Customize the home login

Hi All,
I want to customize the portal in such a way that if a user from a particular role logon to the portal he/she first has been displayed with a popup with OK/Cancel button. If user clicks OK then he will redirect to the default home page else he will directed to login page.
I am customizing com.sap.portal.rumtime.logon.par. I have also created an iView in the portal but how should i refer to the iView created in the portal to the JSP editied in par.

Hi,
you can follow the following steps.
     Create a new project with AbstractPortalcomponent.
      Inside the docontent(..) method implement your popup creation steps.
      deploy the par file
      create a iview from the par file.
      add this iview to your home page.

Customize the browser login thumbnail image?

Is there a way to customize the thumbnail image on the initial login page that the browser shows before it launches iTunes software? It grabs the main Welcome page image for the icon right now but that does not make for a great icon, would like to be able to add another one. Is that even possible?

Two things:
The image you see isn't always your site's banner image. If you link directly to a track/group/division/section, you'll see the image that corresponds to the closest parent container that has an image.
For example, if you send someone an iTunes URL that links directly to a track, the image that's displayed is the image you provided for the course in which the track is contained (and not your site's banner image).
Second thing is this…most transfer CGI scripts simply retransmit the HTML Apple sends them in response to an end-user's iTunes U access request "as-is"…but, in principle, your transfer CGI could modify that HTML. There are no secrets contained within Apple's transfer HTML…it's just some JavaScript plus HTML (the JavaScript's main job is to check whether the end user has a browser capable of handling the embedded itmss: redirect). In fact, the very heart of Apple's HTML is the itmss: redirect. You could certainly modify that HTML at your discretion…so long as you pass along the itmss: redirect and its supporting code, the modified HTML would work. The link to the displayed image is contained within that HTML.
Two warnings though…if you modify Apple's HTML to point to a local image, you'll be making the transfer HTML dependent on a local resource. If you local resource (a HTML server) goes down, iTunes U would stop working even though there would be no issues on Apple's end. You would have to be mindful of that. Additionally, Apple could modify the transfer HTML it sends us. That might break any local modification code…you'd have to be mindful of that too. It is for these reasons that I wouldn't necessarily recommend making any changes to the HTML Apple sends (and Apple might even discourage me from suggesting it )…but you should know that (so long as you willing to make the necessary changes) it is, in principle, possible to do what you want to do.

Can I customize the home page?

Is there a way to make the clock and other items on the banner of the home page bigger? How about increasing the number of icons on the home page? Thank you.

You can change themes.
You can look at your homescreen and press Menu > Options. Do you have an option there for Home Screen Preferences (to set the download folder, theme options , etc.?

I would like to use a dynamic drop-down to display the Portal login username and password fields.

Customizing the Home Screen Status Bar

I know right now that the ability to customize the home screen is more or less limited to the arrangement of the icons, right?
What I want is the ability to place a 'new mail' or 'new sms' icon at the top of the home screen, along the status bar where the time and signal strength are currently displayed.
That way I can see at a glance if I have new messages, even when the phone is locked, by hitting the unlock button at the top of the phone.
Luckily the SMS preview gives me that status, but I still need to manually unlock the phone with the passcode before I can see if I have any new email. I don't use an audible alert for incoming email.
I'd also prefer the option to have new sms messages neither display a preview nor even display a name on the home screen.
In short, I want more control over the behavior and display of the home screen. I've seen some rumblings that the Apple SDK disallows interaction with the home screen. If so, iPhone users are completely at the whim of Apple to include new home screen functionality.
I'm not happy with that arrangement.
Coming from the Windows Mobile word, I'm finding Apple to be a very closed system. I knew ahead of time that there would be some diminished flexibility, but I didn't expect this much of a drop.

Customize expired password login form

Hi,
On the expired login form I don't want to display the resource accounts table so the user can change only Lighthouse password if the password is expired.
since expired login form uses User Form Library, I copied the default one and renamed it and modified the customized User Form Library accordingly. I managed to removed the resource accounts table so that it displays only 2 text boxes Confirm Password and Confirm New Password. After entering the password and when I click on the Change Password button it displays error "Must Select Atleast one resource account".
The Change Password button is doing some validation, and I am not sure in which form library this button is defined. I checked in Change Password Form it contains buttons but I don't see any validation on these buttons.
Where exactly the Change Password button is defined?
Is there any other way to customize the expire login form?
Any ideas please..

