Constraining SWF File to Document Size

I am very confused and if someone could assist me with some
information I would really appreciate it. One of the settings
available in Flash is the document size. One would assume that if
you set it to be a certain size that anything not on the artboard
would NOT show up when you publish, however, if you enlarge the
window when you preview it you see that everything, including what
is off the artboard is showing up. Is there a way to show ONLY what
is on the artboard and constrain it to that?
Many thanks in advance,
Andy

  • Document size changes when creating pdf from jpeg

    When I create a pdf from a jpeg file, the document size increases considerably. The native jpeg was saved in the "save to web" feature in Photoshop. I cannot find settings in ImageReady or Acrobat to make my document the correct size. Any suggestions?

    Why not save the PDF from Photoshop directly? This gives full control
    over compression settings. It will not, however, downsample so you
    should do that first.

  • Trouble placing swf file in dreamweaver

    Fairly new to Dreamweaver and I've had an issue I can't figure out.
    my problem is I am placing a swf file that is the same size as the frame (right term?) I'm placing it in, on a page that was built from a template I created (sliced from a Photoshop file). When I preview it, the frames around get moved and show space betwen them.
    Here's the page I'm working on (also added a screen shot showing grey areas of space)
    http://jagercreative.net/site1_10/JC_advertising.html
    If you go to other pages within this site, you can see there is not the same issue.
    It seems to work if I reduce the size of the files's dimensions (width and height) down a bit but I can't figure out why, if the swf file is the exact size as the space it is going into is, why I keep getting these spaces appearing. As far as a I know, there is no padding, V and H space or borders in the file that would cause this.
    If I add a static image that is the same size, I don't have this problem.
    I'm on a Mac, DW CS4 and Flash CS4
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    I think you can fix it without the css solution.
    If you make EVERY table cel the right size (since its a static sized website shudnt be a problem) and add
    border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"
    to it you should be safe.
    My experience is that when you did not devine the excact size to every table cel youll end up with problems like this.
    Try defining your  <td height="your-size" width="your-size" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"></td>
    Make your flash (swf) file the same size as the table cel and put it in:
    embed src="movie.swf" width="your-size" height="your-size"
    value="noborder"
    I am pretty sure that if ALL table cels have a fixed size your problem will be solved.
    Also try removing spaces and other characters that could mess up the size of the cels.
    Could be only one little thing that messes up a lot.
    I hope it helps.
    Warm greetings

  • Copy a .swf file from server side to client using signed applet

    Hello All,
    I already have my applet signed and its working pretty well. However I want to know how can I import a .swf file into clients machine. The .swf file initially is on server side, my applet checks whether this .swf file exists already on client machine. If not it copies it to his machine.
    I know how to chk if the file already exits on client machine but I am not sure how to copy this .swf file to his machine if its missing.
    May be I need to set some input buffers from server side and then copy them to his machine.
    Can some one throw some light on this issue ??

    Hello to all Java Code Masters out thr,
    I am trying to copy a .swf file from server side to client side, however I am unsuccessful in writing the correct data. By correct data I mean that , the data does gets saved on the client side in the .swf file, and the size of the .swf file on client side is as expected, but some how I don't know why the data is not the same as expected.
    I tried opening up both the swf file, one which is on server side and the other which is on client side. And both looked different in the notepad.
    When I opens up the client side .swf file on browser it shows nothing while the .swf file on server side worked fine.
    Here is a snap shot of the two .swf files when opened in notepad:

        File fdirectory = new File(ImoracleDirectory);

    Interesting thing is that I am doing System.out.println(swfcontent); just before writing the data to clientside.swf using output.write(swfcontent);. And System.out.println does print the write data on the java console. However I dont know out of what reason the data doesnt get written correctly on the client's computer.
    Kindly help me in this plzzzzzzzzzz.

  • My SWF is not the same size as my Flash document size

    My SWF is not the same size as my Flash document size. How can I get it to be the same.
    Thanks

    I spent a little time trying to figure out if there's some setting anywhere that might explain this, but couldn't find anything.  That doesn't mean there isn't any--I just don't know of any.
    I'm wondering if you could take a screen shot that shows the stage size versus the swf size when it plays?  It will help to make sure the problem is what I think you have it explained it to be.
    Does this happen in all files you create or is it occuring just in one particular file?  What version of Flash are you using?  If you can make your file available maybe someone can see if the problem remains when they open it--possibly even track down some cause.  I am unable to open CS4 files (don't have it), but if it's an earlier version I can take a look.
    If you are using CS4, have you updated it to the latest release (10.0.2, I believe)?  There were numerous bugs when CS4 was released, though I don't know if this would be one of them.

