Debt Extension Cost in Fixed Assets

Hi,
Could someone please explain Debt Extension Cost in Fixed Assets?
thanks.
S.Sriram

Hi,
You isolate assets where an amortized adjustment is made by checking fa_transactions_headers where (transaction_subtype = 'AMORTIZED' OR transaction_key = 'UA'). Any asset/book combination that meets that has an amortized adjustment. Since one can't make any expensed adjustments after an amortized adjustment, you don't have to check for a specific transaction. Just check where the condition exists.

  • UDF for monitoring Repair cost of fixed assets

    Hi All,
Can you guide me how to populate a UDF at Invoice level with information from Fixed Assets (Add-on) Master? I am trying to monitor repair costs for existing fixed assets. My client wants to see how much repair cost has been incurred against a particular fixed asset.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Asim,
If you can query Fixed Assets Master directly, yon could create UDF just like other UDF under Marketing Documents Title.  A FMS then can be used to get the data from the related table.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Actually they are not going to standard reports as Revaluation amount we are creating User defined fields and that needs to be fetched to the report. As well they want original cost, depreciation original cost, Revaluation amount and depreciation on revaluation separately..
As per my understand system will provide one cost and the depreciation on that.
So, can somebody help me in guiding me..
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,

  • Usages a fixed assets

    Hi
The company has fixed assets and we want to charge the cost of fixed assets usage to a project. What do you recommend us?
    Thanks.
    Edited by: user1076895 on 21/07/2010 06:22 PM

Well, what version of EBS are you on? I ask because in R12 Oracle has come out with a new module called Oracle Asset Tracking. This new module has some integration to Oracle Projects. We are still on EBS 11i, so have no personal experience with this new module. Since this is a new module, I suspect very few Oracle customers are using it so far. If you are on EBS 12, you might want to investigate this. I certainly will not say this is something that will work for your specific requirements.
For us, it does not help us. Oracle certainly has a deficiency in its ERP software in that it lacks any kind of equipment billing/equipment accounting module. I can tell you what we are doing. Our prior (to Oracle) ERP software had a pretty decent Equipment Billing/Accounting module. Was not perfect, but it worked pretty well. We could charge jobs for rental equipment by the day, week, or month. We could sell our jobs consumable materials through the order processing capability. We went live on Oracle on January 1, 2008 (talk about a painful process). We are still using our old ERP software to do our equipment cost and revenue processing. We extract on a monthly basis (billing done at end of month) the cost and revenue charges for the month into an Excel Spreadsheet and then load that spreadsheet into Oracle, going into expenditure batches. The expenditure type is USG (usage) and we have various non-labor resource values used, depending on the location (we have warehouses/yards in a couple of different U.S. cities).
We are still looking for a replacement for the old ERP software. Any such replacement would be non-Oracle software. So we would still need to interface that software to Oracle Project Costing.
In the old software, the equipment master was separate from the assets master. But certainly for many of the equipment items, they would also be an asset and getting depreciated (for example, a construction crane, that we would rent to jobs, and since own would be an asset that we would depreciate).
Why don't you ask your Oracle sales rep what he would recommend? Would be interesting to see what he tells you.

    Naveed,
Landed cost only supports inventory item in current system design.  You need to do it manually for Fixed Asset.

  • Standard report to check total cost (WIP) or before transfer to fixed asset

    Hi All,
Is there any standard report to check total cost work in progress (WIP) or cost before we transfer to FXA (fixed asset)
    Please advice.
    Thank you.
    Nies

    Hi,
You can use the report RKA_SETTLE_TABLES_COMPARE for finding the WIP awaiting settlement. You need tp pass object number for executing this report. For getting the object number, you can use report:RKACSHOW.
If useful, please close the posting.

Kindly give me your valuable input
    regards
    elango

    Hi,
Although i am not CO expert , please check with your FICO consultant who are expert before make the final call.
During settlement to a G/L account or a fixed asset, the system ignores additional account assignments that were manually specified in the distribution rule.
Based on what i know .
you can stipulate that settlement may be made to cost centers and orders, but not to fixed assets.
The Settlement profile is something that you need to create a settlement rule to settle the actual costs of a sender object.
About the Settlement rule is something that  contains the distribution rules for the sender. It will define how the way to settle the cost.
    Allocation Structure
In the settlement structure you combine the primary and secondary cost elements into groups, in which debits are then posted to the sender objects. For each group, you specify whether (for settlement to a given receiver type) settlement is performed
by cost element or using a settlement cost element.
For example, you might use settlement cost elements:
To document the purpose of an order (such as, repairs or maintenance)
To reduce data volumes (you can combine a number of debit cost elements
    under one settlement cost element).

