Deleting mail on pop server does not delete mail on phone

I have two Andoid phones:
1. My Personal Samsung Galaxy Note/AT&T
2. My Employers Motorola Droid RAZR/Verizon
They are both running Android 4.0.4. I have set up pop mail on both. My personal ISP is X/O and a pop3 account. I typically have it deliver mail to Outlook at my home and turn off Outlook to read mail when away. The first phone correctly reconciles the delete of the mails delivered to Outlook and no longer on the server. The Verizon Droid does not delete the mail from the phone when it is gone from the server. I deleted and readded the pop account and experience the same behavior. How do I get the phone to delete the mail that has been removed from the server?
Since it is a company phone but a personal e-mail account I am not sure where to get support.

I found that there was a slight time lapse from when I managed a message on my iPhone (with .Mac) to when it showed the same status on my Mail.app (.Mac). For example, I deleted a message directly from my Inbox (iPhone) and it moved to trash. But it took about 2 minutes for that same message to show up in my trash on my machine. It just sat as a new, unread message on my laptop and then suddenly during the next send/receive interval it was put into the trash (still marked as unread, though).
Have you allowed any sort of time lapse? Or are you viewing the webmail view of your .Mac account simultaneously as your actions on the iPhone?

I've noticed that when I delete mail on my iPone in my .Mac account that it does not show as deleted when going to webmail.mac.com. I see the messages still in my inbox AND in the trash.
Any ideas why this is not synching?
    Thanks.

If you want your mail delivered properly the Official Host Name of the sending server should match the PTR (reverse DNS) of the sending IP Address, and there should be an "A" record that matches the OHN as well.
    Example:
mail.yourdomain.com (Official Host Name) on 123.123.123.123
PTR for 123.123.123.123 should match mail.yourdomain.com
There should be an A record in yourdomain.com pointing to 123.123.123.123

  • Deleting parent entity of oneToMany does not delete children first,

I have two entities related with a bi-rdirectional OneToMany relationship. When I delete the parent, I want eclipseLink to automatically delete the child entities first before deleting the parent entity. I have implemented what I understand all the documents are telling me I should implement, but I can not get it working.
When I try and delete the parent I get an SQLException as the foreign key constraint has been violated as there are child records for the parent I am trying to delete. It was my understanding, that if you have all the annotations correct on my Entities, then all i have to do is delete the parent and eclipseLink will delete the children first and therefore i should never get the SQL exception.
Here is some snippets of my code.

"optional=false" only affects DDL generation, not runtime JPA behavior. PrivateOwned is similar to orphanRemoval in that it should cause the removal of child entities when they are dereferenced from the parent (ie remove them from the parent's collection). Cascade remove or cascade all should be all you need, but PrivateOwned+orphanRemoval should still cause the collection to be removed, as long as there are entities within the Parent's list of children to remove.
The only case where I can see this not occuring is if you have not been maintaining the bidirectional relationship. That is, if you have added Child entities and set a parent, but not updated the Parent's collection of children to reflect that change. A simple test is to refresh the parent before removal - call em.refresh(e); right before the em.remove(e);. If this works, then you will need to change your application so that when you add parents to a child you also add the child to the parent's list of children - JPA does not maintain relationships for you and not doing so will keep the cache inconsistent with what is in the database.

  • Deleting Voicemail from Landline Call Does not Delete Voicemail from iPhone

I am a Verizon subscriber with an iPhone 4S, if that matters to this issue.
I wanted to cleanup my voicemail and not use any of my minutes.  So, I called my iPhone from a landline at the office and entered the voicemail system.  As a test, I deleted the first 3 voicemail messages.  Then I went to the voicemail on my iPhone and checked for messages--the three I had deleted while on the landline phone were still on my iPhone and could still be played.
Why don't the messages that are deleted from a landline, or another incoming call to the voicemail center, get deleted on the iPhone?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply.
So will deleting the voicemail message on the iPhone delete it from the call-in Verizon system?
With two ways of accessing voicemail, on the iPhone Visual Voicemail and from a call-in line to your phone number to Verizon's system, it would seem that the two could get seriously out of sync.  Isn't this a big problem?
Which is the "master" system.  Don't they ever resync together?

  • Outlook 2010 using Citrix Presentation server does not save mail profile, O365 Mailbox

We had on-premise exchange 2003 mailboxes which have been migrated to O365. Some users access their mailboxes(O365) using Outlook 2010 which is published using Citrix Presentation server 4.5. The AD accounts TS profile is pointing to \\%computername%\Tprofiles\template.man
These users used outlook 2003 with this config with the on premise Exchange 2003 server and it saved the outlook profile. After outlook 2010 is configured to connect to the users O365 mailbox all is fine until the user logs off and logs back in, the profile
setting is lost and has to re-setup. I should mention that Outlook does not auto discover the users mailbox but is able to if the outlook wizard is run either from desktop or RDP however that is not a concern unless these two are related
issues. I am not sure if the issue is with Citrix ( I am not a Citrix admin) and some configuration fine tuning needs to happen on that front or the issue is somewhere else, setting up a roaming profile is kind of ruled out since this was not needed
with Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003.
What would be the best way to get this working ? any help will be appreciated.

