Data sources are hidden in r/3 once enhanced

Hi all,
we are facing some typical issue with logistic data sources.
we have enhanced some Logistic data sources.
we also successfully transported them from Development to quality.
But now when we go back to r/3 all the data sources which we enhanced are hidden.
Can any one please let us know the solution for this?
Points deffinately will be assigned for the valuable answer..because its way of saying thanks in SDN.
Thanks,
Shailaja

Hi Shailaja,
When you were saying the data source enhancement was hidden, do you mean those additional fields that you add?
If it's the case, you need to go to RSA6, highlight the data source, then from the top menu, go to Data Source->Change Data Source.
Then you will see the fields that you just add have 'hidden' ticked. You need to unticked those boxes and replicate the data source again in BW.
Cheers,
Mona

  • What data sources are being used

    Hi,
    I am about to create a new Planning application (v9.3.1.1) and we currently have two other Planning applications. When I select Create Application from the administration menu, I can see one Data Source available in the listbox. Does that mean that the data source is currently unused and available, or is it a risk that any of the other planning applications that are already created are using this data source? I tried to see what data source the tw current planning applications are using I could not find that information anywhere.

    When you create an application and you see datasources available that should mean they are not currently being used.
    You can always edit the datasource and check the database/schema it points to is empty.
    Cheers

  • Time series functions are not working in OBIEE for ESSBASE data source

    Hi All,
    I am facing a problem in OBIEE as I am getting error messages for measure columns with Time series functions(Ago,ToDate and PeriodRolling) in both RPD and Answers.
    Error is "Target database does not support Ago operation".
    But I am aware of OBIEE supports Time Series functions for Essbase data source.
    using Hyperion 9.3.1 as data source and obiee 11.1.1.5.0 as reporting tool.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Aravind

    Hi,
    is because the time series function are not supported for the framentation content, see the content of the oracle support:
    The error occurs due to the fact the fragmented data sources are used on some Time series measures. Time series measures (i.e. AGO) are not supported on fragmented data sources.
    Confirmation is documented in the following guide - Creating and Administering the Business Model and Mapping Layer in an Oracle BI Repository > Process of Creating and Administering Dimensions
    Ago or ToDate functionality is not supported on fragmented logical table sources. For more information, refer to “About Time Series Conversion Functions” on page 197.

  • Difference between Replication and Activation of Data Sources

    Hi,
    I would like to know what exactly happens when data sources are replicated and when data souces are activated
    Regards,
    Visali.G.

    Once you make the replicate of DS at BW, what ever the struc. for that DS would be regenarated, and accordingly your extraction and setup table struc. would get updated by the latest changes made in the DS.
    At the BW side all corresponding communication and transfer structure and PSA structure would also get generated according to the DS struct. per R/3
    Need of Replication in other terms we can say
    Replication needs to be done is each time you save you datasource in R/3. This causes the timestamp of the datasource to be changed and hence the timestamp of the datasource in R/3 and BW are not in sync. Replication would make the timestamp in sync in both R/3 and BW.
    Hence you would notice the error "Timestamp error" when you do not replicate the datasource after changing it.
    Activating the data source, activating the structure and make available the dat source to use.

  • Same layout differerent Data source

    Hello,
    Here is the setup :
    I have a couple of reports that have data being fetched from 2 different sources : database and XML files.
    1.The Layouts for both of them are exactly same,just the Data sources are different.
    2. I have created a Top level frame each which enclose all data fields for respective data source.
    3.Based on a parameter being passed,I decide which Top level frame to hide/display,using format trigger.
    4.The top level frame enclosing XML source fields is located 1 inch below ( physically, not in terms of layers ) Top level frame enclosing Data source fields
    Now the problem :
    When the Top level frame bound to Database Data source is hidden, the top level frame enclosing XML source fields should move up, automatically. This is not happening.
    I tried to anchor top level XML frame to top level Data source frame and 'Keep With Anchoring Object' property = yes of the Top Level XML frame.. It did not help either.
    Can anybody provide any isights ?
    Thanks.

    An additional detail :
    Main section of my report layout has 2 vertical panels.
    My Top level frame fetching data from database is on first panel and Top level frame feching data from XML data source is on the second panel.
    If I try to keep both frames on the same panel, then the second frame extends out of the panel boundry, and is tough to edit then.

