    How can I create a sub-folder within my "Documents" folder? I have many similar documents that I want to group together. This will also un-clutter my Documents folder.

    Also, you can add a New Folder button to the Finder's toolbar by opening Finder, going to the View menu in the menubar, selecting Customize Toolbar..., and dragging the New Folder icon to the toolbar in the Finder window. Then it's just one-click for new folders wherever you want them.

  • How can I allow visitors to my website to search within pdf documents created with Acrobat?

    I honestly had no idea where to place this question. If I should move it to another forum area please just let me know. I have about 200-300 pdf documents on my website and people are able to search by the title of the file but not for items in the body of the document. Is there a way that is possible?

    Are the documents encrypted? If they are not, the common search engines (Google, etc) will normally index all the text in a PDF, the same as if it was a regular Web page. They don't index non-text media within a PDF (images, attachments, etc.) nor will they handle PDF Portfolios.

  • Viewing bookmarks within PDF document on the iPad

    I created a PDF document using the bookmark feature in Adobe.   When I open the PDF in my email on an iPad using the GOOD browser or Safari, the bookmarks do not display.  Are there any other options besides downloading an app such as Adobe Reader that will enable me to view and utilize the bookmark feature within a PDF document on the iPad?

  • How do I create a folder to which PDF documents are automatically saved?

    I save many PDF documents which I then attach to various internal forms.
    Is there a way to create a folder to which the scanned document can automatically be saved without having to browse for the folder every time I save a document?

    Unless your scanning software has that feature, "Save as" opens up a "browse" window by default in Windows or Mac. I had an old Lexmark scanner that allowed setting a default save location for "bulk scans", but I haven't seen that feature in years.

  • Creating unique passwords for a PDF document

    I'm going to be selling a PDF eBook on the Internet.
    I would like to know if there is a way to create a unique PDF password for each customer
    rather than having every customer have the same password that was created in Adobe Pro.
    I purchased a $20 eBook that requires you to enter a unique alpha-numeric
    password (given only to me) before the Adobe file shows the eBook contents.
    I was given a password upon purchasing and when I downloaded and double clicked
    on the PDF file, it had the standard message
    "this PDF is protected. Please enter a Document Open Password."
    They company selling that product must have found a way to create unique passwords
    for each customer with their PDF document.
    Any help or comments would be appreciated.

    George - what I will be selling is a 650-page PDF eBook.  Given the amount of content (especially the quality of the content), it's worth protecting it.  LockLizard and such products are too high for a startup like mine.  They are geared more for the enterprise business level.
    Dave Merchant - I right clicked on the PDF eBook I mentioned in my original post that seems to have a unique password for each customer.  On the 'general' tab, it says at the bottom:
    "Security:  This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer."
    I'm not sure if that tells you anything.
    What's interesting is that after I cancelled the order for that $20 eBook product, the password still works - so the company using that password system either does not have the capability to revoke access or they simply forgot to revoke access to the eBook for me personally.
    BTW, I found out that e-junkie.com has a PDF stamping option that will stamp each buyer's PDF with their name, email address, and transaction number.  That would help.  But I would still like to have the customer have to login with a unique password or key code to access the eBook contents.  Having tenchology that revokes access to the eBook would also be ideal, but that might be too expensive to implement.
    thanks

  • Links within PDF document open linked PDF documents, but seem to replace original document rather than as additional documents.

    Hello good people of the Adobe Community!  I have a user of Adobe Reader XI that is having the following problem:
    She is viewing, what we will call, the "main document," and this document has many links to other PDF documents.  When she clicks on one of the links, the main document gets replaced by the new document.  She then needs to re-open the main document to view it again.  This happens with every link she clicks.  I worked with the document in Reader XI and am able to open every link as an additional document, thus allowing me to immediately view both the main document and the new document.
    My questions are:
    Is there some setting in her Reader that I do not have turned on/off, which is why she is having this issue and I am not?
    If not, then why is the user experiencing this "replacement" of the main document?
    How do I help her resolve this issue?
    Thank you for your time and attention.
    Ben

    I don't know if there is any way to configure this in the Reader preferences.
    However, it can be decided in the document itself.  I just created a test document (using Acrobat DC) with two links:
    one to open in the same window
    on the open in a new window
    Both links do what I selected:
    one opened in the same Reader window (replacing the original document)
    the other one opened a new Reader window
    When creating the links there was actually a third option: Window set by user preferences.  However, I cannot seem to find such a user preference in Adobe Acrobat Reader.  The default (in my case) seems to be to open in the same Reader window.

  • Create User-defined field for Marketing Documents

    I need to create a User-Defined field for Marketing Documents under Title and Rows.
    I need to do it via .NET instead of manually go into SAP to create it.
    Does anyone can give me idea on how to do this?