  • Importing the (active) Fix Asset with ◦Accumulated ordinary depreciation to Sap Business One 9

    Hi all,
I'm trying to upload the  Active Fix Asset to the SBO (no new).
    for example:
    item:                          FixAsset
    Useful life :                48 (month)
    Remaining Life:        12 (month)
    APC(Historical cost): 10000
    Accumulated Ordinary Depr.: 7500
    So  Value Balance: 1500
and Life Balance :     12 month
I have tried to Import active ITEM  by Excel ,follow this link : Importing Fixed Asset Master Data from Microsoft Excel - SAP Business One 9.0 - SAP Library
every time recieve the message :
Cannot import asset "fixasset"; a new asset's useful life and remaining life must be the same in depreciation area "AFA"

    Hi,
    Please check SAP note:
2001876 - The system does not consider the Salvage Value nor the
Remaining Book Value when you import assets

  • Fixed Asset calculates extra period for Depreciation

    Hi All,
I have imported the Fixed Asset for 2007B for the Year 2010. while checking the import, i notice that the system calculates an additional period for depreciation.
    Here is my scenario :
    a. Asset Cost = 15,863.12 (purchased on 31-May-2007).
    b. Useful Life = 36
    c. Remaining Life = 4
The above are displayed according to import file.
At the Depreciation Tab, there are 5 rows of planned depreciation calculated. Period 01 to Period 05.
How can the system calculates 5 periods when there is only 4 remaining periods for the asset?
This happens to all the assets being imported.
    Please advise.
    Jessie

    Further information.
The Net Book value = 1762.94
    with Accumulated Depreciation = 14100.18.
So the remaining 4 periods should be calculated as = 440.735 (per month for 4 months).
but it is displayed as 352.59 per month for 5 months.
The Fixed Asset is setup as Monthly Basis.
Using Straight Line Mehtod = Net Book Value / remaining life.

  • Fixed Asset Book Report

When running the Fixed Asset Book report, the system shows every instance of an asset number. By that I mean that when and asset has changed locations the asset shows in the report in both locations with a value of zero in one location. This makes using this report for NBV reconciliations to the GL very difficult as I need to find ways of tracking and eliminating the duplicates before I can even begin.
Is there a way to get the report to provide the data only in the current locations or is there a differant report I can use that provides a NBV at a period end broken out by cost and accumulated depreciation.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Fixed Asset: Current Year Depreciation

    Dear Experts,
Previously, fixed assets was managed manually in an excel sheet and depreciation was calculated manually in the excel sheet.
My client wants to start using the FA Addon in March. I managed to import all the fixed asset master data with its Cost, Acc. Depn and NBV. They all tally with the GL balances as at 31.12.2010 which is the last day of the accounting year.
However, I have problem with the current year accumulated depn figure. When I run depreciation for Jan-Feb, the figure does not tally with the GL balances as at 28.02.2011.
    For example:
    Fixed Asset Cost: $5,859.00
    In SAP B1
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
Planned monthly depreciation: $162.77  <-- Not sure how B1 get this figure
Therefore, accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011 = $325.54
    Manual via Excel
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
    Accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011=  ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
How do I get the current year depreciation to tie with the GL?

    Hi Joyce,
I understand the issue you are facing is that
accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by Fixed assets addon) = $325.54,
    but
    accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by excel)= ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
you want to know how system calculate the accumulated depreciation as $325.54?
in order to make it clear,
please let me know how did you define the FA master data, such as the net book value, useful life, remaing life and so on.
Please check the FA master data->general tab and calculation tab,as it is not possible to attach the screenshot to show the relevant data, please log a SAP message for the further assistance.
    Kind regards,
    Eleven

  • Fixed asset import

    Hi,
I understand the FA import only allow us to import starting from the beginning of the financial year (e.g. Jan 2010).
My question is what about fixed asset purchased after Jan 2010. My customer is going live on 1 Jul 2010. Does it mean they have to key in manually?
For asset purchased before Jan 2010, my depreciation start date should be Jan 2010, and the useful life should be equal to the remaining life. Do I need to date back my accumulated depreciation back to Jan 2010?
    Thanks.

