6.0sp2-- prior to that you can't do SSL between
    Apache and WebLogic.
    Then check out http://edocs.beasys.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/plugin_params.html#1143055 for
    the details.
    Hope this helps.

  • In the ReportDocument.Load method it tries to connect using the using the connection information embedded in the Report File

    Post Author: bhaveshbusa
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
In the ReportDocument.Load method it tries to connect using the using the connection information embedded in the Report File. When the application calls ReportDocument.Load(reportFileName). This
tries to connect to the database using the connection information embedded in
the "reportFileName". This was only realised on checking the ODBC Trace
Log. The connection itself is not a problem. The problem is that the embedded
connection information is related to OLD production system. And failed
    connections had raised some concerns.
    Note: I am using
SetDataSource to populate the data for the report. So I don't need the
    connection.
    Is there any way I
    can disable this auto-connect?

I need a help in answering one of the issue encountered last week.
I have created a database link and tried to access the information from a table using the program written in another language. The password provided was incorrect for that user while creating database link. So we expected that, while retrieving the data, Database connection has to be errored out as password provided is incorrrect.
But unfortunately, user account was locked out. When i checked with DBAs they mentioned that it tries to connect 16 ports with in a min of time.we were shocked as it STOPS another scheduled jobs with that user. and affects production badly.
As per the program, it has to connect only one time and yesterday we tried to execute the program in DBAs observation and it errored out as expected. Didn't tried for multiple ports.
Now the question is, WHY the database connection established 16 times last week and caused user account locked. DBAs are unable to answer it. Any EXPERTs opinion on this would greatly appreciated.
I have verified managing ports in oracle documentation, it was mentioned that if one port is busy it will try to connect to another port in the range of ports mentioned during the installtion. DBAs verified ports related file and it was blank. and they are not agreeing with this reason. Please HELP me in finding the correct REASON for this.
is it a NETWORK issue or issue with DATABASE SERVER only?

  • Trying to access Lion server remote using multi-user access, but from a legacy Leopard system

Just purchased a mini server running Lion, and got screen sharing working fine from my legacy system (32-bit so Leopard only). However, I would like to run in multi-user mode, so someone can use the Lion system and another person can access their own account, from the older Leopard system, at the same time. Using multi-user rather than screen sharing. But Leopard does not have the option on the Finder/Share Screen command, the pop-up window to select screen sharing or new virtual session. So, is there a way still to run a new virtual session from a remote client running Leopard?  Since the multi-user capability resides on the Lion server, it should be possible, but how, without the pop-up menu?

SQL Server objects are commonly case sensitive, so please surround the column and table names by double quotes:
    SELECT "Type_PK_ID" FROM "dbo"."boundaries"@sqlserver
SIDE NOTE: Oracle is by default not case sensitive and all object names are stored in upper case. To get case sensitive objects they need to be surrounded by double quotes. In HSODBC case sensitive table names were commonly found even when not surrounded by double quotes as the gateway used internal SQL Server methods to find the correct table nameing - this method does not work for column names. So to be able to query a case sensitive column it needs to be surrounded by double quotes and the table name must be written as stored in the source database.

You can help, how better the performance for update 500,000 record by record in MS SQL Server. I need advantages of use Oracle Transparent Gateway for Microsoft SQL Server.
your's can suggest my another solution ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
There are no real parameters to tune the gateways. You should turn on gateway debug tracing and check the SQL that is being sent to SQL*Server to make sure is update statements and nothing else.
If this is the case then the time taken will be down to various factors, such as network delays, processing on SQL*Server and so on.
How long does it take to update the same number of records directly on SQL*Server without the Oracle or the gateway involved or if you use another non-Oracle client to do the same updates across a network, if a network is involved ?
It may be possible to improve performance by changing the HS_RPC_FETCH_REBLOCKING parameter, so have a look at this note in My Oracle Support -
Tuning Generic Connectivity And Gateways (Doc ID 230543.1)

  • Single-Tier in Dev / Multi-Tier in Prod - BPC5.1 - are there any issues?

