Cs6 with gpu enabled,match color slugish
Hi
i notied that cs6 64bit with gpu enabled (no matter witch video card installed or drivers) loaded 2 images in my case 14mp zoom-> actual pixels
the match color sliders are sluggish even with the last intel cpu and 32big ,windows 7 64bit
can someone please check and eventually confirm?
thanks
hi give it a look at this link
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/gpu-opengl-features-preferences-photoshop.html
Mode > Normal Uses more GPU memory and enables GPU-based color matching, tone mapping, and checkerboard blending.
the odd thing is that it's happen using full screen mode with menu bar and zoom ratio different from fit to screen or full size
it's not slow , but it's not instantaneous like others tools like curve or levels
the cpu during moving the sliders is @ 20% and the gpu is around 10%

Photoshop laggy, poor performance with GPU enabled
I'm using Photoshop CS6 for some time now. I had enabled GPU usage earlier and I remember that Photoshop ran absolutely smoothly without and lag what-so-ever. This morning, all of a sudden, it has become extermely laggy. I don't understand the reason behind this. This had happened to me before as well but it became alright after a few days. This also happened to me once while using Photoshop CS5. I didn't install any plugin and didn't change any software. I also want to point out that I had 13.4 driver version when Photoshop was working fine, and now too I have the same driver version.
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955
Memory: 6 GB
Free storage: 8 GB
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5850I've also noticed poor performance since installing the 10.1 plugin. Not just in HD video etc, but in general use. So much for "improved performance"...
No idea on solutions at this stage - In the process of downgrading to previous version to see if that fixes my problems -

Does anybody experienced such issues?
Thanks
JanuszThis was using a Medium VBR, 2048 kbps.
These are really big areas - not like usual compression artifacts. Image 1cm by 2cm wide kind of areas, made of big black blocks. Like 8bit sprites from some ancient video game started flying around in the sky
Hmm... incidentally I've noticed the black blocks tend to happen in large bright areas like skies - what could that mean? -

The card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and has 256 mb. This is a brand new MBP 15" 2.4 GHz i5 cpu. When I turn off the GPU in photoshop then it process's the image but with a lot of stops as its thinking. Images are from a 7D canon and are between 21-25 mb in size My workflow is through Lightroom anf the exportet file from lightroom into PS is at 240 DPI so the image do get kind of large. have not tryed to reduce size yet. -
Uh Oh, Possible Problem with GPU-based Color Management
NOTE: The following could be an unwelcome side effect of installing the ATI 12.11 Beta 4 display driver, which I installed yesterday to try out with my Radeon HD 7850.
Consider this PNG image file - nothing special, sRGB color space, some well-saturated greenish colors...
It looks like this to me when opened into Photoshop CS6 with either Normal or Advanced GPU modes enabled:
Note that the saturated green lamp is completely blacked out.
It looks like this if the GPU Mode is set to Basic:
The data is actually there, and when I sample the colors I find that the Red channel is clipped (zero).
That is a clue. Sure enough, if I raise the black point of the red channel to 1 the problem is averted:
As it's a pretty obvious glitch I hadn't noticed until just now, this likely started occurring when I installed the new ATI driver yesterday morning, but I'm not sure. It may be some kind of overflow or underflow in the GPU color-management processing, which is moved to the CPU in Basic mode.
I'm doing more investigation, including ultimately cleaning up and dropping back to the ATI Catalyst 12.8 release, but given this behavior I think I'd advise staying away from the Catalyst 12.11 Beta 4 driver for now. Assuming this is a driver issue, 12.8 may still be the best in recent Catalyst releases.
I'll follow-up in this thread as I learn more.

Does anyone here monitor ( ) the ATI/AMD fori if this issue is widespread?
The ATI/AMD forums are mostly populated with people wanting to play games. There are few mentions of Photoshop.
Yes, I browse over there from time to time, where I am considered a "peon". I've seen evidence that a few games show corruption of a type that might be similar to what's shown here, but since it's the GPU programming by Adobe that's going wrong, which we must assume is some kind of edge case that's not behaving as expected, it's hard to say how it might manifest in other programming.
Chances are good gamers shut their computers down when done playing, so the monitor power-down failure may not be seen by many, but again I have had confirmation from several folks that the failure is seen by others besides me. By the way, to be very specific, the monitors DO power down at the prescribed time. Then a little later they turn back on.

