COPA: Distribution of Variance

Hello Everyone,
could any one please quid me in how many ways can we distribute variance of one product to other Products on the basis of quantity consumed.
Ex:  In for A product we are getting the Variance of 100.
Now, i want to allocate 100 RS variance to other products B, C & D one the basis of quantity consumed by them
1.  How quantity will flow to COPA. which condition type or any link should we use for flow of quantity consumed by other material in COPA?
2. In which way can we distribute the variance of one product to other product?
Appreciate your early reply,
Sneha

Hello Sreekanth,
Thanks for early reply.  However, I feel assigning PA transfer structure will not update the details for quantity consumed in value field it will give the information about the quantity of Variance.  Please let me know if my understanding is not correct.
Thanks,
Sneha

  • Transfering Production variances to COPA

    Hi,
I have doubts about transferring Production variances to COPA.
Will this functionality work both for settlement of variances to GL Variances Account and at the same time for settlement of variances to COPA?
From my experience with cost centers and internal orders, I know that if I want to settle an Internal order both to COPA char and to GL Account, I have to make 100% overhead for the  costs gathered on IO. Then I can do the settlement in both directions.
Could you please explain to me the case of Production order variances settlement? I need to have them both on GL accounts and in COPA.
    Best wishes,
    Karol

    Hi
At the time of settlement of production orders, FI entry also passed as well as variances are also settled to COPA
In FI, variances will be debited (assuming production order debit is more than what it is settled to Inventory at Std cost) and Inventory changes account is credited.
In COPA, depending on the variance categories like Price, qty and their assignment to value fields, this amount is transferred.
For eg, if prodn order actual costs is say 12000 and is settled to Inventory is 10000 (at std cost), and the difference is 2000 and if this difference is due to Price (800) and qty (1200).
    Hope this is useful

  • Production Order Variance not posting to COPA

    Hi,
I am hoping someone can help.
We settle our production order variances to COPA. - usually without any problem. The production orders settle to both Material (Mat) and PSG
However this month we had a situation where for 2 order there was no settlement to COPA for the variance.
For these 2 production orders there was no settlement rule to PSG in the master data so this obviously explains why it didnt create a settlement document but my dilemma is understanding why there is no PSG settlement rule.
Through testing it appears that the PSG settlement rule is not created at the time of production order creation at all but seems to be automatically created after the execution of KKS2 and CO88.
The 2 orders that I had  issue with this month were for a new material and I am able to recreate this probelm for any new Production order against this new material. So I suspect that there is something specific to this material that is prveventing the PSG settlement rule from being created.
But this is where I am stuck! I can't find any setting in material master or other area that would seem to impact this.
    Any help appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Tracee

    Hi,
First you can settle these 2 orders individually with using KO88 Transaction code and see if there is any error. Also check the settlement profile of these 2 production orders.there you can check the " variances to costing-based PA" tick is there or not.If tick is not selected there, you can select the check box and run variance calculation (KKS2) and do the settlement for these 2 production orders (KO88).
I hope this wil help you and let me know if you have any queries.
    Regards,
    Puri.

  • COPA Query - Inventory Adj & Derivation of field for Variance

    Hello,
I have some of COPA relared queries, could you please share your experience regarding same how it is treated.
1  Since all COPA related based on Cost of Sales but Variance and invettory is at Cost of Production, so how this is adjusted in COPA reporting.
2  In case of Variance settlment how the sales order, customer is derived, as this was not avaible at the time of settlment of production order.
    Thanks,
    Harry

    Hi Harry
    Cant u/s Q1
Q2 - Sales order is updated in COPA doc for variances only if it is a MTO i.e. Make To Order production.... for MTS, ie. Make to Stock, no customer no would be there in COPA doc and thats standard!!

  • Inventory revaluation variance in COPA

    Hello Gurus,
I would like to know how inventory revaluation variances due to std cost release are accounted in COPA.
At my clients site, the inventory revaluation variance is mapped to a value field.  However, I want to know in the system where exactly this mapping is done.
    For example:
In FI revaluation variance = $100
In COPA the revaluation variance for the corresponding value field = -$100
Is the +/- functionality in COPA included for revaluation variances?
    Any feedback will be helpful.
    Thank you.

