Costing Variant for refurbhsiment order

Hi,
I have settting up refurbishment order. will the costing variant would be different for ref.order from normal maintenance order?

Hi,
Costing variants contain control parameters for all aspects of costing.
The costing variant forms the link between the application and
Customizing, since cost estimates are created and saved with reference
to a costing variant.
The costing variant controls how costing is executed, such as:
o Whether the costing results are planned costs or actual costs
o Which prices are used to valuate materials, internal activities, and
external activities
o How overhead is calculated
A costing variant includes the following groups of settings:
o Costing type
o Valuation variant
o Number range assignment
to know more about Costing part , dicuss with your CO consultant,
try  OIOF tocheck for the costing variant assigned to Refurbishment order type. Remember Refurbishment order will be settled to the Material itself not to the Cost Center

    We define costing variant for standard cost estimation.  We are in Process Order scenario.  Likewise, should we have to use a costing variant for actual product estimation ?  We want to have actual cost from the Product costing to the COPA from the cost component structure.

    I think you are mixing up 2 things
    1. One is costing variant for actual product cost estimate -  As said by Declan you need to deifne this in OPL1 and assign it to your prod order type
    2. Std cost estimate in COPA: For this you create a costing key and assign your costing variant (that you used for std cost estimate in CK11N/CK40N).... You assign this costing key to material types, etc and map your cost component structure to value fields.... With this, your std cost estinate gets trf to COPA during SD billing

    Hi Friends,
    This is Azam and here i am new to this discussion forum.
    we are in situation that use diffrent variant for configurable material in sales order related production,
    I would like to have some information about use product cost collector for this kind of sales order related production,
    also I want to know difference between prelimanary cost estimate or cost estimate for sales order?

    Hi,
    Here, for each sales order item, you will have sales order cost estimate. This enables the system to compute the variances once the actual costs are booked against the production.
    In the case of preliminery cost, we get the preliminery cost for production order as a plan cost and is not being used for the computation of variance but only for comparision purpose which is very marginally used.

  • Cost estimate for sales order

    Dear Friends,
    In a make to stock scenario a finished good is sold from the depot and thereafter it is returned. After creating the credit memo for return, when the same is being released to accounting in VF02, the system throws an error message which reads 'Error reading the material cost estimate for sales order "12000373". and the document cannot be passed on to accounting. Although, we are able to release the sales invoice to accounting without any error. In the item condition tab for sales order the standard cost VPRS is updated as we enter the plant.
    Strategy group for the material is 40-planning with final assembly. The concern over here is that why the system is asking for cost estimate at the level of sales return.
    Please suggest why this error is coming and how the same can be released to accounting.

    Hello Friend,
    The problem is that Material you are using for that Cost Estimate is not done. So go to T.Code CK11 give the Costing Variant, Material & Plant and go on entar and entar. If everything is green in end then save it.
    Then Go to T.code CK24 give the Company Code, material & Plant and then execute.
    Click Back and click on Release Button and then execute.
    Then try the Transaction you have got the error again.

  • Error reading material cost estimate for sales order (KE292)

    I have an issue with billing. we are posting july month transactions, the material cost is maintained through MR21. When releasing billing document for accounting we are getting error message like"Error reading the material cost estimate for sales order "11"
    Message no. KE292
    Diagnosis
    In Profitability Analysis (CO-PA), the system tried to valuate item 000010 of sales order 11 by reading the corresponding product cost estimate.
    However, no product cost estimate could be found for this sales order item.
    The system accessed product costing for product AMLFP011011XX00P using costing key YB3 as defined in the
    CO-PA Customizing settings.
    System Response
    The system cannot process the document any further.
    Procedure
    Check your Customizing settings."
    We cross checked with other client as a current date and we ran cost estimate through CK40N with same material. and we posted entries. Here it is working fine. but in above process it is not working. Can you pls guide me where i missed.

    Hi,
    When the Costing Key is assigned to the material types in the COPA customizing, then system expects Cost estimation when billing is released to Accounts.
    If you dont run cost estimation but update the material master through MR21, system will not accept as in the Costing key configuration you must have selected the Current Standard price field for the valuation.
    Hence, try to run cost estimation and then do releasing.

    itself says that there is no delivery cost,
    firstly check ur PO ,Did u entere the delivery cost conditions like for freight or octoi in the PO
    or if u have entered the condition then check if it is not already invoiced
    if u dont have delivery cost in po and wanna do IV for material then in miro
    change the option of delivery cost to goods/service
    (at right side of the po no field)

  • Can we use two costing variants for standards cost estimate release.

    Hi,
    We have 2 plants (plant 5100 and plant 5200) under company code 5000.
    We have run standard cost estimate(CK11N) for material 98001000027 at plant 5100 using costing variant ZG01 and at plant 5200 using costing variant ZG02. First, we released  standard cost estimate (CK24) for this materia at plant 5100 and set (in marking allowance) costing variant ZG01 and costing version 01. Next time when we are trying to release the standard cost estimate for the same material for plant 5200, it is automatically picking ZG01 as costing variant in marking allowance and it is not allowing to change the costing variant to ZG02 saying Company code 5000: Release already carried out, cancellation not possible, Message no. CK797.
    Is it possible to use two different costing variants for release of standard cost estimate for a material at two different plants at the same company code? If so how?
    Please suggest.

    What is the benefit of assigning "Single Valuation Variant same to different Plants" ? In costing variant also we can assign maximum only one valuation variant and this valuation variant will default for all the plants, and hence I dont think it is necessary to assign same valuation variant to different plants.
    My  issue is :
    Example: ( Standard Cost Estimate for material 98001000027)
    Plant - 1
    Material Cost                                             Rs.100
    Labour Cost                                               Rs.50
    Overheads (10% of Labour Cost)                  Rs.5
    (say ,through costing sheet - 1)
    Total Standard Cost Estimate                      Rs.155
    Plant - 2
    Material Cost                                             Rs.150
    Labour Cost                                               Rs.100
    Overheads (20% of Labour Cost)                  Rs.20
    (say, through costing sheet - 2)
    Total Standard Cost Estimate                      Rs.270
    Now, Please explain why we cannot have two Standard Cost Estimates for a material at two different plants? If it is possible to have two standard cost estimates for a material at two different plants, how to take care of  overheads (rate of which varies) at two different plants (plant - 1 > 10% and plant- 2>20%) as we can assign maximum one costing sheet to a valuation variant variant?
    How to map the system so as to meet the above requirement?

    Can we use two costing variant for standard cost estimate of two different materials in the same period ? e.g. Costing variant Z001 for Material code 1000 and Costing Variant Z002 for Material code 2000.
    Here the system is not allowing to change the costing variant in Marking Allowance (t code CK24) for marking and release of Material cost 2000 if the standard cost for Material code 1000 is already marked and released.

    For a material in a period only one price can be released. Though you cn have two separate costing variants and then calculate standard estimate with that. U can release based on one variant only for a month. Or use MR21 and update the price as per the other variant

    or else variance gets calculated.
    Two GLs which gets hit are
    Change in stock a/c Dr.
    To Inventory Price Difference a/c Cr.                or vice versa......

  • Screen variants for particular orders

    Hi,
    I have a querry.
    My client wants to make the material and quantity fields uneditable in CO01 and CO02 T-codes.  For this we have created a screen variant. But the practical problem is we are having Rewqoek Order types also. For this Rework Orders the material and quantity fields should be editable.
    So is it possible to tackle this problem by screen variants?
    Is it possible to call screen variant only for a set of order types?

         We are now not able to get a report of Material consumption cost, Cost center wise. It is Because cost center is not linked to Production order or not linked to material issued to production order. Can we get the cost of material cosumption for  production order cost center wise.     Hi,
         Prod order is linked with controlling, for the direct costs like material cost linked with accounting view, costing view and secondary costs are linked with costing tab in work center and inturn workcenter is assigned to cost center, and for the prod order controlling part you will be assigned to the costing variant in transaction OPL8, if you remove this you can't get any reports.
    To understand the difference
    201 - Goods issue against cost center. Means you create reservation through MB21 and do posting of cost directly at cost center.
    261 - Goods issue to Production order. Means you create a reservation through Production order  and do posting of cost to Production order. When cost settlement of production order is done cost from production order will get transfered to cost center mentioned in settlement rule of production order.
    Hope this clarifies your doubt.

    we use for some production order types the product cost collector. Now we plan to abolish them and change the settlement for production order. Which things do we have to pay attention? Do we have to finish our running production orders first or is it possible to change customizing during running production process. Thanks for your hepl!

    thank you for your answer.
    We have tested two variants:
    1. new order type, so we can process two separate settlements, for orders with PCC and the new orders without PCC. After archiving of all prodorders with pcc, archiving of pcc it should be possible to switch back to old order type.
    2. change customizing without finishing existing orders, settlement for existing orders, all orders which already have been processed will be settled by pcc (status pcc usage in order header) We have not be seen any strange system behavior.
    We use the pcc collector for different order types in different plants and want to abolish plant by plant. In this time the pcc will still be customized/exists.
