Create custom device driver package

Hello,
I'm working with LabVIEW 2014 + RT and FPGA addons.
I have to provide a real-time application to many customers.
This application is created and can be installed using MAX as User Component to run at startup. I created a CDF file to do this.
Our customer don't need to use LabVIEW. They just need the device drivers linked to our application.
Is it possible to create a custom device driver package in order to provide only needed device drivers ?
I would like to do something like the device drivers installer but only with a litle part of it in order to install automatically everything needed and not more to deploy my application using MAX.
Best Regards,
CFOE

Perhaps you could use the RAD tool (or a modified version of it - it's open source)? See here: http://www.ni.com/example/30986/en/
You can use it to create an 'image' of your RT controller which you can then use the tool to restore the image onto the device. There are also a lot of utilities in the System Configuration palette to help you do this.

  • Device driver package /  loading device driver at the boot time

I have finished writing device driver. Now I have to make a package
for it and I dont know how to write files in package format.
Maybe there is another way to support to user installation tools.
I need my driver to be loaded every time boot is done at the boot time.
Is there any way to do this?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Then you can edit your /etc/fstab and do:

    thanks, vcolonel.
Yes, I have ntfs-3g installed. But although I edited fstab as you said, it couldn't mount the drive automatically.
I guess this problem is not caused by ntfs. Because it happens to ext4 and fat too.
And I found that the partition had been overwritten.

  • Has anyone created a device driver for the DG101 Programmable Delay Generator?

I am wondering if anyone has written a LabVIEW driver for the DG101 Programmable Delay Generator third party device?

I have looked at the instrument driver network and there is nothing listed there.  The board comes with the source code for the device as well as a gui to run under windows but I am working on the PXI-8196 embedded controller running a RTOS so the .dll that comes with the board is not compatible.   I have been on the phone and email with NI over the last 3-4 weeks trying to figure out how to import the .dll, how to wrap the .dll, and how to create a new .dll.  I spoke with someone yesterday and they told me that I would have to write a register level interface driver to work with the board and that it is very difficult for even the most experienced person.  They suggested I outsource it but I was just curious, seeing that this board belongs to a very small community of programmable delay generators, that someone may have written a driver that is available.
    Thanks,

  • WES 7 OSD standalone (works) vs bootable (fails) - Failed to find suitable device driver for device (help)

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to deploy a Windows Embedded Standard 7 (trial key at the moment) image in SCCM 2012 SP1 with a very simple task sequence.
    I have a 'build and capture' and an OSD TS. I'm testing these on Hyper-V PCs and both work fine when i create stand alone media. The problem arrises when I try to deploy (or build & capture) with a bootable media;
The TS starts, formats the disk, applies the OS, Windows and network settings, Apply Device Drivers etc., but when it reboots into Windows
(or WES7 to be exact) it cant boot. The Windows Boot Manager reports a 0xc0000359 for storvsc.sys
And I can't figure out what's wrong. I will post the SMSTS log further down below. The SAME TS works fine when it's a stand alone media.
    I have tried to:
    - Apply the WIM manually (nothing wrong - boots fine)
    - Create and apply driver package for the Hyper-V machines (from the MSI's Windows5.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x86 and Windows5.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x64)
    - No dice
    - Create a new boot image with the hyper-v drivers in it. No dice
    - Google everything related I can think of.
I suspect it has something to do with the lines where it says:
"Failed to find a suitable device driver for device xxx”
It also has a couple of 401 errors when trying to get the packages, but it seems like it DOES end up getting the content.
Please help! What could it be?
I have 2 Hyper-V machines; one w. legacy network adapter - one not. Both have same issue.

  • Device Driver Issue - Please help

    Hello All,
We are currently using SCCM 2012 SP1 for OS Deployment and i have been working on a HP elitebook 820 G1 and probook 650 G1. Both build successfully but do not install any device drivers.
I have downloaded the driver package from HPs website, extracted all the drivers (inf, sys, cat) and put them into 'one' folder, i then created a driver package and imported the drivers into the package and category.
In the task sequence i have created a 'apply driver package task' with the wmi query for this model, i have also tried disabling the 'auto detect drivers' so that it doesn't look into the DB.
So far i haven't had any luck and have been working on this for over a week.
I have looked at the smsts log on the workstation after the build and there are no errors relating to drivers.
    Any help will be appreciated

Honestly it sounds like something isn't right with the WMI query. Can you confirm that your WMI query is correct? Open a command prompt on one of the computer models you are having issues with. Run "wmic csproduct get name" which will report back the computer
model as seen by WMI. Confirm that your WMI query would be valid based on that name. WMI queries that I have used...
    Most manufacturers:
SELECT * FROM Win32_ComputerSystem WHERE Model like "<model name from WMI>"
    Lenovo:
SELECT * FROM Win32_ComputerSystemProduct WHERE Version like "ThinkPad T510"
    Jarvis

  • CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 device driver discovery problem

    Hi,
We have many devices Cisco 3825 on our network. For some of them, the device driver is correctly discovered but not for others.
    - Devices correctly discovered : cisco3825 : Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3825-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(5a), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupportCopyright (c) 1986-2006 by Cisco Systems, Inc.Compiled Fri 13-Jan-06 21:09 by alnguyen : snmp oid : .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.543
    - Devices not recognized : cisco3825 : Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3825-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T9, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc5)Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupportCopyright (c) 1986-2009 by Cisco Systems, Inc.Compiled Tue 28-Apr-09 17:45 by prod_rel_team : snmp oid : .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.543
I didn't see any new device driver package on Cisco site.
Does somebody has an idea ?
    Many thanks,
    Fabien GIRAUD

I'm not sure I clearly understand the problem.  Are you saying that some 3825s are not being discovered by Common Services Discovery?  If so, are they showing up as unreachable, or are they not showing up at all in the Discovery reports?

