CRM Mobile - installations with MI 7.0

Hello Experts,
I have a clarification, we have Mobile Infrastructure 7.0 in our landscape. We would also like to use CRM Mobile.
Do we need a separate Windows Sever and Communication station ?
Thanks in advance
Points will be awarded.

Hi,
as MI (or MAM/MAU) and CRM Mobile Laptop applications like MSA or MSV are based on a totally different landscape it doesn't matter whether you are already using MI.
The comm station is used to convert RFC calls (from/to CRM) to COM/DCOM calls for connection from/to the Mobile clients.
In other words the Mobile clients only know the IP address of the comm station, where the RFC destination of the CRM system (including user/pwd) is maintained.
The MRS (Mobile Repository Server) stores the MSSQL database ARS_DB (MAR = Mobile Application Repository)
which contains the VB code and design time data of the application. Using the MAS (Dot.net Studio in 5.0) connected to MRS by ODBC you might change/enhance and generate/build the modified application.
If you don't want to enhance the standard app you don't need MRS/MAS but it is needed to apply code corrections.

  • CRM Mobile installation

    Hi.
I am wondering if I can install and run CRM 5.0 on the same server as the Mobile Repository Server and the Communication Station? I need to define the landscape for the development, test and production system.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
    Best Regards,
    Thomas

    Hi again,
here some more (subjective) proposals regarding the landscape:
    1) installing of Dev and QA MRS on same machine would mean that at least one of the related repository database ARS_DB needs to be renamed after installation to be able to perform the second installation; also running 2 TO services could lead to problems so this shouldn't be considered at all
    2) installing of Dev and QA MDW on same machine would mean that at least one uses a not standard generation path as mentioned above; also in case of an upgrade you would have problems with different versions of the DLLs
    3) using a common comm station for Dev and QA (or even Prod) is possible. For this you need to specify different destinations (and also define this in the particular client machine registries)
    4) Depending of the project volume (involved persons) it would make sense to use only one Dev. Station (= MDW in Dev System) which could be installed on MRS locally. So in case of an unstable/slow network you wouldn't have performance issues concerning a full generation.
    5) If you don't want to use the complete landscape (in case of limited ressources/persons) you also could prepare the Mobile upgrade packages for the QA or Prod Clients using the Dev MDW so a minimum landscape doesn't have a QA and Prod MRS/MDW at all. However then you have to think about how to handle emergency cases when you have to prepare an urgent fix while already developing new functionalities within the Dev MDW.
In other words the size of the landscape is also depending from the way the complete Mobile project is handled and staffed.

  • CRM 2007 with CRM Mobile Infrastructure

We are building a Prototype (Non Production) CRM 2007 with CRM Mobile Infrastructure as an internal project.
Question 1: I wanted to ask, as it is stated that Commstation cannot run on64 Bit Hardware/64 Bit OS hardware and it is not supported by SAP. I was checking the CRM Mobile Installation Guide
    https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700002090432006E/
and wanted to confirm if there is a possibility of us using one server instance to install the Mobile Repository Server, Mobile Development Workstation, Communication Station (CommStation) all
    in one box??
Q2: Secondly, if we were only using mobile infrastructure for CRM scenarios Field Account and Contact Management, Field OpportunityManagement,
and possibly Quotation Management (not the Order Management) will we still need to install a Workgroup Server/Workgroup Client??
Is it also possible to install Mobile Repository Server, Mobile Development Workstation, Communication Station (CommStation) on the actual CRM 2007 server we currently have??
Q3: Can we realize the CRM Mobile scenarios with just three servers?
1 CRM 2007 Server (existing server already deployed with CRM 2007)
    1 SAP CRM Mobile Server
    1 CommStation Server
Q4: Can we realize these CRM Mobile scenarios Field Account and Contact Management, Field OpportunityManagement, and possibly Quotation Management (not the Order Management), by simply installing Usage Type MI on our CRM 2007 (existing) Server?
    Thanks.
    James

    Hi James,
It is possible to install Comm Station\Repository and MDW on the one machine.
The repository server contains only the db and some tools
    But not recommended by SAP.
The prerequisites are that the Development Workstation is installed on a separate machine from teh repository server.
But as you can see in the installation guide, it is possible to install a local repository.
However its recommended to have one central repository and have a dev workstation connect to it.
If you have several developers accessing the same central machine, it would cause problems. Its recommended to have the MAS application
installed on their local machine connecting to the repository.
I would also keep the mobile scenario separate from CRM Online. As you have stated below, the 3 servers would be enough.
You dont need to have the Workgroup for the CRM scenarios you have mentioned.

