Dates in project definition
Dear All
When i am creating the project definition i am giving finish date.After scheduling is carried out for networking and for WBS.In networking and in wbs i am getting the st.date&fi.date but i am not getting the st.date in project definition.So what i have to do in IMG for getting the st.date in project definition

Hi Pratap
Be note that overlapping of WBSe dates is almost possible and can be done.
However, scdeduling of a project shall certainly depend on the following which may give error or may not give error if we follow the correct procedure accordingl to settings and selection scheduling methods.
Wish to through some light on this topic.
You may be aware that there are different types of scheduling scenarios and methods are being adopted for planning and scheduling of projects in PS.
There are three methods we adopt for scheduling of Projects. They are
1. Top Down
The dates for scheduling are passed down from PD to lower lever objects ie WBS and activities
2. Bottom Up
The dates for scheduling are passed from lower level hierarchy to higher lever objects of Proejcts ie either activity dates or wbs dates to higher level and so on to PD level.
3. Free Scduling
In this case users can set the scheduling scenarios as they wish and accordingly system does its functionality.
Users must specify planning methods for planning using basic dates and forecast dates for WBS elements and not to activities.
Scheduling methods for WBS elements are
1. Top Down
2. Bottom up
3. Strict Bottom up
4. Open planning
In your case if you choose top down scheduling, lower level objects datets shall be adjusted to highler objects like higher level WBS or Project Definition.
In your case if you choose bottom up scheduling, the lower level object dates are passed on and to higher level.
One thing you have to remember here is, selection of scheduling parameters differs from pre-defined scheduling parameter, obviously system will give an error.
Therefore, you should be careful while defining your scheduling parameters while configuration and selection of scheduling paramters should match together. In such considitions no error. otherwise system will give an error if mismatch of scheduling parameters exists.
Coming to your query and requirement, u have to decided how to go about and in what way u want to execute your project. with error or without error.

Finish Date in the Project Definition / Network Header

When I am creating project through CJ20N, system by default putting current date as finish date. for both project definition and network header.
How can I make it start date.

Abdul.Check out your project, is it created before you change these configuration parameters. In normal circumstances, it should work.
Sorry I misunderstood, if you want system to ask you to put the start date enter scheduling type in both transactions as 'forward scheduling'.

Project Definition Satr and end date
Hello
I have cretaed project with WBSE and Network Activities . Designed for Forward scheduling . The steps are as follows :-
1.After creating the Project Definition , system will provide start date i.e today's date.
2. After Creating Network activities with duration and providing relationships between the activities , then schedule the Project .
3. After scheduling the Project , end date of the project can be seen in the Project definition .
Issue is as follows :-
after confirming the activity , and reschedule the project , system is changing Project Definition start date as well as end date .
required start date should be fixed and end date should be changed according to confirmation of avctivity .
Can u pls suggest what settings are needed .

Please verify the value that is maintained for field 'Plan.meth/basic' on the control tab of the project definition (Planning Dates). It should be Top Down (using this method whenever a project is saved the system automatically checks the dates within the project structure, if time scheduling is not consistent then the project cannot be saved).

Arti.Hello Arti,
the system sets this status when there is a problem with the replication. For example, in the customizing of your project type (accounting area) you have defined the type of transfer as 'Automatic as of release of project'.
Now, for example, you have a project that has status 'Created - Transferred - Data Transfer Not Up-To-Date - Assigned', this means that the replication is not yet complete because according to the customizing setting you need to release the project first.

BAPI to Upload Sold to Party on Project Definition in Data Migration
Hello All,
I want to migrate around 900 project definitions from legacy system to SAP
I have activated partner determination procedure for our project profile and also want to upload Sold-to-party (customer number) on project fefinition
I am using BAPI "BAPI_PROJECTDEF_CREATE" to upload project definitions where I could not find field for Sold-to-party
Is there any other BAPI for project defnition which can upload this field or otherwise how to upload this particular data

You can make use of the CNEX0006 PS customer specific fields project definition and add Customer Number (Sold to Party) as a field. Then use the BAPI_PROJECTDEF_CREATE and update the customer number accordingly at Proj. Defn level.

Field "created on" is not delivered in the standard reports.
Sunil's suggestion is quite a good option. You can also consider adding the field
to your report's layout by means of a modification. In note 43493 you will find all the necessary steps and details to do so.

How to populate WBS element and Project definition in Additional Tab
Hi,
I have a 2 requirements
1) we need to populate WBS element and Project definition of an order in PM
IW 32 trasnaction (Additional data tab).
2)Also i need to program settlement rules in CJ02 for WBS elements .
How do i approach ? when i do manually it is taking the values in IW 32 when the status is released.
So i think first we need to chnage the Status from Created to released and then start working on step 1 and Step 2

Using Eclipse project definitions to build the Flex SDK
It would be great if someone from Adobe could post on the recommended usage of the Eclipse project definitions in the development/eclipse/ subdirectory of the 3.0.x trunk distribution. I would like to debug some compiler modifications that I am working on.
I saw Peter Farland demo this setup at 360Flex, but was unable to capture all the details of the Eclipse configuration that he discussed in his talk.
thanks!If you go to the framework project’s properties, there is a section called Flex Library Compiler, you want to use a specific flex sdk (add a new sdk which points to the trunk, and use that) — you are probably building /against/ the wrong sdk, right code, wrong compiler.

