Data Retention EBS Data

I just wondered (especially for UK posters) if there are any data retention issues for Oracle Financials supplier (Payables) and customers (Receivables) that must be adhered to for compliance with data protection act?
I am not sure if theres any personal data on a general ledger as I am not an accountant, but with clients and suppliers in Oracle EBS you have names addresses and more which falls into the remit of data protection.
What are the rules around your data retention policies for personal client and supplier data? When do you have to dispose of it? I.e. a one time supplier/customer -- do you need their personal data forever more?
Your mainly DBA's so I assumed some would know?

An example is VAT related accounting which may require you to keep your Payables and Receivables for up to 6 Years.Thanks. Is that documented in legislation anywhere online? And also what level of data is required, does it included the personal names addresses bank data etc for customers and suppliers?

In the uk there are specific legislation around keeping data that stores pii (personally identifiable information) only as long as is required for business purposes (data protection act). I just wonder how challenging that is to a DBA. Take for example an oracle database that houses personal information about HR/Payroll? Do you have to set procedures to delete data of ex employees after x amount of months? Is it practical? Do you have to go through your backups and delete any trace of such information there as well? It seems a bit of a nightmare to my I just wondered how you go about dealing with this issue for any databases you support that process/store PII?While the DBA certainly needs to be involved in these discussions, ultimately it is up to the apps guys to develop an app that properly maintains the app data. There is no parameter "pii_retention="
The dba can advise on how to structure the schema such that the PII is easily isolated, identified, and maintained without conflicting with other requirements, like fiscal's requirement to retain data for several years for auditing purposes.

    Hi all,
I am trying to implement the HR-Org based data security in EBS-OBIEE integration.
After creating the initialization blocks EBS Single Sign-on Integration,Get Oracle EBS Security Context,Group-EBS Responsibility I have created a new initialization block HR Organizations to populate the session variable "HR_ORG" and I am using the following the query.

  • Archiving data retention period (best practice)

    Hi,
Can anybody provide the standard FI-CO data retention period I mean for how long data from the following table has to be retained:
    BKPF, BSAD, BSAK, BSAS, BSIS
    Best business practice.
    Thanks in advance
    Joseph

    Hi,
I would not recommend to change this setting. One major problem you get will be that the archiving function will delete data from database (which has been transferred to the archive). So far so good, that´s one of the archiving features
But it sometimes happens that you have to open an already closed fiscal year again. And if you open this last closed fiscal year again, the realtime transactions could fail now if data (transactions, etc.) is missing which exists only in the archive at that point of time.
By the way, you can have a look at SAP note 389920, in there the archiving functionality is documented for FI-AA application.

  • EBS data and meta data retrieval

    Hi,
I am into java and my requirement is to retrieve data and meta data of the underlying EBS implementation and make it available to the EBS end users for some kind of processing which is outside EBS.With my limited knowledge of EBS,what I understand is that there is a logical view and a physical view of the data.My queries are as below:-
    1. Is there a way to get the relationship between physical and logical view?
    2. How to get the meta data of the underlying table structures?
    3. Should JDBC drivers be sufficient to retrieve the data or is there any other more efficient means of retrieval.
Any help on the same is appreciated as I am new into this area and any help is welcome.
    Thanks
    MNG

    Hi,
    1. Is there a way to get the relationship between physical and logical view?
    2. How to get the meta data of the underlying table structures?See Oracle eTRM website.
    eTRM

    3. Should JDBC drivers be sufficient to retrieve the data or is there any other more efficient means of retrieval. I believe using JDBC drivers should be sufficient. For using JDeveloper, please see (Note: 330236.1 - Configuring JDeveloper For Use With Oracle Applications 11i and R12).

  • Oracle EBS Data Purging and Archival

    Hi,
I would like to know if there is any tool available in market for Oracle EBS data purging and Archival?
    Thanks,

yes, there are 3rd-party tool available which will apply a set of business rules (ie all data older than Nov.1, 2007) through the various Oracle modules implemented at a customer site.
They are 3rd-party tools; You can go to Oracle.com and look in partners validated integration solutions. At the moment there are 2 partners offering such integrated solution:
Solix EDMS Validated Integration with 12.1
    IBM Optim Data Growth Solution
the only other solution is to hire OCS for a customized developed solution

  • End-date for EBS account for Re-hires

    Hi Guys,
I am facing a weird issue.
We have configured EBS connector which is working fine for all new users. But in case of new hires, the END-DATE on EBS account is not getting changed. But it is getting changed on EBS process form. I did not see any errors in the log to trace the issue.
    Please help me out.

locate the EBSUM jar, java class and method being called for this task and extract jar to verify the OOTB code, I don't remember exactly but this code issue. verify this using decompiler.
If you check the ootb updateuser method(ORCL_EBS_UM_9.1.0.7.0\lib\EBSUM\oracle\iam\connectors\ebs\usermgmt\integration\EBSUserManagement.jar), enddate pass as s7 and this is not being considered for update. this is bug with connector you can raise SR to oracle or try below( which I applied earlier)
write a java code to update end date directly into ebs database.
    1. remove the existing adapter and attach your custom adapter where pass username, effective date to, ebs database login detail( already you have in the itresource pass the same here.
    2. now write a java code and do below step
    a) connect to database using normal sql connection
    b) executeUpdate method to update end date ( update fnd_user where set eff_date_to=to_date(enddate,'format') where username=user) something like this.
before doing above login to ebs db using apps user and describe the fnd_user table and see the exact attribute name.