Bridge CS4 color management only works with GPU active
When I turn hardware acceleration off (by selecting software rendering in Bridge advanced preferences) Bridge color management disappears and on my wide gamut display I get cartoon color thumbnails indicating that CM isn't working. With GPU rendering on and Bridge restarted, CM works as it should.
It seems that Photoshop requires hardware acceleration with the "color compensation" option checked under the Performance/Enable OpenGL Drawing/Advanced settings preference.
Is color management now only functional with OpenGL acceleration enabled? I can find no help documentation for the advanced OpenGL Drawing settings. What a huge can of hardware worms this is turning out to be.I wouldn't think that Bridge needed the GPU for CM, yet bypassing the GPU turns off CM in this installation.
I'm still confused about what you indicate in the Photoshop CS4 thread on OpenGL.
Chris Cox, "A few questions about OpenGl acceleration" #14, 11 Nov 2008 7:31 pm
I interpret your comment as suggesting that disabling color compensation in the PS CS4 GPU debugging features should disable CM in Photoshop, but it doesn't, it just makes it unreliable in displaying images post profile conversion in my tests. I'm probably missing some nuance here. -
how to solve illustrator cs6 save as cs5 problem about the stroke(when the stroke with clipping mask and color is gradient, save as cs5 will change to embed ).
Because it was not possible to apply a gradient to a stroke in CS5. When you open the file in CS5, it is reduced to something that can be rendered in CS5.

Premiere CS6 crashes after enabling GPU acceleration
is there a reason this would be happening? i'm running the Nvidia 680M.
I'm currently running 8.17.13.271. when i attempt to install the new driver (306.97) for the 680M i get 'could not find compatible hardware'
The GPU seems to run fine when i don't enable GPU acceleration. after i enable GPU acceleration in the nvidia control panel i get major problems. computer crashes on boot on premiere and after effects. It takes me about 2 hours to get it to boot out of safe mode after it crashes.

CS6: Can't switch off color management in the printerdriver when photoshop manages colors
So this is weird: I'm using CS6 Extended and Lightroom 5 on a Windows 7 Pro machine, printing to an old Canon Pixma Ip5200R. When i print from Lightroom, i am using a special printer profile for the pixma and my photopaper, so color management is switched off in the printer driver. The photos print fine.
Now when i print the same photo from CS6, it has a magenta color cast, so clearly something is wrong with the color management. Even though i am using the same printer, the same paper, the same printer profile and - of course! - had set photoshop to manage the colors, and switched color managent off in the printer driver. The magenta cast could be an indication that the photo is double colormanaged.
It took my quite a while to find out what happens, and this is really weird: When i re-checked the printer driver settings, i noticed that the color management settings did not stick. The canon printer driver offers the options "driver matching" "windows ICM" "none", e.g. having color management done by the printer driver or windows, or switch color management off. So when i go to the PS print settings and set it to "photoshop manages colors", add the correct printer profile, i have to check the settings in the printer driver and make sure that color management is set to "none". I set it to "none" and click OK. Now everything should be configured correctly. But it's not - because when i re-check the print driver settings, i see color management is set to "diver matching". I can go to the print driver settings again and agian, but whenever i check, color management is set to "driver matching". This setting simply does not stick. No wonder i get a mangenta cast on my prints, the colors are doublemanaged by photoshop AND my printer driver.
Now, this is getting weirder: Only the color management settings don't stick. I can change other settings like print quality and the stick.
But - how do i get rid of this? The culprit seems to be photoshop, not the printer driver. If i print from lightroom, i can change the color management settings in the (very same) printer driver and they stick. When i set the photoshop print dialogue to "printer manages colors" i can change the color management settings in the (very same) printer driver - and they stick! So this looks as if photoshop stops me intentionally from using the correct printer driver settings, that is from switching off the printer drivers color management if it is set to manage colors.
I have already resetted my personal photoshop preferences, but this changed nothing. What am i missing? What is going wrong? Your help is very appreciated.
TobiasHi all, Just to let you know that I finally solved my problem myself.
Essentially what had occurred was that I had updated my Epson driver for my printer , but it hadn't installed, despite informing me that it had! To cut a long story short when I checked in System preferences the older driver for Leopard O/S was still the current driver. I proceeded to ask Epson support for assistance, bu despite their efforts I could not immediately resolve the problem. They were directing me to my Utilities program to remove all traces of my current driver from Printer Utility which did not exist. When I queried this they stated it was not always visible and I should proceed to the next step then install the new driver. Problem was they required me to access this invisible utility in order to complete this process, and yes before you ask I had informed them I was using an Intel Mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 O/S. Finally I ignored their advice and took the following steps:
1. I opened System Preferences and double clicked the Printer & Fax icon.
2. I highlighted my Epson R2400 Pinter and removed it by clicking the minus sign at the bottom of the Printers window.
3. Next I did a search and deleted any old drivers for my R2400 that were on my system with the exception of the new Driver.
4. I restarted my Mac Pro.
5. I reinstalled my new printer driver which I had previously downloaded from Epson Support.
6. I restarted my Mac Pro and found that the new driver had installed correctly and full functionality had been returned to the Print Features Dialogue box i.e I could now turn of color management and access advanced features to set the quality of printing using the full spec of the R2400.
Hope this post will be helpful to others if they have a similar problem

