Delivery Scheduling & Availability Check

Dear Experts,
During delivery scheduling process; SAP system first performs backward scheduling by taking requested delivery date into consideration, then calculating some dates in order to determine the date at which material availability should run. My question is what are these dates and what is the meaning of each date?
What is the difference between Transportation Planning date/time, Transportation Lead Time, and Transit Time?
Does material staging refers to pick/pack time?
Does the system use GI processing time (as in goods receipt - GR processing time)?
What is the difference between calculating some date using calendar days, or workdays? Does calendar days include off days like weekends, and holidays?

Abdelaziz

I am not sure I understand what you mean when you say 'Transportation planning time'.  Transportation planning is usually considered to be an event (deadline), and not a duration.  The system will calculate a Transportation planning date.  Logically is  the latest time you can make arrangements with your carriers for transportation.
Perhaps you are talking about route scheduling, and in the case where the transportation lead time is optionally stated (and scheduled) in terms of HH:MM rather than the more common DD + decimal.

You are getting pretty basic here.  You might want to consider taking a basic PP class to gain the knowledge you seek.  Online forums are a poor way to learn the basics.
Factory calendars are used throughout SAP to manage date-type data. Their use is not restricted to just factories.  In the case of shipment and delivery scheduling, the system will usually try to determine and use one or more factory calendars to determine deadlines.
In configuration, you create and maintain factory calendars. SCAL.  These calendars contain data about, among other things, workdays and non-workdays.  The calendars are then assigned to objects that will be scheduled.  Most date calculations conducted in Delivery and Shipment scheduling are based upon workdays, e.g. only working days are used for calculating deadlines, and deadlines will not normally fall upon a non-working day.  For instance, a Plant will have a factory calendar assigned to it, that calendar will be used to calculate certain production and material availability dates.  A shipping point will have a factory calendar assigned to it, that will be used to calculate certain shipping related dates.  A Route will have a factory calendar assigned to it, which will be used to calculate certain shipping related dates.  Each object can have a different calendar, to reflect the actual availability of the object being scheduled.

  • Schedule lines in Availability Check Delivery Proposal screen

    Hi,
This is in continuation to an earlier thread that I had created about Sales Orders not getting CIFfed across to APO. I have a situation in a different system where this is being configured for data transfer. The problem here is not about CIF. All issues pertaining to CIF were addressed in the earlier thread.
This question is primarily about schedule lines of the sales order not opening up for confirmation in 'APO Availability Check: Delivery Proposal' screen as in this link: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B78qjSKXsqbeNDFjMzlkM2MtMDNlOS00ODFmLWJmYjktYmU0ZDU5Zjk0ZDlh&sort=name&layout=list&num=50&authkey=CO2E0ZYN
It is perhaps some config that is changed or missing that is causing this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Srikanth

    Srikanth,
This is what the screen looks like when the ATP you have configured cannot confirm anything.  The only button available to you is to proceed without confirming the order.
An example of the types of reasons would be no allocation available, no stock available, no supply elements available, too many existing requirements, etc etc.  Improper or incomplete APO GATP configuration could unfortunately also be the culprit.
You have two icons at the top, check instructions and Allocation.  Click on these buttons, and they may give you clues as to what is causing your problems.

  • Availability check no scheduling

When I want to execute an availability check for a sales order item.
It says one-time delivery not possible on required date confirmed q: 0.
Sap doesn't want to execute scheduling so i cannot confirm delivery date to customer.
Anybody has any ideas. If you need extra info pls ask.

    Dear Sudhir,
Everything is set up correctly. The strange thing is that for this sales order it doesn't want to check availability of any material.
Materials ik kan check in other sales orders can not be checked in this sales order.
    Any suggestions?

  • Creating  outbound delivery for no availability check

The stock for a material is zero (in T-code MMBE). There is no availability check for this material.
I could successfully create a sales order for this material.
But when I try creating a outbound delivery for this material it doesnt allow me to do. What could be the problem.
I checked the delivery item category, schedule line. They also have no availabilty check.
What are the settings I need to check so that I can create a outbound delivery successfully,

    hi,
delivery cant happen without stock of the material under standard conditions. if avaiilability check is not there for that material the system confirms the req delivery date of the customer and when doing delivery for the schedule line system checks for the stock and obviously throws an error. this is a very normal situation.
post stock for the material and delivery willl be processed.

  • Availability check box at schedule line level and requirement class level

    Hi All
What is the significance of availability check field at schedule line level and requirement type level.
If I remove the check box at schedule line level, then there won't be any availability check carried out in the sales order, even though in requirement class it is checked. Is it for doing availability once the requirement is passed to MRP...
In make to stock scenario, no availability check is active at schedule line level.
scenario 1. stock is 0 in plant, when i place an order for 10 quantity, does system give any confirmed quantity on so and so date...or the confirmed quantity will be zero or as there is no availability check carried out, it confirms 10 quantity on customer requested delivery date and the time of creation of delivery, it gives an error message stating zero quantity is available. which one is correct in all the above.
In make to order scenario, no availability check is active at schedule line level.
order was created for 10 qty, as there is no availability check active, does the system give some date based on the lead times maintained in the material master or not?
    Regards
    Sree

    Hi sreekar
The significance of availability check at schedule line level  is to determine weather availability check and TOR should be carried out for sales orders  or not.
If you remove check box at schedule line level , availability check and TOR wont be  carried out at sales order level.
Coming to the scenario you said , make to stock , i think the availability check you are using is 01 make it 02. which is planned requirements. and stratergy group as 10. in MRP3 view in MMR. .
as the availability check u have put 01 & stratergy group as 10 availability check doesnt carry
coming to the scenario 2  , if the stock is 0 in plant and if you create a sales order, then the confirmed quantity should be 0 and that particular order will go to backorder processing.
sometimes it  confirms the ordered quantity as the  confirmed qunatity, and it gives a confiremed delivery date on which the stock is confirmed , but that date is a tentative date.
all these unconfirmed orders will go to backorders. once the qunatity is confirmed automatically , delivery date also will be done
Coming to scenario 3 , when you create MTO order there will be availability check checked at the schedule line level. can you tell wat is the schedule line you are getting is it CP or ND?
for schedule lines , ND - no availability check will be there , PD - availability check will be there
Note: plz check 1st the availability check you have entered in MMR , if it  is 01 make it as 02. and then run these cycles.
Reward points if useful and if Any queries let me know

  • VL10A - Stock on hand Availability Check before creation of delivery

    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to control the creation of delivery via VL10A to first check for actual receipted stock before allowing the delivery to be created.
eg. Material X has inbound delivery date 01.07.2011.  Sales Order has delivery date of 01.07.2011, thus schedule line has confirmed date of 01.07.2011.
On 01.07.2011, inbound delivery has not yet been GR'd into stock, VL10A runs with current date set and outbound delivery is created for Sales Order, despite the stock not being available to deliver.
Where does this check (for available stock on hand) need to be performed?
Is there a setting in the input parameters in VL10A? If so which specific parameter on what tab controls this?
If not, does this need to be handled in the Availability Check & Transfer of Requirements configuration of the sales order, so that the schedule line is not confirmed until the goods are in stock?  If so, what specific config is required to achieve this.
During my research I have found responses indicative of both areas however no specific examples are available. Thanks for your help

  • Availibility check "02" not generating a confirmed schedule line

    Hey Gurus,
We can't figure out why when create a order using the availability check as "02" that the system will not create a confirmed quantity for the schedule line.  The material is available and we have also checked to see that the delivery time was reasonable for delivery of the product.  We run the availability check in the sales order and it still will not create a schedule line for us to create a delivery on.
Do you all have any suggestions of master data and configuration that we should check in order to try to get this to work?
    Sincerely,
    Nina

    Dear Nina,
I think in your case - the stock may be allocated to some other sale orders which are already created and not yet delivered.
Please check in CO09(Availability Overview) for that particular material.
Though you can see the stock in MMBE, it might be allocated to some other order..
    Transaction:
First check the requirement type assigned to your sale order in Procurement Tab of a sale order.
OVZG(Req,. class) - Check Availablity Check indicator is checked
OVZH(Req. Type) - Check Req. type has assigned to Req. class.
In VOV6 - check Availability check indicator is checked for your schedule line category..
Check in Material master - general / plant view .. Availability check is assigned for that material..
If you have maintained all these settings properly, and still the order is not getting confirmed - then the stock might be assigned to some other sale order which is not delivered yet..
    Thanks,

  • How to execute availability check against delivery date in purchase order

    Hi all
In MD04, I know that "available date = delivery date in purchase order + GR processing time" & "GR date = delivery date in purchase order". When I execute availability check in production order, I will get material's committed date = available date. But I hope to get material's committed date = GR date in purchase order.
For example. delivery date in purchase order is 2012/02/06 and GR processing time is 2 days. After ATP in production order, I will get committed date 2012/02/08. But I hope it show 2012/02/06. How to customize it.
(The GR processing time must be set 2 days for MRP calculation. it can be changed to 0.) Thanks!!

    Hi Rita,
One Doubt, If you say that material commited has to be the GR date and you do not wish to wait for GR processing time, then why do you have the GR processing time in first place.
For ex. My client, we get the stock as per GR in Quality inspection and so we have GR processing time considered for available time in MD04. But since the business considers the Inspection stock as avialble, The stock gets reflected in avialibility check the moment GR is done.
So please explain your requirement in detail. There could some way to do so. If not the raise an issue with SAP.

  • Availability check on schedule lines of contract

    Hi,
We have maintained 2 line items (L1 and L2) with same material (M1) in contract. Also these two line items have schedule lines maintained.
    e.g.
    L1  :  S1,S2
    L2 :   S3,S4
Now we create a sales order in reference to line item L1 and do an availability check.  The ATP does not show schedule lines for S1,S2 in availability overview. only S3,S4 quantities is taken into consideration for ATP calculation.
We have activated availability check at schedule line level.
Any pointers as to why S1,S2 requirements are not shown in availability overview
P.S.  If we create a sales order in reference to line item L2 ,then the ATP does not show schedule lines for S3,S4 in availability overview. only S1,S2 quantities is taken into consideration for ATP calculation.
Any pointers will be highly welcome.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Sorry, for Sch. AV check is not activated but TR is activated.

  • Sales order - Schedule line or Availability check

    Dear friends,
I have one requirement on sales order availability check or schedule line.
When i enter material and quantity in sales order it should not determine stock from one storage location (0003 storage location for damaged goods) through availability check or schedule line whatever.
Can i handle this through any routine or functional config. kindly suggest.
    Regards,
    Praveen Lobo

    Dear Praveen
Dont maintain the storage location 0003 in MMSC.  Also, in material master, you dont maintain the "Delivering Plant" so that you will have to input manually in sale order.  If Plant is not flowing automatically in sale order, your storage location will also not flow.
    thanks

  • Availability check on storages in sales order and delivery documents

    Hi all,
I'm verifying if it's possible to find a standard or a custom solution for this type of problem:
I have a scenario in which there are more storages relevant for MRP (ex. 01, 02, 03, 04), and, in if I check availability in sales order or delivery (using checking rules "A" or "B") with setting which considering storages location inspection in availability check control, system check if there's stock available on all these storages.
I'm trying to verify if it's possible to consider only some on these storages (ex. 01 and 03 only) in sales order and delivery documents availablity check.
I know that in sales order storage location field is normally filled only using exit, but i don't know if it's possible to do, using a user exit, check availability considering only some storages and not all. At delivery level i have tried to use stock strategy, but this functionality don't have consequences on availability check, also if it's relevant during good issue phase.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Gianpaolo

    Hi Gianpaolo,
We had some issues with availability check on a Customer Site.
I don't remember right now if we had to exclude storage locations from MRP to take them out from ATP, but I guess Shiva is 100% correct.
At the end, what was done was to always "force" a unique storage location in the sales order item, which will be the storage location used for shipping of the delivery of course.
If you use WM in your plant, then you will have no problem in having a unique storage location, so no problem.
Anyway you are correct in your analysis, if the Storage location is not informed in the sales order item, then all the plant stock is taken in account for ATP.

  • Availability check in Scheduling agreement

    Hi thr,
Could someone please explain me about the availability check in the scheduling agreement. In the availability screen of the agreement, when i enter the scheduling lines, when i give partial qts it gives me error saying "on date(which i enter) only 0.00KM available" and when i enter the entire qty in the same line irrespective of what the date is it is confirming. Could someone please explain me the logic behind this.

  • Change availability check group to 02 from 01 in scheduling agreement

    Hi All,
I have created a Scheduling agreement for a material which is having an availability check of 01(Daily requirement), because of that my order number is not reflecting in MDO4. Now i have changed the availability check for that material to 02(individual requirement). Could you please suggest me how to get the order number in MD04 now? Finally we have to update availability check group as 02 in scheduling agreement also.
Do we have any program or  SAP note which will help us to resolve this issue?
    Warm Regards
    Lakshmikanth

    Hi
Any corrections made in masters after a document is created will not update the already created documents (99 %in SAP)
It will apply for new documents only
You have made the changes in material master only changing availability check from 01 to 02
You need to create a fresh order and see