  • Shared Data Sources magically disabled

    We've got a Business Intelligence Centre site that's not been rolled out to our users just yet and yesterday I noticed that all of the shared data sources are disabled and yet the 'date modified' and the 'modified by' columns haven't changed.
    Is there any way that I could figure out how or why this could happen?
    N03L

    I've also noticed that when I try to select a shared data source using the elipsis (...) button once I've re-enabled them, I can't select them. They all appear but they're no longer hyperlinks that I can click.
    If I double click on one of the data sources in the data connection library, the selection only contains the library name and not the data source that I clicked on.
    It's very hard to describe so my apologies for any confusion.
    Here's a step by step...
    1. Click on Manage Data Sources from the ECB of a report.
    2. Click on the Data Source name that's already associated with that report.
    3. Click on the elipsis (...) button to browse for a shared data source.
    4. Navigate to the Data Connections library and try to select an item from the library.
    None of the data sources are selectable and yet if I type the full path manually into the field at the bottom of the dialog box, the data source is bound to the report without a problem.

  • Retrieve data source connection string from reportserver.dbo.DataSource

    I would like to retrieve the connection string (and credentials) for each of my data sources (without having to click on each individual item). The DataSource table has a column called ConnectionString, but the data type is image, which cannot be converted to varchar. Does anyone have any ideas of how to pull this information from the database?
    I have tried converting to binary/varbinary, and then converting to varchar, but I get garbage back.
    Note: I am currently using SSRS 2005
    Thanks,
    Marianne

    Hi Jin,
    I downloaded your script and was impressed with the information it retrieves, however, it is not formatted very well with the name of each data source being on the same line as the previous data source so I updated the script to create a blank line between
    each data source block, and also to include the login credentials used by the data source, and the path for the data source, which is very useful in being able to locate the data source for editing in Report Manager. However, it is not retrieving all data
    sources and I don't know why. I know this for a fact because there are data sources defined that are not in the output of this script but I don't know enough about VB to improve the script further, or how the report server is configured to ensure the code
    finds the missing data sources.
    Here's the updated script.

    To run this I use:
    rs -i GetPropertiesOfDataSources.rss -s
    http://<reportserver_name>/reportserver > DataSources_<reportserver_name>.txt
    But as I mentioned it is not picking up all of the data sources and I don't know why. I also don't know why it's so difficult to find all the data sources from within Report Manager. I'm new to SSRS but was told that prior to SQL 2005, this information was
    easily available using Management Studio to connect to the report server but now it's buried in the Report Manager and not accessible from one spot. Bad move by Microsoft apparently. You'd think that there would be an easy way to find all of the data sources.
    We need to migrate the SQL Servers on which reports are running, but we have tons of reports and, historically, little documentation for them so we need to be able to determine where all the data sources are so we know which to update. This is proving extremely
    difficult. Your script helps but is not comprehensive.
    Any and all help is appreciated.

  • Data Federator data source not available causes Universe Connection error

    I created a Data Federator project that connects to 20 servers across US and Canada.  All data sources are SQL Server 2005.  The DF project maps 40 source objects into 4 target objects.  I created a universe based on the DF project and we have been quite pleased with Webi query response.  Today one of the source servers was taken off line and this generated a connection error when trying to access the universe (not trying to access the data source that failed).  We do not want the universe connection to error when one source server is not available u2013 is that possible?
    If the answer is no then I see us abandoning what appears to be a great solution for real time distributed reporting and resorting to ETL and moving data.

    Hi Chapman,
    Can you be little elobrate on what you have done to solve the issue.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Excel External Data Source Refresh Issue

    I have been facing this issue for quite some time now.. i have created an Excel sheet in Excel-13 and have imported data from an external data source [SQL server 2012].
    Everything is working fine, with the excel sheet on the desktop. Data refreshes, every-time i open the excel file and also at regular intervals that i have configured in the data source properties.
    The problem begins when i save that excel sheet on my sharepoint server. the issues that i am facing are :
    1. Changes made into the original data source, are not reflected immediately inside the excel sheet inside the browser. after 5-10 minutes, it reflects the changes..
    2. The data doesn't refreshes automatically. After i update my data inside the sql server table, i have to manually trigger the refresh of the data connection when viewing the excel sheet inside the browser, even though i have marked "Refresh when opening
    the file", and refresh every 1 minute inside the excel sheet. Any solutions ??
    I have been troubled a lot by this issue, and seek for some quick solution.. Any help here ??