Photoshop uses JavaScript to load open documents into the Match Color command
Hello,
I am a production artist and I make use of the Match Color command quite a lot in my work. I often have 6-10 Photoshop documents open and one of them is designated as my master document. With this document active, I launch the Match Color command. Inside the Match Color dialogue, I load one of the other open documents into the Source drop-down menu under Image Statistics. I click Ok, and save the master document under a new name. I have to repeat this for all other open documents. Needless to say, it gets tedious.
I started to write a script to automate this, but I cannot find the syntax for the Match Color. I have the Adobe Photoshop Cs6 Javascript Scripting Reference but have been unable to locate it in this PDF. I tried looking online, but no luck. Does anyone know what syntax to use as well as associated properties / methods?
Thanks for any assistance.What we do is we make seamless images from product photos supplied by retailers in the flooring industry (carpet, tiles, etc). The seamless image gets loaded into a virtual room scene powered by Adobe Scene7. Scene7 takes the seamless image and duplicates it horizontally and vertically, in 3D perspective, so the final rendering looks like one continuous product image. Check this link to see an example: http://sitesetup.creatingyourspace.com/wlhhbw4/designcenter/vrddesign.aspx?room=2854 The thumbnails on the left side are seamless images. click on one and it will load into the virtual room.
When I make seamless I may encounter 20-50 images of the same product, but different colors. Rather than spend 10-15 minutes per seamless, I make one and then let Match Color do the rest. Match Color is a great tool for this application. If destructive editing were an issue, the layer could simply made into a smart object, but we're not concerned about that.
I did try the javaScript listener. Below is the code it generated. I'm new to JS so I don't understand all of the syntax.
// =======================================================
var idmatchColor = stringIDToTypeID( "matchColor" );
var desc7 = new ActionDescriptor();
var idLght = charIDToTypeID( "Lght" );
desc7.putInteger( idLght, 100 );
var idClrR = charIDToTypeID( "ClrR" );
desc7.putInteger( idClrR, 100 );
var idFade = charIDToTypeID( "Fade" );
desc7.putInteger( idFade, 0 );
var idfsel = charIDToTypeID( "fsel" );
desc7.putBoolean( idfsel, true );
var idSrce = charIDToTypeID( "Srce" );
var ref5 = new ActionReference();
var idLyr = charIDToTypeID( "Lyr " );
var idBckg = charIDToTypeID( "Bckg" );

var idDcmn = charIDToTypeID( "Dcmn" );
ref5.putName( idDcmn, "4167_13828.jpg" );
desc7.putReference( idSrce, ref5 );