Background: We are a new install of SAP BPC 5.1 and initially planned to have both Dev and Prod as a single tier install.  In the Blueprint design review, the recommendation was made and accepted to have production as a Multi-Tier landscape.  Due to tight timelines, the customer will go-live on the Production Multi-tier landscape and Dev in a Single Tier configuration. As soon as possible, we will move Dev to a Multi-Tier install as well to synchronise Dev to Prod.
Question: Other than being uncommon, is there any know issues with having this current dissimilar landscape?
Edited by: Penelope Thomson on Dec 17, 2007 12:15 PM

There's nothing uncommon about having a development environment that isn't an exact macth to production.  Many clients that have large mutli-server configurations don't invest that much money and resources in thier development environment.  The downside is that when you do things such as stress testing, user acceptance testing and other configurations in development, you really have to do them again in production if you want a fully tested environement.
Also, if you have different software components (e.g. 64bit OS in production and 32bit in development) you are dealing with different service packs and other components that can have different issues.  I've also run into differences in authentication issues between a simple and more complex environment depending on how the components are arranged.
These should all be issues the technical consultant that is doing the server configurations can discuss with you.  The bottom line is you'll want to make sure you have the production environment setup with enough time to do a through testing before go-live.  As far as moving the application from development to production, going from a single server to mutli-server shouldn't be an issues as long as you're using server mananger to do the backup and restore.

  • ISE - EAP-TLS authentication with multi-tier PKI

    Hi Cisco Support Community,
and again I'm struggling with my ISE understanding. It's kind of frustrating - daily more and more questions arise :)
Here's the thing and I hope some of the ISE experts here know the answer:
I want to authenticate my wired and wireless clients using 802.1X. I'm using a multi-tier PKI (see picture below)
The ISE uses a certificate from the "Signing CA1" (Chain: Root CA - Signing CA1).
The clients uses a certificate from the "Signing CA2" (Chain: Root CA - Intermediate CA1 - Signing CA2).
Do I have to add the complete client certificate chain (Signing CA2, Intermediate CA1, Root CA) to the ISE trusted certificates in order to authenticate the client? Or is it enough for example just to add the root CA or the intermediate CA? I couldn't find any hints in the admin guide (1.3)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Johannes-
You will need to add the root and all/any intermediate certificates in the trusted certificate store of ISE.

  • Splitter operator doesnt use multi table inserts in OWB...very very urgent

    Hi,
I am using OWB 9i to carry out tranformations. I want to copy the same seuence numbers to the two target tables.
    Scenario:
I have a source table source_table, which is connected to a splitter and the splitter is used to dump the records in two target tables namely target1_table and target2_table. I have a sequence which is also an input to the splitter, so that I can have the same sequence number in the the two output groups of he splitter. I then map the sequence number from the two output groups to the two target tables expecting to have the same sequence number in the target tables. But when I see the generated code it creates two procedures and effectively inserts sequencing numbers in the target tables which are not consistent. Please help me so that I have the same sequencing numbers in the target tables which are consistent.
Well the above example works in row based operating mode but not in set based mode. Please give me a valid explanation.
OWB pdf says that splitter uses multi table inserts for multiple targets. After seeing the generated code for set based operations I dont agree to this.
    Its very urgent.
    thanks a lot in advance.

    ELEC A.P
Now I want to populate the two destination tables T2 and T3 with the records in T1.
For this I am using splitter operator in OWB which is suppose to generate multi table inserts, but unfortunately its not doing so when I generate the SQL. There si no "insert all" command in the sql it generates.
What I want is, when I populate T2 and T3 I use a sequence generator and I want the same sequences for T2 and T3 eg.
    SQl>select * from T2;
    NEXT_VAL DEPTNAME LOCATIO?N
    1 COMP PUNE
    2 MECH BOMBAY
    3 ELEC A.P
    SQl>select * from T3;
    NEXT_VAL DEPTNAME LOCATIO?N
    1 COMP PUNE
    2 MECH BOMBAY
    3 ELEC A.P
I am able to achieve this when I set the operating mode to ROW BASED. I am not geting the same result when I set the operating mode to SET BASED.
    Help me....