  • Lowest Grain of Financials Analytics vs. Data in EBS? - For Not EBS Experts

Guys, any person has some non-super techie or non-super EBS export answer to my following question:
What is the "Lowest Grain of Financials Analytics vs. Data in EBS?"
For a vanilla install, what lowest level of AP, AR, GL types of information that we carry in EBS that will not be available in BI Apps Fin Analytics.
I know there are 200 different settings but to keep the conversation simple, pleas share your thoughts.
This is something that comes up quite often and i have not found a simple answer to this question.
    Regards,
    Mike

the simple answer is to look at what is called the INTEGRATION_ID column of the specific Fact or Dimension table. As needed, you can reference the OBIA DMR (Data Model Reference). What this shows is a unique combination of attributes (usually from the source system) that identify each row. Based on this, you can determine the vanilla granularity.
The DMR sometimes also lists the grain definition directly. Here is an example:
W_PAY_TYPE_D --> "The grain of this table is at a single lowest 'Pay Type' level. For example if 'Tax' is a
type of pay being considered, then the lowest level of this (like Federal Income Tax,
State Tax etc) forms the grain of the table"
W_PAYROLL_F --> "The grain of this table is typically at an Employee - Pay type - Pay Period Start Date
    - Pay Period End Date level. For a given employee and pay period, each record in this
table stores the amount associated with that pay type (line item)"
If this helps, please mark as correct or helpful.

  • Using QUERY_FIND by date range EBS-R12

       HI ,
I have developed a custom form for EBS R12, and i used the standard technique to develop it,
I also used the QUERY_FIND object group to display search form. using below code in the pre-query trigger of the block
    BEGIN
       IF :parameter.g_query_find = 'TRUE'
       THEN
          COPY (:query_find.item,
                'my_block.item'
          :parameter.g_query_find := 'FALSE';
       END IF;
    END;
    and everything is working fine.
but now i need to search for a DATE item, and the search should be by Date From and Date  to.
I can't use the copy function to do the search for date range.
so i want to know the standard way that I should use to do such search.
I thought to used SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY and change the DEFAULT_WHERE
is this a standard way to do this search, or there is other way to do that.
    Best Regards
    Amir

    Hi,
    Try something like this:
    SELECT       grad_stu_id
    FROM       grad_fee_structure_hist
    GROUP BY  grad_stu_id
    HAVING       COUNT ( CASE
                      WHEN  DATE '2010-09-01'  BETWEEN  grad_eff_fee_date
                                               AND        grad_exp_fee_date
                    THEN  1
                END
              )     > 0
    AND       COUNT ( CASE
                      WHEN  DATE '2009-09-01'  BETWEEN  grad_eff_fee_date
                                               AND        grad_exp_fee_date
                    THEN  1
                END
              )     = 0
;If a NULL grad_fee_exp_date means that the row is currently in force, then use something like
    NVL ( grad_fee_exp_date
        , DATE '9999-12-31'
        )instead of the raw date.
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and the results you want from that data. Explain how you get those results from that data, giving specific examples.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using.

  • Data Validation EBS 12

I am trying to considering loading data from EBS into Planning.
From what I understand, ERPI does not have any functionality to perform validation rules on data before loading them into EPM applications. Is this correct?
This may be a very general question, but how do I go about determining if I need data validation or not?
And if I do need data validation, I take it FDQM is the solution?

Ok, thanks. Any input from yourself or others here on my other question: How do I determine if I need validity? What necessitates validity? Are there situations where I do not need validity (I am assuming there are, which is why ERP Integrator does not provide that functionality)

  • Issue with DATA RETENTION LEVELS PARTNER

HI I am having an issue
The issue is in contract where I have a data retention partner level .I have partner retention level at purchase organization level and want to copy it to a plant level where in when I try to copy the other partner functions are being copied but the partner function VN is not being copied .
Could any one tell me why this is happening and how I could overcome this issue .

    Hi,
set the propety "display" to medium text for this charateristic either in the BEx report itself either in the query definition.
Ensure that the text are well loaded (run tran RSDMD with this IObj in norder to display master data)
Only having meduim texts will prevent you to display "key and texts" in reports.
You could enhance your IObj and enable short/long texts as well; in the transfer rules just load the medium text in short (truncate its length to 20) as well as in the long text.
    hope this helps...
    Olivier.

  • SAP DART - Data Retention Tool

    Hi folks,
Anyone has experience with DART – Data Retention Tool? This tool generates a flat file with an audit log result and I would like to know if is possible generate it in XML format? If not, which is the best option to convert this flat file in a XML?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo.

XML is not an option, however you can generate a view file in a format that contains meta data describing all field properties in the same file. That would be the best format to start with for XML conversion I think.

  • Data retention limit for infoproviders??

    Hello experts
Can any budy tell me how to find out data retention limit for all infoproviders??
    Thanks
    Sudeep

when you mean data retention - there can be multiple data retentions possible :
    1. PSA information - this would be the typical PSA data retention that you follow in the process chains
    2. Request Information - this would depend if you are using request information archiving which is avaiilable from 7.0 onwards
    3. Information in the infoprovider : This would depend if you have used archiving etc ...
typically the data retentions would be
same as in R/3 for ODS which stored detailed information
for cubes - it would typically be about 5 years or so - this would depend on the amount of data available in the infoprovider and how frequently the data is being used...
