DataSource Enhancements : Maximum Fields

Dear Friend,
How many fields we can add to DataSource to Enhance ( Maximum Fields), I heard if it is more then 20 fields it is not good, but please let me know the correct one.
I found some Master Data TEXT/Description fields also enhanced in 2LIS_13_VDITM, if any Special Chars will come in the Data loads, then there may be huge problem, is it right?. please help me.

Hi Ganga,
As far as my Knowledge goes , from a DDIC prespespective you can add as many fields as possible to the extract structure. The only limitation would be that imposed by the underlying Database.
Even if you add 20 extra fields I do'nt think there should not be any problem if you get all these values using one select statement. But if more than one select statement is used , performance would surely go down.
What I mean is that if out of the 20 fields , if 10 are to be read from table 1 and 3 are to be read from table 2 and remaning are to be read from table 3. then this would require two inner joins(if there exists a common key field) otherwise it would require three different select statements. In either case the performanc would come down.

I want to enhance following fields in Data Source: 2LIS_13_VDITM / 2LIS_12_VCITM / 2LIS_11_VAITM.
a) Billing date FPLT- AFDAT
b) Billing Value FPLT- FAKWR
I am not able to find the connecting field in between the table : FPLT and above mentioned data sources. But this is a client requirement. Please advice me the solution.

I am seeing FAKSP Billing Block in the datasource and I think with this you can connect the FPLT Table which is Billing Planning Table.

Enhanced 3 fields unavailable in BI after DS enhancement

I did datasource enhancement in R/3 to add 3 fields into DS "0FI_GL_4". Then I go to RSA6 to click unhide for those 3 fields, activate DS. And then I put coding in CMOD. After that I replicate DS to BW system. I found those 3 fields are existing in DS, but the Transfer check box show uncheck for those 3 fields. That mean those 3 enhanced fields are still unavailable in BI. Does anybody know the reason for that?

Find the Exact exits and badis for ur requirement.
How to fine the exact badi:
1) Goto se24 (Display class cl_exithandler)
2) Double click on the method GET_INSTANCE.
3) Put a break point at Line no.25 (CASE sy-subrc).
Now
4) Execute SAP standard transaction
5) Press the required button for which you need to write an exit logic, the execution will stop at the break point.
6) Check the values of variable 'exit_name', it will give you the BADI name called at that time.
7) This way you will find all the BADIs called on click of any button in any
transaction

Different ways to Datasource Enhancement

I know DS enhancement can be done through ABAP Statement CASE,ENDCASE,WHEN. I came to know that this is old technique to enhance the datasource as it makes the code quite messy if several developers work on the same code.
I came across one document on SDN where we create a new program for each datasource which is independent from other enhancement.
I just want to know how this program works and the difference between this technique and old technique as i have limited ABAP knowledge.
What are the exact challenges that we come across when we use CASE,ENDCASE,WHEN statements.

Hi Murli,
1) Datasource enhancement previously was done using CMOD Still many organizatins continue with this approach.
Here you can get option to write code for your appended field in ur Standard datsource where you can write select statements etc.
2) Now SAP is recommending to Write Codes using BADI .this approach helps to maintain individual implementations for each data source enhancement
This methods advantage over previous CMOD method is that ,in CMOD a single include will contain all the ABAP coding (this will create problem in marinating the versions for developers).specially while you are transporting the CMOD code to test and prod systems.
With the new BADI method you can avoid this problem as individual implementations can be transported independently without creating conflicts.

Problem in datasource enhancement

Hi All,
Facing a problem in datasource enhancement.
In R/3 SAP ABAP release = 640 and
BW release = 350.
Datasource: 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR
I enhanced the datasource by adding an append structure with 'ZZ' fields.The data elements for these fields are SAP standard (like KUNNR,VKORG etc...)
Everything's active and there are no inconsistencies.
However these added fields are not visible either in the RSA6 maintenance or in RSA3 checker.
Hence I am unable to replicate these fields and pull them over to BW.
Please advise.

The problem is not with hiding/unhiding these fields.
The appended fields themselves are not coming up through the RSA6 maintenance. They are not available for unhiding.

Creating BADI for datasource enhancement in CRM system

Hi Kushal,
You can find the BADI name by,
Go to Transaction SE24
Enter the Object Type CL_EXITHANDLER and click on Display.
Double Click on method "GET_INSTANCE".
Put a Break-point on Call method cl_exithandler=>get_class_name_by_interface
Run RSA3 transaction and execute the DataSource.
The execution will stop at the break point.
Check the values of variable 'exit_name', it will give you the BADI name called at that time.

How to enhance the fields into xml schema?

Hi Expert,
We are at SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP02, we enhanced two fields in the contract data which were transfered from the SRM via xml. But when the MDM import manage do the mapping between the xml file and MDM catalog items automatically, it will bring a exception with the mapping error. The error message is "Logon Error: Source file dose not conform to XML schema. Element <field name> not found in the xml schema."
How could I add these fields to xml schema?

Did changing the Name of the Schema in the console to be the same as the Name of the Schema file solve the problem.
I take it you used the output file with the custime fields to create the Schema file so as to have a consistent structure.

Internal Tables as Dynamic Data Objects
Data objects that are defined either with the data type of an internal table, or directly as an internal table, are always fully defined in respect of their line type, key and access method. However, the number of lines is not fixed. Thus internal tables are dynamic data objects, since they can contain any number of lines of a particular type. The only restriction on the number of lines an internal table may contain are the limits of your system installation. The maximum memory that can be occupied by an internal table (including its internal administration) is 2 gigabytes. A more realistic figure is up to 500 megabytes. An additional restriction for hashed tables is that they may not contain more than 2 million entries. The line types of internal tables can be any ABAP data types - elementary, structured, or internal tables. The individual lines of an internal table are called table lines or table entries. Delta functionality for LO datasource 2LIS_06_INV for enhanced Z fields

Hi Experts,
We have enhanced standard data source 2LIS_06_INV by appending some Z fields. When we are doing full load values are getting populated for the entire Z field but when we are running delta request, values for some Z fields are not getting populated.I have put the code to extract the value for Z fields in user exit under include ZXRSAU01.
If any one have faced this isuue , Please help me out .

Ur error is a very common error
need not panic
this can be solved
check whether all the v3 jobs are maintained properly or not
check whether the datasource is in active status or not

Business content datasource enhancement

Hi Experts,
I am new to HR.
We are implementing HR modules Personnel development and Personnel administration, while I was looking into business content extractors 0HR_PA_0 and OHR_PA_1, I found that there were only few fields in the extract structure but there were many fields in the cube.Do we need to enhance the datasources? how it works?. If anybody did the enhancement to these datasources, please give me the information with examples.

No, it is no necesary to enhance standard data sources. Those datasources extract, basically employee and date. Most infoobjects in cube are calculated from 0PERSON and 0EMPLOYEE attributes, having in count the date and employed extracted, because most in HR is time dependent.
