Database back up settings
we are taking backups daily by automatic back up . I like to keep only the current backup .
that's if i taken a back up yesteraday (9/9/2009) , today also going to take the back up ( i like to overwrite the back up )
can i do that setting in SAP
regards
kavitha s
Hi!
This is not a setting.
1. You have to create a New Folder in a Particular Loaction - use command prompt codings to create it.
2. Move the Backup file of previous day to this folder - use command prompt codings to create it.
3. Delete the New Folder - use command prompt codings to create it.
4. Create all the above said coding as a batch file and schedule via system Schedule.

How can I set back phone settings to go from a searched location in safari to apple maps rather than google directions?
Click Here enter destinations, link to page in iWeb or iFrame it by clicking on "Link to Page" from Google map. This may seem ironic but if you are looking for something the best way to find it is by searching Google. For instance Googling "google map directions" will send you to referenced page. for a sub-$20 app I find it hard to believe you find it hard to believe Apple hasn't integrated this feature into the software.
Hope that helps! -
I am currently in Brazil traveling back to NYC tmw. I accidently , .... playing around with my 13 yr old turned on the voice control.voice over (?) and signed in using "portuguese -Brazilian " as the language of choice even though for the past 4 months I had it set to U.S. English. Now it answers only in Music mode, won't move out of it and in a portuguese that sounds more lie martian than any language spoken on earth. How do I re-set the Nano, get out of this config and back to settings. Anyone out there with an answer since I would like to use tmw on the plane ride home - 9.5 hours. Thks to all ////

Hi all,
I am new to database back up. Can anyone explain me what is the difference
between the back up which is taken using db13 in sap and taking back up
directly from sql enterprise server in windows.
Is it possible to do offline and online back up through db13?
Can anyone please suggest me in detail.Sanjeev,
Well, you can't. If you schedule the backup, the BRTOOL set will address this. DB13 really only gives you a 'GUI' interface for the BRTOOLs as well as a scheduling capability. Remember that when you trigger the backup job from DB13, you're not executing this at the SAP level, you're executing this from the OS level via the DBTOOLs - you could schedule the same job at the OS level if you wanted.
If you trigger a BRBACKUP with the option 'offline', it will actually shutdown the database for you, perform the backup, and restart the database (return it to the state when the backup started). SAP itself will not go down per se, but obviously, it will not have connectivity with the database, and users who logon during this time will receive error messages regarding "no connection to database". Most folks, therefore shutdown the SAP system first, then trigger the offline backup.
Hope this helps.

Loaded i06 on my ipad3 and when i try to connect to internet gives me a message that a network can't be found. I have to go back into settings and select my network and i'm good to go as long as i stay on iPad it's good. How do i get my netwokk to stay checked so i don't have to keep resetting it? Never had an issue before update.
Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
or here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

After the changes I have effected while trying to get to know my phone (which was a bad mistake, I will not repeat that for sure!) the touchscreen has changed completely and lost sensitivity. Everything has become very slow and e.g. to get the password in I first have to touch the number for a long moment and then the panel where the point is showed in. Once I get into the phone I cannot get to other screens than the start screen. There, only sometimes I cannot get into the apps. I have managed to open SMS and the browser. The others are just indicated by a voice but I cannot use them.
I hope I can undo the changes by getting back to settings. The problem is: I have no idea how to get back to settings as I cannot get anywhere but to the starting screen...
I am very happy for your help!It seems you have accidentally turned on the experimental accessibility features (namely the screen reader for blind users). I did this on a Flame with v1.4 and it was so buggy I could not get back to settings to turn it off. Depending on what version of Firefox OS you are using - you may be able to get back into Settings to turn off accessibility. The way the navigation works for the screen reader is to swipe right (or left to go back) to have the focus set to a new object on screen, then after the computer reads out the item - you can double tap anywhere on the screen to select it. If you are lucky you can slowly navigate to the Settings and Developer Menu and retoggle the Accessibilty setting off.
If not, then the only way I know (and I'm a Firefox OS newbie) is to re-flash your phone. I got stuck with this and had to reflash version 1.4 over it. This means you will LOSE your data if you do it. I reflashed the phone, a Flame (your mileage may vary with your device), by pressing the Power button + VolumeUp + the Home button until I saw the Thundersoft logo - then you should get a menu which you can select "wipe data/factory reset" and then like 30 sec later phone is fine - but you are back to scratch.
Sorry if this doesn't apply, or if you need to salvage data - perhaps someone more knowledgable can reply? -
After formatting the partition and installing Firefox again, I wanted to get my settings, bookmarks etc. back by syncronising with Firefox Sync but accidentaly settings from a fresh browser was uploaded and now I cannot have the browser the way I used to have. Is there any way to reverse this changes?
Hi zoomy,
First check that you still have data in your sync account.
Firefox button > Options > Sync > Manage Account
It should tell you how much data is stored in the account. Is there any?
If there is still data in the sync account then you can follow the instructions in this article [[What is Firefox Sync?]]. Refer to the 'How much of my data is synced?' section. Change the option to 'Replace all data on this computer with my Sync data'.
I hope that works for you.
If there is no data in your sync account you will be able to get it back by syncing from another computer. Just make sure that the settings on that computer are not replaced by the blank account again. You can use the 'Replace all other devices with this computer's data' option to prevent this.
Please note that Firefox Sync is designed only to sync details between devices not as an online backup tool. If you are formatting a partition it is generally best to backup your profile folder along with any other data. See [[Managing profiles]] for more detail.

