Hello,
Right click on the source(data target) and click on the generate export data source, It would create an infosource 8(technical name of the source data target). .
right click the Cube(source cube) then click on "Update Cube data in data target".
Then that will ask you if you have to go for init load, full or delta load. and then it will take you to infopackage, where you can schedule the load.

we want to improve our reporting activities, we have 3 production and relational oracle databases and we want to elaborate 1 database as reporting database with historized and aggregated data responding to our reporting needs.

actually we still are doing query to retrieve informations from databases for reporting purpose, but fropm inetrnet search i know that we can implement datamart or datawarehouse to group all aggregated information for reporting.
The information i need are: is there a tools in Oracle for Datawarehousing, Is Oracle Warehouse Builder is the right tools as the sources of our data are all from Oracle database and some flat files.
Could yo advise what i'm going to use for that kind of reporting needs, can i use Oracle warehosue builder to develop ETL ...

As simple answer to all your questions: YES
Yes, Oracle warehouse builder could be a tool to use.
Yes, Orace warehouse builder needs a license.
Besides that you also need a license for that extra Database.
if you already have that, and you have the queries with which you now retrieve data, you can always choose the cheap way and build materialized views with these queries.
Keep in mind however that a materialized view ( of snapshot ) does not support inline selects.

Hello, I am interested in learning more on this new feature. We have requirements for ServiceItems we are planning on implementing services using SI, but most likely won't occur until we upgrade to 10R2. I have been reading 9.4 documentation for ServiceItems and find it difficult to follow. Are there other sources or resources to assist with learning how to use a serviceitem? How to reset Datamart Status in BI 7.0

Hi,
Data flow:
source system -> DSO1 -> DSO2
I have deleted DTP data request from DSO2 by deleting entries from tables RSICCONT & RSMONICDP. I am not able to delete datamart staus of DSO1. Deletion of datamart status is terminated with following error:
Request DTPR_*** not in list of all requests in ODS2
Please suggest any tables from which i can delete the entry and Datamart status of DSO1 will get reset automatically.

There is no other target than DSO2. the only request loaded is deleted from target.
Do you have any clue about the table which maintains datamart status for DTP load just like RSDMDELTA has information about infopackeage delta loads.

Cube to cube datamart in 3.5

I have built a cube to cube datamart and cannot determine how to initiate the load. When building a datamart with an ODS as the source, it is quite obvious (right-click ODS and select Update ODS Data in Data Target). However, this option does not exist in the case of a cube.
It's a one-time load of some historical data. I don't require scheduling of deltas. Just a single full load.I do however need selectability on a date field to exclude recent data.
Can someone please advise how to initiate this data load?

Hi,
Go to the infosource tab in the RSA1 and search for 8(your infocube technical name).
Eg: if your source infocube 0tct_01 then search for 80tct_c01.
Create an infopackage on the 8.* ICtechnical name and schedule the load. This will load data from your source IC to Target IC.

i am getting good response from u guys.And keeping improving myself through SDN community.And i came with a different question as follows,
we have created datamart from the database,it does not have physical existence.we have created the target tables using data integrator.
Now we use BOXI R3.1 ,created the universe according to the business and generated the reports and dashboards from the datamart.Now whats the problem we are facing is that for generating reports in voyager we short fall of OLAP cube.As voyager can only access OLAP cube not the universe directly like reports.
Now the client have asked why we have not developed the datamart in OLAP cubes.But i replied that for creating universe there is no need of OLAP by using the datamart target tables itself we can create universe and generate reports.
But client says why u have not created in OLAP cube.If i also create which is best method to implement whether MOLAP or ROLAP is best ???
I am trying to convince that ROLAP is best as it can handel large database.
But client is saying if we implement MOLAP performance will be faster....
I have question whether creating universe on the top of OLAP will be faster and make some difference or directly from target tables(datamart-facts & dimension) itself work fine????
I have gone through some of sites telling that Bo is ROLAP tool icon_confused.gif and Cognous is ROLAP tool is that true.....
PLZ Give me some suggestion icon_idea.gif on this....

Inventory management snapshot model using Datamart Interface

Hi,
We have implemented Inventory management NON-CUMULATIVE scenario.
Now for reporting needs we are adding snapshot model and trying to use datamart interface to fill up snapshot cube.
But how to get value of KF say "ZTOTALST" becuase NON-*** cube has only changes stored as "0RECTOTSTCK" and "0ISSTOTSTK". If anyone has implemented or has any ideas on using snapshot model with datamart interface , please help .

Using toad to search for columns in entire datamart

can anyone inform me if it is possible, using toad, to conduct a "quick search" search though an entire datamart for a specific column name and if possible how?
eg: column <pubs_visited incambridge> exists in table <things_to_do_in_cambridge> in a datamart and i want to find out if the column <pubs_visited_in_cambridge> is repeated in another table within the datamart.

tried executing the query with both (DBA_TAB_COLUMNS AND ALL_TAB_COLUMNS) and I have received different results (more results with the dba). apparently, the schema i queried in our datamart, does not contain some of the tables that have been listed using the dba function.
how could it be possible that tables which do not exist in a specified schema get listed when quering using the dba function?