    Hi David,
    There are examples of how to do this in the SDK samples (look for MetaDataOperations project in the DI samples).
    There are also examples in the SDK help. Here's one:
    Private Sub AddUserField()
    '// The UserFieldsMD represents a meta-data object that allows you
    '// to addremove fields from tables or change the fields' characteristics
        Dim oUserFieldsMD As SAPbobsCOM.UserFieldsMD
    '// In any meta-data operation there should be no other object "alive"
    '// but the meta-data object, otherwise the operation will fail.
    '// This restriction is intended to prevent a collisions.
        '// The meta-data object needs to be initialized with a
        '// regular UserFields object
        Set oUserFieldsMD = oCompany.GetBusinessObject(oUserFields)
        '// When adding user tables or fields to the SAP Business One database
        '// use a prefix identifying your partner name space
        '// this will prevent collisions between the various partners add-ons
        '// SAP's name space prefix is "BE_"
        '// Set the Fields' mandatory properties
        oUserFieldsMD.TableName = "OCRD" '// BP table
        oUserFieldsMD.Name = "BE_UserField1"
        oUserFieldsMD.Description = "A user field"
        oUserFieldsMD.Type = db_Alpha '// am alphanumeric type
        oUserFieldsMD.EditSize = 20
        '// Add the field to the table
        oUserFieldsMD.Add
    End Sub
    Kind Regards,

  • Open Data Object -  Open File attachment within pdf document

    I am trying to build a script which will open file attachments embedded in a pdf document.
    I have used the following javascript to list all embedded files within a document so I can retrieve the name
    var d = this.dataObjects;
    for (var i = 0; i < d.length; i++)
    console.println("Data Object[" + i + "]=" + d[i].name);
    The console reported:
    Data Object[0]=MTP-300-X-1210_A.pdf
    Data Object[1]=MTP-300-X-1240_A.pdf
    I then used the following script to open the file
    this.openDataObject("MTP-300-X-1210_A.pdf");
    Console reports back as follows and does not open the file:
    [object Doc]
    Can anyone please offer assistance in how to open an embedded pdf attachment within a document?
    Many thanks!

    Hi George,
    I have used the same method app.openDoc to open attachments using a path associated with my computer.  However, as you know, the method does not work if the pdf containing the attachment is located on a different computer.  The app.openDoc method throws an error becuase the path is not valid.
    I am trying to get the following code to work with no success:
    var cFilePath = "|" + this.path + "|U:photo.pdf"';   // photo.pdf is the attachment
    app.openDoc ({cPath: cFilePath});
    The debugger throws an error.
    However, if I take the content of the variable cFilepath and instert it as an argument within cPath parameter as a string literal, the app.openDoc method returns the docObject.
    What's going on here?  shouldn't the variable cFilePath work?  Or do I need to specify a data type for the variable?  Any thoughts would be helpful.  I am using Windows 7, Adobe Acrobat X Standard.

  • Hyperlinks within .pdf documents not working IMac Safari

    I am working with a website that displays several .pdf documents. The documents contain hyperlinks to urls. Everything works fine in other browsers, but in Safari, these hyperlinks do not work. The cursor does not change when it enters the hyperlink space, and nothing happens if the link is clicked. I am using an IMac running OS 10.6. 8 and Safari 5.1.10. I have tried both the native (Preview) option and a plug-in. Neither makes any difference. Can anyone suggest a fix other than abandoning Safari?

    I am a new user to OnLINE Adobe. My hyperlinks from Word
    documents do not transfer to the PDF files. Please help!!!

  • How to create customer specific fields within PC 10.0?

    Hello,
    for previous Process Controls versions 2.5 and 3.0 it was available two how-to guides to create customer specific fields. Nevertheless so far I couldn't find those versions for PC10.0.
    Does anyone have them? Or know if the 3.0 version is also valid for 10.0?
    Regards
    Andre Yuji

    Dear Johannes,
    We have a few administration transactions that you can use on back-end. For example:GRFN_STR_CHANGE -GRFN_STR_CHANGE-Change Process Control
    as well as RE_RHGRENZ4 to  Set a new end date to the objects.
    At last case, you can run the program RHRHDL00 thru SE38 Tcode.Be carefull because this program delete the object from database.

  • How to create an auto-filled in field within a database ?

    Hello,
    I look for a way to get a database field automatically filled in when adding a new record with a generated value:
    The value of this field should consist of the actual date, a random alphanumerical or numerical string of five digits and some fix characters.
    For example: 20060618-19771-test
    "20060618" is the actual date in the format YYYYMMDD.
    "19771" is the randomly generated numerical string (alternatively alphanumerical).
    The two "-" and the string "test" are fix.
    Does anyone have an idea how to realize this ?
    Thank you for all your assistance.
    With kind regards,
    Tobias Eichner.