Try changing the sdk for the framework lib project to trunk (you'll need to add a new flex sdk, name it whatever you want) -- it's in the project properties. It's using the wrong compiler.

http://3.3.2.> I checked out the whole SDK trunk and can build the main ant task with no errors. I used the instructions mentioned above to create a Flex framework library project and thats where the error comes in. (I had tried to manually build a framework project a few times and it was a nightmare.) I would probably prefer to work on the 3.0.x branch/tag as I hope to submit a patch or two but saw Joe mention that the project defs only existed in the trunk.
Searching Google for the oem error turns up lots of links about projects that had assets deleted and the build got confused but following the instructions on how to fix proved unsuccessful.

I always forget what that error means when it comes up -- though it's been ages since I've seen it last, literally.
Joe: Since you mention Java 1.5, I'm guessing the errors are in the asdoc package? Those should be turned off (read: turned into a warning) -- Eclipse is a little too persnickety about that particular error. There's a preference for this in the Java section under warnings and errors. It's turned off in the trunk dev projects. Otherwise, you should be able to run the compiler directly with no problems (okay, one more caveat: there's a class loader issue with the OEM, fixed in trunk if you look for my Java 1.5 checkin).
Ben: What is your setup? What are you building (Ryan mentions trunk, Joe mentions 30x), which Eclipse, which dev projects, did you build the sdk from the commandline first, etc.?

CADO Report - Missing Project Definition and WBS elements
While running CADO (time sheet data) report for employee, data is not being pulled up for the WBS Element and Project Definition. What could be the reason? Here time is entered against a network activity but for some entries WBS element and project definition is dispalyed and for remaining it is not.
Yes....these activities are assigned to the WBS element in the project. As I mentioned earlier for the same activity in some cases WBS element is populated.

Needs the table from which "project definition" field is to be extracted

As a requirement in BW, we have to add the new field project definition in the BW cube 0COOM_C02(description of the cube:- CO-OM: Costs and Allocations Project (Delta Extraction)).For this, we have to add the same in all the data sources related to this cube.
Data sources under this cube are:
0CO_OM_CCA_9 (Cost Centers: Actual Costs Through Delta Extraction)
Take any one of the data source and search that in the R/3 side tcode RSA6, double click and you will find the entire structure (fields) for that data source.Double click the extract structure appearing above it to find the technical details of each field.
Now we have to add the field project definition in the data source.For extracting the same, we have to write the logic which will extract the value of project field from a table.
We dont have any problem in writing the code but
Our requirement is that during coding, from which table we should extract the value ? and also on what basis?(means what should be the selecting criteria for populating that field) .

Partner Function in Project Definition Level
Hi All
I understand that it is possible to determine what are the partner functions available to the project based on the value indicated in the partner determination field of the project. The list of partner functions to be available are maintained in SPRO.
However, is it possible to configure the system in such a way that when a project is created the following also happens:
1. List of partner functions and users are created automatically at the project definition level according to the project type used.
Appreciate if anybody can advice on this.

Custom Fields added to Project Definitions transaction (CN42N)
In the Project Definitions Overview transaction (CN42N), it was requested that we add custom fields to table PROJ. The fields added were Responsible Analyst Name/Analyst No. and Responsible Accountant Name/Accountant No. We have created two Z tables, one for the Responsible Accountant info, and one for the Responsible Analyst info. These Z tables have been populated with the necessary data, no problems. The Issue is that in table PROJ, only the Responsible Account No., and Responsible Analyst No. is displayed, and not their respective Names. Why are they populated in the Z table but not in table PROJ?

First thing is when your are saving number are you also saving description from your Ztable to proj table zfields for description? For this I assume you have also added description field in PROJ table.
Also I am wondering why you want to store description in PROJ table. You have number in PROJ table and when ever or where ever you want you can pick description from Ztable. This will help to maintain consistency in logng term.
Say for example today you have description ABC PQR XYZ in Ztable and while saving this description will be saved in PROJ. Later due to some reaosn you changed description to ABC UVW PQR in Ztable. Now you see the description will be different in PROJ and Ztable. Hence I would just maintain number in Proj and get description always from Ztable. Hope this makes sense.

I have reviewed the customizing and I cannot find anything missing.
Just to add some more information, if I go to the controlling cockpit, select the "Definition could not be created" error, and click in the autocheck option the PS project IS correctly created!!!
Do you have any ideas on this or on how can I track down the root error?

Formatting a field in the repetitive area of the Print Layout Design