  • File size of .swf files exported from Indesign CS5

    I have made a basic file (728 x 90 px) in Indesign, which is the size of banner ads we produce. I have not put on any effect or animation yet. When I export it as a swf file, the file size is 139kb. This is way too large for any banner advertising on websites where the highest is normally 100px and the smallest is 30kb.
    I have tried exporting at a lower resolution, but it has no effect on the file size, rendering this useless as a flash export option for me.
    Is there something I'm missing or is Indesign just not the right tool for flash banner ads.
    Thanks

    Mr Met
    {swf file that's 13MB. What are your images, 200MB each?}
    As I said, I resampled the images to be 500px wide so each PShop image is about 1.4mb (single layer). There are 12 images used.
    Here it is if you care to see i t- 11mb so it will take time to load

    No doubt you are a 100% right here.
    But I think it is a bit disingenious to blame the InDesign user for the feature. It would be like Abobe putting Drop Shadows and transparences into ID and then saying you should use PhotoShop to for that feature!

  • Embedding SWF file into an Indesign document and later export as PDF

    Hi to everybody,
    I am searching now since 3 days for good solution of my problem. First I wanna tell you that the problem is not just to convert a swf-file into a pdf.  I did this many times with all animations, page flip and stuff.My situation is the following:
    I have varios catalogues with  more or less 12 pages each in an indesign format. Now I created an animated scroll down menu, which appears on an "index-page". On the menu I created buttons. One button for each catalogue. So the idea of the whole thing is to open a document and an index page appears where you have the animated menu and you choose the catalogue you wanna see. Until here it is quite easy. I created a swf file of each catalogue with my animations (as the special page turnover e.g.). So that I just need von Object in with I can load the different swf-files of these catalogues. I already did the process. I linked the buttons to the different swf files and so. So the problem is now when it comes to convert the whole thing into a PDF. Of course I convert it first to swf and then to PDF. After converting it to swf it works 100% fine, but in PDF not, suddenly the swf-files of the catalogues disappear.
    So the summary is, that I don't know how to embed swf files into an indesign document, creat buttons and interactions next to swf file, then save it to another swf, and then to a pdf without losing the first swf files within the pdf.
    Hope I made my self clear would be too nice if someone could help me or if someone may have a better idea of realizing the whole project.

    Jeffrey,
    Thank you for the answer. As you have written:
    I will also add that the ID's play mode contol [plays once] [repeat play] does not always control the file once in Acrobat.
    I presume you mean version of ID older than CS4 or version of Acrobat Reader older than 9.1
    It that is the case I will strongly recommend my visitors to upgrade to this version.
    I hope that would work.
    Thanks again.

  • Maximum size of an swf file of an Application

    Hi ,
    Ours is a Intra Net Application would be launched as a Product  ,and can be  used with in an Organisation .
    The Project would be developed using FLEX 3 as Front End , blazeds in Tomcat , JDBC with Oracle for backend .
    Please tell me what should be considerded as the maximum size  of the swf file so that everything would be fine
    Please share your views .
    Thnaks in advance .

    With Flex you don't need to bother about sizing. If you keep your layout liquid (keeping your application and it's components use size in %) it will serve the purpose. All you need to make sure is that the size of your components is not going below minimum size requirement. To ensure this, you can use minSize property as shown below.
    <mx:HDividedBox minWidth="500" width="100%" height="100%">
    </mx:HDividedBox>
    Now the width of this component will not go below 500 pixels. And when the application is viewed in higher resolution, it will use the extra space available as the width is given as 100%.

  • How to get the correct size of the loaded swf file?

    final public class main extends Sprite
      public function main()
       loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, _onLoadCompleted);
      private function _onLoadCompleted(event: Event): void
       var tw: int = stage.width;
       var th: int = stage.height;
       var tsw: int = stage.stageWidth;
       var tsh: int = stage.stageHeight;
    Above is my simple as3 project in flex builder 3.
    My screen resolution is 1920*1080, when debugging, the swf is stretched to the full client area of the IE, but the stage.stageWidth is 500 and the stage.stageHeight is 375, both the stage.widht and stage.height are 0, who can tell me why and how to get the right size of the swf file, named the client area size of the IE in this situation?
    Thanks very much!

    The HTML wrapper might resize the SWF later, so wait a frame and check stageWidth/stageHeight again.