  • Execution of RT driver VIs in custom device

    Hi All
I am building a custom device wherein I am expecting some user input.( user provides input on the main page of the custom device).
Once the input is provided , based on it i am reading specific data from file and creating channels and section.
Previously creation of channels and section i was doing in initailiazation code.  But now As i am expecting user input i cannot create those channels in initialization(reason is before getting input channels will be created which i dont want. My channel creation depends on the user input ).
So this channel creation logic I am now writing in RT driver VI along with my main logic of reading and writing of channels. For this I just want to know when does exactly RT driver VI starts its execution ?
If the RT driver Vi starts execution after adding custom deivce in veristand and after giving the user input then my purpose will be solved.
I hope i have explained my question correctly.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The driver starts after the system definition is deployed.  I don't think you can add channels in the driver VI.  Nor do I think you want to, because you won't have an interface to them in the system definition.  Without an interface to the channels, i.e. mapping, how will you get data into and out of them?  I think your plan to create channels based on user input and config data is fine.  I suggest you implement in the main page or in custom pages under the main page.

  • OSD - Creating 1 Image with choice of Software & Driver Packages

I am kindda new to SCCM 2012. I was wondering if it is possible to have like 1 Windows 8.1 Image and when it is being deployed we get a prompt for choice of Driver and Application Packages. The reason is that we have different kind of laptops and different
requirements for software. It would be good to have a prompt where you can choose which Driver Package to deploy based on the hardware and choice of software package that depends of the user's department.

Retrograde_PAK, a good majority of our software deployments occur based on our computer naming convention so having a decent naming convention would
be very helpful. I also create collections for all(most) of my software packages and am able to pull device records into their deployment collections based on membership queries again typically I leverage our naming convention but you could use any number
of things... AD location... Installed OS... basically anything that sccm has stored in its db for those records. then those collection are populated automatically based on those queries and the package is installed.

  • Custom PCI Device Driver for Phar Lap

    Hi all,
I have deployed Labview Real-Time to a compact-PCI card in a cPCI chassis (non-NI brand for several unavoidable reasons). I need to do high-speed communication with another card in the chassis at minimum rates of 20 MB/s read, 4MB/s write - but preferably much higher. After extensive testing, we believe that NI VISA is incapable of maintaining those speeds in our system, and it barely maintains half those (side note: the hardware is more than capable as we have deployed embedded software that easily achieved the desired data rates).
Another engineer is responsible for finding ways to optimize VISA. The purpose of this post is to explore the option of writing a custom kernel driver for Phar Lap 2013 in C to handle communication with the other card. I have experience in writing windows kernel drivers, but the NI documentation for Phar Lap is severely lacking in this area.
    So the overarching questions are:
1- Is it possible to do this?
2- If so, is it possible to use LabWindows/CVI to do this?
Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks

    Hi:
    Yes, it does.
You need this driver for the PCI Device.

  • Create customized and managed msi package for software installation in gpo

    Hello everybody,
I have a many users in a domain and  need to install different software on systems ,but each software has it's own
configuration, for example we need to install internet download manager(idm) and want to check mark and define some options in  menus .
what's the solution ? or which program is good to create msi package with custom details ?
    thanks for reply

    Hi Nima,
     >>or which program is good to create msi package with custom details ?
Based on your description, we can try to use Orca.exe to customize .msi package.
Regarding this point, the following thread and articles can be referred to for more information.

  • Drivers - Can you do both "Apply Driver Package" and "Auto Apply Device Drivers - PNP" in the same Task Seqeunce ?

    Hi All,
It has been mentioned to be that it is possible to have both "Apply Driver Package" and "Auto Apply Device Drivers - PNP' " specified in the same task sequence, with some kind of logic specified that if the Apply Driver Package step does
not run due to the hardware wmi query not being valid then the 'Apply Device Drivers -PNP' will run instead. Vice-versa - if the "Apply Driver Package" wmi query is correct and driver package applied then the 'Auto Apply Device Drivers -PNP'
will not run and be skipped.
    Is this possible ?
I can't seem to find any documentation or reference indication this can be done. :-(
    Many thanks everyone..