Missing Datamarts in the Infosource Screen

Hi,
I needed to experiment loading from an infocube to another infocube for some re-modeling to be done at the clients side. The problem I am facing is none of the datamart datasources are showing up on the infosources tab. They appear under the BWSystem in the source system tab but cant see them under infosources tab.
I have tried all solutions that I am aware of like Settings -->Display Generated Objects / Select Display Options etc. I find entries in the ROOSOURCE table on the BW side too but cant see it on screen.
Anybody faced a similar problem? I don't know if it has anything to do with transferring application component hierarchy from R/3. That was not done when the initial implementation was done and I have done that too and replicated on the BW side. I am still missing the whole Data Marts Application Component in the infosource tab.
Any ideas anybody? Am I missing something major here??!!Thanks in advance.

BW - APO Datamart datasource migration issue

Hi,
Question : Can we migrate datasources exported as datamart from APO-DP system into BW, from 3.x to 7.0 or does it have to be a 3.x datasource with transfer rules, TS , update rules etc ...
1) I know we cannot migrate data marts with 8* or //8 but this datamart is replicated from our APO-DP system and begins with 9*.

My problem is that I am getting error message "No transfer structure available for infosource 9* in source system" when I run the infopkg to load in PSA ( which is default for 7.0 datasources).
This is the dataflow l I wanted to have which replaces old model as shown :
NEW 7.0 dataflow : Datasource -->infopkg --> psa --> dtp -->transformation --> cubes ( same source feeds 3 cubes ) .
OLD 3.x dataflow : DS >Infosource>Transfer rules--> infopkg --> update rules --> cubes.

Design Steps for logical modeling of Dimensional DataMart

Hi
begin to understand the process off building
a Data warehouse off of an OLTP database. So thought I would put down the steps
involved (as I understand them) for clarity. Dose this look right? is there anything im missing?
Step 1 - Determine the dimensions
create a
business matrix that identifies the dimension and there relations with each
other
Step 2 - Detarmine the measures
set out the numeric
values required for analysis
Step 3 - Determine the dimensions
attributes
identify elements that would be used to filter or group data
for analysis
Step 4 - Create a Data map
map out source and
destination columns between the OLTP source and each dimension and facts
table
Step 5 - Include a Date dimension
almost every datamart
has one this can be scripted
any advice welcome.

Beside Leo N's answer which is correct, I would modify step 4 a bit to add some general info on how the data will be cleansed, if needed, during the mapping process (usually done with the help of SSIS).

Datamart management from cube to external system via XI

Dear All,
I upload data to another external system via XI from an infocube.
Data upload is done with delta update to the cube, also, deltas going to the external system.,,
I have two cubes. One of them is filled with deltas by transformation (i.e 7.0 property). But other is filled with update rules (i.e 3.5 property)..
when i click on data mart status on the cube that filles with 3.5 property nothing happens. No pop-up screen opens for me to delete the datamart status of the cube.
However, when i click on the cube that filles with 7.0 property, a pop-up screen opens for me to reset last delta.
Can you please advise?

Adding Proxy Servers
Use the Summary of Proxy Servers page to add and configure Proxy Server resources and make them available in Oracle Service Bus as a system resource. You must be in an active session to configure or reconfigure Proxy Server resources.
1. If you have not already done so, click Create to create a new session or click Edit to enter an existing session. See Using the Change Center.
2. Select System Administration > Proxy Servers.
3. Click Add.
4. In the Name field, enter a name for the Proxy Server resource. This is a required field.
5. In the Description field, enter a short description for the Proxy Server resource.
6. In the Host-Port Parameters section, enter the following information:
1. In the Server Host field, enter the host name or IP address of the Proxy Server. This is a required field.
The Server Host name for the Oracle Service Bus proxy server must be identical to the server host name of the actual proxy server.
2. In the Clear Text Port field, enter the Proxy Server clear-text port number.
3. In the SSL Port field, enter the Proxy Server SSL port number. You must enter either a clear text or SSL port number.
4. Click Add.
You can configure multiple Proxy Servers for each Proxy Server resource. This enables Oracle Service Bus to perform load balancing and offer fault tolerance features for the Proxy Server resource.
7. If the Proxy Server performs proxy authentication, enter a user name in the User Name field, and the associated password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
These fields are optional, and required only if the Proxy Server is secured.
8. Click Save to create and save the Proxy Server resource in the current session.
9. To end the session and deploy the configuration to the run time, click Activate under Change Center.

Datawarehouse with dependent datamarts

Hello Everyone,
Could you please guide me on how to
1)Create a datawarehouse with a focus to create dependent datamarts on top of it
2)Simplest procedure to load the dtawarehouse to these datamarts
3)Can I have multiple fact tables in the dtawarehouse with each fact table and set of dimensions catering to datamart?
4)Additionally can we load data directly into these datamarts without loading them to Datawarehouse?
Any reference material to deal with this scenario would be highly appreciated

Hi,
not to use a central datawarehouse causes several BIG problems. You will build cubes for a specific department and cannot integrate them including their etl processes for other departements. Larissa Moss calls it 'swim lanes'! I would never do this, it's a low level of maturity for a dwh. This was done some years ago! Golden rule: Think big, start small. You can build cubes without building the complete enterprise model for your whole company. Just model the parts you need for your project - but think about that it must fit for other departments too.
And try to put all department specific logic in the load processes from the dwh to the data marts. Then you can reuse all data and load processes of your dwh to build some data marts for other departments. If you load data marts straight ot of the source the data marts for other departments (which can have only some small changes to the existing ones) must be build from the scratch. You will have much dedundant code, a really bad architecture, too much process flows, ...