It seems that deploying a PRF file is best based on the research as well as some of the links which Amy shared. Users are using Outlook 2010 using the /importprf switch however with outlook 2010 the " Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft
Exchange" is enabled by default this causes some of the users to be continuously prompted for authentication, I was able to manually fix the issue by disabling  "Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange"
Sorry cannot post images or link yet as my account is not verified...
We can't do this manually but want to modify the PRF file to disable this. So far the only documentation referring to this is for Outlook 2003 to
enable this,  it was disabled by default with this version of outlook.
    It is found at
    support.microsoft.com/kb/2006508
    Add "http://" to the link
From this document I now know the setting is labelled - RPCEncryptData
Which needs to be changed under the
    [ServiceEGS]
    and
     [Exchange Global Section]
But I have no clue what values will disable it, anyone knows what values will disable it ? help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • I cannot send mail rejected by server does not allaow relaying

Im having trouble sending mail.  The server doesnt allow relaying

If you are having trouble sending mail and all of the following are working properly:
    Data connection
    Wi-Fi connection
    Cellular service
Then the issue probably lies with you SMTP server, even though these steps can be redundant i would try the Following:
    1. Try toggling airplane mode on for 30 seconds, then turn it off-Test mail
    2. Restard the phone-Test mail
3.If using wi-fi connection disconnect/reconnect(if it still doesnt work) try forget all network settings, then        reconnect to the network once again.
4.If none of those work, depending on who you e-mail service provider is, it may be an issue with their servers and i would contact them to check.

I liked it until the "happily work with your IT department" part.. It's one thing to say they can contact them, but to say "happily"..... Nope nope nope nope...

So I got a call from one of my co-workers this morning regarding an email that he has been trying to receive from a (vendor?) regarding generator information.  The domain is powersgenerator.com.
In looking in my logs, sure enough there is a message in my amavis log regarding open relay:
Open relay? Nonlocal recips but not originating:
    To the question:
What is the best way to word an email to this person (in a respectful business manner) to tell him (probably not in IT at all, and will have no idea what I am talking about) the reasons his email was rejected?  Some examples would be awesome.

  • Server mail does not delete mail queue

mail server does not delete mail queue.

Apparently, Mail sometimes fails to remove messages from the server when Remove copy from server is set to Right away -- don’t know why.
I can only guess Mail sometimes has problems communicating with the server, and precisely because the setting is Right away, never tries again. I’d try changing the setting to After one day or When moved from Inbox, and see whether that makes a difference.
Also, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Have you checked whether Thunderbird does remove the messages from that server?
BTW, woodie is wrong. It’s true that Gmail ignores any requests to delete messages from the server made by a POP client, but it doesn’t let the same messages to be downloaded more than once via POP either. Gmail just doesn’t work like a normal POP server would.

  • HT1495 I delete emails on my Iphone 4s but it does not delete the email when I open my Ipad. Any help would be appreciated

When I delete an email from my Yahoo account on my Iphone 4s, it does not delete it from my computer or my IPAD. I am forced to delete every message three times. Any ideas?

You may well have a POP Yahoo account, in which case deleting emails on one device does not delete them everywhere else.  POP accounts do not provide sync services like IMAP accounts (e.g. Apple mail).  Usually, a POP account offers settings so that when you delete an email locally, that will also delete it from the server; however, if this email has already copied down to another device, that email will not delete from that other device.  Or you can set a POP account so that deleting on a device will not delete from the server, thus all other devices will eventually get the email as well.

    Folks,
even after having repaired the inbox folder under "properties" a few times, I still had some e-mails where the contents are different from the subject line.
In other words in the inbox there are two e-mails: one with subject line "abc", and another one with subject line "def".
When I display the e-mail with the subject line "abc", the contents are from the e-mail with the subject line "def" in the in-basket.

  • Verizon mail deleted from server is not deleted from IPAD2 but works fine on Android

I have both an Android phone and an IPAD.  This Android (RAZR) and my previous one (Droid2) worked fine.   Mail deleted from the server is also deleted from the phone.  Deleted from phone would delete from server.  Worked great.  On IPAD, when setting up the Verizon mail account, it defaults to POP and I can set it to delete from server when removed from IPAD.  However, mail deleted from the server is not deleted from the IPAD and so I have to remove it manually (a second time).  Why does it work on Android and not on IPAD?  Settings on Android appear to also be for POP.  Can anyone help with this?  It's too hard to believe that with so many people using IPADs, that this is such a problem.   I've read that Verizon isn't supporting IMAP, but how in the world is the Android phone working?
    MrBigHands

Any mail service POP downloads a copy of the message to the phone. It would then need to be deleted from the device itself. What you are referring to where its deleted in both places is an IMAP type email service.

  • HT201342 When I delete mail on my Apple Mac, it does not delete those mail itemson my IPAD and I phone.  How can they all be coordinated so I do not have delete mail on all three devices.

When I delete mail items on my Mac Pro it does not delete the same deleted items on my IPAD and I phone.  I have to delete all items from each device.  there must be a way to coordinate all three so that I can remove items on only one device and ICloud should coordinate them.  Please help!

With iCloud emails (those of type me.com, mac.com or icloud.com), they should be deleted on all devices and computers when deleted on one - this assumes all devices/computers are logged into icloud using the same account.
For other email accounts that are not part of icloud, like Yahoo and personal domains, this will not work if the account is a POP account.  In that case you must delete from all devices if the account is set up to not delete from the server.
It sounds like your account is a POP account.

POP does not support synchronization between the server and clients. You will need to use IMAP or Exchange Active Sync if your email provider supports it.