    I found the solution finally, my self ..
    Issue - 1 : It's going to take atleat 5-minutes to refresh the data connection, that is generally not a big time span.
    Issue - 2 :
    --> Set Your connection to refresh everytime the file is opened. go to internet explorer -> file -> internet options -> general -> Browsing History -> Settings -> Check for newer versions of stored pages... Check 'Every time I visit the
    webpage'.
    Now everytime i update your original data source, wait for 5-10 minutes and refresh my web page containing the excel sheet.. The Contents of the excel sheet are updated as desired..

  • Report using two different data sources won't work.

    I'm trying to build a report that shows information from a production table and an archive table.
    Tables are in different databases, which are defined as their own Data Sources in Publisher.
    Two data sets containing the same query but using different Data Sources are defined in the Data Model.
    When selecting option 'Concatenated SQL Data Source' the report never completes.
    If any of the two Data Sets is selected as the Main Data Set, the report shows information related to that source only.
    Any hints on how to make this work would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    ccastillo

    More details on this issue:
    The production database has a synonym pointing to the archive database. I build a query using a UNION ALL statement linking both tables.
    For the same set of parameters, this query completes in a couple of minutes outside BI Publisher, but never ends (I cancel after an hour) inside Publisher.
    Is there any special considerations for the use of synonyms inside Publisher?

  • Remote cube on Data Source 0FI_GL_4

    HI,
    I have a requirement of  reconciling  the Line Items from R/3 to BW.
    So i tried to create Remote cube with Direct access, but coudnt due to 0FI_GL_4 data source doesnt support Direct access and reconciliation.
    I can see that Data Source  0FI_GL_4  is being fetched by Function module BWFID_GET_FIGL_ITEM and the base table is DTFIGL_4.
    My question is can I create the Generic data source based on the function module by taking the copy of existing FM BWFID_GET_FIGL_ITEM  and change Direct access option to 2(Supports Preaggregation).
    Do i need to change any settings at table level and parameters to get the required solution.
    Please sugget me how to proceed the development to reconcile the Line Items from R3 to BW.
    Regards,
    Siva..

    HI Banerjee,
    Thanks for the update.
    As you said i cant use the data source 0FI_GL_1, Because we need to reconcile many fields from R/3 to BW, but  those fields are not available in this data source and it will be complicated to enhance such fields.
    can I create View based generic data source on BSEK and BSEG tables, Will it work? if yes do i need to follow any criteria to get the Correct Line Items.
    Please suggest me is there any SAP suggested solution or if you worked on such kind of development.

  • Removing unused data sources in Web Analysis

    I created report with charts and spreadsheets and it created its associated data source object in Web Analysis.
    But the cube associated with data sources is renamed by my admin. so old data sources are corrupted.
    How do I remove those old data source objects in WA?
    I am able to create new data sources to same report and use it, but when i open report every time, it asks me to log in to validate old data sources.
    Any suggestion is appreciated. i have goggled for this information i am out of luck. i would have export and import report if i was aware of changes to my cube.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hello Vic,
    -> Open the Report, switch to designer mode
    -> Double click on the report.
    -> Select the desired datasource
    -> Hit the Delete key on your keyboard
    It would ask, if it is safe to remove

  • Key Figures in Joined Data Source

    Hello,
    I have created some Key Figures for the Data Source "Sales Order Item". Reports based on this Data Source are working fine and also my Key Figures are displaying the right results.
    Now I want to create a Joined Data Source (Left Outer Join) with the Sales Order Item and Outbound Delivery Detail Line Items. The problem I have here is, that my own Key Figures based on Sales Order Item are not showing up in the list and I cannot select them.
    Does anyone know why? Do I have to create the same Key Figures again and again as soon as I want to join the Sales Order Item Data Source with any other Data Source?
    Thanks for any feedback.

    Key figure are not available in joining Data Sources, Characteristics of same type from different Data Source data element available in joining scenario.

