Dashboard in BEx 7.0 Excel Analyzer

I have to develop a dashboard with 7 queries embedded in a single worksheet. All queries have output in the form of tables (grid analysis). I know, how to do that. But, is following a possibility :
1. Keeping size of each table fixed, so I can have whole dashboard in a single view (size of my PC screen) and I do not need to scroll up-down/left right.
2.  When I change drill down in any query (any table in dashboard) and number of rows changes. That will change size of table in normal scenerio. But is it possible to insert scroll bars in each tables, so size of tables remain constant, even no. of rows and columns changes.
Could anyone help me on this. I can not use WAD, we dont have BEx Web.
MS Excel version is 2003.
Thanks
Rita

Hi.
1. Put Analyzer in design mode, then double click on any object to open up the property screen.  Disable the AutoFit on the "general" tab will stop the Analyzer from dynamically resizing the cells.
2. The feature you're looking for is also in the property screen under the tab called "clipping".

  • Dashboard to BEx query call run time very slow (7-8 mins)

    Hi Guys,
I am currently working on a project where BEx query is being consumed using BICS. The functional team has built a BEx which is being cached in Webi by the BO developer and then that cashed Webi is being used in Dashboard. We have many hierarchies (Fund Center, Profit Center, GL Account etc.) used in the dashboard.
BEx query > WEBi (Cached) > Dashboard
Clicking the main level in hierarchy in dashboard the data comes back in 2-3 secs as the data is cached in Webi
ISSUE: In Dashboard based on where user is on the Fund Center hierarchy there is a button called “Summary Report” on the dashboard which calls the BEx query and that second call takes roughly about 7-8 minutes. How could we reduce the run time of the second query?
The secondary query uses the same data set as the first one but as the data is cached in Webi and it uses Web services to pass data to dashboard, so any call back from dashboard to the cached webi the hierarchy information is lost  and thus the secondary query call to BEx query.
Would it be possible to recommend any solution where we could bring the run time of the secondary call to less than a minute?
    Thanks,

  • Error When Refresh Formatted Data inside Excel Analyzer

I have build a Excel template and load up this to the BI Publisher Server. When I call this template after the log in works fine. When I refresh the data normal it works also fine, but when I try to refresh formatted Data I get the error "Error: This report does not support HTML as an output format." I will not use html output inside Excel, I will use the original Excel template with refreshed data.

    Hi Tim,
The Refresh Formatted Data works on MS Excel 2003.
May need to check if its really supported on MS Office 2002.
Btw another question, is it possible to create an excel template without using Excel Analyzer?
Also when I used the generated excel file of Excel Analyzer as template, when the report is generated the data sheet sometimes is not filled with correct data or sometimes there is no data at all, even if the parameters used is the same as the one used in generating the original excel file using Excel Analyzer. This happens most of the time for reports with Concatenated Queries or SQL Queries using "CURSOR" to group a set of data. Note that on initial generation of excel file using Excel Analyzer, correct set of data is displayed. It is only when it is used as template and viewed/exported in Excel format that data is not properly loaded.
    Please advise.
    Thanks!

  • Excel Analyzer template problems with Excel 2003

There are numerous common problems when using Excel Analyzer templates with the Analyzer Add-In for Excel 2003:
The following problems have been found in the latest version of the stand-alone BI Publisher version 10.1.3.3.2:
    1) If your report name is more than 24 characters long, the Excel Analyzer template will never open in Excel. The error is completely uninformative, too. The reason is that the Analyzer template tries to make a tab in the Excel file called <report_name>.xdo. Since tab names can only be about 26 characters long, Excel chokes when opening the file. It would have been nice if BI Publisher printed an error when encountering this situation.
    2) If your report produces too many rows, Excel will time out when opening the Analyzer template. Again, the error in this case is completely uninformative. In fact it appears no different from the error in (1). Excel 2003 is supposed to have a row limit of 65,000, but we can't get the Excel Analyzer template to open with more than about 15,000 rows. This is a completely unacceptable limitation if you're going to be making pivot tables in Excel. This is a processing time-out problem, which cannot be remedied by changing any settings in BI Publisher.
    3) If you use the data in your Excel Analyzer template to make a wide report, like maybe one column for each day in the year, because maybe you want to plot the data over a full year, then forget about opening this report successfully. Since the number of days in a year is more than 256, Excel will choke when trying to open the template. No informative error here either.
    4) If you're going to make a Pivot Chart in Excel, in the Analyzer template, then your reports cannot produce more than 256 rows. I'm not talking columns, I'm talking ROWS people! No more than 256 rows. This is because Pivot Charts require creating a sideways pivot table, which means your rows end up as columns. This is the only way to plot data with time on the x-axis, which is where it should almost always be.

