Creative Zen M Problem - Please he

I've been using my Creative Zen M since its release without any problems at all. I typically use it on long airline flights and not every day. The last time I used it, 2 weeks ago, it worked perfectly fine. Then yesterday, I flew to Tokyo and started up the player as usual. The familiar Creative logo and Zen logo appeared - and then, nothing! The screen went black but was still on, and the unit's power was on and could not be turned off. I tried resetting several times but that only started the same cycle again. When I got to my hotel in Tokyo, I tried charging it to see if that was the problem, but nope - it still repeats the same behavior. Any ideas on what happened here? Anyway to fix it before my return flight on the 29th? Thank you!

You could try rebuilding - with the Zen turned on, press the reset button (at the bottom next to data connector) with something like a straightened out paper clip. This will make the Zen reread all the tracks and rebuild it's database. It'll take a few minutes. If that doesn't work, try a full reset - see http://forums.creative.com/creativel...p&message.id=3?Try "reboot" first, then "clean up". Good luck!?Jim

/Creative ZEN MX problems with charging batteryHi!
I've bought Creative Zen MX player a couple months ago. First thing I noticed when I plug in it into my computer was that battery after 3 hours was not full, what is more computer disconnected with it couple times;/
After weeks or two when I tried to charge it i Went where I bought it and they said after some examination that it really didn't work
They've sent it to the service. I had t wait for the return two months!!! and at the end they said that that tiny usb wire was damaged not mp3.
OK . The battery was fully charged maybe on 5 attempts ;/
There is no problem in my computer because I tried it on several other and it did not work ;/ ?Please, help me
    Where is the problem?
?Why this player simply disconnect with my PC?

I was given this as a gift. I charged it for 8hrs when i got it and it showed fully charged. I have been trying to give it a full charge over the last 2 days once on a power adapter plugged into the wall the other through the USB port on my laptop .each for about 8hrs each. Using different cables. I remove the player and it shows full battery (never gives the plug icon though)and within 30 minutes of play music, I get the low battery warning. it was purchased on 0/6/200. nAlso it will not power on while charging. My original ZEN was able to play music when charging this one says DOCKED and will not repond to the power button being presses.

  • Creative Zen Touch Problem Can Anyone H

Hi Community Can anyone help me with a problem. I have a Zen Touch MP3 20gig PlayerI have currently Upgraded from Windows Xp32 to Vista 32 Blaa Blaa Blaa I have done a little research with regards to upgrading the player for use with Vista and I was advised that you need to upgrade the firmware to plays for sure version ZenTouchP4S_PCFW_LB_2__0_0 half way through the flash procedure the software just hung there for an eternity and crashed for no aparent reason and I was wondering hoping is there any way of getting this player sorted without having to send it back to creative for maintenance Please advise Many Thanks Andy

Hello there friend With regards to the problem we are both having I am sorry to say that because Firmwares are ver sensiti've when the application crashed during the update it has corrupted the firmware chip and the only thing we can do is to send it back to Creative for repair which will cost or speak to the people there and they will offer you an upgrade. they tried to sell me a Creative Zen Vision M at a reduced price get this 70 and the answer is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.Even the Zen M needs a firmware update to work on Vista so I would advise to look around and get something like a Sony MP3 Player Sony have created a list of Players they make which are compatible with Vista and Im in the process of buying one and its an A3000 30Gig If you wish I would send you a direct link to this list if thats the way to go.Luckily I have an old MP3 player a Sony NWE 99 and its a real good player even though its only gig and its a few years old shock horror that cost me back then around 260 lol but its quality Sanchin Good luck

  • Creative zen touch problem - mediasource says it's emp

i've had my creative zen touch for more than a year and a half and used it every day with it working fine. a couple of weeks ago mediasource loaded it as empty on my pc. however all my music is still on it and i can play directly from the player but not through my computer. i've tried opening the player through other programs but this doesn't work either. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of the creative software that came on the cd with it (mediasource, nomad explorer etc.) but it hasn't worked. does anybody know why this is and how i can fix the problem it's a bit annoying because i can't put any new music on it. thanks very much in advance. jonny.

