CRM Questions

- Trying to upload a corporate account list into SAP: It has many issues it brings up including you can't include extensions for phone numbers, zip codes have to 5 digits which is a problem since many are from Canada and have different zip codes.
- There is a maximum character limit to "Company Name" (I am not sure of exactly, but I am guessing less then 25 chars)
- I received the error that several (31 of 670 accounts) weren't uploaded due to the possibility of duplicates?
Phone #'s must be entered in a standard format (###) ###-####
It seems the only process for a large number of leads Is to use the excel integration tool. And to create account first then a lead?
If there is an easier way I'm all ears. Thanks! In addition, I'm tasked with using SAP as more of a Salesforce software. So far, I'm not impressed in its CRM capabilities.

Yes you can maintain the severity of the Duplicate Check for Business Partner or disable the duplicate check for business partners
In your scope you can select either a strong, medium or weak rule for the Duplicate Check for Business Partners or disable it completely.
You can do this as follows:
Go to the Business Configuration work center and select the Implementation Projects view.
Select your First Implementation Project and click on the Edit Project Scope button.
Navigate to Step 4 Questions
Navigate to the Scoping Element General Business Data -> Business Partners
Select the Handling of Business Partners Element
You can now see the 5 options for the Duplicate Check for Business Partner and select the respective one.
You could also deactivate the duplicate check temporarily for this particular upload.
Please note that his is only possible before your Project is live.
Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
With kind regards,

  • Installing CRM question and SOLMAN Generate Required Key

    Hi everyone,
I have been trying to install the sap crm 5.0 , but there is a section where the installer asks for some Solutions Manager Key that i need to generate on the SAP SOLMAN. The thing is that i dont have any sap solman running.
I have been reading several posts where basically its says that is a req. that sap established for the crm systems.
    Anyways, i have 2 questions.
    1. Installing the SAP SOLMAN is just the same process as installing r/3 or crm, that i need to update the OS, install the dbms (upgrade it and patch it), get the kernel, export, installation master cd's and well follow the inst guide?
Or there is something else i need to have, like an r/3 system  running ?
    2. It's possible if i give to you guys the SAP SID, Instance Number, Hostname,  of the crm environment i want to install, that somebody with solman generates the key for me?
    Thanx in advance.

SolMan is a complete separate system with separate database, combined ABAP + Java instance, so to say an "R/3 system running" (to speak with your words).

that is possible - but you won't be able to get patches and updates after April 2nd of this year, SolMan and Maintenance Optimizer is mandatory till then.

  • Multi Client approach  in SAP CRM 7.0

I got some basis CRM question and trying to get some answer. I thought this is the best place to get some answer.
At my current client, we are implementing CRM initially with only few functionality i.e. ITSM and Customer Complaints. CRM team requested separate client for both the functionality for end user experience. Also they do not want to connect ITSM client to any other back-end system as of now.
Do you see any issue with creating 2 clients in CRM Production environment?
What do you recommend/suggest from your past experience?
    Thanks,
    Miral.
Edited by: Miral Vora on Aug 17, 2010 1:58 AM

    Miral,
Personally your CRM team is trying to create some job security by having two clients in CRM Production. Honestly there is no reason why you can't run ITSM and customer complaints in the same client.
IMHO two clients in a single CRM system is generally a bad idea unless there is a valid reason(IE multiple backends, businesses).
At this point unless you have mutltiple ERP backends or business units for selling that require this separation, I would not do this.  Tell your CRM team to use a single client and not make life complicated for everyone.  They should be able to separate the ITSM and customer complaints via security and business with no technical problems.
Good luck and hopefully they haven't created that extra client yet.  Multiple clients just causes headaches.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • Test data for SAP CRM 7 ( Activites )

    Hi
my first question belongs to the datatables in SAP CRM 7. I would like know which table is important for "Activities".
I see that many tables are empty, is there a transaction code or function to generate testdata?!
    greetings hassan

    Hassan,
If you have a CRM functional/development expert on site, please have them walk you through basics of using SAP CRM and how to generate data.  It is not the intent of the forums to train you on how to use CRM.
For your database question your developer resource would have told you an activity is what is called a "business transaction" and the primary header table is CRMD_ORDERADM_H.
I strongly suggest you review some of the materials outlined in my blog before posting any further CRM related questions, or at least searching in the CRM General & Framework forum for general CRM questions that are not release specific.

  • Legacy Consumer Number

    Hi Everyone,
A very basic CRM question. How do you often maintain the legacy consumer number of your BPs when doing data migration? What is the best practice here?
    Thanks,

    Hi Dave,
Completing information provided in the last post, the table that you have this information is BUT0ID. When you do the initial load this table is automatically filled.

  • Upload the Mass Product Information

    Hi Experts,
I am new to the CRM E-Commerce , I have requirement to upload the data like descriptions, dimensions, specifications, data sheets (pdf attachments ) for a 50000 products of different types. Is there any standard approach to upload these information in the CRM E-Commerce product catalogue .
    Regards

    Hi Vikranth,
I think your question is in the wrong forum. Dataloads onto the product catalogue is a more ABAP / CRM question and you'd probably get more answers there.