  • CRM Mobile Client Installation on MSDE Problem

    Hi All,
We have installed CRM Mobile 4.0 SP06 on MSDE.
When i try to assign a site through the Client Console, i get the following error.
<b>Error:</b> Login information for IDES database not found.
    <b>Source:</b> Check Site details
<b>Reason:</b> [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'ides'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
    <b>Suggestions:</b>
    Check if MSA is installed.
    Check Transaction Layer registry entries.
Check if ODBC settings for IDES is proper.Test Data Source.
Check user and password used in IDES is same as in registry entries.
Check if user database(IDES) password is valid in the registry.
Pl let me know what is wrong.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Yatin

In Start --> Run, write odbcad32. This will bring up odbc connection details. Go to System DSN tab. You should see an entry for IDES.
If you don't, installation was not complete.
If you see the entry, double-click it. Press NEXT on first screen. On second screen, select second option (logon with SQL server authentication), put username & password as ides & ides. Then press NEXT. Press NEXT on third screen as well. On fourth screen press FINISH. This will bring you to fifth screen. Press Test Data Source button. If IDES database is installed properly, you should receive a message - TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.
    Hope this helps.

  • CRM Mobile Client Installation on 64 Bit Hardware/64 Bit OS..

I have a question related to Mobile Client components installation.
    1) When we were trying to insall the communication station at our client system which are on 64 bit OS on Xeon 64 bit Hardware, we  were facing a lot of issues in connecting to the CRM Server,,,When checked for the SAP note we found through one as 64 bit Xeon processor is not supported for the installation of Communication Station,, We tried installing the Comm Station in our local landsacpe and went on successfully done...
Now my question is : Does VMWare/64 bit Hardware supports the Mobile Client Components installation or not?
    2) We are facing a prob when trying to install the Mobile Development Workstation: The issue is the installation option of selecting the MDW is greyed out and at the bottom it says that pre-requisites should be fulfilled wherein we have taken enough care in meeting them...
Please let us know how to proceed with the installation...
Please do send the documents if any on CRM Mobile Client Components..as we need to deliver to the client on priority basis...
    Thanks in Advance:
    Raghunandan

    Hi Raghunandan,
In reply to your first query regarding supportability of Supportability of Commstation on Intel xeon 64 Bit processor.
This is not supported by SAP. Refer to Note 1131463.
There were some compatibility issues with this last year. Decision was it will not be supported.
For the MDW install problem, this only occurs when the prerequisites are not correct. Check through the install guide again. Check there are no conflicting versions of JRE for example. Probably best to install this on a clean machine.

  • CRM Mobile 7.0 Installation will abort

    Hello everybody,
I want to install SAP CRM Mobile 7.0 on W2K3 x64 and MSSQL 2005.
On the Server "SAP CRM 7.0 Support Release 1" with AS ABAP & AS Java is installed.
When I click on "start.exe" the folowing messeage appears.
"Registry is not proper state. HKLM\SOFTWARE\SAP\MSA\Setup is missing. Installation will abort!"
Can anybody please help me ?
    Best regards
    Alex

You need to refer to material 51041253 for a 64 bit client. I think the MDW still needs to be on 32 bit. Your basis team should be able to help you to locate the material or you can dig in on service market place. I dont have the correct path handy.
    I hope this helps.

  • Upgrade - Installation CRM 7.0 with W2K3 and J2EE AddIn

    Hi all,
Because of the end of maintance I have to upgrade CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0.
During the upgrade phase Iu2019ve detected changes within the CRM System installation and architecture.
First thing I discover was that itu2019s not possible to install CRM 7.0 with the W2K3 64bit OS.
You have to install the system with Windows 2008 Standard 64bit Edition.
All our SAP Systems running with W2K3 64bit OS with very good performance and that is why itu2019s our standard OS.
The different between W2K3 and W2K8 is enormous. (Everyone who changed from WinXP to Win Vista knows what I mean.)
Even the change of the SAP Kernel causes yet unknown problems
But I thought so what, thatu2019s IT and upgraded the ABAP stack to 7.0
The upgrade was fine and finished.
After that I would like to install the missing J2EE Components and TREX.
But the next catch Iu2019ve discovered was that it isnu2019t possible to install the J2EE Engine as an AddIn Installation into the upgraded ABAP Engine.
    Wow, thatu2019s a thing!!!!
Our company IT strategy is System consolidating and now I should make 9 out-of 3 systems.
    (DEV-QS-PROD Landscape)
Not to mention the administrative complexityu2026.
Now Iu2019m searching for solutions to avoiding this problems.
For the J2EE AddIn installation I want to try a intermediate upgrade to a former CRM Release where a AdIn Inst is possible (e.g. CRM 5.0 or something) and than upgrade to CRM 7.0
But whatu2019s about the prescribed OS W2K8?
As far as I know there is no SAPinst for a CRM 7.0 Upgrade/Installation under W2K3.
Ok, for a company with a huge webshop it makes sense, but our webshop isnu2019t so big that there could be same performance problems.
As noted before, all our SAP Systems running with a W2K3 64bit OS and we donu2019t have performance problems.
Does anyone have an idea how I can solve my CRM 7.0 Inst/Upgrade Problems?
    Best regards
    Mario Fischer