    Hi Tobias,
    A much more useful post than the previous one liner.
    The first problem you mention is the most difficult to get around using an entirely AppleWorks solution. AppleWorks does recalculate the whole database whenever a field definition is revised. The result of any calculation depending on the RAND() or NOW() functions Both Gunnar's and Francesco's solutions run into this problem as both use RAND() to generate the random number part of the field's value.
    Yvan tackles this problem by calculating the value outside AppleWorks, using an AppleScript. This looks promising, but on running the script, I've noted a couple of problems (an error message when there's a single record in the DB; non-filling of the 'autofilled' field), and will drop a note to Yvan about these.
    The most interesting (because easiest to implement)
    one unfortunately depends upon the date formatting
    set in the software which is different from the
    desired field value.
    My assumption here is that you're referring to Francesco's solution. The formatting problem (order of yyyymmdd and removal of the separators) is addressed in Gunnar's solution (which is essentially the same as Francesco's). See below for some revisions to address the recalculation problem.
    And the first solution appears a bit too complicated
    for me (sorry, I'm not a programmer, I tried to copy
    it but failed).
    The AppleScript solution is difficult to generate, but once written (by Yvan and/or others—you'll have only minor editing to do) and saved (by you) is simple to use (requires only selecting a menu item to create a new record with the field already filled).
    If you can assist me, please let me know. Otherwise
    don't mind, either I have to switch to a different
    product (AW appears outdated in many ways) or
    generate these field values manually as I currently
    do (simplest solution but works
    Switching to a different product is certainly a possibility, and it's true that AppleWorks is old software and that it is unlikely to ever be updated in future.
    Revisions to Gunnar and Francesco's solutions:
    As mentioned previously, the primary problem with these was instability of the value due to recalculation of the RAND() value in the formula. In the revised version below, a pseudo-random value is obtained by converting the time-of-day when the record was created to a text string, then selecting the final five characters in that string.
    YEAR('Date')&RIGHT("00"&MONTH('Date'),2)&DAY('Date')&"-"&RIGHT('Time',5)&"-test"
    The solution requires creation of two additional fields:
    'Date' Type: Date, Options: "Insert current Date"
    'Time' Type: Time, Options: "Insert current Time"
    (The first is the same as Gunnar's 'helpfield1'.) Neither field has to be included in any layout; they exist only to provide data for the 'Autofill' field.
    Advantages:
    •The Date and Time fields are stable; once filled their values will not change. Consequently, the calculations depending (only) on the values in these fields will also be stable.
    Disadvantages:
    •The value in 'Time' is the fraction of the current day that has passed when the field is created. At certain specific times of day, this fraction, expressed as a decimal, will have fewer that 5 digits after the decimal (Example: at exactly 12:00 noon, the fraction is 0.5). That may lead to an error or to the center portion of the 'Autofill' data taking the form "-.5075-".
    This will likely be a minor annoyance. Such a record may simply be deleted before entering any other data, and a new record created. Or the formula could be revised to strip the intial two characters ("0.") from the string, append the remainder to a string of five zeros, then take the final five characters of the result.
    •The formula should be fine for NEW records. But for records already in existence when the formula and the two supporting fields are created, the Date and Time will be the date and time of creation of those fields. That will lead to a distinct lack of 'randomness' in the 'random' number part of the fields' value.
    The solution, if necessary, is to add an IF() function to the formula that copies the value from the existing field if that field has been filled in, and generates the value if the existing field is empty (as it would be for a new record). The existing field should be removed from all layouts to prevent its being filled in new records, but should NOT be deleted from the DB in order to preserve existing data.
    Revised formula (has not been tested) ('oldfield' is the field that holds the data in existing records):
    IF(LEN('oldfield')>0,'oldfield',YEAR('Date')&RIGHT("00"&MONTH('Date'),2)&DAY('Da te')&"-"&RIGHT('Time',5)&"-test")

  • I filled in a Word pdf document, sent it to a client who uses Word in Windows 7 and the form appears blank when they open it. They can read the form, but nothing that I filled in. Help!

    I was sent a lengthy pdf form that required me to enter data onto it. The sentences appeared compressed on my screen, but I could see everything that I entered. Next emailed it to my boss and when he opened it on his Windows 7 with Word, all of the data that I had entered appeared lost. It was as if I hadn't entered anything on the form. So I asked him to send it back to me. He did and when I opened it on my Mac Book Air, all of the information that I had filled in was there on my screen.
    This went back and forth a few times, but the result was always the same. I have been requested to complete the form on a Windows based computer, which will take me hours. Any ideas what causes this problem and how to fix it?

    What has this to do with Pages? You probably did this in Preview.