  • Error while creating data source using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g

    Hi,
    I have deployed my web application developed on OC4J 9.0.4 stand alone (Win2K) to an integrated OC4J version(Solaris) using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g.
    However, I get an error when I try to create a data source.
    The data source I want to create would have the following parameters (as seen in data-sources.xml on the stand alone version):
         <data-source
              class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
              name="TestDS"
              location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
              xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
              ejb-location="jdbc/TestDS"
              connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
              url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostName:1521:test"
              username="user"
              password="password"
              min-connections="5"
              max-connections="20"
              inactivity-timeout="30"
         />
    When I entered the above data on the Enterprise Manager Data Sources page, I got the following error:
    quote:
    Error saving Data Source Properties. - Entity et="system";ei="0",et="application";ei="48",et="data-sources";ei="167":child:data-sourcechild key:location:jdbc/OracleCoreDS; class:com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource; already exists in the repository. Resolution: Please check the code base.
    unquote:
    Could somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong ?
    I tried to manually edit the data-sources.xml file but the data source didn't show up on the Enterprise Manager.
    I'm using a new OC4J instance (on the Solaris machine) for my applications. Is the data source error related to this?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    Thanks for your reply , Steve.
    I noticed that there is a default datasouce on the EM with the following parameters:
    <data-source
              class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
              name="OracleDS"
              location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
              xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
              ejb-location="jdbc/OracleDS"
              connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
              username="scott"
              password="->pwForScott"
              url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:oracle"
              inactivity-timeout="30"
         />
    The location and xa-location attributes that I use for my "test" data source are the same as the default one. So, could this be the issue?
    What should be the values for location and xa-location attributes from my "test" data source?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Data Source path in Pivot Table changes to absolute on its own

    Hello.
    I have a .XLSX file, that was created long time ago (I don't even know in which Office version, but definitely not 2013), and maybe even was a .XLS file at first.
    So it's a 4 MB file with 16 Sheets and 8 Pivot Tables.
    All of the Pivot Tables use other sheets from the same file as Data Source.
    Data Source for some of them look like this: 'Sheet3'!$A:$E
    Everything is fine when I save the file, and open it from saved file.
    But as soon as I try to move the file elsewhere, or rename it, or email it - all Data Source paths change to something like this: '\Users\Sergii_Litnevskyi\Desktop\New folder\[FileName.xlsx]Sheet3'!$A:$E
    And it happens with all Pivot Tables. The problem is that it links to an old file path, where the file does not exist anymore. And it links to an external file, which is not what I want.
    If I Save As and select different path and filename - then it works fine. So it's a workaround for renaming and moving files, but not for sending them to other persons.
    I've read some threads, and people recommend disabling "Save external link values", but it does not help. It is already turned off in my office, but it keeps acting weird.
    So what I need is: Save the file, close it, rename it, move it to other place, send it over email as attachment. And then I want to have the same Data Source path in my PivotTables as I had before I saved the file. How can I do it?
    My Office version: Microsoft Excel 2013 (15.0.4454.1503) MSO (15.0.4517.1005) 32-bit

    Hi,
    According to your description, I suppose the issue may be caused by some reason.
    Do you link the outside data source?
    I think if the file moves the file elsewhere, or renames, or email,
    data source paths can’t be change.
    But, your data source paths add the absolute path.
    Do you link the outside data source?
    I recommend you zip the file and send it as Email attachment.
    If the issue exists, you may save as it in a new name and test it in another computer.
    Regards,
    George Zhao
    TechNet Community Support
    I am pretty sure that I don't have any external links in the document.
    However, even if I did - why would it change Data Source path for all of the Pivot Tables, when I did not request it?
    I tried zipping it and sending to other person over email, but he got the file with changed data source paths.
    I can even record a short video to show what happens.
    Actually, I just did it. You can see the video here: http://screencast.com/t/qMBild3ck9b
    It is rather big - 23.8 MB.
    Let me explain what I showed there:
    I opened my original file. I showed that there are Pivot Tables, whose Data Sources are in the same file, on various other sheets.
    I showed this for all of the Pivot Tables in the document.
    I saved the file using Save As in a different folder and under a different name (TEST.xlsx).
    I then opened that saved file to show you that it is fine, and the Data Source path for one of the Pivot Tables is the same as it was in original file. It is the same for all of the other Pivot Tables.
    Then I closed, and simply renamed the file to TEST123.xlsx.
    Opened it, and first thing wrong - Security warning.
    Then I got ‘Cannot open PivotTable source file ….’ messages. And, as I showed, now all Data Source paths have been changed to full paths of the file, that was created by Save As (TEST.xlsx) from original file.
