Create production version

Hi,
we use ECC 5.0 and APO 4.1. For APO we need production versions. My problem is to create or change the production versions of a material, every time the appropriate routing or BOM is created or changed in ECC.
There no suitable userexit in routing. Somebody told me to do with events and workflow. Can anybody tell me, how to do this on events routing-create/routing change and bom-create/bom-change.
regards Joerg

Function module CM_FV_PROD_VERS_MAINTAIN is used by transaction C223 to create/change production versions in dialog mode.  Are you looking for a function module or BAPI that will allow you to create/change production versions without screen dialog?  If so, I don't believe there is such a BAPI.  I thought maybe BAPI_PO_CHANGE might be useful, but according to <a href="https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=012003146900000252192005">Note 828538</a>, "For technical reasons, you cannot transfer the production version to the BAPI. However, as of SAP Release mySAP ERP 2005, you can influence the BOM components using the BAPI (complete recreation of the BOM or merging of the BOM components)."

  • Function Modules for creating production version.

    Hi,
Is there any function module available in SAP to create Production version?
I'm aware of CM_FV_PROD_VERS_MAINTAIN function module but this one works on dialog mode.
Please let me know if there are any other function module/class available to create production version.
    Many Thanks!

  • How to create production version & Explain with procedure

how to create production version & Explain with procedure
    Madan

    Hi Madan,
Production Versions are used to describe the production process to be used for planned / production order.
    Why is it required?
Suppose you have 2/3 production lines and 2/3 alternative BOMs to produce one Finished Goods.
How system will come to know which BOM and Routing to be used. This is done thru Prod.Version.
In production version we maintain the combination of BOM and routing.
Also it can be designed with lot size or validity period.
Go to MM02--->MRP4 / Work scheduling view -
    > Prod.Version.
Enter the validity period and lot size. and the production version should be unlocked.
After entering the reqd. routing no. and BOM alternative , carry a check.
After getting the Green signals ,Continue.
Thus you have saved the prod. version.
    Mass processing TCode- C223.
Hope it would clarify you the basic of production version.

  • How to create production version for multiple BOM & Routing ?

    If I have 3 BOMs ( A, B & C ) and 2 Routing ( 1 & 2 ) for material XYZ then how then production version will be created ? I feel that there will be 6 PVs.
    combination of A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 & C2. but some one told me that  I have to create duplicate routing of 1 & 2
with number 3 & 4 and use it for bom B, and another duplicate Routing with number 5&6 and use it for BOM C.
in this case my PV data will be like this A1, A2, B3, B4, C5, C6.
Please guide me which way is correct. I feel that the first way is right, because in that case I have 2 routing in system, and in second way I have total 6 routings for that product. please guide me.

    Hi Archana
If you are doing component allocation with routing ,
routing for material 1  counter 1 you are choosing alternate Bom  1 or 2 for material.
similarly for Material 1 counter 2 you are choosing alternate Bom 1 0r 2 according to your choice
like this   3 routing groups will get created with each have 2 counters
if you allocate similar kind of material in one group in material allocation tab & you are going for component allocation it will assign one material bom.
second material bom will not get assigned to the operation.
if you are not going assign the component at the routing level than you can follow first process.
if you are planning to allocate components at routing level than you have to follow second process.
If have any more doubt kindly revert back with your query.

  • Is it Necessary to create production version if  using master recipe

    our industry Process industry
we are using Master recipe for Production
is it necessary to create production version

    Hi Krishna,
Production version is essential to mantain if you have a PP-PI industry scenario.
However, if you have not mantained it, you can still create a process order. Process order first searches for the production version (automatically/ manually) depending on the configuration settings.
If you have not mantained it, system would throw a SAP standard information message, "Material XXXXX: Production Version not mantained".
If system is not able to select valid master recipe / version.  it would look for default values for operation in the master recipe settings and would try to create a operation.

Method for Selecting Alternative Bills of Material
Indicator determining the selection of the alternative BOM when requirements are exploded in material requirements planning.
    Use
With Selection by order quantity, the system chooses the alternative BOM into whose lot size range the order quantity falls. The lot size range and area of validity of the BOM apply.
With Selection by explosion date, the system chooses the alternative BOM into whose area of validity the date falls according to the setting BOM via dates.
With Selection by production version, the system chooses the alternative BOM defined in the valid production version. The lot size range and area of validity of the production version apply.
With Selection only by production version, the system chooses the alternative BOM defined in the valid production version. The lot size range and area of validity of the production version apply.
If no production version is found, no production orders or process orders can be created.