  • Excel Analyzer:errors on opening reports

    Hi all
    I am on Excel 2007, OBIEE 10.1.3.4.0.
Finally got the Analyzer menu tab to appear in Excel. After logging in I I am able to see on-line reports (but not templates?). When I try to open any report I first get an error box which says
<<Translation file not found for locale:'en-GB'!>>
When I ok this i get an Excel message:
<<Object variable or With block variable not set>>
The report then appears to load but the cursor remains an hour glass and none of the Analyzer menu options are available. I therefore cannot create or upload templates!
Can anybody help with this please?
    Thanks
    Naz

    Found the problem,
In the Install directory of Excell Analyzer there a number of translation files, and bizarely this file is missing.
The directory should be C:\programfiles\oracle\XML Publisher\Analyzer for excel\config
I've copied the en-US.xlf file and renamed it en-gb. Not sure if this is correct but my reports are working now. The real question is how to update the xlf file on the bi server so all users dont encounter this problem.
Hope this helps anyone else who has this issue.

  • Merge Two Reports in Excel Analyzer - One To Many Relationship

I want to show AR Data with CO Data - e.g. a bill + Income and it's associated account ssignemnt on the FI/CO side. I want the report to be able to show a cost centre manager to be wary of the income credited to their cost centre when a debtor has been raisedaas they may not fully pay the bill. To do this I'm using the standard DSO for AR & GL line items. Fisrtly I run a query on GL line item data where the user can select from a cost centre variable to look at credits to their cost centre. This produces a list of source documents that are used (via replacement path variable) in a second query. The second GL Query gives me a list of the allocation numbers for those line items. Had to be two queres as there are two GL postings that needed linking (this is because the cost assignment comes from a ceratin acc type and the debtor information comes from another acc type). I then use the allocation number (again via a replacement path variable) to run a third query on the AR data that shows all bills and payments linked to that allocation number. It seems to work ok.
However I have put these three queries in an Excel Analyzer workbook. All the user does is enter a cost centre when running the report. Each query is on a different sheet but what I'd like to do is merge the data on to the one sheet. I want to see the bill and it's payments from the AR data matched up with the cost assignment from the FI/CO data. This would be a one to many relationship e.g. one bill may have it's cost assignment split over more than one cost centre. Is there anyway to do this using simple excel functionality?
    So I'd like to see:
    Allocation No. 12345 Bill £100 Revenue £50 Cost Centre 1234 £25
                                                                           Cost Centre 2345 £25
    Anybody any ideas?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your answers.
I did explore using infosets but really struggled with joining the data and getting a sensible output. For example where a bill was done in installments I was getting 12 lines (e.g. one for each month) rather than just one. THis meant it looked liked they'd paid twleve times as much etc.
I did also try report to report. Which to my mind worked ok. Except the customer wanted it all in "One" report rather than having to drill down to see data.
I'll try a multiprovider but I'm worried that I'll end up with similar issues as I had when using the infoset.
    Cheers
    Joel

  • Excel Analyzer cannot connect to server

All, I am having some problems connecting the Excel Analyzer to the server I'm retrieving information from. Here are the steps I do:
    1. Connect to BI Publisher, open a Report.
    2. Go to View and click on Excel Analyzer button.
    3. Enable macros and wait for the report to open.
    4. Go to Oracle BI Publisher Menu and click on Login.
At this point, Excel opens a message that says 'Error: Could not get server version: 504 - Gateway Time-Out'.
I have been able to connect successfuly through the Word Template Builder many times, but I somehow cannot connect through Excel. Is there a configuration or something I'm missing before being able to make it work?
    Thanks in advance.

    What is the OS version?
What is the Office version ?

Update this post saying that I've added the property ROLES=myrole inside the connection to SSAS for the Excel workbook and also the SSAS roles function without any problems.
It seems that the EffectiveUserName authentication is a valid one and so I could think to use it instead of Kerberos authentication.
    Bye
    Hello,
I have followed the steps mentioned under http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj938164.aspx. My SharePoint site has 3 users User A, B and C. Under SSAS db I have created a
role and added read permission to User A and B. But, User A, B as well as C can read the excel file published onto the SharePoint.. Why is User C able to read it when I have added only User A and User B to the role under SSAS db?