There is a SAP note containing a work around whereby assets can be imported for the current financial year, you should find it by searching the self help.
For the system to calculate the correct book value, you should import the original cost and the accumulated depreciation to date

  • How to import Fixed Asset Master File

    Hi all expert,
I used BAMasterDataImportFile to import the Fixed Asset. But the message as below appear :
"Import end;Number of successfully imported assets: 0;Number of processed assets:2"
After complete import the fixed asset master files still empty. May i know anybody can advise me for import fixed asset files?
    Thank for help.
    From:
    Eric Tan

    Hi Eric,
Please refer your error with the possible reasons below (from SAP notes):
Error message: "Import End; Number of imported assets:0; Number of processed asset:2"
Reason: Note that there is no error. It is usually because of the conflict of Depr. Start Date , Use Life and Remaining Life.
The following is a list of possible errors:
    1. Fixed Asset in Production Mode -- Make sure Fixed Asset is in Transfer mode before importing.
    2. The number of semicolons for each line is not 66 -- For each line, each field must be separated by a semicolon(, the number of separators( should be 66.  Number( = 66.
    3. Wrong Date Format DD-MM-YYYY or MM-DD-YYYY -- The correct date formats should be : YYYYMMDD, YYYY-MM-DD, YYYY.MM.DD or YYYY/MM/DD
    4. Asset Class unavailable -- The asset class in your csv file does not exist in Fixed Assets; make sure the used asset classes are defined in Fixed Assets before importing.
    5. Depr. Type unavailable -- The given depreciation type does not exist in Fixed Assets, make sure the used depreciation type is defined in Fixed Assets before importing.
    6. Depr. Area unavailable -- You entered data for a depreciation area that does not exist. If there are only 2 depreciation areas in Fixed Assets do not enter data for area 3 or 4.
    7. Depr. Area is inactive for asset class  -- You entered data in the csv file for an area that is not active for the given class in Fixed Assets.
    8. Life parameter is negative or the remaining life is greater than planned life -- All life parameters should be positive, the remaining life should be less than the planned life
Life Parameters(Depr. Start Date, Useful Life and Remaining Life) are mathematically incorrect for one of the areas in csv. Remaining life = Useful life - (the difference between the first date of import year and depreciation start date). Note that it is not the difference between import date(the date you import Fixed Asset Master Data) and depreciation start date. You must calculate the remaining life correctly. For example, you want to import an asset in 2005, you import it on 2005-09-01 ,then the first date of the import year is 2005-01-01, Depr. Start Date = 2003-06-01, Useful Life = 60 months, then
          Remaining Life = 60 - (2005-01-01 - 2003-06-01) = 60 - 19 = 41 months.
          The following calculation is wrong:
          Remaining Life = 60 - (2005-09-01 - 2003-06-01) = 60 - 27 = 33 months
Import Fixed Asset for the current fiscal year -- The fixed asset master data import function is designed for legacy data importing. We recommend you to import fixed asset master in the past years. If you insist on importing an asset for the current fiscal year, make sure the depreciation start date is the first date of current fiscal year and the Remaining Life is the same as the Useful Life.
Year Values -- the sum of the accumulated depreciation (planned, unplanned and special depreciation) in the csv file is greater than the acquistion and production costs.
Also, don't forget to change the fixed asset mode to transfer. Administration>System initialization>Company Details> Basic initialization tab.
    Hope this helps.

  • Credit Note in Fixed Assets add-on

    Hi experts,
I really do not understand how Credit Note is working in this add-on.
    Depreciation(accounting impact):
    Dr                                                                                Cr
    510000 - Depreciation (Personal Computers)        110000 - Personal Computers
So, for my Credit Note is a little bit differen(I am using Credit Note without Vendort:
I want the Credit Note to perform as following:
    Dr                                                                         Cr
    110000 - Personal Computers             510000 - Depreciation (Personal Computers)
My G/L setting in Fixed Assers add-on:
Balance Sheet of Asset Acc. Cost - 110000
Clearing - (for this account,  I have tried placing 110000 and 510000)
    Ordinary Depreciation Acc. - 510000
    But, it does not work.
    Please advice on that.

    Hi Gordon,
I thought this account was for Credit Note purposes but it wasn't.
So, for 1st scenario I tried putting 110000 and then I made a Credit Note without Vendor thought of debiting back depreciated amount into my fixed asset account and crediting the depreciated amount in my depreciation account. The result was unfavorable, it worked out the same way as I did for depreciating my assets:
    Dr                                                                    Cr
    510000 - Depreciation Account                     110000 - Fixed Assets Account
In fact, for 2nd scenario I tried replacing 110000 in Clearing Account with 510000 thought of achieving my goal below:
    Dr                                                                    Cr
    110000 - Fixed Assets Account                     510000 - Depreciation Account
But the outcome was same exactly as 1st scenario.
How can I produce the goal in 2nd scenario, please advice.
    Thank you.