  • MRP Run with production version.

    Hi Experts;
I am working as a member of a SAP implementation supporting team. The client wants to run MRP with alternative BOM, not with the 1st BOM. As a solution for the requirement i created production versions and assigned to MD61 schedule line tab. It is working properly.
But the user maintain some quantity as a safety stock for finished materials also. To cover the safety stock requirement, system create planned orders with the 1st BOM, not the production version.Already i have maintained the selection method "3" in material master.
Is it possible to cover safety stock with alternative BOM.
    Please help..
    Thanks,
    Malka

    Hello Malka,
    For your issue,,
As per other expert suggested you can block the first production version but if in future you want use first production then,,
In these case you maintain production version in many way
    Ex.
    1.  Lot size .(if production version using for specific lot)
Maintain the Lot for both production version, so Production version 1 lot completed system take       second production version.
    2. Production version validity date (If production version using for specific period )
In this case after completion of 1. Production version period system take second one
    3. Manually selection of production version (If multiple production version and all have same condition)
Whenever you convert the planned order to production order, one pop up come and ask for                manually selection for Production version, for this you go to OPL8 and select the Manually                production version
I hope this information cover your all requirement, No need to go with quota arrangement
Still you want know about the Quota arrangement, Please create new thread so other expert also provide their view

  • Production version problem

    Hi friends
when i have created production version for one material i got the error. pleas efind the error below.
    inconsistencies for production version.
when i checked the production version for that material systm shows the green light for bom and red light for routing. but system shows bom exists and task list exists. onle problem is inconsistencies for production version.
please help me any missing from my side
    Thanks
    venkat

    Hi
    1. Check the valid from date for Routing and the Valid from date that you entered in the production version  ( MM02/ MRP4 VIEW ) is same
The vaild  from date should be same for Routing and the PV valid from date (Mentioned in PV BASIC DATA)
Suppose the valid start date of the Routing is later than tha Date that you given in the production version basic date, then the inconsistence error will come . it give the red light to Routing
    ie.
Routing valid from date : 06..06.2009
PV vaild from date        : 01.06.2009
So for the date 01.06.2009 - 05.06.2009 , ysytem say that no Routing exist.inconsistence in pv.

  • PRODUCTION VERSION

When i am creating process order for a material it is showing a message that
'Production version is not maintained'.What should be done to solve this problem. Please guide me on this.It is urgent.

    Hi,
Go to MRP 4 view, select Production Version.
Give the name for the version, say 0001,
By default it is valid from today's day to 31.12.9999.
    Again click on this version,
select the necessary BOM (in Bill of materials Tab) and routing (in planning data tab) .
Check it and if ok, you will get check start in Green.
Or else use T.Code C223, to create production version for the material.
    Hope it is clear.

  • How to maintain production version for material and how it will work

    Dear Friends,
i  have created alternative bom for a material , My FG is having two  RM1 and RM2. like below,
                    FG --->RM1
                    FG---->RM2
i created alternative BOM. how it will fetch raw materils from BOM while doing production confimation.  what is meant by production  version and how to configure that. how it will work
    regards
    RK

    Dear Raja karthik,
1.Production version is a combination of BOM & Routing in Discrete scenario & in REM scenario its a
combination of BOM & Rate routing/Routing.The same can also be created only containing the BOM incase if it is going to be
used for a sub-contracting purchase info record.
2.Production version is a method or technique which's is used to produce a material.
3.A Material may be having one or more than one production version.
4.Production version can be differentiated by using either the validity date or Lot size range.
    5.Say For Eg: Prod.Version1 --> Alt BOM1 & Routing1
    Prod.Version2---> Alt BOM2 & Routing 1.
6.It has the status Locked and unlock. We can lock it when it is to blocked for any usage purpose.
6.Generally its created using T code MM02,by selecting MRP4 view and clicking on Production version key.
7.It's a master data in REM scenario.
8.Production versions can also be created using T code C223 for more than one material.
9.Planned independent requirements can be created production version specific in MD61.