  • BEx Not Reusing Excel Sessions

Since installing SAP_BW Support Package 19, I have a problem when trying to run more than one workbooks in BEx Analyzer.  The first workbook opens OK, but subsequent workbooks give the following messages:
    Call cl_rsr_excel_launch -> Execute with workbook ID  = 'Y0OE1EH5H988SERG06VAV557B'
    Call cl_rsr_excel_launch -> Execute with genuniid  = ''
    Call cl_rsr_excel_launch -> Execute with hide_sapgui = ''
    Use BEx Analyzer version '2004s'
    Read RSADMIN: REUSE_XL_INSTANCE = ''
    EXCEL.SHEET created using COM
Add-in 'SAPBEX.XLA' has not been loaded yet
    Version 3x loaded = ''
Analyzer requires version 140. The currently installed version is 27
Only the last message is an error.  The others are informational.
On the front-end, I have Support Package 8.
I can open multiple BEx workbooks through the BEx add-in menu.  It is only when I open them from SAP GUI that I get the error.
I looked at note 1152929, but that was for up to Support Package 17.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Thank you for your response.
Yes, we are using 7.x Frontend Patch 800.
I had been working with workbooks and queries that had been migrated to BI 7.
I do have some 3.x ones that I work with occassionally.  I just tried a 3.x as the second workbook and got a slight different set of messages:
    Call cl_rsr_excel_launch -> Execute with workbook ID  = '40NLNTG8TL0W13PXY03HDDLOI'
    Call cl_rsr_excel_launch -> Execute with genuniid  = ''
    Call cl_rsr_excel_launch -> Execute with hide_sapgui = ''
    Use BEx Analyzer version '3X'
    Read RSADMIN: REUSE_XL_INSTANCE = ''
    EXCEL.SHEET created using COM
Add-in 'SAPBEX.XLA' has not been loaded yet
    Version 3x loaded = ''
Analyzer requires version 140. The currently installed version is 27
Again, only the last message is an error.

  • BI-IP - Bex Analyser - select excel single row and aplly planning function

    Hi experts,
In BI-IP (BW 7) with Bex Analyser, is it possible to select a single excel row (or a range of rows) and then apply a planning function? I know that in WAD it's possible with the binding option to select a single web item.
The purpose is to apply a revaluation factor to selected (by the user) cost elements rows in the workbook.
    Thanks and regards,
    MA

    Hi
It is possibel in WAD to select one or many rows while executing Functions such as--Reposting; Revaluation etc.
However, you should be in a position to select the rows based on....unique identifier such as Require ID; Request #; Serial #; ....this is more so in case of multiple entries for the same cost element for different combinations.

  • BEx Map in Excel: Print only result area

    Hi experts,
I am in BEx Map - Excel, and I am trying to print the result area ONLY, without key figures, legend and so on...
Print Preview in Excel shows the key figures on the left, the legends on the right and a little version of the map (as if way too zoomed out) in the middle.
I know there is a post dedicated to the "print only result area" but its solution is "web only"
    Thx,
    Olivier

    Arun,
Attaching a map in BEx-Excel is different from attaching a chart. When attaching a map, you can't choose in which sheet/workbook the map will be displayed. A new sheet is automatically added to the workbook holding the BEx query, period.
But thx anyway. I did try your thought

  • Embedding Macros in the BEx web exported excel sheet

    Hi all Advanced reporting gurus,
I have to embed a macro in the excel sheet, when the user clicks the button Export to excel sheet in the BEx web. This needs to be generic, it means every BEx web user should be able to avail this macro. Can any one suggest me the methods to do so ?? Its really urgent and ur quick response is awaited....
    Thanking you in advance,
    Bret

    Hi Heike,
Thanks for your help. I searched the office XML documents and one the help file specifys this tag
    IntlMacro Element (Microsoft Excel)
Specifies whether a worksheet is an international macro sheet.
    Contained In
    WorksheetOptions
    Remarks
If <x:IntlMacro/> is specified, the worksheet is an international macro sheet.
so I guess, if Office XML standards are used in BW then this tag also shld work. I read few topics on SAP ABAP class files such as ZCL_RSR_XLS_HELP_WINDOW_PRINT and it has one the method to trigger rendering of data. Can I use this class and method to send the tag values so that macro is also embedded while sending data ????
    your thought are highly awaited,
    thanks

  • Why a Bex stored in Excel

    Hi,
Why do we store a query in a local Excel sheet?
    a) is it for sending a mail
    b) is it for calculation locallly when the BEx is down?
    c) is it easy for calculations?
Please let me know which is correct?

    Hi,
Excel is designed to optimise BEx Queries used in a predefined workbook that reads and writes data through BExGetData and BExSetData
This tool is very useful for fine tuning your existing queries and will reduce the time it takes to refresh and save values