  • Question regarding Authorizations in SAP CRM 7.0

    Hello,
    The problem is this:
We have a client who will use two ways of accessing SAP CRM 7.0 data -
    1. CRM Web UI
    2. Mobile devices via standard SAP CRM BAPIs
Now the situation is that the client wishes to control display authorizations based on the Business Role. Certain Business Roles can allow its User to see Accounts where the User is also Employee Responsible and certain other Business Roles can allow its User to see all those Accounts that are associated with that Role. In summary Business Roles control what an User can see.
This has already been implemented for the CRM Web UI using the Access Control Engine (ACE).
    Now the questions are:
    1. How do we implement this for BAPI Access?
    2. Should we recreate what has been achieved by ACE, via PFCG Authorization Profiles?
    3. Can we not reuse what has been done by ACE?
    4. What are the runtime APIs that allow somebody to use the authorization checks of ACE?
    5. Does the standard Function Module CRM_ORDER_CHECK_AUTHORITY_ACE help in this regard?
Any help here will be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any clarifications.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Sudhi

    Hello,
Normally, some notes are recommended in addition to the current support package implementation because they were developed to solve any known issues. These known issues occurred as side effect of any note which belongs to the implemented support package.
If you take a look at older release notes, you will see the same.
This is a part of implementation stack.

  • CRM and NetWeaver  Portal Related Question?

    Dear All,
We have a requirement where in a single iView (CRM Opportunity), we would have a custom tab (call it CTAB1), clicking on which should display a separate web-based application within that tab. (as illustrated below):
The web based application would be called through a URL and a few parameters must be passed on along with it from the CRM application. All clicks within that tab would be processed by that application and once the process actions are completed, certain details would be passed back on to the CRM application. We will have custom tables and fields to capture that data in the CRM database. This data (static data) needs to be displayed under another custom tab (CTAB 2) in the same iView.
The web-based application can pass on and understand XML messages.
    My queries are:
    1.How feasible is this scenario?
    2. What kind of effort is required to build CTAB1 (custom tab calling an external URL)?
    3. What kind of effort is required to build CTAB2 (custom tab calling a custom table and custom fields residing in CRM DB)?
    4. In case we decide to build the UI for the web-based application (UI elements in iView, no data in own DB, but calling APIs in the web-based application to process the data), what would be the approach required and how much additional effort would it require compared to 2?
    Pl Suggest me
    Thanks and Regards
    PRadeep

Pradeep, first of all this scenario is definately feasible. The CRM Opportunnity iView you currently see is a so called PC-UI Application and withing the PC-UI framework several extension projects are possible. See for more basic information /people/vijaya.kumar/blog/2005/06/10/people-centric-user-interface-pcui--getting-started. [original link is broken] When the actual detail requirements can not be met in this framework a BSP Application would do the trick. On your other questions, I would say:
2 - Easy to achieve, use guide's example or have a look at /people/vijaya.kumar/blog/2005/06/10/people-centric-user-interface-pcui--getting-started on how to proceed.
3 - Easy to achieve, you can use EEW to realize this, have look at my weblog /people/vijaya.kumar/blog/2005/06/10/people-centric-user-interface-pcui--getting-started on how to achieve this.
4 - Think this approach os much more difficuolt to achieve withing the PC-UI Framework
These are my thoughts, hope it guides you in the right direction. Tiest.

  • Serveral questions to CRM On demand release 16

    Hi All,
I am using trial version of Oracle CRM On Demand release 16, and I have serveral questions to ask:
    1. In the help document "Administering Oracle CRM On Demand/Business Process Management/Creating workflow Rule Actions" mentioned that we can create an Update value action but I can't find this function in workflow rule action.
So do we have to pay for this function just as "Assign a Book action"?
    2. I can't add new values to Service Request's Status picklist, it's a read-only one.
Is there any way to achieve this?
    Thanks for any suggestion!

    Hi
1.The Action 'Update Value' is availble under Triger Event-'Before Modified Record Saved'.
I am not sure why you have to pay for "Assign a Book action". Thats out of the box functionality.
    2. Yes, SR status is a read only picklist. One workaround I can think of is to create a Custom field for Status. Then run a WF to sync the values of the Custom Status field with the Original Status field (particuluarly the Open and close values. That will maintain the integrity of all the SR matrices).

  • Some questions on CRM web interface

    Hi
I am new to CRM and I have few questions listed below:
    1. Are all the CRM services accessible via the IC ?
    2. If there is a scenario where some services needs to be available via the web, then is it a must I should use the IC?
    3. Does the CRM business package in Portal include all the services that are in SAP CRM or are they specific to certain services?
    Please help
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,
Yes the portal should provide access to all the CRM functionality with the exception of ISA/mobile.  In those cases ISA(Internet Sales) can be integrated to the portal, but is a java-based application.  The mobile application is designed with its own UI for mobile client access.
Almost all CRM web applications are BSP based with the exception of:
    - Internet Sales
    - IPC product configurator
    - Mobile Sales
If you have a business scenario in CRM that you are trying to provide through a web interface, I can tell you what a "typical" setup might be.
    Take care,
    Stephen