  • Newbie question - SWF file download size

    If I have say 20 different screens to display in a flex application, after I compile the size of the swf file would be quite big (5+Mbs apprx) for the browser to download.  Hence, the users will have a waiting state unless the SWF file is completely downloaded to the browser cache.  And if there are any update to the file the complete file will be again downloaded to the client.
    I want to reduce this download time and ensure that users do not get tired of waiting for download to happen.  Preferably I would like to load the components/screens as and when required (like it is done in java web start).  Is something like this possible in flex?  If yes how?
    One of the approaches is to have multiple SWF files say for every module.  Even in such cases the size of SWF file will be large enough for the user to wait.  It will also display a blank screen on the browser when switching from one SWF file to another (considering it will be done through HTML).
    This is a practical problem and must be faced by a number of applications.  That makes me believe Flash must have something that provides dynamic loading of components as and when clicked.

  • Flash Media Playback configurator swf file size

    Hello,
    I just start using the Flash Media Playback configurator : http://www.osmf.org/configurator/fmp/ and I am very surprised that the size of the swf file is less than 2KB. The swf file used is http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback.swf
    How did you compile it to make it so small ? It is based on OSMF ?
    Usually the swf file's size of a flash video player based on OSMF seems to be greater. For example the swf file used on page http://www.osmf.org/ (http://www.osmf.org/strobe1_0/StrobeMediaPlayback.swf) is about 193KB or on page http://osmf.org/dev/1.6gm/setup.html (http://osmf.org/dev/1.6gm/StrobeMediaPlayback.swf) is about 422KB.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thomas

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick reply Gelu. I emptied the cache of my web browser and had a look at all http requests (with Charles proxy and Firebug) sent when loading the page http://www.osmf.org/configurator/fmp/. The only .swf loaded I can see is http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback.swf.
    Is there another cache involved ?
    Thanks,

  • How to reduce the swf file size of an imported After Effects file

    Hi!
    I am trying to make a web banner for an internet marketing company, so it has very specific requirements. We had it made in After Effects, and I was able to export it as a FLV file and import to Flash just fine along with the SWF. Now, I need to make the SWF file significantly smaller.
    Right now it is 2.5 MB and we can only submit a 40K size SWF. Is it even possible to reduce the size so much and still keep the animation's intregrity?
    I am more familiar with Flash than After Effects, but can play around with settings, etc if someone can tell me what to try.
    Thank you for your help!

    the easiest way to load and play your flv is to use an flvplayback component.  you just drag it from the component panel to the stage and, in the properties panel, assign its properties (eg, skin and source).
    but that will probably put you just over your 40kb limit and will require the skin.swf to be placed on the server with your banner ad.
    to decrease your swf size to negligible, use actionscript to play your flv.  this is the barebones code needed.  just replace your_video_url.flv:
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    ns:NetStream = new NetStreamnc);
    ns.play("your_video_url.flv");
    var video:Video = new Video();
    video.attachNetStream(ns);
    addChild(video);

    Why after working a raw file and saving as a tiff does it open 500 by 350 inch document size?

    Whoa!  That's low all right.  It's anyone's guess as to when that was set.  It could very well have been that the resolution setting was inadvertently reduced when scrolling with the mouse, or ....

  • Swf file size

    Hey everyone.... I'm new to captivate and the whole
    e-learning. Needless there are a lot of new programs to learn and
    it's VERY frusterating. Captivate is not nearly as intuitive as
    many of the other adobe programs, so I'm struggling BIG TIME!!!
    I created an e-learning module in flash and when it was all
    said and done the swf file was HUGE (77mb with video embedded). I
    am wondering what is the maximum file size is to bring into
    captivate. The other swf files captivate handled just fine
    (somewhere around 20-40 mb), however with this third and final swf
    captivate gets about 80% finished. Then just kind've sits there and
    laughs at me. I wonder could it have anything to do with the fact
    that in my flash file (that i published the swf from) has a
    "stop();" in the actions layer where i have a Movie clip on that
    frame which plays through the end. I did this because I ran out of
    frames (flash only allows 16000 frames and i needed like 16300
    haha).
    Well if anyone has any advice or suggestions that would be
    GREAT!!!
    Oh on a side note.... anyone know why when i sinchronize the
    swf in captivate the audio does not work?

    Hi,
    If I understand correctly you are trying to embed a video
    into flash.
    I think it will be a good idea if you convert the video into
    FLV using Flash video encoder(Now Adobe Media encoder) and use a
    flash video component inside flash or alternatively bring the FLV
    directly into captivate.
    FLV is a streaming format and designed to deliver big videos
    with minimum waiting time.
    Definitely its not advisable to have such huge swf inside
    captivate.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks
