Deleting Request Automatically in Process Chains

Hi
I have two scenario's..
1. Data sources e.g. 0CO_OM_OPA_1, 0CO_OM_CCA_1 and 0CO_OM_WBS_1, it supports ONLY FULL data extraction process.. So, while extracting data, I want to delete the PSA request automatically, to have not more than 2 request, and the rest should be automatically deleted. Also,  the Request needs to be deleted from DSO as well. How to delete the change log..
2. If a data source which supports DELTA process, what is  the best practices to Delete data from PSA, DSO and cube???
3. what are the some of the routines jobs that needs to run to maintain BI system more effeciently ?
Thanks in advance

Hi.........
Delete PSA request will not delete Change Log table...............If u r in BI 7.0.then there is one process type : Delete Change log request..........this will delete Change log table.........but in BW 3.5.......there is no such Process types.........
Anyways.............if u r doing Data Marting..........then if u delete PSA table then Change log will get deleted..............since in this case PSA table is nothing but the Change log table.........
2. If a data source which supports DELTA process, what is the best practices to Delete data from PSA, DSO and cube???
Suppose U hav many process chains loading different targets...........then create a seperate chain for PSA deletion............include change log deletion also there.........completeion of the daily loads.........execute that chain..............but don't delete recent requests from PSA and change log both............delete old request.....like older than 10 days..............otherwise suppose any error occur............u cannot reload the request...........For change log.u cannot do delta............for foir pSA again u hav to do extraction........

Debjani......

  • How to automate selective deletion of ods in process chain

    Hi,
How can we automate selective deletion of ods in Process chain. I tried with the proceedure. Using T-code "delete_fact" I gave selection parameters and Name of the program and saved this as variant and gave the same program and variant in Process cahin. But it is not deleting data. So plz guide me whether I have missed anything in this proceedure.

    Hi purushottam,
you have to give to program variants in the process chain for data deletion to take place. in the first program variant include the rsdrd_delete_facts as program name and in the program variant give a variant for your infoprovider selection.
Now again select another program variant and include the name of the program which you get after selecting the infoprovider name and  the generate selection program  option in the "program for deleting selected entries from the data target" screen " and press execute.
again give another variant for your field selection.
now try execute the process chain.

  • Deleting Master Data Requests in a Process Chain

    Hi All,
I need to delete and reload master data in a process chain.  I created an ABAP program that uses the function module "RSDMD_DEL_MASTER_DATA" to delete the master data.  I invoke this program from my process chain, and this is working well.  My master data is being deleted nicely.
Question, however.  I noticed that this does not delete the actual data request for that InfoObject.  If I manage that attribute, I still see the request appearing, eventhough I see no records when I select the option to maintain master data.
Can anyone tell me how I can delete the requests for master data, and how this can be done through a process chain?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to create process variant for delete index in a process chain

    Respected all
I am creating a process chain, but unable to create process variant for the delete index. kindly tell me the
step by step proceure for creating the variant for delete index. also if we use variant which is previously prepared then will it be safe? will it affect the other running process chian.
    pls reply
    thanks
    abhay

    Hi,
Please do not use an already created variant for index deletion. It might delete indices of some other cube.
You can follow the following steps -
    1. Open the chain in Edit mode and click on "Process Types" button
    2. On the Left hand side you will have various process types. Choose "Data Target Administration" and expand it.
    3. Choose the first process "Delete Index" (it will be marked with a trash bin sign) and drag it to your chain
    4. It will ask you create a variant. Press the create Button
    5. In new window enter the Process Variant technical name and description
    6. Then in new window choose Object Type = Cube through dropdown and Object name via browsing. After choosing the cube name click on "Transfer Selections"
    7. Save and return to your chain
    8. It will automatically generate a create index step also after delete index.
    9. You need to break the link between create and delete step and insert infopackage in between to get the following steps - delete index --> load cube --> create index.
Please let me know if this is helpful..

  • Problem delete chang log from process chain BW 7.01

We have upgrade BW from 3.5 version to 7.01 version two month ago.
Now I realized that the process chain running one a week to delete PSA and change log don't work well after upgrade.
The process chain end without errors (status is green), but the change log are not deleted.
In the test system I try to delete the Change Log in 2 mode:
1-with the variant "Deletion of Requests from the Change Log " and the datastoreobject = myods and all the option (correct request, incorrect request and "Delete Activation Requests Only"). In the log i see this messagge
The following excluded selections will be processed:
    No excluded selections found
The following included selectiosn will be processed:
    Pattern: DataStore = 0FIGL_O06, InfoArea = *
The following reqeust selections were set:
    Number of days = 0000000010, Successful = X, Incorrect = X, Curr. Requests =
The following change logs were selected:
2-with the variant "Deletion of Requests from PSA " and the datasource= 8myods and all the option (correct request, incorrect request).  In the log i see this messagge
The following excluded selections will be processed:
    No excluded selections found
The following included selectiosn will be processed:

The following reqeust selections were set:
    Number of days = 0000000015, Successful = X, Incorrect = X, Load requests =
    The following PSAs were selected:
In both case the change log is not deleted.
I can delete the change log only using Manage screen of my ods and then using Menu -> Environment ->Delete Change Log Data.
    Anna Maria

I see that this topic is still active/unanswered...
We're having the same problem, but not just changelogs, also for PSAs. We have a weekly process chain that does housekeeping on our BW system, cleaning up PSAs and changelogs, compressing cubes, realigning time-dep masterdata and renewing indexes.
The PSA chain runs fine and about 90% of all PSAs get deleted, but there are some datasources (all of them are of type 8* datamart datasources) that don't get their PSAs deleted. It says "The following PSAs were selected:" and then nothing happens...
I tried all tickbox combinations and checked that there are no PSA entries blocked by invalid partitions. Manual deletion (via "manage" in the datasource) works fine, but is tedious and time consuming.
Also, most of the 8* datasource PSAs do get deleted. Just a handful (+/- 25) get skipped somehow.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Eduard
PS: We're still running 3.5-style backend dataflow, but will eventually get converted to transformations and DTPs. But that's not on our agenda (yet).

  • How to delete master data via process chain

    Hi All,
I have to delete master data before loading it again via a process chain.
In the process chain I chose the process " complete deletion of the data target content" but here I did not find infoobject as the data target option to delete the data.
Please suggest how to solve this.
    Thanks,
    Harini

    Hi Harini,
P_CHABNM - It is for the reference characteristic.
I think if you dont have a ref characteristic then give the info-object name.
This is what I fetched fom help.
    Reference characteristic
The reference characteristic has the technical properties of a characteristic such as data type and length, as well as the master data (attributes, texts and hierarchies). The characteristic itself also has buinesses semantics.  Several characteristics can refer to the same reference  characteristic. Such characteristics automatically have the same technical properties and master data.
    Example:
The characteristics sender cost center and receiver cost center use the reference characteristiccost center and with it the same values and the same texts.

    Hi Park,
From what you describe I am assuming that the you had a BW Process Chain running from CPS and then decided to kill it.  This autoamtically created a child job that's supposed to stop the Process Chan in SAP that should have, once complete, updated the parent job from it's 'Killing' status to 'Killed'.  Now you find that the BW Process Chain in SAP is/was stopped, the CPS child job has also completed and yet your Process Chain job in CPS still has a 'killing' status.  Because it is stuck in this status you cannot do anything with it, i.e. none of the scheduling options in the Redwood Explorer are active.
Assuming the above interpretation is correct then you probably have only one option and that is to force an update in the Repository itself.  I also assume you're using either v6.x or v7.x.
To confirm the status of the current job in preparation for the update you can do the following query in the Redwood Shell when logged in as SYSJCS:
    select status from rws_job$ where job# = <the job number of the job currently in a 'killing' status>;
This should return 1 row and the value for status should be 'G'.
To update the status you can use the following command from the Redwood Shell when logged in as SYSJCS:
    update rws_job$ set status = 'K' where job# = <the job number of the job currently in a 'killing' status>;
To confirm your update was successful before finally committing use the first query again..
    select status from rws_job$ where job# = <the job number of the job which previously was in a 'killing' status>;
This should return 1 row and the value for status should be 'K'.
You can now commit the change or rollback if you've made a mistake
    commit;
Normally it is not recommended that CPS users modify any of the underlying tables so you may want to check with support that they are ok with you executing this command.
You may also want to check that you have the latest Service Pack for CPS as this may mitigate this kind of issue from appearing again.
    Regards,
    Simon

  • Deleting PSA data  using process chain doesn't delete records from psatable

    Dear All,
We have an issue where by the process chain runs and deletes the PSA records and upon checking that's what we thought it had done from the monitor but it didn't actually delete the records from the PSA Tables!
Does anyone have any clues about this ?
    Thanks
    Craig

    Chetan,
Yes you read correctly the actual table content for the PSA records are not physically removed.
By monitor I meant the entry in the requests for PSA.
It's a strange one for sure.
    Cheers

  • Delete psa variant in process chain

    Hi all,
I am trying to create deletion of request from PSA and when I go to create the variant and new screen comes up where I have to specify a object type and then object name. also at the bottom there are 4 options older than __ days page before __date
    only successfully booked/updated request
only those request with errors, that are not booked in data target.
Can someone tell how to deal with all these fields, in that  object field and name do we have to specify an infooject? or can we just say anything older that 20 days and create a generic variant to use for all the process?
    Please help
    Thanks,

Well, I can try to explain in short:
No real best practice for number of process chains, but the way they are structured in our system is by applications: COPA, SD, Purchasing, CRM applications, Inventory, and some other custom applications. These are the process chains (can be several in each area) that take care of the transactional data load...and also other data load processes: compression, roll up, activate ODS data etc.
Master data load chains are divided as Daily, Weekly and Monthly. Of course several master data loads are also included in the transactional chains if we are doing a look up in the update rules, or may be some master data comes from the transactional datasource.
Other than that there is the PSA delete chain that was discussed above.
    Hope this helps...

  • Delete older data via process chain

Business needs only data for the past 45 days at any given time and the data loads are daily basis via process chain.
so I would like to have a step in Process chain to delete any data older than 30 days from today's date , on a daily basis.
How can I do that in the Process chain?

    Hi,
You can use a process type called Delete overlapping request from Infocube in process chain. To delete requests older than 30 days select Deletion selections and write ABAP routine under Request selection through routine using following template.
Routines for determining the old requests to be deleted after successfully loading a new request.
    form compute_<InfoCube-Name>
      tables l_t_request_to_delete structure rsreqdelstruc
      using l_request like rsreqdone-rnr
      changing p_subrc like sy-subrc.
*Insert Source Code to decide if requests should be deleted.
*All Requests in table l_t_request_to_delete will be deleted
    *from Infocube <InfoCube-Name>.
*Add new requests if you want to delete more (from this cube).
*Remove requests you did not want to be deleted.
$$ begin of routine - insert your code only below this line-
         loop at l_t_request_to_delete.
         endloop.
         clear p_subrc.
$$ end of routine - insert your code only before this line-
    ENDFORM.
    hope it helps...

    Hi Experts,
Can any one come accross the similar issue? . If so I am eager to know the fix for it.
I have collected my process chain in a transport request and when I am trying to release the same for import to another system, I get the following error message.
Error Message: some object (start varient for process chain and DTP process) is missing in the transport request.
BUT THE MENTIONED OBJECT IS COLLECTED AND I CAN SEE UNDER MY REQUEST.
But still i get the error message. Not sure where the problem is.
Hope there might be some solution to resolve the issue.

    Hi All,
I have tried all the options which you all suggested, but still i face the same issue.
I tried collecting it through transport connection through RSA1.

  • Solved: Delete Using Automatic Row Processing

See Scott's reply below for the answer.
    Hi there,
I have an application built in APEX 3.0.1 that I would like to be able to use a button to delete a single row from an underlying database table (owned by the parsing schema).
My APEX page has a 3 HTML regions on it:
    1. Only a Select List and Go button for User selection (of Debit Note)
    2. Ten display Items (Text Field, Disabled saves state) displaying further information about User selection
    3. Conditional Delete button (region with custom image) - only displays when P73_DEBITNOTEID is NOT NULL
I'd like this button to be used to Delete the Selected Item and thought I'd be able to use a Data Manipulation Page Process - Automatic Row Processing (DML) page process to do this.
However, when I go through the wizard the Select item containing primary key column value field has no values in the search list.
My first question is why was there no values in the list?
So I manually entered the Item I required (P73_DEBITNOTEID) but when I run the page and click the button I get a PL/SQL missing expression error.
What is the best practice method to do DML actions on the underlying database tables. The tables are all owned by the parsing schema.
Your help in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Gary.

    Gary,
The DML processes (and the creation wizards for them) are for use with items having source type Database Column. If your page items don't use this source type, then neither the Automated Row Fetch nor the Automatic Row Processesing (DML) process types will work.

  • How to delete Master data using Process Chain

I need to delete data in respective data targets such as Infocubes, DSO’s & Master data Infoobjects. It was fine with Infocubes & DSOs  using respective process type. But the issue is with Master data Infoobjects.
Is there any process type by using which I can delete data in Master data Infoobjects using process chain?

    Murali,
Master data object process type is not there because in BW, master data is conformed or is shared by other infoproviders. Due to this dependency, master data loading is a bit more complex. You need to drop all the data from all the infproviders which are using the master data you want to delete.
