  • GL Accounts -- Cost element -- activities

The cost elements are linked to activities and GL accounts are mapped to cost elements. Is there any cube give us GL account mappings to cost elements that are linked to activities.
    Good answers -- assured points.
    REgards,
    Maninder.

There are a couple of options. First you could create a multi provider and link the cost element to the GL account. Second you could create an info set and link cost element to GL account.

  • Cost Element Error during Activity Confirmation

    Hi,
We are using assembly processing to create projects. After project is created, a requirement arises and we manually assign few internal activities in CJ20N. When we do like that, a cost element gets picked automatically in the cost element field of External TAB along with Purchase Org & purchase group though it is an internal activity. This doesnt happen in already created activities during automatic creation.
We don't need the system to bring these values for cost element, purchase org. & group. We are not using this cost element anywhere. In network profile cost element field is blank.
So whenever we confirm the activity it throws an error message. CK197, G/L account for company code / costelement does not exist.
    Kindly advice.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi, Rahul,
Have your system is gone for any recent upgrade for EHP4 ?
This error is due to EHP4 please implement following said notes
    1285728, 1277967.
And after that remove the cost element from activities present in external tab which are created before not implementation which are giving error.
    revert after resolving the issue.

  • How do I migrate Cost Element Groups in a batch ?

I want to migrate Cost Element Groups from 4.7 to ECC6. We've been exporting/importing them individually, but is there a faster way to grab multiple groups and move them to the new environment ?
One thing of note is that the Chart of Accounts is changing between 4.7 and ECC6 and named differently.

  • Difference between type of Secondary Cost Element Category?

    Hi,
I checked the system, and during the secondary cost element (CE) creation, I can select some of the CE category as follows:
    21 Internal settlement
    31 Order/project results analysis
    41 Overheads
    42 Assessment
    43 Internal activity allocation
    50 Project-related incoming orders: Sales
    51 Project-related incoming orders: Other
    52 Project-related incoming orders: Costs
    61 Earned value
My question, what kind of report that I can read entries with these kind of CE?
Reason: I want to check what has been posted to these secondary CE.
    Or
Could anyone explain the use of above-mentioned CE category in brief?
    Thanks.

Cost element that is used to allocate costs for internal activities.
    Most often used categories are
    21 Internal settlement
(When ever an order is settled e.g internal order settling to cost center through this type of cost elements)
    31 Order/project results analysis
(WIP in production orders are calculated and posted using this category)
    41 Overheads
(Used in costing sheet to do an overhead allocation)
    42 Assessment
(whenever cost is allocated between cost centers through allocation method - Assessment)
    43 Internal activity allocation
(found in production orders when a routing activity is confimed the charge goes to the production order through this cost element)

  • Secondary cost element........

    Hi,
Is it necessary to create number of activities = to number of secondary cost element.
    or
only one cost element is enough for all activities for posting to cost center.
    Regards,
    Imran

    Dear,
    Secondary Cost Element
When cost element carries cost with in CO, then they are called secondary cost element.
    Example.... - Take Product Costing
On manufacture of the goods the cost of the above product (production order) is arrived at accumulating material cost + operational cost + overheads (%), additive cost if any.
The cost of operation is accumulated in cost centre be it production / production service / service cost centres, while booking FI entries.
Those operational cost has to be allocated to production order based on operational activities carried on and its cost involved in it. Those operation activities in CO are termed as activity types and has to link the same in KP26 with rates and cost centre (ie., sender cost centre and receiver production order).
In order to find the production order cost, the allocation of cost from sender cost centre to production order for the operational activities carried on and its cost associated with it, have to be loaded, hence in CO the cost centre allocate that portion of operational cost to production order, and this cost is carried by a cost element (since there are no FI involvement and entries are flowing within CO by crediting sender cost centre and debiting receiver production order a cost element has to be created.... say "Operational Cost - Activity" the entry will be
Operational Cost - Activity (Production Order) Dr Rs.XX
To Operational Cost - Activity (Cost Centre) Cr Rs.XX
The entries are with in CO. And the cost element created is secondary since it does not has an link with GL Account in FI correspondingly.
In CO the production order and cost centre are co object including but not limited to.
and further notes and configs see below link.

  • Secondary Cost Element Setting Criteria

    Hello all SAP usrs
I am quite green for Controlling.
I have a question need all your help.
Could I know what criteria to be used to set secondary cost element? Also I would like to know the usage of the secondary cost element. Please share some knowledge on it. Thanks!
    Best Regards!
    Gavin

    Hi Gavin
Secondary cost elements are like production costs, material overheads, production overheads, they can be created and administered in only CO.  These are used in internal cost allocation, overhead calculation, settlement transactions., it does not flow to FI...

To Operational Cost - Activity (Cost Centre) Cr Rs.XX
The entries are with in CO. And the cost element created is secondary since it does not has an link with GL Account in FI correspondingly.
In conclusion there is need to creatre a secondary cost element when when you want to disribute the cost with in CO module not in FI

  • Report painter cost elements description is not picking

    HI
Report painter Consolidation system - in which the description of the cost elements are not able to display while runnning the GR55 by giving the Report group PCC2
    Please assist me
    Regards

    Hello,
when you plan with trx. 7KE5, activity will be PCAK.
Report group 8A80 should show the figures correctly. When I plan with 7KE5 and afterwards run the report, the activities PCAK and RKP4 are shown.
Maybe your report is not correct. You should import report group 8A80 from client 000 with trx. GR59. Afterwards you have regenerate the report group. Does the report afterwards show the figures?
Have you checked with trx. 2KEE or KE5Y if the values are shown there?
In case it is not shown in 2KEE and KE5Y - have you saved the planned values?
    Cheers,
    Daniela

  • Cost Center Assessment - cost element type 42

    Hi dear All,
I got issues running KSU5 to allocate planned costs under cost element type 42. we were expecting that all planned costs (primary and secondary(cost element type 42)) could be allocated by credit cost center (actual). only primary costs are being allocated.
    Scenario:
cost center planning (kp06) 1000 currencies in primary cost element in cost center A
running planning assessment - KSUB: cycle uses assessment cost element (type 42): sender cost center A, receiver cost center B (all planned values). assessment cyles posts 1000 currencies from CC A to cost center B
planning in cost center B (primary cost elements through kp06, 500 currencies) total planning 1000 from previous assessment  with CE type 42, and 500 from cc planning in a primari CE.
by the period end closing, tcode KSU5 (allocation actual) is running. new cycle created, based on planned values (origini not actual, but planned amounts).
we were expecting to allocate 1500 currencies from cost center B to cost center C (using 100% and through assessment cost element)).
result: credit actual cost center B = 500 currencies debit actual cost center C = 500 currencies.
1000 currencies pending on cost center B (planned).
do you know why SAP is not allocating the 1000? even if those 1000 were planned in cost center B by assessement, a new allocation cycle should be able to post them or not?
    thank you for your outcome.

Hi dear Ajay, thank you for your answer.
first, I understand the difference between KSUB and KSU5, in the defined scenario, we have both. planned values, become actual with the MEC activities. business definition.
regarding the cycle, I have setup assessment cost element so we can get all planned lines posted as 1.
On sender tab I have only the cost center. no cost element defined.
    receiver its cost center.
furthermore, i've not setup allocation structure, so all cost elements should be allow, there is no restriction on this.
the only difference is: planned costs which their origin is already an assessment are not being assessed again.
I can show you the print screens with cycles setup if it helps
    best regards

  • Cost elements for WIP (TCODE : OKGA)

    Hi All,
I am working with Production Order wip calculation, varaince and settlement.
In the RA key configuraion,(for WIP calculation)In OKGA, tcode we define, the cost elements for a perticular line id, for WIP calculation.
I wanted to know, what is the purpose of these two cost elements.
If I execute line item report, I dont see any value on these cost elements, after wip calc and settlement.
However, I see the work in process on it, in the layout. I want to know, the exact purpose of these cost elements assignment.
Is there any internal controlling document that is getting posted?
    Regards
    SR

    Hi Swastik,
Those cost elements (category 31) are used to calculate and store WIP values at the detailed level of so called line IDs.
Line IDs are groups of cost elements that were posted to production order.
For example you can calculate and store WIP separately for Raw Materials, Semis, Activities and overhead.
You can also settle them to different GL Accounts via mapping in txn.OKG8.
    Hope it helps,
    Szymon

  • Activity Types and Allocation Cost Element

    Hi
What are the impact of having same Allocation Cost Element for different Activity Types. Is there any where we use this condition. SAP allows to have same allocation Cost Elements to different Activity Types, but i did not understand where we can utilizes this feature.
    Thanks
    Sivaram

    Hi Sivaram,
in WIP customizing OKG5 you can assign specific cost center/activitity type combinations to different line-IDs, even though the same cost element is used. By this you can e.g. differentiate the value flow of one cost element in 2: one for capitalization, the other for non-capitalization.
Personally I would not recommend to use this and stick to the rule "one activity type - one cost element" - makes it easier for IT and controlling departments.