What you describe should work, you just need to simulate the user selecting one or more resources.
So somewhere on the form put code like:
    <Field name='resourceAccounts.currentResourceAccounts[RESOURCE].selected'>
        <Expansion>
            <s>true</s>
        </Expansion>
    </Field>This acts as if the user has selected a resource. Kind of a weird way to do it, but there you go.

Unable to customize the homescreen

I'm unable to customize the home screen.
The icons dont wiggle as they are supposed to when I keep them pressed for sometime.
I have upgraded to ver 1.1.4, restored to factory settings, restarted but no help. Any suggestion?
The one which i have is a 16 GB model, anyopne familiar with such kind of problem?

It's not a matter of "helping" in this situation. If you want that functionality, it is included in the upgrade. With upgrade: do what you are trying, without upgrade: not able to. Personally, if that is the only item you want, I would weigh the cost versus the benefits. $20 seems (to me) steep for the ability to move icons. If you, however, are also interested in the other apps that come along with it, then the price is much more reasonable.

Customizing the Home/Root/Top option for breadcrumbs.

Hi:
I want to know if there's a way to customize the "Home Page Name" text in the dialog for formatting Breadcrumb Options. The pull-down menu lists three options: Home, Root and Top. I want to have my custom text, but I see no way to disable the "Home Page Name" text and supply one in the "Label" text field.
Example: I would like the breadcrumb to say "MyDoc > Book Blah > Topic Bleh" rather than " Home > Book Blah > Topic Bleh". Any thoughts?

Hi,
If you use Robo7, or Robo8 and add the breadcrumbs from the WebHelp navigation dialog, do the following:
In the WebHelp dialog (when you select File | Generate primary layout / File | Generate | Primary Layout) you can check to add breadcrumbs. Click the Format button, and in the field Home Page Name, select another name from the list, or type your own.
There's probably a way when you use Breadcrumbs placeholder, but I don't use that.

You can create a page and add a login portlet to it.Make it accesible to public.
change the default page of the user "public" to the page you have created.(by default it is WELCOME)
if there is an error in the user name or the password entered the portal still navigates to the default single-sign on page.(You have not changed the sign on page still)
To change this page look at on-line help.

I use BT Yahoo! but when I try and navigate to email from the home page it keeps jumping between 'connected and waiting for login' and never loads up.

My internet service provider is BT in the UK. The home page is www.btinternet.com. After I've logged on, the home page displays fine - I can see the summary of my emails in one of the windows on the home page. The problem comes when I click on the mail application. The page then tries to load the email application. However, it never actually loads, it keeps jumping between connected and waiting for login. It never achieves it so I just have to click the 'back' button to get to the home page. I use chrome and ie but neither has this problem.

I retraced my steps to how i got the Google app:
App Store icon on Home Screen > Search, at bottom > entered Google
The first Google App on the screen appears:
Google logo small g in blue square: Google Search; Open (because it is already installed). Below that is a picture of the iPod with the usual Google Search screen. I have never inserted a link into a discussion group so i hope you can open this.

It is not about the main page itself, but it shows you how to customize jtflogin.jsp, like how to (Customize Login Page/Change the Logo/Add a Background Logo .. etc).
For customizing the login screen (AppsLocalLogin.jsp in 11.5.10.2), you can find this file under $COMMON_TOP/html

Several users with the same login/Customize

This may seem a stupid question. But
I have several users login ,by department rather than creating hundreds and grouping them.
Then on the reports I have created I have put quite a lot of customizable options. I have not given them the save button on the customize page, however as I thought this would effect the defaults for other users logging in with the same login.
However I am finding that even without this if they customize a report. Then another person logs in they pick up the changes they have made. Is there a way to stop this?

If I understand it right, you basically are having several users log into one account, this should never be done, especially in OLTP environments or even OLAP where the data is sensitive. You'll have the issue you described (standard features break or don't work as expected), limit your auditing options (the database and the provider can't tell who did what all the time), increase complexity of user management (when user A no longer needs access, how can you deny him/her access without effecting those that still need access), limits development of new features (method is non-standard) and generally causes security head-aches (auditing, user management complexity, etc.). Users are not expensive objects (sessions are but you'll have as many either way).