Use SQL*Plus to execute SQL, PL/SQL and SQL*Plus statements.
Usage 1: sqlplus -H | -V
-H Displays the SQL*Plus version and the
usage help.
-V Displays the SQL*Plus version.
Usage 2: sqlplus [ [<option>] [{logon | /nolog}] [<start>] ]
<option> is: [-C <version>] [-L] [-M "<options>"] [-R <level>] [-S]
-C <version> Sets the compatibility of affected commands to the
version specified by <version>. The version has
the form "x.y[.z]". For example, -C 10.2.0
-L Attempts to log on just once, instead of
reprompting on error.
-M "<options>" Sets automatic HTML markup of output. The options
have the form:
HTML ON [HEAD text] [BODY text] [TABLE text]
[ENTMAP {ON|OFF}] [SPOOL {ON|OFF}] [PRE[FORMAT] ON]
-R <level> Sets restricted mode to disable SQL*Plus commands
that interact with the file system. The level can
be 1, 2 or 3. The most restrictive is -R 3 which
disables all user commands interacting with the
file system.
-S Sets silent mode which suppresses the display of
the SQL*Plus banner, prompts, and echoing of
commands.
<logon> is: {<username>[<password>][@<connect_identifier>] | / }
[AS {SYSDBA | SYSOPER | SYSASM}] [EDITION=value]
Specifies the database account username, password and connect
identifier for the database connection. Without a connect
identifier, SQL*Plus connects to the default database.
The AS SYSDBA, AS SYSOPER and AS SYSASM options are database
administration privileges.
<connect_identifier> can be in the form of Net Service Name
or Easy Connect.
@[<net_service_name> | [/]Host[:Port]/<service_name>]
<net_service_name> is a simple name for a service that resolves
to a connect descriptor.
Example: Connect to database using Net Service Name and the
database net service name is ORCL.
sqlplus myusername/mypassword@ORCL
Host specifies the host name or IP address of the database
server computer.
Port specifies the listening port on the database server.
<service_name> specifies the service name of the database you
want to access.
Example: Connect to database using Easy Connect and the
Service name is ORCL.
sqlplus myusername/mypassword@Host/ORCL
The /NOLOG option starts SQL*Plus without connecting to a
database.
The EDITION specifies the value for Session Edition.
<start> is: @<URL>|<filename>[.<ext>] [<parameter> ...]
Runs the specified SQL*Plus script from a web server (URL) or the
local file system (filename.ext) with specified parameters that
will be assigned to substitution variables in the script.
When SQL*Plus starts, and after CONNECT commands, the site profile
(e.g. $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/glogin.sql) and the user profile
(e.g. login.sql in the working directory) are run. The files may
contain SQL*Plus commands.
Refer to the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference for more information.

My screen no longer moves with the way I'm holding the iPad. For example if I'm holding it horizontal the screen is vertical. Up unitl now the screen has always moved with the way I was holding the ipad. Is there something in Settings I can do to get this back?
If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left. (IOS 6). For iOS 7, swipe up from the bottom to get to the control center and look for the lock icon in the top row on the right.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button -
How to revert a database back to one day previous state.
Hi,
Of course, if no backup, then no restore.
However, unfortunately there is NO database backup available i.e. export/expdp/OS Backup/RMAN/Flashback. But, the requirement is to prepare another database on another server with one day back state. So, can we take fresh backup of the database which has all the archived logs, and restore it on another server as one day back previous state.
Is there any possible way to do this by using existing archive logs? Can LogMiner help in this regard?
Thanks,

Technically you could get lucky - but I wouldn't want to pretend that the following procedure is sensible or a safe way to back out a production system.
If you have all the archived redo logs since the moment you want to get back to then you could, in principle, copy the database, run up logminer and extract all the UNDO_SQL that it gives you from the present back to the point in time you want to get to. You can then apply this, one transaction at a time, in reverse order of original application.
Problems I can think of:
<ul>
a) It's likely to take a long time to do this, and you'll probably want to have a lot of manual control and checking.
b) If you've done any drop tables or truncate tables in the interval you can't reverse them out.
c) If you've done any nologging dataloads you won't be able to reverse those out
d) There may be some data types that logminer won't cope with
</ul>
Other people may like to supply more reasons why this is not a good idea for a production system - but it might just be good enough to solve whatever problem you have.

shailenderIn a very simple manner, you can shutdown your database and copy all datafiles, control files and log files or you can use Export utility to have an online data export of a user or who~e database.

Hi,
We are doing back up of Sharepoint 2010 using following way:
- Taking back up of all database of Sharepoint 2010 from SQL Server.
Will this be sufficient in case of disaster recovery? OR Microsoft recommend to take Sharepoint farm back.
Regards,
AmitHi Amit,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know the best way we need to back up the databases for SharePoint.
Regularly backing up content databases reduces data losses that might occur from hardware failures, power outages, or other problems.
It is a simple process and helps make sure that all the data is available for recovery, if that is required.
Based on your need, you can choose farm or granular backup for SharePoint.