  • Creative zen 4g problems with song/artist ***

    hey all--
i'm mostly very happy with my new 4g creative zen, to which I upgraded from my old g zen nano that I love. my only problem is that many, many files i try to transfer to it (i've used both the zen organizer software as well as the windows explorer drag-and-drop method) come up all strange. for instance, songs by artist A will show up in? artist B's folder, with artist B's song names as titles for artist A's songs.
now, granted, i have been ripping music onto my hard dri've for years, and many of the original discs i ripped may have been burned copies. plus, many of the discs may be pre-AAC encoding.
Also, as I said, once the songs are on my Zen, they appear in these weird places and under the wrong names, but when I look at them through the Zen software on my computer, they appear correctly.
so (i may be kind of answering my own question here) is AAC encoding the problem? and if so, is there a conversion tool allowing me to convert the files i already have to AAC?
another thought: if this has to do with IDE-3 tags, what can I do to rename the songs so they will come up correctly?
Thanks for whatever you can do.

  • MTP driver issues with Creative Zen X-Fi. PLEASE HELP ME!

Hi! I bought yesterday Creative Zen X-Fi. When I got home and charged batteries of this player I was willing to put some music in it. First I installed all programs wich I got with the package and after that I turned my brand new mp3 player on, Windows gave me message about new MTP device connected to the computer. Then I just installed device automaticly. Windows gave me an error message "Device might not work right" or something like that. I have windows xp sp3 and I have already installet mediaplayer . Could somebody please give me some advice I would appreciate it very much.

Unfortunately (for your intended usage case) importing the music copies it from the card to the player.

  • Buying a creative ZEn Vision M Please help !

    Hi there
I am debating on buying a creative zen Vision M after two years of i pod problems. My issue is can u convert the music from the i tunes libary to the player? or will u lose all that music
    Thanks

--- If you have purchased the music from the iTunes Music Store, you will not be able to use the music on the player - iTMS music is iPod only.
There is a workaround (but it might not be legal, if you like to stay that way) - burn the music to a CD, then re-rip it in MP3 format using your favourite ripper. (iTunes will rip to MP3 - the option is under the 'Importing' tab on 'Advanced'.)
--- If your music is in AAC format, you can use a converter to change them into MP3. Be advised that this causes a major loss in quality - and if you own the CDs, you'll be better to re-rip them from scratch to ensure that they sound good.
You can do this conversion in iTunes - simply make sure that the format in the Advanced/Importing settings is set to MP3 (92kbps is fine for conversion). You can open the Settings window by clicking 'Preferences' in the Edit menu.
--- If your music is in MP3 format, you don't have to do anything! The ZV:M will play it nati'vely.Message Edited by Lokiz0r on 07--2006 09:8 AM

  • Creative Zen Micro problem! PLEASE HELP

    can anyone help me please?
I am on my 3rd replacement for my Zen Micro. I have had problems with switching my Zen on and for it to even attempt to function properly. I turn on my Zen and once the screen turns back to the song that i was playing when i previously turned it off, it plays about 2 seconds of the song and then releases an unpleasant high pitched drone in my ears. This happens 9 times out of 0 whenever i switch on my Zen.
I am doing nothing different whatsoever, other than listening to it throughout the day. It still has 4GB left! I really am very upset about it all.
This is now getting ridiculous. I have rebooted it, uploaded firmware, formatted my Zen and wiped it then put all of the music back on, "cleaned it up" and still i have problems. I am VERY angry, frustrated and completely disappointed in this product. I have never found so many problems with a product!
Please let me know what can be done.
I have emailed Creative Support 4 times in the past week and i have had nothing in return. I need a new player as i use it every day. I cant get a refund (i dont think) because it was a gift and my dad bought it online. I just want a working Creative mp3 player.
    Thanks!