    Hi Mario,
We installed CRM 7.0 a couple of months back with DVD- 51035700 (Master) on a Win 2003 server.
NW 7.01 (base for CRM 7.0) is supported on Win 2K3...but PAM does mention 2008 exclusively for CRM 7.0
As far as the Java Add In is concerned, ABAP & JAVA stacks have been seperated in order to simplify things.
The dual stack was difficult to administer & manage; hence, now you need to install 2 different systems & connect them via JCO.
We had a 16 GB server for CRM 7.0, which instead of hosting one "ABAP+JAVA" system, now has 2 systems (a seperate ABAP system & a seperate JAVA one)..n so far we havn't faced any issues as such.
In fact it's a good thing that since the 2 stacks have been seperated, the dependancy factor's been minimized.
    Thanks,
    Have a nice day,
    S

  • Mobile infrastructure Installation with SAP Netweaver Developer Studio

    Hello,
I am new to MI field.
I have installed SAP Netweaver Developer Studio 2.04 and assumed, that the MI Client & Server Components are installed with Netweaver too.
    Is that correct?
The fact is, that the ports 3601 and 4444 are not accessabled as described in the documentation, and that it is not possible to create a project for mobiles in Netweaver Studio.
I tryed to download MDK 2.5 and install mobile infrastructure manually, but after extraction of MDk 2.5-files there is no setup-program or so.
Any hints and tips are very welcome.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Rainhard

    Rainhard,
Where did you get the MI client and Server components?
Are they from the NetWeaver04 installation CD? or do u
just download from the trial version of J2EE Engine 6.40 from SDN?
MDK 2.5 is just a set of documentation of guiding developers how to write mobile apps with MI. The SAP
Netweaver Developer Studio already has the MDK Plug-in
    comes with it.
If you need to create project for mobile app, you can
do the following in the NW Dev. Studio:
    1. Go to File > New > Project...
    2. Select "Mobile Development Kit" on the left pane and then select which types of project you want.
    3. Then, click "Next" to follow the instructions.

  • CRM 5.0 Installation with MS-SQL and windows 2003 server

    Hi,
I have to install CRM 5.0 with MS-SQL 2005 and ECC 6.0 with Oracle 10g and integrate with QAS(Third party tool).
    My question are:
1.Can we install all there application on single server.
    2. what s/w units we have to chose generally and what are standard(ie. EP,TREX etc.....)
3.Can we install the s/w units later after CRM core installation.
I am a BASIS Consulatnt and first time installing the CRM.
    Regards
    Alok

    Hi Alok,
    1. You can install all the applications in one box, But it is not advisable as the performance of all the applications can degrade.
    2. Software units like EP, Trex are installed based on the business needs, requirements...
    3. You can proceed initially with the installation of CRM Core components and later you can install other components/ software units.
    Thanks

  • CRM Mobile 4.0 with CRM 2005

Does anybody knows if you need to upgrade your CRM Mobile solution from 4.0 to 5.0 if you upgrade CRM Server from 4.0 to 5.0. Or is it also possible to work with CRM Mobile 4.0 in combination with CRM Server 5.0.
I have the hunch that we need to, as the CDB is also upgrade, but I need to know for sure.
    TIA,
    Jacques

    Hi Jacques,
When you upgrade the CRM system the corresponding CDB tables are also gets updated, and your mobile application synchronize with the CDB tables So you also need to upgrade the Mobile solutions.
    <b>Reward points if it helps!!</b>

  • Creating Custom Mobile Application with CRM

    Hi ,
After reading some staff about the CRM Mobile client solutions , I have not figure it out weather I can create my own mobile applications  using the CRM Mobile Technology .
I know that the mobile clients need CRM Middleware server for synchonization and for access to backend systems, but can I call any rfc on any backend system (for example R3)
for synchronization meaning that my CRM server will be used only as middleware server to access non crm functionality on other backend systems
    Thnaks,
    Oren

What you can do is the following:
data-save on MSA triggers an outbound sbdoc (containing the update objects)
-->this one is sent to CRM by the conntrans
--> the sbdoc is created from the data, stored in the inbound queue, and processed through it's CRM flow (meaning mapping to mbdoc, processing of inbound mbdoc, creation of outbound mbdoc and mapping to outbound sbdoc).
What you can do is use or exit the bdoc flow to trigger whatever other process you want.
    What exactly is the requirement?
    Michael.

  • Error while saving a Sales Order in the CRM Mobile Application

    Hi,
I am facing issues while saving a Sales Order in the CRM Mobile Application. I am getting the error message "Value Field KvLangu is not valid (Error: 236 / 1102)".
I would be very grateful if somebody had faced this issue before and this way could help me with some information.
    Best Regards,
    Rogerio Prado.

    Hi Rogerio,
You should put mobile sales related messages in the forum "CRM Mobile applications"
This error message is coming because the language table SMOT002 might be empty in your mobile client OR it does not have all the values which have been customized in the system.
You need to have subscription based on publication "customizing objects" assigned to your site.

I am trying to build a CRM mobile application in the Windows mobile.
the steps that we have followed are:
