Costing shows high value due to BOM alternative material

Hi,
In BOM we have maintained alternative material for few line items.(not maintained alternative BOM) When we do the standard cost run system is taking main material and alternative material value. so the cost of the product is showing high.
How system will behave this situation when doing standard cost estimate? how to avoid this excess value due to adding the alternative material?

Dear Govindaraj,
If there are alternative items maintained in the BOM,then as per the usage probability defined for each
item the cost will be taken.
say for one item if its 60% and for the another if its 40% means accordingly the cost gets captured.
So goto CS03,say Items X and Y are defined under alt.item group A1,now select the first item(row) X
and click on item details and check under Basic tab page you will be able to see the alt.item group
along with priority, strategy and usage probability.
So in CK11N or CK40N,it will be showing as 6 ea and 4 ea along with their prices for costing part.
So as per to the usage prob it picksup for the costing part.
Check and revert back.,

  • Bytes in execution plans shows high value in oracle 11.2.0.3 than 10.2.0.4

    Hi,
I copied data from 10.2.0.4 database to 11.2.0.3, gathered stats similar to 10.2.0.4 database and running same query against both database.

That would seem to imply that the 11.2.0.3 database expects one row of the table to occupy 2263 bytes while the 10.2.0.4 database expects one row of the table to occupy 257 bytes. Which estimate is closer to the correct value? How much space does the table occupy in each database? How many rows are in each database?

  • AltItem Group in BOM  / Alternative Material

    Experts,
In Assy A I have two materials B & C in BOM, I like to route the demands to material B as long as I have enough material on stock. If I have no stock or not enough of material B to cover demands of  Assy A, system should automatically switch demands to material C.
Is there a way to set this up in SAP, ideally with MRP support to calculate demands between B and C.
    Thanks in advance
    Jörg

Dear Sir, in your case the item B and C are alternate items .For this you have to define the tewo material as alternate one.
SAy e.g B abd C are line item 10 and 11 respectivelly.Double click onthe first line item  define a alternate item group,
than define priority Strategy and Usage probability.
    Say for example
item   Alternate Item        Priority      Strategy      Usage Probability
    B         X                              1             2                          100
      C     X                                 2           2                               100

  • System must show msg - Due to phys. inv., material is blocked for movement

    Hi,
We want that when do anything (create PO, create BOM, material movements etc) on XXXXX material, system must show the message - Due to phys. inv., material is blocked for movements.
If we mark X in Phys. Inv. Block indicator in material master under Store location stock, then this msg must be shown, but not happening this.
    How can we do it.
    Regards.

    Hi,
Maintain the blocking indicator in the purchasing view of material master - Plant-sp.matl status.
Based on the block configuration you will get warning/error message.
The Physical inventory block indicator in Storage location stock view is set automatically when you create a physical inventory document with posting block.
But this block will only restrict material movements for this material. PO/BOM creation will be allowed.
    Hope its clear.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Limit SC showing Zero value in report SC per cost centre in SRM portal

    Hi SRM Gurus,
On executing SC per cost centre report avaialble in SRM 5.0 Portal I am getting value of limit SC as zero. while in all other follow on documents i.e. PO and Invoice its displaying the value.
Is it due to the fact the for Limit Items we don't have any GR/confirmation i.e zero quantity? and the value column field has Sigma symbol on it. so maybe it is multiplying quantity with the value here?
Is this SAP SRM standard for limit items to show zero value in this report ?
Please let me know. Thanks for the help.

  • Cost component wise value is not showing

    Hi,
I have created one costcomponenent structure and cost component created like 10,20,30,40 and 50 and each we have assigned saprate GL's. I  runned standard cost estimate for one material and i checked the cost component breakup, system is not giving the breakup as per my GL assignment. In 10 i have assigned raw material gl and 20 i have assigned semimaterial but in the costing update rawmaterial and semimaterial values are updated in 10. It is not updating 10 and 20 respectively. Can you guide me to solve this issue. Total value of the material is correct.(valuation class of the materials is different for rawmaterial and semimaterial)
    govind

    hi govindh..
You do not have to creat cost component for Semi finished material produced inhouse because Primary raw materials for manufacturing this item has already cost component and when this semis will be used in subsequent process cost will be rolled up to respective raw material components used to manufacture the semis.
But if you have purchased Semis, you can ctreat seperate cost component as Purchased SEMIS and assign consumption GL of purchased SEmis in that component to view it seperately.
    We have such senerio.

  • Costing run with values for material from info record.

    Hi All
there is requirement with my client, that when i run my costing run the values of the components in BOM should be from the latest purchase order.
For this i am maintined valuation criteria as price from info record and sub strategy as gross price from PO.
When i am create a PO the info record is created automatically in background. So when i run costing run the value is picked correctly.
Now when i create a PO with same material from diff vendor the info record is generated, but on costing run it picks the value from the info record of earlier vendor. For this i go and check the conditions tab in info record, ensure its balnk and save it. Again generate new PO and then run a costing run. This time the system reads the latest info record.
My problem is that i want to ensure that during the costing run, system should read the latest info record w/o manual intervention. System behaviour is not consistent when there is multiple vendor and same material info records. Sometimes it pick up the value and sometimes it refers the old info record.
Can any one help me out in resolving this issue. Its critical.
    Regards
    Rakesh

    Hi!
Generally first info records will be created with vendor, then PO will be created, based on info records price, price will be updated in PO.
If you have more than one vendor for same material, you have to create info records for each vendor. then you need to maintain source list, where you can fix the vendor. If there is no fix vendor, then you can do schedule agreement with vendors, where you have to give proportionate percentages again each vendor.
    Now for costing run :
    1. if you have only one info record, the price will take from that info record.
    2. if you have more than one info record, you need to mantain source list, where you can tick the fixed vendor, then system will take price from that vendor info record.
    3. if there is no fixed vendor and you have maintained scehduel agreement with weightage to vendor, then higher percentage vendor info record price will be picked up.
    4. if you have more info reocrds, not maintianed source list or schedule agreement, price will be picked up from first info record ( based on info record creation date).
    5. if you have a schedule agreement, but you have given equal weightage for example 50% and 50%, then also system will pick up from first info record.
i think it is clear now.

  • In Alert Monitor - Is it possible to add Price or Cost as Column Value?

    Hey Folks
I am trying to define a methodology to manage and work on the exceptions in the Alert Monitor,
and I would like to carry on the ABC analysis based on Price or Cost?
The alert monitor was defined prior to my time on this latest project.
Would it be simple to add or difficult to link the price from values from whatever table they come from,
to show as column fields? so they ABC analysis can use that column as the Ratio one?
If anyone think this is feasible let me know.
    thanks for your feedback
    JD Loera

    Hello!
Awesome, thanks for the response, I will put that in my project list and will link with the Basis/ABAP team.
    Cheers!
Business Procees note to all out there in *APO DP Business Processes and Planning.*
If you use the alert monitor, as you know you can define there macro generated alerts and analyise through the variances from Target and Actual Values.
Also, you can still use the ABC analysis there, to identify A B C of the results that you get ( in the example above, % of variance )
However, from a Business Process bang for your buck and time. By adding the Material Cost or Price, the Demand Planner or SNP Planner can also do the ABC analysis based on the price as well, and really then identify the items with higher value to work with,as those are important to always keep in check. (ABC from the fiancial point of view so to speak)
Cheers all, worth to think about for your own Alert Monitor processes.

  • CK11 costing of repeated component item on bom

Looking for a product costing solution to the following scenariou2026
Bill of material contains a component that is listed twice, but with a different procurement indicator (purchase vs. production) for each occurrence.  The reason for this is that these are boms for repair and it is not known until the end item is disassembled whether the components will need to be replaced (and therefore purchased) or repaired (produced).  The procurement type on the material master is u2018Xu2019 for both procurement types.  Using historical statistics, an estimate is done for  what the produced vs. purchased quantities of the component should be.  For example, a repair calls for 10 of a certain component.  Historically, 70% of the time, the component can be repaired and 30% it will have to be replaced.  So, the component is listed once on the item list with a quantity of 7, and procurement indicator of production.  Itu2019s then listed again with a quantity of 3, and a procurement indicator of purchase.  From a logistics execution standpoint (production, MRP) this process is working.
The problem is using CK11 to cost the end item.  While a cost estimate is created for the component, itu2019s based on the first listing of the component.  So, using my example above, if the production alternative  quantity was listed first, all 10 would be valued at the production value.
Any ideas on how I can get around this?  Iu2019ve looked at mixed costing, but this would require additional maintenance for the procurement ratios, which we are trying to avoid.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
Mixed costing is your only option in this regard....
Else, what the system is doing currently is the only choice.. OR At best what you can do is you can treat it for costing purposes as In-House i.e. repaired always.. This is because, most of the time it is so

  • Shipment cost based on Value

I need your valuable suggestion on how to create the Value based shipment cost.
    Our Process:
Create POS - Create Inbound delivery - Create Shipment - Create Shipment cost - Post Inbound Delivery.
So while posting the inbound delivery, the freight cost will post against the material. The invoice will be paid for the Vendor for the quantity purchased and freight charge will be paid for the freight Vendor(s).
We are adding the Vendor in the Shipment and adding the cost against the Vendor in the Shipment Cost.
Everything is working fine, but the shipment cost posting against the material was happening based on the delivery weight / quantity.
The reason for this asking the question is - we are receiving high value items and low value items with the same weight.
Question 1: Is it possible to have the shipment cost being split, calculated and posted against the material based on the PO Item received Value or PO Price
Quesion 2: Is it possible to post the shipment cost at a later date? Currently, the shipment cost posts when the inbound delivery is received (I know the material value will be posted when there is stock changes or price changes).  But our issue is the invoice for the shipment cost will be received after a couple of days from the goods receipt. Right now we are entering couple of costs through assumption, then while postig the invoice, we adjust that value.
Note: I cannot enter the condition directly in the PO, as the same PO item will be partially received by multiple inbound deliveries

Freight carriers charges weight on the basis of Weight / volume of the items.SAP shipment works on the same principle.
Cost of transporting ton of Potataoes  is same as transporting 10 ton of aluminium between two known destinations.
Hence it is illogical to distributes cost on the basis of item value. However if still you want to distribute the same on value basis then maintain freight condition(%) in PO as per your prefined logic of distribution of freight cost.
It is well known fact that cost of freight % is always higher in  Low value items & iis low in case of High value items.

  • AFAR test run showing the values but not posting in Real run.

    Hi Friends,
    i have an issue with AFAR recalculating the depreclation. The details are as below;
    1. Asset value date is 15.07.2010. but ordinary dep. start date was set as 01.01.2010 manually by the user.
    2. The Period control method 11, the dep. is calculated for entire year for acquisition.
    3. we have already calculated depreciation from period 12 2010 to period 04, 2011.
    4. Now, we have changed ordinary depreciation start date for 5 asset records from 01.01.2010 to 15.07.2010.
    5. Therefore, we recalculated AFAR for these assets for 2010 and test run is showing the values for these 5 asset. The same was expected by the business.
    6. When we execute the real run, it is not posting and no change in asset explorer for period 12, 2010 or in current period. No error message is available in spool / job log.
We have opened FI periods as well.
My question is  that why the system calculating the values in test run and if it is calculated in test run, why it is not posting in update run?
As per the period control method, the depreciation should not recalculated for half year even we change the ordinary dep, start date from 1st Jan to 15th July.
I  request you to clarify my doubt and help me to understand the error which is stoping the values in update run of AFAR.
    Best Regards,
    Padmaja

    Hi,
Sorry...it is not worked out. Alternatively, i tried the shift factor with variable depreciation and i achieved the values which appeared in AFAR test run.
    Thanks for the help.