It sounds like you've tried everything as far as troubleshooting goes (updating firmware, the options in Recovery Mode). Unfortunately it does look like there is a problem with your player then.
You didn't mention when you originally got the player (the first one, or your last replacement), but in any case it would be best to speak to Customer Support and outline the problems you've been having, and let them know you're not happy, to see what they can do for you.
Regarding e-mail, did you get an auto response back? If not, check your spam filter (if you have one), as you will always get an auto response back when you e-mail us or use the webform. • Zen Micro problem, please help

I changed my Zen Micro's firmware to "PlaysForSure", but then I wanted to get back the original firmware.
So I used the "Recovery mode" to erase PlaysForSure firmware (v. 2.2.02) and then tried to load the original firmware (v. ..0).
Then my problems begun: firmware updater says "Your player is not connected, please connect your player.", altough my player is correctly connected and the drivers and other Creative's stuff are installed.
Computer (WinXP) ofcourse detects the player (as a PlaysForSure device).
I also tried to load the PlayesForSure firmware again, but it didn't work either.
So, what can I do to fix my Zen Micro's firmware?
Does the warranty cover this kind of things?
I would be very pleased if someone knows what to do, because my player really doesn't work now at all.

Okey, now I have uninstalled WMP and WMP Runtime Format, and installed WMP 0 again, but still firmware updater doesn't find my player connected. The player appears in the device manager as a "Portable media player", not under USB devices as when it was running with firmware ..0. If I try to uninstal the drivers, driver uninstaller totally freezes, and I think that all USB devices freeze too. So what can I do now?
    pie wrote:
how do you install wmp0, i tried but it wont let me because its an older version
Open add/remove programs, click "show updates", scroll to windows updates, uninstall WMP and then WMP Runtime Format (after every uninstall you will have to restart your computer). Then download WMP 0 from http://www.microsoft.com and install it.

  • Zen V problems - please advi

    Hi there,
I recently purchased a zen V (4Gb) from Amazon, successfully charged the battery, installed the software and managed to transfer some music to it. While transferring some other music, the player froze in transfer mode and kept affecting the computer. I had to switch the computer off in order to unplug the player from the USB port, now my player does not switched on at all and when i try to plug the USB cable the computer does not recognise it and there's no reponse! I'm really frustrated and cross about this as I have just received this player and cannot fathom what I should do. I tried to contact support via the creative website but its very unfriendly and unhelpful! I just want to talk to a person and the phone number for Europe does not seem to work arrrggggh! I had high hopes for this player and am truly disappointed....please can anyone help?

Hello, I am also having problems with mine. I did the?update?from .2 to 2.0 yesterday and my player was fine but when I started listening to my music, it stopped playing and won't turn on again and the battery was fully charged. When I got to my boyfriends house, I hooked it to my laptop and nothing happened. What has happened to my Zen V plus player?

  • Zen micro problem please help..it seems to have wiped the libra

I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer with this problem as I have no idea what to do and fear I may have lost all the music I've collected over the past few years as none of it is backed up on my computer...My zen was working fine yesterday but then all of a sudden it froze, I couldn't get anything on it to work so I removed the battery as I have done before, it went on to 'rebuilding library'?but after a few seconds said 'Select music to play from the library' and there was NOTHING on there. No songs, no artists, nothing. It still says the space is being used up and there is only a few MB left but it's saying there's no songs on it. I tried accessing them through the computer but that wouldn't work either. PLEASE does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe you could try running Disk Clean Up from the Recovery Mode
Remove Zen Micro's back plate and battery
Hold the On switch to On (fully to the left) and hold it there as you replace the battery
Select Disk Clean Up and Yes from the menu, it's at the top of the list
It will take a moment or 2 to complete Disk Clean Up, allow it to finish
Once Disk Clean Up is complete, select Reboot at the bottom of the list
You should see a Re-building Library notice once it reboots and hopefully your music will be accessible again
Clean Up will re-set your Zen Micro to its factory default settings, so you will have to redo any special settings that you had
    Best of luck!
/with today's huge hard dri'ves, why don't people back their music up :|