Enabling Suite Color Management on Bridge
When I go into Edit >>>Creative Suite Color Settings I receive an error window informing me that it hasn't been enabled and at least one qualifying product needs to be launched at least once to enable Suite Color Management.
I have opened Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop --- So why is it not enabled?What would be the best color setting for printing out large images? I tested the North America Prepress 2 --- and still had a little color change (the red coming out too much) Is there a better option?
That is a tricky one and depends on many variables.
Not familiar with NA prepress but it sounds more CMYK related to me. Your printer probably works with RGB and then you have to choose between AdobeRGB and sRGB (smaller colorspace).
There is a lot to learn and read about color management and many books have been written about this subject. At least you should have a HQ monitor and devices to calibrate both your monitor and printer to match your prints with what you see on your screen. A difficult and personal matter I'm afraid. And when you want it to be perfect you should not only have a steady and reliable lighted work environment but also have different profiles for each sort of paper you print on and even each batch of ink and paper can slightly differ... -
Match color source selection shows up as black
I'm using CS6 / 64-bit. When I try to use the Match Color command (following the very simple concepts shown in tutorials) my source selection color always shows up as black regardless of the actual color I'm seeing. My source is a single-layer simple jpeg (RGB/8) with a rectangle of solid color selected. My destination is a blank white canvas (RGB/8; "Select All"). The preview shows all black and if I say OK to the match the destination becomes all black.
Noel,
I appreciate the thought, and I realize most tutorial examples show something like matching the color of a flower or a piece of clothing, etc., but the concept seems to be simple: take the color from one selection and make another selection be the same color -- never mind size, shape or relevance of one selection to the other. I don't understand why the selection on my source is showing up as black when the selection is definitely not black. -
[solved] Xorg freezing on wakeup with EXA enabled
I am having a weird issue. Whenever I put my laptop to sleep and then I wake it up, Xorg seems to freeze on me. I've noticed this only happens with EXA enabled and it does not happen when the laptop hibernates. I don't have any other issues with X (as far as I can tell) and I really want to use EXA acceleration because otherwise maximizing or restoring windows and also viewing the widget dashboard in KDE 4.4 is painfully slow ... ~2-3s. With EXA, it is instantaneous and since I really put my laptop to sleep a lot, I would like to figure out what is going on.
Here is some info, let me know if you need other information:
xf86-video-ati 6.12.4-3 (xorg-video-drivers)
libgl 7.7.1-0.1
ati-dri 7.7.1-0.1
xorg-server 1.7.5.902-1 (xorg)
xorg-server-utils 7.5-3 (xorg)
xorg-utils 7.6-1 (xorg)
xorg-xinit 1.2.1-1 (xorg)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M66-P [Mobility Radeon X1700]
xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "radeon"
VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc"
BoardName "M66-P [Mobility Radeon X1700]"
Option "DRI" "on"
Option "DynamicPM" "on" # Dynamic powersaving.
Option "ClockGating" "on" # Assisting option for powersaving.
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" # EXA should fit most cases.
Option "EXAVSync" "on" # EXAVSync is explained above.
Option "DMAForXv" "on" # Forced option in order to enable Xv overlay.
Option "ScalerWidth" "2048" # That should fix some very rare bugs.
Option "EnablePageFlip" "on" # It will not be enabled on R5xx cards.
Option "RenderAccel" "on" # Optional. It should be enabled by default.
Option "AccelDFS" "on" #Optional. See the man page.
Option "BusType" "PCIE"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection
If tried all kinds of combinations with xorg.conf ... even tried it without an xorg.conf and nothing seems to work. It either freezes on wake-up (with EXA) or KDE is slugish (anything else).
I also tried installing the ATI proprietary drivers as well, but I can't since they don't work with the updated versions of X/kernel that I have.
Does any1 have any suggestions or maybe know if it's possible to dynamically stop EXA just before suspending to RAM and enabling it on wake up?
Thanks!