To add some info here, note that the end result of both tasks is the same. Neither actually *installs* drivers in any way. Both simply copy the drivers to the target system and inject them into the image being deployed where they are then available to Windows
Setup (which runs during the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr task) to install based upon the Windows Setup standard PNP detection.
Thus, using both task types, depending upon what is in the driver packages and what is detected by the OSD PNP detection (which differs slightly from the OS PNP which is far more complex and has been described as a "black art"), potentially injects
more drivers into the image potentially making more drivers available to Windows Setup. This could of course increase your deployment time.
I've thought about this approach before and it is technically valid, but I've never had to resort to it. I've always just made sure that the drivers packages are complete. If you're trying to address the scenario of hardware without a explicit driver package,
I could see it working but I could also see it causing problems because drivers are weird. In general, I would recommend always testing new hardware and anything not accounted for is considered unsupported.

  • Create additional installer error code -12 file not found from device driver cd

I'm trying to build an installer for a project that includes several NI drivers - specifically NI-DMM. NI-SCOPE, NI-SWITCH, NI-845x, and a few others (MAX, DAQ, etc). When I build the software standalone (and only include the run-time engine), it works fine. However, when I try to build the installer with the additional installers (mentioned above), the build prompts me for device driver cds, and then fails. Specifically, it fails on the February 2006 Device Driver cd. The error is attached below.
    I have tried
     - repairing all the installations of the software mentioned
     - using a new project and re-adding the files
     - building the additional installers seperately (no source code installed)
     - copying the driver cds to the harddrive and referencing them there when needed
The next step will be to reinstall all of those drivers from scratch, but I really would prefer not to. Does anyone have any ideas (or solutions) regarding this problem?

I have had this happen a lot espescially with LV 8.0 -8.20. What I had to do was take the device drivers CD and copy it to the and run the installation of the software from the copy on the hard disk.
When you build an exe with additional installers it looks at the last place that  you installed the drivers from. Anyway it worked for me so it might work for you.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 300/400 (M375nw & M475dn) - Driver packages will not install

    Hello all,
I need some assistance with a very persistent and frustrating issue trying to get driver software packages for our LaserJet M375nw & M475dn to install correctly. We are running Windows 7 Pro x64 on HP 8300 desktop PCs.
We have these printers printing properly via our print server and the proper .inf driver but need the ability to scan to the PC. I would like to install the HP-provided software packages (which include the Scan driver & utility) but am running into the error below.
"A problem occurred while preparing to install software to your system. Please restart your computer, and run this installer again. If the problem persists, please check the product support web site for your product."
I get this error at 80% in the "preparing to install" process. I am using the latest drivers from the website for each of these models (which actually use the same package). I have tried both the Full and Basic driver package with the same results.
We have these printers installed via a static IP on the Network, not USB. I am trying to install as a Local Administrator. UAC is disabled. The PC is fully updated and doesn't have much in the way of custom software. It has SCCM client, MS SQL Native Client, Google Earth, Adobe, Trend Micro AV, OnBase, Office 2007 and Chrome installed.
Here are some of the things I've tried w/o success:
Tried installing with latest drivers from HP website
    Ran all Windows updates
Ran the Scrubber uninstaller provided in the package / Running "uninstall" executable from HP software
Disabled all non-MS startup programs/services in msconfig, disabled Antivirus, rebooted, tried to again
Restarting computer (many, many times between different troubleshooting steps)
Tried disabling "Smart Install" (though I think this only applies to USB connections)
Checked print spooler - it indeed is started/running properly
    Uninstalled all HP-branded software
Can any of you offer some help please? I'm not sure what to try next.

And when I try to load Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition I get a window saying:
    'DirectX device creation error' followed by;
Failed creating D3D device of at least version 10.0 on adapter "Intel(R) HD Graphics" with driver "Unknown".  Error is DXGI_ERROR_UNSUPORTED ("Unsuported.").
This is typically casued by not having the minimum required DirectX support in the GPU.
For NVIDIA GPUs, DirectX 10.0 support is required.
For AMD and GPUs from other vendors, DirectX 10.1 support is required.
Ok, for Medal of Honor Warfighter it says my graphics processor doesnt support DirectX 10.1, but the fact is I have direct X 11 which contains everything that DirectX 10.1 contains.  So I assume that DirectX or Medal of Honor Warfighter is looking at the name of my video card, comparing it to a list of compatable cards, my card having been customized by the manufacturer is not on the list, and so it refuses to try to load DirectX or Medal of Honor Warfighter?  I dont know, if there is some other way to correct the problem that would be great, but I'd really like to update my video card.  I have heard that updating a customized manufacturer driver can casue instability, but i'm willing to take the risk.  If I cant get a solution to my problem here, I'd like to at least know what my graphics card model is other than just 'Intel(R) HD Graphics (core I5)' so that I can continue searching on my own.

Well, yes and no... the card requires 2 "physical slots" but only connects to one "electrical slot"... the PCIe x16 slot. Your computer has 5 expansion slots... one PCIe x16 slot, three PCIe x1slots, and a mini-PCIe x1 slot. The mini-PCIe x1 slot hosts the factory wireless card and it appears the the other four slots are empty. The GTX 550 Ti card would connect to the PCIe x16 slot and cover or hide the adjacent PCIe x1 slot. This is normal and designed to work like that. It just requires that the adjacent slot is empty.