  • Production version selection in MRP run

    Hi all
here my requirment is to select the Alternative BOM in MRP run.
i have three alternative BOMs. and two routings. to make different combinations i was created Production version. so now my requirment was while run MRP how to choose production version manually. i was mantained MRP 4 screen for selection method as 3.
my All BOM validity dates r same and same lot size.
can any one suggest me how to choose production version manually in MRP run. otherwise system by default it choosing 1st alternative.
    Regards
    Deviprasad

    Hi All,
Thanks for all your suggestions. here my requirment was not matching with these.
    my req was
    1. want to select prod version while run MRP.
    2. my demand was MTS.
    3. i already marked in MRP 4 Screen as selection method as 3.
    Constrains
my BOM validity dates r same.
    lot sizes r same.
i am giving hints for this.
In Customization - BOM selection ID, Selection priority and BOM usage, Alternative selection of BOM in MRP.
i was tried to mantain this. still system picks the default as first production version.
can u try for this. how we can configure in SAP.
    example.
i have one material as M-20. it has differnt grads of mixing as R1,R2,R3 alternative BOMs. all alternatives have same materials with differnt Compositions. i want to choose one alternative while run MRP. But system by default picking first alternative BOM.

  • Use of production versions

    Dear Masters,
I have two BOM's for one material.I have created production versions for the same.
1.I want to create two production orders using two BOM's? How to create ?
Also how we can use the production versions at the time of creting production orders using MD02 & MD04?We have Make To Stock strategy.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ram Kulkarni

    Hi Ram,
if u create production order by manullay, u can select production version manuulay by doing following settings.
    1. Goto OPL8 define production selection = Manual selection for your ordre type/plant combination
    2. Define Bom selection  method =   2 or 3  by production version.
while creating production order(Co01) system will ask u to select production version
    For MRP run,
system always select first  valid production version by default. Here u can define lotsize to select production version. And another way is u can define Quta arragement inthat u can define percentage quota for each production version.
while creating production order from planned order (MD04) system will copy the production version from the planned order.
    regards

  • Difference between production version and routing

    hello pp experts,
why do we create production version, and what's the difference between production version and routing?

    Dear sarfaraz lodhi ,
Production version is a combination of BOM & Routing in the case of Discrete Manufacturing and it's a
combination of BOM & Rotuing/Rate Routing in the case of Repetitive Manufacturing.
Created either through MM02 by selecting MRP4 view or else through C223
A production version determines the various production techniques that can be used to produce a material.
    It defines the following information:
    ·        Alternative BOM for a BOM explosion
    ·        Task list type, task list group, and group counter for assignment to task lists
    ·        Lot-size restrictions and period of validity
A material can have one or more production versions.
Routing contains the set of operation that's required for producing a product either a HALB - Semi-
Finished product or else a FERT - Finished Product.
The T code for creating Routing is CA01.

  • Reg. Production Version Check Status

    Dear All,
Is that necessary to check all created production version by clicking on CHECK button in production version details in MRP-4.
I have created production version, in C223 it is showing Green light in test status field, but in table MAPL field Check Status is blank.
Does it create any problem ?
    Regards,
    Archana.

    Hello Archana,
    1. "is it necessary to always check status ?"
not necessary but whenever new creation/changes of master data,it must be done.
    2. "MKAL status is blank" and "because in C223 it is indicating GREEN button in those production version records."
Both not possible together. If its showing green than MKAL status can not be blank.
    3. "We have uploaded PV records, but not doing CHECKING procedure. I think, that is why status in MKAL is blank."
    yes
    4. "Does it create any problem in a future."
no,but better you check  all scenario(standard/custom) of your company.Without performing check either in c223 or in material master, green light wont flash.Hope its clear.
Note:Whats the big deal if you do the check now?

    Hi all,
Am using BD10 to transfer the material from sending to receving system. All the views are geting sent successfuly accept the production version tab data of MRP4 view. The segment is available in the standard IDOC.But prodction TAB  is not getting created at receving system .Please help to resolve this issue.
    Thank you.

    Hi Sanu,
    BD10 Send Material..
the reason might be Production tab is not created is the segment is not a mandatory..
and the data is not populating for that fields.
if the segment is not madatorty and data is not available for the fields in the segment ..the prodction TAB  will not be created ..