  • Grouping cost elements to Activity types?

    Hi friends,
We created Machine hours activity & Labor hour activity in production cost centers for charging to production orders.
We are able to see in cost center report the over/under adsorption for that cost center.
Since there are many primary cost elements making up these activity costs and since many activities are done at cost center, we are not able to find out what is Planned / Actual cost per each activity.
For the above problem, Is the any feature by which we can combine primary cost elements for that cost center under particular activity type?
    Full points will be rewarded.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Cost element missing form screen KP06

    Hello everyone,
I am doing ABC costing and while making a posting on screen Change cost element/ Activity input planning which is KP06 transaction code i cannot find boxes for cost element where i can take multiple cost element and more over when i m entering in item overview screen with cost centre & activity types i can see one of my cost element. But i cannot include cost elements  at KP06 screen.
Can anyone help me out Please.
    Thanks,
    Mohammed samiuddin.

    Mohammed,
Check the layout you are using while entering the data in that transaction. Typically you can see the layout  that you are in at the top of the screen. Usually SAP defaults to layout 1-101 which have the option to enter cost centers, activities and cost elements.  Use the icon left and right arrow (Previous layout and Next Layout) located under the title of the transaction KP06 to change it. If you still can't find any that fulfills you requirement, I am afraid you may have to create a new one in the customizing (CO Manual Planning)
    Hope this helps.

  • Cost Center , Cost element , GL Accounts , Cost sheet , Account Assignment

    Dear Experts,
Please explain what are Cost Center , Cost element , GL Accounts , Cost sheet , cost component and structure, Account Assignment and  how they are interlinked with each other with transactions.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Dear,
Cost element : A cost element classifies the organization's valuated consumption of production factors within a controlling area. A cost element corresponds to a cost-relevant item in the chart of accounts.
Primary cost element: A cost element whose costs originate outside of CO and accrual costs that are used only for controlling purposes
Secondary cost element: A cost element that is used to allocate costs for internal activities. Secondary cost elements do not correspond to any G/L account in Financial Accounting. They are used only in Controlling and consequently cannot be defined in FI as an account.
Cost Center: An organizational unit within a controlling area that represents a defined location of cost incurrence.
GL Accounts : GL Accounts is master data preparation which is assign to chart of accounts.
Costin Sheet : The costing sheet integrates all elements of overhead costing. In costing sheet calculation base, cost element & Overhead rate & credit are define.
    cost component and structure :
Cost component - Makes the costs of a material, an activity type, or a process transparent & Groups the costs of a material according to the requirements for material valuation and profitability analysis
cost component structure : It is use for
Activity prices for an activity type
    Cost of a process
    Planned cost of a product
Material costs passed on to material valuation as the standard price or inventory price
Cost of goods manufactured passed on to Profitability Analysis
Account Assignment : It's use for direct posting. In this we have to assign GL which is required to post directly.

  • Is there a way to bypass activity type/ cost element for CJ20n Activity?

    Hi Experts,
Is there a way to bypass the activity type set in the Internal tab of a particular activity in CJ20n?
Here's a background of the scenario:.
    - In CJ20n, under WBS element 100->Network 10->Activity 1, under the internal tab, the activity type set up is ACT1
    - Under person assignment, I have 2 resources assigned Person 1 and Person 2, with the following values:
      Person 1          Work: 1.0h Dur. 10D
      Person 2          Work: 2.0h Dur. 15D
    - In infotype 135, person 1 has a cost element set as ACT2 and person 2 has a cost element ACT3.
    - The problem is that when you bring up the Plan/ Actual comparision report (ctrl+F11 in CJ20n), the costs are consolidated for ACT1 and negates the cost elements for Person 1 and Person 2
Is there a way to bypass this and use the individual cost elements set up for person 1 and person 2?

I dont think this is possible for the scenario that you explained. I mean, you have a single activity which has 2 resources assigned and each of these resources has a different activity type. Standard SAP allows only 1 activity type for an activity.
Just a query, why dont you create 2 different activities for these resources since the activity types are diff for both?