    Hi Sanjay,
While releasing a cost estimate (using CK24/CK40N), it is asking for CO object assignment for material revaluation cost element. Ideally, I would like this revaluation value to flow to COPA. I would appreciate if you could let me know where we configure this.
    Thank you,
    Ram

  • Material cost estimation in COPA

    Hello  Everyone
I have question regarding how details of cost Estimate will flow to COPA Report.
Variance of Product cost will flow in COPA through PA Transfer Structure and its flowing on my report.  However, I want to flow COGM (break up of the cost components) on COPA reports.
I have done below steps but itu2019s not flowing.
I have maintained Define Costing Keys for Accessing Material Cost Estimates. ( I have maintained 3 key with different Period Indicators.
    A. Released Standard cost estimate matching goods issue
         B. Current standard cost estimate to entry in Mat
         C. Material cost estimate matching posting date.
Assign costing  key in material ledger and i activate material ledger in actual costing/ material ledger.
I have chosen table lookup with MBEW on source fields in u201COriginu201D tab with        MATNR, BWKEY and BWTAT as field and in  assignment I have take VPRSV.
Maintain another with same field name in Source and selected KALAWI in Target fields.
And assigned the costing keys to key for accessing material cost to step1
I have assigned Cost Component structure to operating concern. ( I have created
Value fields which shows the details for COGM in Cost sheet and maintained the same in it.)
I have maintained external material group and assigned to Material master.
After doing all the above steps Material Ledger TAB is getting populated on the Material Master but when I run the Standard Cost Estimate its not showing details for Cost of sales in COPA.
Please do let me know if I need to do any additional steps with.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Srinivas

    Hi Srinu,
By activating Material Ledger without knowing about it and without knowing it's relevancy to the client's business process....YOU DID A BLUNDER MISTAKE
Materia Ledger along with Actual Costing need to be activated if you want to go for Actual Costing inaddition to Standard Costing.
"""Once activate Material Ledger for any Plant, you willl not be able to de-activate""".
In which client are you doing this? It it in only Golden Master, just immediately deactivate ML. If you have already copied the customization request to Unit Testing Client, you cannot do anything there, but don'g transport it to Quality Server.
When you activate ML, many things right from basics will change...for example Price Indicator in Material Master (S or V). Hell lot of descipline is required during Period-End closing etc.
YOU SHOULD NOT ACTIVATE MATERIAL LEDGER UNLESS THE BUSINESS PROCESS REALLY NEEDS IT -- this only suggestion from my side...
First you deactivate and come back to know about Costing Key...

  • COPA how to analyse sales by actual cost (MTS) ?

    Hi All,
    We use Make-To-Stock production type.
I want to make a drilldown report for sales analysis use actual cost (COGS + production variance), how to link production variance to sales data.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sam

    Hi Sam
As I said, you can tag variance of FG upto some extent to the COGS of FG...
Also note that, w/o ML, variance is disposed off in the month of mfg, where as COGS comes in the month of sale... For eg: You mfr 100 Kgs @ Actual cost of 120, where as your std cost is 100... You sell 50 kgs in Month 1 and 50 kg in month 2
    In Month 1
    COGS = 50 (@ std cost)
    Variance = 20
    In Month 2
    COGS = 50
    Variance = 0
Variance analysis w/o ML is always limited.. At best what you can do is draw your COPA reports on YTD (Year To Date) basis... Assuming that your closing and opening stock is more or less the same, your variance related to FG can now be analysed with COGS and revenues....
Also, if your prod order for FG is tagged to sale order on account of MTO scenario, your COPA doc for variance will have customer info as well
    With ML in place
Variance of SFG can be rolled upto FG... i.e. Say, variance in SFG is 20 USD... Std cost of FG is 125 USD... When you roll up the variance to FG, your FG valuation will become 145 USD....
Also, if part of the FG is sold off, then prorata variance will go to Inventory and the rest can be taken to COGS.. i.e. not only FG, you can also revaluate your COGS with ML...

  • Accounting entry settings for variance analysis

    Hi all,
When we perform variance analysis for a production order, an accounting entry is passed clearing the under or over absorbed portion in production cost centers or in overhead cost centers.
Could any one tell me where to make this configuration that when variance calculation of order is performed ... the financial entry clearing the over/under absorbed portion is posted automatically.
I heard that this entry is posted manually. Please kindly enlighten me if what I heard is correct. If so then what activity does KKS2 perform.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    DSK

    Hi,
With KKS2 TC,you can only calculate variances and with KO88,will settle variances to FI/PCA and COPA.
Production variance, account determination is part of OBYC TC.
    Goto OBYC>GBB>AUA/AUF -->product capitalization account
            OBYC>PRD>PRF -->production variance account
    Thanks,

  • CO Substituion for Production order variance settlement

    Hi,
In make to order production, Our client requirement was not to settle variances to sales order but directly to COPA.
We cannot use variance categories in settlement profile/PA transfer structure as we have transfer pricing setup and direct settlement of variances categories to COPA updates only legal view of COPA and not profit center view of COPA.
Therefore variance GL account was created as cost element in our case.
Now that client wants to settle variances to sales order for certain plants and directly to COPA in certain plants.
Therefore i tried with a CO substitution to clear sales order assignment for the variance GL and then in OKB9 i have set up PSG as default account assignment.
Now when i run the settlement, in debug mode i am able to see that the substitution works and clears the sales order assignment, but when i see the FI document posted, it still has SO assignment. No COPA document is triggered and a controlling document on sales order is posted.
Why does substitution not work for variance settlement in case of MTO process.
    Regards
    Raghu

    Hi Ajay,
I used user exit OKC9 as suggested in SAP note 183250 (last paragraph) and SAP note 105024.
With the user exit, we have cleared the Sales order information and also called OKB9 as per the note 105024.
Now the settlement document is generated without Sales order assignment. A PSG is generated but no cost based COPA document. We also use account based copa. In controlling document, i can see PSG is updated as cost object against the variance GL.
Why does not Cost based COPA automatically generated.
We have FI settlement profile properly maintained. With a manual posting to this GL, i can see cost based copa document.
Accounting document before changes to user exit has following object
Dt 40600 Change in Stock, Prd Order
Ct 44760 Production Variance, Sales Order
Accounting document after changes to user exit has following objects
Dt 40600 Change in Stock, Prd Order
Ct 44760 Production Variance, Material & PSG
In the user exit, i have cleared the material from COBL, still it appears in the posting

I would appreciate, if someone could forward to me at [email protected]

    Hi Suresh,
Its mainly for costing based COPA.
You need to know MM pricing.
MM is involved in COPA mainly from variances on RM purchases or revaluation of stocks or purchases for COGS related items.
As an alternative, You can reach me at [email protected]

  • CO-PA Recnciliation report

    Hi
Please advise is there any COPA Reconciliation report other than KEAT & KEAW? can any one using any such customized report .
    Thankx
    Deepak
Edited by: SDeepakKr on Oct 30, 2010 12:10 AM

    Hi Deepak
There is no ready made report in SAP.. Following points would help you
FI COPA reconciliation depends on the following things (Mainly from costing based copa perspective)
    1. Your GL accounts should be created as cost elements except for variances, cost of sales, etc as the case may be
    2. Check for any open PGIs - i.e. PGI done but billing not done in same month
Also, check if any invoices are pending in VFX3
    3. Check settings in the IMG "Flow of actual values > billing > reset value fields".
For Dr and Cr memos you should reset all value fields except sales revenue. COPA has a tendency to offset the qty and cost value fields along with revenue value fields during Dr and Cr memo. To prevent this, do the settings in this IMG node
    4. Check if there are any under absorbed/ over absorbed amounts in cost centers. After you execute your period end cycles, the balance in cost centers must be zero... Costs posted in them should either be absorbed in prod orders or allocated to COPA
    5. Check in your KE30 report. your report definition may also be an issue. See if you considered all record types, value fields, etc
    6. Do a FBL3N and KE24 reconciliation.
    a. Identify which condition types are mapped to which GL accounts and value fields. The sum total of balances in these GL accounts and value fields must match. If not, you need to identify the reasons on case to case basis
    - This list can be get from KE4I - VKOA (SD-FI Integration) and KEI1 (PA Transfer Structures)
    b. The balance lying in COGS account in FI and the COGS fetched into COPA matching or not
Include MATERIAL as special field in FBL reports... You will get MATERIAL field in COGS GL line item, which will facilitate easy reconciliation of COGS between FI and COPA
    c. check variance settled in FI and settled in COPA match
    d. If there is any WIP posted, this will also be a reason for FI/COPA mis match. Reason being, Settlement of WIP posts to WIP account (a balance sheet account) and to change in WIP account which is a P&L account but not created as cost element. Hence, this value does not flow into CO/COPA
To overcome this issue, after you assign the "change in WIP account " in WIP customizing, create it as a cost element and in OKB9, check PSG as default CO Object for this. Do this ONLY AFTER assigning the GL in customizing
Thats all from myside. These are the issues I faced and learnt when I tried to reconcile FI and COPA... You can try to debug your issue on these lines

  • Optimizing iChat

I had iChat working really well under Leopard 10.5.8 - perfectly, in fact. I hadn't used iChat since upgrading to a new iMac and Snow Leopard 10.6.3 until yesterday and I noticed that the incoming video was really breaking up and pixelated - very jumpy and jerky (the person I was chatting with had no such problem on their end - I was coming in perfectly for them). I have my iChat version 5.0.3 bandwidth limit set to 500 and previously had streaming set to 1.5 in QuickTime settings but there are no QT settings in Mac OS X 10.6.3. Any idea what may be causing this? I've read that some people recommend setting the bandwidth limit to 200 but that's where I get confused. Shouldn't a higher bandwidth work better - or perhaps, automatic?

    Hi Gerard,
Yes, the lack of the Quicktime Setting can cause some people issues.
Since iChat 2 iChat read the Quicktime Streaming speed.
However it could not read the Automatic setting as an open setting. It interpreted it as a figure which was sometimes written to the com.apple.ichat.plist as a zero.
In iChat 4 this was set to be read as 384kbps which meant in theory anyone could host a 4 way Video chat.
In OS 10.3.x and 10.4.x (for iChat 2 and 3) the Streaming Intranet/LAN setting also returned an unreadable figure to iChat and so the 1.5Mbps T1/Intranet/LAN setting became the de facto setting to use.
This made sure iChat could use as much of your Internet speed as it could see.
During this time most cable and DSL connection speeds have seen a leap from about 128kbps Upload speeds to an average of closer to a 1Mbps uploads with downloads being much faster as well.
This in turn meant that although the 1.5Mbps may have exceeded your Upload Speed it also capped everyone to a similar speed if they were faster than that.
iChat 5 can see your whole Internet Connection speed (Upload being the limiting factor)
This means that between two buddies at any one time you may have a much greater speed difference.
ichat is supposed to negotiate between the two Buddies on a common speed and the Buffering in iChat is supposed to take care of the variances in that speed.
The issue with that is that a 5% difference in a 20Mbps service is vastly greater than anything iChat was trying to buffer before, hence blocky Video, Audio Drop outs and strange pixelisation.
The only way to control this now is to limit iChat in the Bandwidth setting as you have read.
It is best done on both ends to aim to be as close as possible.
We are currently recommending using the 500kbps as the first choice and if you still have problems try 200kbps.
AS the other poster has said it pays to check with several Buddies so that you get the "best for all your Buddies" setting that you can (with the occasional tweak for some "Special Cases").
    Summary.
The previous methods of setting up iChat kept the Bandwidth (portion of Internet speed) to a closer average for everyone.
In iChat 5 to enable the Buffering to cope with speed Variances, use the Bandwidth Limit setting, starting with 500kbps.

The same question is asked and answered in the Studio for Linux forum.
    dynamic where-clause
Due to the wide variation in Linux distributions, even variances across "minor" updates, Studio does not always work on unsupported systems like yours. The Release Notes for the version of Studio you have lists the supported systems.
